The customer service at this location is great! We mostly worked with Korey and Frank, and they were super helpful. I really appreciate the range of flexible packages they have for folks in town for short term visits. The facility has all the equipment you’d need, a nice basketball court, and sauna.

Hardest company to cancel a membership with. Great gym other then everything is always broke down sauna, steam room, pool.
After 7-8 months calling, drove up to this location 2 different times when a supervisor would be in to be able to file my request, filed a BBB complaint, numerous UNWANTED calls by them asking for payment when I have been trying to cancell this since the beginning of the year THEY now fixed it! Thank you for making me jump threw hoops to cancel a NON CONTRACT MEMEBERSHIP!! I also never signed a contract and stated that 100 times! Vasa here I come off of Fort crook here in Bellevue!!

I was visiting from out of state for two weeks and needed a place to work out. The staff here were extremely welcoming, and the facility had everything I needed—clean equipment, a great variety of machines and free weights, and a friendly atmosphere. It was easy to feel comfortable and motivated here, even as a temporary guest. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be my go-to gym. Highly recommend!

I have been a member at Genesis Health Clubs for the past 3 years, I have been to almost every location in Omaha. Each has their own pros and cons. But Tara Plaza is by far the best location in town. Does it have the newest equipment? No, but it has quality machines that are well maintained, I have seen a machine broken at most for maybe 2 days, MAYBE! Other locations machines, sinks, or even urinals are down for weeks to months. I don’t need to be greeted at the door but boy does it make me feel good and want to come back everytime the front desk person wishes me a good workout on the way in and a good day on the way out. The staff clearly cares for the members and gym as a whole. To put it plainly….I drive past 2 other locations just to workout at Tara Plaza! Thank You!

Ignore the fake smiles. Trainers are just gossipy judgemental people. They're too superficial to know how to create a professional environment to provide satisfactory customer service. If you're looking for some hgh or to hop on stage it might be okay but, If you're a beginner or someone who's overcome injuries and trying to get back to working out these are trainers you want to avoid.

Unfortunately with a place that falls constantly behind on maintenance, it doesn't have the quality customer service to justify the price they charge. The equipment in general is mostly torn up. There are some decent machines but should be in way better condition for the price. The basketball court is well over due for replacement, at this point the court is a complete safety hazard with how warped the boards are. Sad enough they don't have the ability to renovate the court but half the time they don't even replace torn nets for weeks to months.

They do have a decent cleaning crew but the staff is incapable of maintaining the gym the hours they aren't there to clean, so the gym usually gets left in a constant state of funk to put it nicely.

Really wouldn't recommend this gym. But, there also might be some better staffs at other locations that might make it worth while. There have been some decent staffs to roll through but with the constant staff overturn you never know.

Great place super clean wish dumbbells were a bit more organized and watch out for the mat at the dumbbell area as my foot stepped right at the edge and twisted my ankle while carrying a 70 pound dumbbell and fell in front of a full gym EMBARRASSING but everyone was great and helped me get up all gum members no workers involved definitely need to stretch mat under the dumbbell rack to prevent this from happening

The gym itself is fine, but just understand that Genesis isn’t like other gyms that charge you a flat monthly fee & cancel anytime. Instead, the contract you sign with them is full of fees and clauses that are designed to discourage you from canceling your membership. They also force you to come in person to cancel to sign a document so they can give you the sales pitch.

Basically, they’re the payday lending of gyms.

More outrageous, they still charged me the following month after my 30-day notice expired. Yes, it was an honest mistake and they will be refunding me. However they told me it will be 2 weeks before I hear back from them about when I can expect my money back.

It’s infuriating that a company that locks you into a predatory contract and holds you to it “because you agreed to it” thinks that it has the right to hold onto money that is rightfully mine when we are no longer in a contractual relationship.

According to Nebraska law, “A person is guilty of theft if he or she takes, or exercises control over, movable property with the intent to deprive him or her thereof.”

Yes, the accidental charge was an honest mistake. But willfully holding onto my money and dictating the terms by which I can expect to have it returned to me is depriving me of what rightfully belongs to me. It should be returned immediately!

