A UKAI Midwest affiliate club. We teach Shotokan Karate. A traditional martial art, with few frills. A blend of several ancient styles, characterized by low, powerful stances and explosive strikes, a complete fighting system. Sensei Claude Smith, of Golden Triangle Karate has been training since 1986 and began his GTK teaching partnership in 2011.
Golden Triangle also is host to the UKAI Midwest "Rocky Mountain Camp". This traditional "Gassuku" happens early August of each year. We teach and train with the best students and instructors from Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana and New Jersey. Watch for details!

As another UKAI Midwest Dojo, we can safely say that Golden Triangle Karate has some of the best instruction in the Midwest region. We have brought students from several states away to come train with them! If you are lucky enough to live near Great Falls, don't hesitate to sign up for their classes.

Golden Triangle Karate, part of the United Karate Associations International (UKAI) organization, offers world class level instruction on how to properly defend yourself. Teaching the Shotokan style of martial arts, Sensei Claude Smith has blended both the traditional techniques with modern concerns of self defense. The level of instruction is exceptional on both a technical and personal level. The care and attention to every detail really sets this Golden Triangle apart from the rest. Since 2011 Golden Triangle has hosted a yearly Camp (Gasshuku) for martial arts practitioners to travel into the mountains of Montana and be able to train, share knowledge, and grow as a community. Instructors from around the United States attend and make it a truly special event. Can't recommend this dojo and instructor enough.

UKAI Midwest (United Karate Association International) is lucky to have GTK. I have traveled all the way from Minnesota many times just to attend their Rocky Mountain Camp! Sensei Claude Smith is an honest instructor who truly cares about his students wellbeing. He has a wealth of knowledge, in particular about how to use Shotokan Karate for self defense and combat. He is an instructor who will teach you techniques that actually work! When I asked for advice years ago on how to teach my own self defense class, Sensei Smith was the first one to offer his assistance to me. If you want to learn karate, how to hit a bag correctly, and how to defend yourself (and you are willing to put in the work and sweat to earn your rank) this is the place for you!

Shotokan Karate at the Golden Triangle (Gym) is a top tier self-defense martial art taught by the UKAI Instructor for effective use in street combat. One is taught to avoid those situations if at all possible. If it isn't possible, techniques to allow the escape are learned. It takes years to train to that level of proficiency.
