I am incredibly unhappy with my experience at the Y overall. I got a membership and signed my girls up for swim lessons. Halfway through the two week session, I am approached during a lesson with an instructor and my youngest, 3 years old. They said she had falling into the pool while the instructor was working with another child and my daughter had to be rescued by the life guard as the instructor didn’t even notice she had fallen in. I HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere for swim lessons. They have completely lost my trust.

I have also had an issue with rude employees, being misinformed about numerous things including membership payments and just an overall feeling of being unwelcome. Don’t waste your money. It’s not worth it.

Arrived as a guest to swim in outdoor pool, with my granddaughter who is a member, traveled an hour to enjoy her YMCA T-ball game and then swim, I paid my $10, 15 minutes later, they're closing the pool, um, whatever in the world is this, why would you not inform me of this when paying? Mary was very unaccountable for not mentioning it, claiming she didn't realize the time, even though there's a clock within 5 feet of her head and a clock at the bottom of the computer screen she had to use to input my info. Obviously I was upset, I asked for like a courtesy pass for my next visit or something.. and yes I know buyer beware, however, when a snot nose kid behind the counter says to another girl oh, we have a KAREN, I lost it, asked for a business card and left, NIT HAPPY, QUITE MAD, IM SURE I SWORE,

My ten year old Grandson went for #1 session of swimming lessons. His teacher was Wyatt a wonderful young man. He dealt with grandson's fears of dunking his head under the water. Wyatt was a great encourager and made it fun for his three charges. We saw confidence increasing in the kids each lesson. Awesome job Wyatt!!!

Extremely Disappointed – Inconsistent Hours and Poor Customer Service

I am very disappointed with my recent experience at the YMCA. According to their website, the facility closes at 6:00 PM, so I drove 30 minutes to bring my daughter for a swim, only to be told that the pool closes at 5:30 PM. This kind of inconsistency is completely unacceptable.

If the pool closes earlier than the rest of the facility, it should be clearly stated both online and at the front desk. How is anyone supposed to know the pool has a different closing time if it’s not communicated properly?

When I brought this up, the staff gave me a half-hearted apology and were extremely rigid about the policy. I wasn’t asking for special treatment—I just wanted the information to be clear and consistent so I could plan accordingly. It’s frustrating and disappointing to be turned away after making such an effort to get there, especially for my child who was excited to swim.

YMCA needs to standardize their hours or at least clearly communicate differences for each facility area. This lack of coordination and poor attitude from the staff have left a very bad impression. I expected better.

Great facility with lots of options. Big locker rooms, the family locker rooms are a nice option. The pool gets a lot of use though, and I’m easily squeaked out by public pools. I’m able to get through a swim, I just wish they had showers out by the pool so people could shower off before getting in.

This Cooper ymca lacks management and structure. There are not enough basketball courts for the amount of kids that are always here. Supervision is lacking. Kids running around the weight rooms, constant cursing in the basketball courts. The machines are always dirty and no one cleans them after use. After using the Copple family y I which the Cooper y was ran the same way.

A while ago, we took our son to the YMCA. Our goal was to help him get used to their daycare while we worked out.

When we arrived at the daycare, my husband told one of the staff members that I would stay with our son for a short time until he felt comfortable with the environment and caregivers, and then I would join him for our workout. One of the staff members immediately said, “You can only stay for 10 to 15 minutes. That’s our policy.” We had no choice but to agree. My husband left to work out, and I stayed.

However, as soon as he left, the staff member called the manager, as if I had committed a crime! They didn’t even wait to see if I would leave after 10 minutes—they called the manager right away. Thankfully, they didn’t call the police!!!!!!

The manager showed up and stood there watching me. In the meantime, I tried to leave three times, but my son noticed and got upset, so I couldn’t go. I even told one of the staff members, “I’ll be waiting outside. If you need me, just call me.”

As soon as the 10 minutes were up, the manager immediately came to me and told me to leave. I tried to explain my son’s situation—he was only 15 months old, and it was natural for him to be scared in a new place with new people—but the manager showed no empathy, no flexibility, and simply repeated, “This is our policy.” Then, they forced me to leave.

