Over the past few years I have been fortunate enough to be able to train with Evan. He brings so much knowledge and expertise and it shows in the results of his clients. The way Evan customizes each program to fit your goals highlights his genuine care and passion for his work. I trained with Evan for three years and he has helped me tremendously with basic understanding of the gym environment, how to engage various muscle groups for strength training, and performance on the soccer field. We combined strength training with improving explosive movements and lateral balance, which are all super important in any sport. As a now co-captain of the varsity soccer team at Sentinel , I can credit my training with Evan for immensely improving my athleticism.
Evan is great working with the beginners to become more advanced. He knows how to appropriately phase in new exercises and intensity into workouts overtime. He is very patient, but also demanding and knows how much to push for optimal results. Evan has supported me by coming to soccer games, making workouts enjoyable by having fun, and pushing me to do my best.

This past year I had the privilege of training with Evan Claxton. I started meeting with Evan in September knowing little about strength training. Over these last 10 months I not only gained experience in the gym but I connected with Evan on a personal level. About 7 months into our sessions I hurt my right wrist. Evan took that into account and modified our sessions to ensure I was getting the most efficient training, without further aggravating my wrist. It is abundantly clear that Evan is a caring, compassionate and wonderful trainer who puts thought into each and every session. I will take what I have learned from Evan to college and to gyms across the world.

Working with Evan for over 4 years has been life-changing. Prior to joining his team, I was diagnosed with a deformity in my back which prohibited me from playing sports I loved, as well as functioning pain free on a daily basis. Evan has trained my 2 sons, specifically focusing on developing speed and power for Track and Field. My older son was a 7 time state champion and currently holds the 200 meter state record. My younger son is entering his senior and has the potential for similar results. Evan is not only a great trainer, he has been a great mentor and friend to my boys. I have worked with Evan on and off over the last 5-6 years and I can not recommend him enough! He helped me prepare for my collegiate track career and helped me get back into strength training after a pretty rough back injury as well. He makes a point to support his clients outside of the gym attending sporting events from track to volleyball to football. He has excellent skills and knowledge, and he goes above and beyond to check-in and make sure my strength-training needs are being met, and that I am satisfied with my progress. I highly recommend his services and feel he is one of the best in town!

We came to Evan when my daughter was getting ready to enter high school. My daughter was tall and thin and heavily involved in sports. We were looking for her to learn correct technique, increase strength, coordination and build all of this for injury prevention and to keep her safe in the high school weight room and beyond. Evan has built a rapport with her that motivates her to work hard, including working out on her own off days. Because of the professional relationship he has built, he can push her or convince her to back off when needed to keep her in her sports. Her progress has far exceeded our expectations. Evan is awesome. I am a retired professional athlete with all kinds of chronic injuries. I trusted him to keep my body and mind in shape for all of 2021, and I cannot say enough about how impactful the experience was. He comes to every session with an infectious positive attitude. He knows every possible modification there is for every exercise. He listens and pushes you in equal parts. On top of all of that, he’s just a fun person to be around. At nearly 50 years old I had never spent time in a gym environment other than what was required in school. All of my active life has been spent in the Montana outdoors on bikes, motorcycles, in the water or in the woods so needless to say I was a bit hesitant to follow in my family’s footsteps and begin working with Evan at M.U.S.T.. That hesitation lasted about 15 minutes and by the end of my first hour with Evan I knew I was in the right place.
Before we started our sessions Evan spent time to assess my current physical state and make sure he understood MY goals. As a newcomer to the gym Evan was excellent at explaining the mechanics and purpose of each exercise in order to maximize its benefits and made sure I was comfortable performing them. He put together a comprehensive training plan to meet my goals for the gym and on my own when I travel for work.
After working with Evan for a year I lost 20 pounds and worked myself into the best overall physical shape I’ve ever been in. In that time we worked through the COVID shutdowns where he quickly modified my workout plan so I could stay active and progressing at home while the gyms were closed. He was also excellent in adjusting my workouts and helping me work through a significant knee injury without losing any of the overall progress I’d made.
Working with Evan isn’t just about what happens at M.U.S.T., it will encompass your lifestyle and he’ll help provide guidance with nutrition, sleep, and recovery which are all equally as important to me as the actual workouts.
I feel fortunate to have been able to work with Evan and enjoyed his expertise, great nature, encouragement, and conversations all while improving my overall well-being.
If you’re like me and weren’t a gym goer or haven’t been in awhile, I highly recommend meeting with Evan to see what he can do for you. If you’re willing to put in the work and follow his program my guess is it’ll be one of the best decisions you’ll make for your overall well-being.

