I checked out this gym a few days ago after work, and it turned out to be better than I expected. The equipment looks pretty new and there’s a good amount of space so you’re not bumping into people during your sets. The staff at the front desk was helpful when I had a quick question about a machine I hadn’t used before. It wasn’t overly crowded, which is a big plus for me. The only thing I noticed is the music was a bit louder than my usual taste, but nothing crazy. Overall, solid place to get a workout in and I’d prob come back again.

Genesis is pricing out amenities from their base plan. For example, there are no longer safe basketball courts at any location that’s accessible with a base membership. At the same time, premium and platinum clubs have known and complained-about issues such as leaking ceilings, unsafe stairs and railing, unsanitary locker rooms, etc. If you value honesty, safety, and minimal corporate policy (greed) affecting your gym of choice, none of these clubs are for you.

I would just like to take a second to say thank you so much to Jason the district manager At health Genesis club I was in town for some medical stuff with family and I informed him of what’s going on and he assisted me in getting a short term gym pass so that I can continue to Go to the gym, even though I’m not at my gym where I live out of state.

This is what separates good customer service from great customer service. Jason was absolutely amazing and I just truly wanted to say thank you

I've worked with 2 personal trainers on their staff, one who is no longer there and Liv. Both are incredible trainers. Liv specifically is the kind of trainer for someone who has struggled feeling comfortable in the gym. She takes an interest in what may be a roadblock to your success and will help you work around it. She's also extremely competent, I suffered an injury a few weeks back and she developed workouts around the injury so I could keep the physical and mental momentum I had. 10/10, she's an asset to the gym and anyone she trains.

UPDATE: The locker room and shower room along with the rest of the gym are going through a complete remodel right now. They are making good progress. I'm looking forward to the new look!

When I last reviewed this gym, I mentioned the great staff, friendly members, and good overall atmosphere, but noted the men's shower room was in desperate need of an update.
Well, consider that update done—and then some! The men's shower room has been completely remodeled and is awesome.
Furthermore, the entire club is absolutely beautiful now. The remodel has made the space feel new, spacious, and modern. The staff is exceptional, always professional, attentive, and welcoming.

If you haven't been back since the remodel, you're missing out. It's the same great community, but in a world-class facility. Highly recommended!

The absolute best west Omaha gym! The remodel rocks, the pool is great. It’s almost like time sensitive lighting where it gets darker in the evenings. The steam room is to die for and gives you a great place to recoop between workouts. The kids club is as good as it gets and my daughter often doesn’t want to leave. Cool machines but worst service ive ever had, I got pulled aside for a mistake and sent into an office where i think the manager talked to me and started making claims that were untrue and rude. He was saying I was trying to do something I wasn't and telling me he has seen me in this gym doing the same thing. This was my first time here. I eventually had to pay a 20$ fee even though I had a card I forgot at home.

I’ve been with Genesis Health Clubs since they were 24 Hour Fitness. Although I miss body pump group fitness classes, the club makes up for it in so many others ways, plus they offer Group Power class which is similar. The club on Center specifically is one of my favorites, I’ll never switch gyms.

If looking to join be sure to ask for him and he will answer all your questions and make sure all of your needs are met. The only disappointment currently is the hot tub is not working but, the staff has told me they expect it to be up and running by fall.

The newly remodeled Genesis Health Club at 132nd and Center is absolutely beautiful. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the difference—it's well-maintained, thoughtfully designed, and staffed by some of the most personable and professional people around. The team is attentive, caring, and genuinely seems to enjoy working at a place where a neon sign boldly proclaims, “Success is an Attitude!”

Owner Rodney Steven has truly given Omaha something special with this club. It’s more than a gym—it’s a community asset, and it’s clear a lot of heart went into creating this space.

My only wish is that some members would show more respect for the facility and the hard work the staff puts in. Unfortunately, a few folks don’t do their part to keep the place clean, which is disappointing. Still, the staff is incredibly diligent and consistently go above and beyond to maintain the club’s high standards.

Honestly, I almost didn’t want to leave this glowing review—I selfishly wish I could keep this place a secret to limit the foot traffic! But the community deserves to know about this amazing club. Highly recommend!

