Genesis fitness gave me a really hard time just trying to get some basic information out of them and were very rude when I expressed that I didn't want to fill out a bunch of paperwork and commit to a full 30-minute tour. I told them I was mostly interested in what kinds of activities my kids could do while I'm there - my thought process being "I don't want my kids to be bored while I'm working out." I told them I was on a time crunch, just visiting over my lunch break. The young man at the front desk was nice enough, but the Asian man (who seemed to be the young man's superior) would not permit me to get any more information without filling out paperwork and making commitments. Instead of answering any of my questions, he just bypassed them all and was like "The full tour is 30 minutes, can you come back this weekend?" - Bro, I just wanted info about how my kids would be taken care of while I'm there, I expressed I didn't need a full tour. I visited THREE other gyms today and NONE of them gave me such hassle - they were all super friendly and accommodating, while Genesis was the complete opposite of that. When I told the Asian man never mind, he just goes "Have a nice day" in the most stuck-up arrogant tone you could possibly imagine. This whole interaction was maybe 3 minutes long, but it was sure long enough to make me decide I would never do business with Genesis fitness.

Normally i dont write reviews but i am this time. Before coming here i always told myself that I would get back into shape i wasnt out of shape super badly but i didn't like who i was. And this place helped me out tremendously. I was in a cut and lost ten pounds and got down to a 13.1% body fat all thanks to my personal trainer. Absolutely love this place 10 out of 10 recommend!

The Club Manager at the O Street Location, Jimmy, is a *Rockstar*!

I have been going to this location for nearly 10 years since it was Aspen, Gold's Gym, and now Genesis. I have never once had a bad experience with staff at any point over my 10 year tenure.

I added by wife to the account about 2 years ago when we got married. Just yesterday, my wife was mistreated at a different Genesis location over a billing dispute. My wife was pressured by the club manager at 70th & A street to re-sign a new membership agreement through high pressure sales tactics. I was not happy with how my wife was treated at all. I called the 70th & A location to address the billing dispute and mistreatment of my wife but got no response.

I went into the O Street location which has been my home base for almost 10 years as mentioned above. The Club Manager Jimmy immediately had me sit at his desk. Jimmy was able to resolve the billing dispute in less than 5 minutes and had my account back to how it should have been. Jimmy apologize for the 70th & A location manager's behavior. Jimmy was empathetic, calm, cool, collected, and most importantly he was competent. The customer service displayed by Jimmy was 110%! Jimmy fixed this situation in about 5 minutes and I got right into my lift.

Things I like about the O Street Location:

Sauna - the sauna absolutely COOKS. It is always hot, about 200 degrees which is what you want in a sauna. The top shelf is hottest in the city.

Crowd - the O street location has a good crowd. Minimal high schoolers messing around, minimal "hardcore" lifters doing weird things or being obnoxious

Traffic - at prime time 5pm or prime time 5:30am, the overall traffic in the gym is manageable. You are able to get your work done on both cardio and equipment/free weight without a wait for the most part

Space - the open floor plan allows for room to walk around or stretch in between sets/lifts. It is not claustrophobic or tightly packed.

Kid's Club - not near as busy as some other locations. Attendants are great. The other day my son was the only one in there as the attendant was reading him a book!

I rarely write reviews. Only when something really good or really bad happens. Shout out to Jimmy for his competency and calm, cool, collected response to fixing someone else's mess up!

Moved here from out of state and was looking for a new gym. My previous gym membership (LA fitness) was $50 a month and it included 2 free unlimited guest passes, access to any gym in the area, and all classes were included, like palates and yoga etc. I was shocked to hear that the basic Genesis membership was $55 a month and did NOT include any of that. You could pay like $70 to use any gym in the area but still no frequent guest passes or all-inclusive classes. Plus I was unable to get an actual price of the membership until I showed up to the gym to talk to a rep, the website makes you jump through hoops to find the membership price by making you give them all your info. And then when I gave up my info they called me at least 10 times to get me to come in and check it out. Once there to check it out I discovered that the gym is pretty outdated, and the thing that really threw me in for a loop is that it is almost entirely carpeted? A gym floor is meant to get sweaty and dirty and cleaned often, so most gyms choose tile or rubber. Definitely noticed some staining.. I wouldn’t feel comfortable working out there.