I feel lucky I found Evan as a personal trainer! He is extremely professional, knowledgabe & fun to work with. He's very knowledgable about the how's and why's of every exercise & can easily communicate them in a way that makes sense. I had specific goals when we first met & he customized a workout plan so I could meet those goals. He was also readily available to help me with any nutritional or other fitness related advice I needed. If I didn't move out of Missoula, I'd be signing up for another 3 month program with him in a heart beat.

My wife and I started working with Evan as a couple almost a year ago. She knew nothing about being in a gym, and I had been out of the gym for more than two decades. Evan tailored our exercises to meet our exact needs from the ground up. There have been a few home injuries along the way, and Evan assisted with recovery from these home injuries. He retailored our programs to meet what was needed and assist with the rehab process.
Evan is encouraging and has a vast amount of fitness knowledge. Our physical, mental, and emotional health has vastly improved through working with Evan. A year ago we were fat and depressed, now we are out and active every weekend because we have the physical strength to do so, and the mental and emotional desires to get off the couch! He encouraged our consistency and consistency is the key to results.

Evan is by far the best trainer I have worked out with. The workouts were skewed for my exact needs as a track athlete; everything was individualized for me. He pushed me to my limits in the best way with more reps and heavier weight than I had done before. I enjoyed my time with Evan a lot- we definitely had fun while in the gym. The recovery, nutrition, and sleep aspects were extremely important as well and something that I had never been coached in before. Evan is clearly extremely knowledgeable in every aspect of his profession and taught me how to hold myself accountable in and out of the gym. I came to Evan after a repetitive-use shoulder injury began interfering with my active lifestyle. I had tried months of acupuncture, light yoga and rehabilitation exercises, and was slightly skeptical that getting into the gym with a trainer would be able to rid me of pain. It took one consultation with Evan for me to loose all skepticism. It was immediately evident that Evan's knowledge about the body and its mechanics would positively impact my life. Evan created a custom training plan for my needs, and after completing just the first day of this program, I could feel and understand in my body where I was weak, and what problems it was causing. The health of my shoulder improved right away, as did my overall health. Evan pushed me to the point of growth, was compassionate when I needed support, and provided me a relationship with my body and appreciation for strength training that I will carry with me forever, especially in my yoga teaching. Before moving to Missoula, I did a lot of research on the local gym offerings to get a better understanding of which gym would be the best fit for myself and my fitness goals. I knew that I did not want a Globo Gym, one of those places where the clients are nothing more than a cash cow that drives profits. I wanted a gym that cared about their clients as people, and a trainer that truly invested him or herself in their clients. It did not take me long to figure out that MUST was that gym, and after my first visit I found that Evan was that trainer.
I was still relatively new to my fitness journey and I had a lot of goals, as well as a lot of questions, but no real plan on how to get there. Evan not only patiently answered all of my inquiries, but he also was instrumental in the creation and implementation of a plan that had a massive positive impact on my posture, taught me a lot about the mind/muscle connection when performing every exercise, and improved my overall mobility to name a few things.
If your goal is to not only get stronger and move better, but to have a greater understanding of how your body functions during exercise and activity, you will be hard pressed to find a better trainer than Evan Claxton.