Always try to find a way to take more money from you even if you're using any of their services or not. Just got a $41 annual membership taking out of my bank account yesterday but they need a 30-day notice because they're really struggling dirty sales is dirty sales. I've been with this gym for years and years and giving them thousands of dollars but they always beg cheat lying steel to try to get more. Not to mention when I first originally signed up the salesman was under so much flag for all the lying that he had to flee state from all the other angry clients that he had signed up and lied to.

I do not understand why children are allowed to “work out” with their parents. Hang on equipment and not move when I ask if I can utilize equipment. Today I decided to visit 132nd location after ongoing issues with operations at Cass St. I met with Ass. Club Manager Tessa, who was welcoming and very professional. The club was clean and everything was in working order with the exception of the wet area which was being renovated. I felt so good being in a clean place to work on my fitness goals. Went in to cancel membership half a year ago and get told, “unfortunately you’re still in contract so you can pay $100 early termination or we can put your account on pause and once we’re past your contract end date, come in and cancel to avoid the fee”

Fast forward to 6 months later, go in just to get told that none of the time counted for the contract and still have to pay $100 and get charged another $100 for the membership because of the 30 day notice. Genesis is a scam regardless with refusing to cancel over the phone and skipping over important cancellation policies. Go to VASA or any other gym it’s less than $20 a month.

I signed up for a membership and after giving two locations a try, I found it wasn't for me. I canceled after 24 hours, well within the 3 day right to cancel period. I was assured I would receive a refund of the up front fees I'd paid "in a week or two". I waited a month, then contacted them. I got "the check is in the mail" response a few times. The pool has been closed since mid-November for a month or two reno, that's eight months ago now. If you call to ask when the pool will reopen, the answer depends on who picks up the phone. If you call three times in one day, you probably gonna get three different answers. The communication (to the members who continue to pay their monthly fee) is horrible. The semi-monthly updates are empty words that say little (i.e.: we're finalizing a plan . . . " and define nothing in terms of opening expectations. Seems like they want to collect our monthly fees, string us along, not provide service or information, hope we don't notice and continue to pay. This location had a great pool. The aquatics instructors are the BEST, but that's no good if the pool is not open.

Don’t get me wrong, this club will be amazing once the remodel is done but……when will that be?? I’ve been a member now for a couple months and was told at that time that opening day was right around the corner and yet here we are with a limited amount of space being of use (none of which I need such as showers, locker rooms, hot tub so….waste of my money). This gym is truly starting to become such a joke. We’ve been enduring construction for over six months. There are four treadmills available and today when I came in - those were all not working. I pay $100+ a month and for what…a barely functioning facility with no showers, one working sink in the women’s locker room and less than 20 functioning pieces of cardio equipment. The hourly staff is nice enough - which is the only reason I’m finding it in my heart to leave two stars on this review instead of one. Why not do construction in phases instead of all at once. I’ll be cancelling my membership here shortly.

ETA: I did cancel my membership and am now going to a much nicer, newer gym with a significant amount of more equipment that actually gets cleaned regularly. And no - the “added convenience” or “upgrade” of being able to go to other genesis gyms did not help. You should have only worked on parts of the gym at a time and/or significantly reduced fees during the remodel period. Closing the gym down was the last straw that pushed my husband and I to cancel and switch gyms.

Ive been going here for 2 months now - great location and close to home. I am very excited for the renovation as the entire gym is outdated, run down and dirty. I have confidence this will improve once complete...however, it doesn't matter if the gym is up to date or not if it is not maintained. When I signed up, I specifically asked how often the equipment and overall space was cleaned. I was told all equipment is cleaned multiple times a day. I have gone various days at many different times - and never once have I seen an employee cleaning (nor the other members after they are done).

Today, I used a handful of machines and cleaned it before/after each use - when I was done, my towel was black. They replenish the towels and rely on members to clean up after themselves which, in my opinion is fine, but that must be communicated to the members bc they are not doing it! If I do not see a change, I will cancel after my 6 months. I understand finding help is tough right now. Planet Fitness is spotless because they properly communicate to their members that they must wipe down machines - feel free to go that route Genesis! Please do something!