I was frustrated by their lack of understanding. When they saw that I was upset, they offered a half-hearted apology, but it was clear they didn’t really care. Just five minutes later, my son started crying, so I had to take him out.

When my husband came back and tried to talk to the manager, they accused me of slamming the door—how is that even possible when the door has a soft-close mechanism?

It’s truly disappointing that such a large organization would hire a daycare manager with zero understanding of children’s needs and no ability to listen to parents. Instead of considering different situations, they rigidly stick to their so-called “policy” and act as if that makes them professional. If you don’t know how to manage a child-friendly environment, it’s better to either shut it down or reconsider your choice of employees.

Beautiful YMCA a bunch of amenities, very clean but the customer service was very much lacking! With 2 people behind the counter one of them was on the phone for 10-15 minutes (did not seem to be a work related conversation) The guy in front of me had a couple kids with him and after 5 minutes they sat down at chairs. One smile you're right with you or any type of anything customer service wise whatsoever So 20 minutes after arriving I just left.
BUT WANT TO GIVE PROPS TO THE JANITORIAL WORKERS OF THIS PLACE IT LOOKS AMAZING!!

Great place for families and youth. The only Lincoln YMCA with a climbing wall. Their wall has 5 routes that go about 25 feet high. Wonderful way for youth of all ages to learn and enjoy this sport. This YMCA also has an indoor and outdoor pool with swimming lessons. They also offer a variety of classes; Zumba, Gymnastics, Dance, Cycling, and so much more. There are 2 work out areas with plenty of treadmills, free weights, and machines. There are also 3 basketball courts. One of which is designated for youth under 13. The staff are friendly and helpful.

This Y is super spacious. Our boys love the rock climbing wall. We love that they have an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. They have plenty of opportunities for instructor lead classes and weight training.

This is my first review on google ever. I really want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staffs today in the late afternoon . The young gentleman worked in the office of second floor gym, the gentleman and young lady worked in the climbing area, the young ladies worked at the front desk, and another young lady in light color outfit. I am sorry that I didn’t know their names, but I hope they can see my thankfulness and respect to them here. I made a mistake today, I left my fanny bag with all my important things in it in somewhere , but I thought I lost it. All the staffs tried their best to help me to find it, they are so kind and helpful and patient. When I finally got my bag, they couldn’t help clapping to show their happiness for me, which was so cute and empathetic. This is my first day going to YMCA as a membership holder, I would love to recommend YMCA , especially Cooper YMCA to everyone I know.

I love working out here, it’s so clean and all the staff is so friendly. I just wish the weekend hours were consistent. Sunday mornings are packed for me, so coming in at 8 feels rushed, and it’s pretty busy right when it opens. It’s difficult for me to remember what days they open at 7 and what days they open at 8. I’ll be setting a note in my phone directly after this to avoid waking/showing up an hour early in the future. But if the Sunday hours change to 7 that would be even better!

The management at this Y are not “friendly”neighbors. After years of dealing with noxious weeds, the city finally made them mow, trim, and remove poison ivy bushes across the fence. The YMCA built their pool without the proper permit, built the berm too low, somehow the city approved it afterwards. They repeatedly play their music loud, and the noise from the pool is so loud you can hear it inside our houses. When trying to address issues with the administration, they give nasty, rude responses without attempting to sit down and discuss options. If you wish to support this YMCA, please understand the principles the YMCA supports as an organization are not reflected here.

I did not actually visit this YMCA but I was looking for a health club with a pool because of my new insurance will pay for a gym membership Unfortunately they will not accept my insurance but here's a tip. They have a program for low income people where they will reduce their monthly fee to roughly half and that also includes daily visits which knocks them down to 6 bucks! Well worth checking into if you are in a low income bracket!!

I worked here in high school and have been working out here for over 10 years. This place is really on the decline. I’m not sure if it’s management or the outcome of a nonprofit org, but it’s not as it should be. Kids are consistently running around work out areas. Machines aren’t maintained. Child activity schedules like dance and private swim lessons aren't always reliable for scheduling, we've had instructors show up late or not at all. What they do have, I'm happy with.