Evan took the time to get to know me. He understood that I was wanting to get stronger and faster for football, baseball and skiing. This was my first time building strength and speed in a gym with a trainer. Evan created a customized workout for me that I could use at home while training for baseball. Workouts with Evan are enjoyable, motivating and challenging. His clear instructions and focus on form, made sure I was training safely. Going into the football season, I feel stronger and more prepared for our school weight room.
There have been significant improvements from working with Evan. One of which is that my arm and leg strength has increased. Also, if I hadn’t worked out with Evan there would be no way I could walk into a weight room and be as confident about what I’m doing. As I have gotten stronger, my speed has gotten faster too. I could see this by my faster base running during baseball.
Anyone would benefit from working with Evan. He is very knowledgeable and all about proper form. When I first started training with with Evan,he started me off slow. I was not sure if I wanted to keep going on with the program. BUT, I am so glad I stuck with it! Once I got my proper form down we started picking up the pace. We started to lift. The workouts intensified. Working with Evan, I filled my goal of becoming stronger & faster at my sports.

I was dedicated to fitness and the gym for almost 20 years when I re-injured my back and found myself sidelined by severe knee pain while hunting the high country. The injuries were a wake-up call that my workout wasn’t working. I decided it was time to start something completely different and on the recommendation of a friend, I came to MUST. I heard good things about their trainers and needed a change of routine. It was one of the best decisions I have made.
After a full assessment of where I was strong, where I was weak, and how I was out of balance, Evan designed a workout focused on corrective exercises intended to retrain my body to work better and more efficiently. On paper it looked easy. It wasn’t.
After three months, I felt stronger, I was certainly fitter, I had lost 10 extra pounds I didn’t know I had, and most importantly I was able to play hard without pain.
After six months, Evan designed a completely new workout that kept the focus on correctives, but stepped up the strength and endurance training. It was just what I asked for, and it was damn challenging. My body adapted and my fitness increased.
Now it has been over a year of working with Evan and MUST and I am as fit as I have ever been in my life. I’m still 10 pounds lighter than when I walked in the door, but I am significantly stronger, and most importantly I made it through the last year without pain or injury.
What I most appreciate about Evan and MUST is that it’s client specific. There’s no one size fits all solution, and the trainers at MUST work with you to be sure you get the workout that is right for you - and they make sure you understand it and can do it safely. They are always available for questions and more than willing to help. I am extremely impressed by what Evan and MUST offer. I thought I was fit and I thought I was strong, but it turns out there was a lot of room for improvement. Evan provided the personalized guidance to help me achieve my goals and I could not be happier with the results.

I joined MUST gym a few months ago and as I go through the ups and downs that life throws at me, I have never met a trainer that is more accommodating, patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging as Evan.

The first time I walked into MUST I knew that it was the perfect space, with a friendly staff and cliental, wherein I could feel comfortable and inspired enough to begin what I needed and wanted to do: get in shape and feel good about myself. I sought out a personal trainer and was introduced to Evan Claxton, who thoughtfully evaluated what I wanted and how I could get there. Together, we created a plan with reasonable goals (and a bit beyond) and actionable steps to take to achieve those goals. Evan acted as my guide, my shadow, and as a motivator every step of the way. Within a few months, with work and time (and by my 40th birthday!), I began to feel, think, and look like the person I envisioned myself to be. After the experience, I don’t think twice about doing it again and I would encourage others to do the same; to humble themselves, set some goals, and realize those goals with the guidance of someone like Evan and in a space like MUST.

Evan Claxton and the MUST gym are great choices for physical and mental health improvement. The environment at MUST is very friendly and encouraging. Evan Claxton gives those words a new meaning. On top of the welcoming and warm environment at MUST, if Evan Claxton is training you, you will leave feeling refreshed and excited to return. Evan explained his uniquely designed program and expressed the importance of safety for young athletes. I decided to start training with Evan because I wanted to train for the upcoming lacrosse season so I could compete to the best of my ability. Evan helped me achieve this very easily. He created my specialized program to increase my speed and agility. We also did strength training which helped me prepare for weight classes in high school. On top of doing that Evan and I talked about everything in between sets. Evan was patient and supportive of me in the beginning of our four month session while I was figuring out the basics of proper weight training.