I would rate this 0 star if I could but instead I would like to warn off as many people as possible from signing up at this gym. Sure, they have great facilities that have plenty of equipment and machines, but the minute you want to cancel you are in for the worst possible customer service experience imaginable. So originally when I went to cancel (this was over a year ago) I went to this location and worked with someone there. He told me that by cancelling that day I would have to pay a cancellation fee of $200. Obviously I thought that was insane so I asked how can I do this without the fee. The employee then told me to freeze my account and I did. I froze it for 3 months and then came back in to close it. When I came back in, the same employee helped me and had me sign paperwork with the fee taken off. He told me that I was done and I would not have anything to worry about. But believe it or not, I was not done! In fact they kept charging me for over a year!! (Granted this was my fault for not noticing it but still) During this time where I was still being charged I had received several calls from Genesis. Not one of them telling me that my cancellation could not be processed. (Which I would find out later on) Once I caught on, I came back in to get it cancelled (again). The employee who helped me this time was an assistant manager and told me about the cancellation not being processed due to the fee not being taken out. Reluctantly I paid the monthly dues again and the cancellation fee. I signed paperwork again to cancel and hoped it was finally the end. Today, a month after this, I received another call telling me more bad news. There was yet another fee to be paid! $76 this time, for a month of membership which was not paid earlier on. I accepted this and asked for it to be paid off my existing payment method. Of course, the idiot on the phone told me this was not doable, since they NEED people to come in person to pay for this specific charge. So now I am coming in again for a third time to attempt to cancel. Folks, please do not make the same mistake I did. Choose the YMCA, Anytime, Planet Fitness, or really anywhere else. This place is not worth your time and money these people steal from you.

For the price we pay monthly I would expect much better. Equipment is down for months. When my husband and I started here a year ago the same equipment and bathroom stall was out of service. We asked many times about the tanning beds getting fixed. Bulbs are out and never got fixed. I have mentioned this many times and never fixed. I was happy spending the extra money to expect better. As I went in to cancel my membership the manager asked why but didn’t seem to care about the issues at this location.

Staff is great. I normally go to another location but tried this one. Equipment is older. Locker rooms are older one bathroom stall and one shower stall was out of order. Trash on bathroom floor. Showers onky have soap my other location offers shampoo and conditioner. This location also has one tanning bed but when I went to use 4 bulbs were burnt out in the middle and its very old looking so I just didnt do it.
I dont know why all the tanning beds are old at the locations just get a stand up and newer.

One of my friends worked here back in February 2023 and so I decided to look online to see what memberships go for. The website made me put in my contact info just to see prices, which I didn't like. I got skeevy vibes from it. Information should be freely accessible on your website, not hidden behind a trap. I then got a call a few days later asking if I wanted to try a free 7 day pass. I was interested in it until they said that it was only for 7 consecutive days, I couldn't pick and choose. I said with my work schedule, it wouldn't be worth it and the price of a membership was too expensive for me anyway. Even though I said I wasn't interested, they still keep calling me. I answered the first few times, and then went to just ignoring them. They called me again today and I just blocked the number. Word of advice: learn to take "no" for an answer!

This is one of my favorite gyms. I like it because it is laid out well. There are no frills, just people who like to work out. The 5 - 6am crowd is fast paced and no surprises. Let me get my workout done. 8-12 are the "friendlies". I have a bit more time and I like the people around me. The afternooners are similar. The 4-7 are the serious socializers! The gym itself and equipment is pretty nice, but the staff...not so much. The girl who worked the Sunday kids club today didn't look at or greet us when we walked in I had to ask if she worked there. Felt reluctant about leaving my toddler there, but did. It didn't seem like she moved from her chair and was zoned in on her phone when I picked my girl up. Didn't say anything to me then either.
Weeks ago, I had personal training set up with someone and he was late to the initial meeting and then ghosted the actual first training session. The people working here seem to lack morale, like they'd rather be elsewhere. Not inviting at all.

The gym is well-organized, clean, and in good repair. When machines are out of order they are well marked and appear to be quickly repaired. The variety of exercise equipment available is quite exhaustive. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the trainers are both experienced and motivating. The fees are reasonable for the product provided.As a side note the other members of the gym seem to be cordial and non-judgmental of people in varying levels of physical fitness.