Genesis better get ready for a lawsuit. The boiling hot showers that don’t turn off and run 24/7 have burnt me multiple times. They clearly don’t value their customers safety or health. The shower area is disgusting, the steam room smells like feces and mildew, and the hot tub always has a rim of sludge around it. This place has definitely gone way way way down hill since Genesis acquired it. Hope the health inspector doesn’t see this post…

The one on 132nd north of Center to me is not ADA Compliant. It has maybe three or four handicap parkings which are not convenient to the entrance of the building. The driveway is full of chuck holes where you park your car. It's like a one-way Street one way in and one way out and it's an impossibility to get across 132nd street. Two of the three times I use the pool it had been filled with ice cold water which made it impossible to do exercises. The ladies room a couple of the sinks are not in working order and the ladies have a hot tub but the stairs are inadequate both in and out of the hot tub. The restroom doors have broken locks. And the hot tub for everyone to use by the pool has been broke for 4 years. I have heard several complaints from other members who say they've been promised and promised and promised that they're going to remodel this Center. I was told that it would be this month I don't believe it. I don't know why there are no rules or regulations to oversee a place like this that is selling you something that they don't produce.

I just had my first massage with Kaye Smalley, our new massage therapist. I am just thrilled that she has joined the Genesis staff at my club, and I will be using her very often. I am almost 65 and I’ve had a few massages in my lifetime :-). This young woman is truly exceptional.

Somehow keeps getting worse. If you want a drink of water, you've been out of luck for at least a year. If you want to use the dry sauna, I've only had it reach the proper temp once in the last year. If you want to use the hot tub in the men's room, it hasn't worked for a few months. The hot tub by the pool jets' do not work either. The showers haven't worked properly since Genesis bought the place, and worse... since you can't close the faucet it wastes gallons of hot water in a min. If you want to use the location on 102nd they said it's 5$ per visit. I honestly don't know how the place is still in business. And then they have the audacity to raise rates. Typical corporate where management takes all the funds instead of putting it in the company? If you only use free weights and resistance bands with no amenities, this is your gym.

Been a member for 25 years, seen many take overs. Genesis is the worest. Most dirtiest men’s locker room I have ever been in.
The dirt is piling up in the shower, vents are full of mold, no lights in the sauna, or in the steam room, only 3 showers work out of 12.
I am very disgusted.

This would be a great gym if it had a bit of a face lift and was a little cleaner. Hottub floor is dirty, and can see particles skimming all across the top of the water. They need to lay out rubber floor mats in the pool area so the floors arent so slippery. Bathrooms are also very dirty most of the time. Staff always seems friendly and top floor with the weights/track are in better shape than the rest of the gym.

Love that this gym is close to home and has amenities such as a whirlpool tub, sauna, steam room, pool. Also the staff here is amazing. I am however unsatisfied with the condition of this gym. The stair machines are always broken, whirlpool tub broken, no water, ac broken, showers are grungy. Not sure why there is no pride being taken in this gym but someone needs to fix it up!

Signed a 6-month contract for my teenage son. Called today to see when it expires, I was told it expired yesterday but rolls over automatically into a month-to-month situation. And that I need to come in in person to give them a “30-day written notice.” WHAT IS THE POINT OF A CONTRACT? It is worse than an apartment lease. I don’t even personally work out here, and now I have to take time to go into their facility to cancel. I asked where I signed this as I signed up online. It took the site manager a good 45 minutes to doctor up some forms and send them to me. None of them containing my actual writing. On top of this, three months ago, I was charged a $58 “maintenance fee.” This is such a racket. I will never be a member here and will stick with the YMCA, which as a nonprofit doesn’t squeeze money out of their members through shady fees and contract extensions.

Locker rooms are terribly dirty, things are broken frequently, and just a general lack of caring from upper level management. Finally cancelled my membership. I would certainly urge others to look elsewhere for a gym.

I’ve been a member at this gym for around 13 years- first when it was Prairie Life, then The Athletic Club. It has gone downhill since Genesis took over. A few of the issues: broken drinking fountain, only 1 of the 5 stairclimbers is currently working, other broken machines that seem to take FOREVER to get fixed. They increase
the number of members but then there’s not enough towels. It’s just constant and very disappointing considering the condition this gym used to be in. I’m typically not one to complain but something needs to change. It was WAY better when it was Prairie Life and Athletic Club.

The equipment is nice, and that's what matters for the most part. Outdoor pool is cool. Staff is nice. Place is clean. But literally everything else is dated, broken, or falling apart. This would be a fantastic gym in the '70s.

The gym is ok. Needs a facelift. My biggest issue is with the showers in the men's locker room. Most of them don't work. The ones that due are scalding. I am surprised that they meet safety codes. Someone could burn themselves.

