I have been practicing yoga here for over 1.5 years. I originally found this studio through a Google search, and am so grateful I started going here. This is not a "exercise yoga" class where you just mimic the shapes an instructor is doing at the front of class. This is a class meant to teach you the foundations of the mind/body/breath connection in yoga, the proper form in each asana and how to engage the bones and muscles to practice safely and with intention. The instructor, Bruce, was taught by Iyengar himself. He has a deep knowledge of the body and its mechanics to help each student find relief from pain and learn how they can use Iyengar yoga to improve their health and wellbeing. I highly recommend this studio to anyone completely new to yoga or those wanting to expand their practice.

I have been studying at Yoga St. Louis for more than fifteen years. Bruce is a highly skilled teacher with advanced knowledge of yoga and physiology. He uses these skills to provide individual attention to students to make yoga safe and accessible no matter their flexibility or skill level. His instruction has been incredibly helpful in dealing with my scoliosis.

I have been practicing at Yoga St. Louis for 12 years. Bruce was recommended to me by a friend because I had severe back pain that had left me virtually unable to function. Frankly I was doubtful I’d ever function again but Bruce thought he could help me and convinced me to give it a shot. Bruce is an expert in physiology and can make even the most challenging actions attainable for most people. He understands the body’s compensation mechanisms and how to address issues in a safe way. This was not a miracle cure and took time, and work on my part, but Bruce’s guidance and careful explanations were key to my recovery and to helping me learn to move in safer and more effective ways for my long term health. He is the only person I will let correct/manipulate me when I am having pain. As an added bonus I have learned much about yoga and the importance of the interaction between mind and body to a person’s health and wellness and another way to approach pain and healing. As long as Bruce runs a yoga studio, I will be taking his classes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Bruce Roger is a master. He teaches and guides and corrects....doesn't just show poses like most 'gym yoga' classes. Students receive individual attention and improve. Bruce is a rare find.

Not only have I practiced yoga with teachers all over the country but I am an experienced yoga teacher. I’ve been practicing with Bruce for about six months. He’s incredible. Not only has he made me a better teacher but I refer my students to him. Anyone who has given him a poor review has likely never actually practiced with him.

I've been going to Yoga St. Louis for four years, I highly recommend it, especially if you have any physical issues: I have scoliosis, and they've shown me several poses that strengthen my back I do at home, it has helped immensely ! Bruce's knowledge and training are incredibly in-depth...FYI Iyengar yoga training is a *lot* longer than typical yoga certifications, including going to India. Yes, some people find Bruce a bit brusque, but IMO it's a reflection of how they teach yoga in India, it's more directive and not so "new age". And it also includes talking about the philosophy behind yoga. Overall the self-awareness and physical benefits I've gotten are amazing, and well worth it!!! Namaste