The staff and trainers at this location are amazing! They all put in the work to keep this gym running smoothly and I know some of the staff by name as I have been working out here since October. However, management definitely drag their feet when it comes to the facilities maintenance. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and some time for the amenities this place has such as the showers, sauna, and hot tub in the men’s locker room to be fixed. The hot tub for instance only is in operation about 25% of the time it seems. Additionally, only about 3 showers of the 15 or so work correctly in the men’s locker room an issue that has been going on for months now. I would definitely consider these things before getting a membership to this place since there are locations with comparable equipment and working amenities at a lower price. I hope this gets fixed or something with upper level management changes but I do not see this happening in the foreseeable future. (I would also like to mention I have spoken with many other patrons who have expressed their concerns to management via email, sometimes multiple times, and nothing has yet to be done 🤷‍♂️.)

This Gym has the worst Locker rooms I think I have ever seen...BLACK MOLD. It is never cleaned. And nothing works. Half of the showers are broken and have been that way for 6 months or more.

The childcare at this specific facility has gone downhill from what it used to be. I’ve been exploring new options as I don’t feel comfortable leaving my children in the child care facilities anymore. My childrens safety is my first concern. There’s been a lack of professionalism with the staff when I’ve addressed theses issues. If you’re exploring gyms and your first priority is childcare I would look else where.

This place is terrible and dirty!! All dirt over the pool, dirty floors, hot tub spa smells bad! The shower is so stinky!! Never coming back!
I canceled my membership and they still charge me for another month!

The pool is disgusting. It is constantly full of hair, dirt, bugs, bandages, you name it (I saw a legit clump of hair the size of my fist the other day). The chemicals are consistently unbalanced which make for a nasty chlorine smell and extremely cloudy water. I can't speak to how the staff is, I've only heard about 20 words from them since I started going 3 months ago. Only giving two stars instead of one because I haven't used anything in the gym besides the pool and locker room. So I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope the rest of the gym is better than the nasty pool. I plan to look elsewhere for a place to swim.

Jenna At the front desk was amazing. We really appreciated her good customer service. I would recommend this place to anybody and she was very helpful and told me that the kids can swim in the pool as long as they're with their parent not every gym in Genesis as as accommodating as this one

The worst accounting system ever! Watch you automatic payments and how much they choose to take out each month or not take out. They will call you every month regarding their clerical errors because they can’t seem to figure it out. Athletic Club had it together, but a year plus now Genesis can’t figure out their billing- beware! I have automatic payment setup and they still can’t compare it with my contract and take out the right amount of dues each month. Good luck trying to find someone there that can correct it and figure it out!!

The mens locker room is disgusting. Steam room stinks of urine and the entire locker room hasn't been deep cleaned in what looks like years. Good to know membership money is being well spent when i saw several employees sitting around on their phones.

First day at the gym was great. Took a water aerobics class and had lots of fun. They weren't able to get me my membership card today because I signed up online the day before and wasn't in the system. Went to cancel when I was out of contract, even called the month before for instructions, was told to call back to cancel. Called and was told I have to come in to sign paperwork, showed up and was told that I have to provide them with a 30 day notice (was not told this over the phone either time) and that I would have to pay for an additional month even though I no longer live close to any of their location's.

More expensive than the Y but with similar features. The hot tub by the pool is so gross. Piles of sediment and sand at the bottom. I haven't received my free training sessions yet. Otherwise the other members seem friendly enough. Staff is helpful. The hottub is the big thing.

Unfortunately this location continues to move in the wrong direction. Most times there are no towels on weekend mornings. I understand there are staffing problems everywhere but the towel issue could be fixed with small process improvements. Wash towels 3hrs before close each evening, put them in dryer.... magical clean towels in the morning.

I can look past the lack of cleanliness if there were some towels to clean things off....but cleaning the locker rooms thoroughly at least once a quarter shouldn't be that hard to accomplish and it would go a long way of removing built up filth.

The past 6 months at this place have been exceptional! The staff is really awesome. John, the GM, is friendly and has hired some really great people! Everyone from the front counter staff to even the guy who runs the bar. They’re all great. If my day is not going well, this place is always a pick me up. I started working with Trenton and he has motivated me to lift heavier than I ever have! I have no doubt that they will help me reach the goals