I love Samantha Burns when joining this gym I was very self conscious of going and not having much experience. My first free session was with the manger of personal training. I had problems with him not wanting to listen to me and was mainly focused on my boyfriend’s health rather then listening to what I wanted for my health. When he set me up with Samantha that changed my whole perspective. I was really tempted to quit because of how he made me feel. I talked to Samantha about it and she made me feel heard and comfortable. She did everything at my pace and showed me how to work things. She didn’t seem like a trainer but more as a friend. Even after the free sessions she still texts me how I’m doing and if there is anything she can do for me. She is very organized with her workout plans and more sure you feel comfortable doing them. She even got me to go to the free weights part of the gym! My boyfriend even noticed how comfortable I am with her! She made me feel so comfortable and will definitely be training with her in the future! Thank you Samantha for everything you have done for me and helping me gain confidence and feeling good about myself!

When I first started coming to this gym, everybody was so wonderful. Now it's an effort for getting things done. I work out in the movie room and every single day. I have to ask them to turn on the movie. As usual the movie is not working and they don't come and check on it. The sinks in the ladies restaurant locker room all three of them were out for a few days and they left the dirty nasty water in the sink. I originally started at the 132nd St. location. I stopped going there cause they decide to remodel making it inconvenient for me to do any workouts and Water aerobics that I originally signed up for. I switched to Genesis thinking I was getting a higher quality gym. I am currently very disappointed and plan on canceling my membership.

It's unfortunate that this gym is near and dear to my heart. I come regardless of the issues it faces but this place is getting ridiculous. The a/c has been out for days and has suffered these issues in the past. With all the humidity everything is slick, especially the floor. I watched someone slip off a machine trying to get out of it yesterday. There is still a hole in the side of the building covered by plywood - for going on 2 years? There are 18 basketballs on the court and only ONE has a decent amount of air in it. Staff are constantly on their phone and don't give a damn about anything. Lately it's been smelling like a gym sock, all over the place. There are several machines that do not work and a few of which I have placed cables back on the pulleys and got to work myself.
The trainers there are actually decent people but the rest of the staff, c'mon. Do better. If you're planning on going here, look elsewhere. I've been coming here on and off for nearly 20 years and I won't be far behind.

June 17th, 8pm - Went in to cancel my 6 month membership with the proper 30 day notice. Was told I couldn't cancel it until my membership was over (???) and to come back at the end of the 6 months when I could then give a proper 30 day notice (even though I am sitting right in front of the guy giving my notice) - Meaning I would have to pay an extra month and come back in person again.

This felt like a backward system and my complaints were met with sales tactics dismissing. I was sent away with no help that night. In my car I looked up my actual contract which had an exit clause.

I took that back in and showed the paperwork and was eventually able to cancel my contract - 30 minutes that should have been 3 minutes or even done online, you all are worse than a car dealership in terms of upselling/BSing. Luckily the guy I was dealing with was nice and just new.

Icing on the cake was the girl at the reception desk - zero work ethic (refused for a minute to reprint my termination document when I came back in even though they messed up in the first place), also kept hassling me on my fitness life, I quote "I dont know what you're going through but..." and after asking me where my new gym was at she responded "ew, gross.."

Very unprofessional, not fun, 3/10 will never be back to these gyms.

The state of the building has been in disrepair for about a year now. There's still a giant amount of window missing from the front of the building from Fall last year. The grout in the steam room tile has some darkness on it that I feel would be an easy scrub to get out to make it not look so moldy.

If I could give this gym 0 stars I would. I have attempted to go in to cancel my membership on three different occasions with no one at the front desk. I sent two different emails through membership portal and have yet to get a response. When I called this morning to cancel they said I had to cancel in person(pretty difficult when no one is ever at the front desk)… this gym is filthy, half of the equipment is broken and the pool is dirty green. I signed up online and have only worked out there one time because it’s gross and over crowded. Do not sign up at this gym.

Dave at the front desk is amazing. He helps in any situation and is very dependable. He makes me feel safe while exercising. Always doing g what he can to make sure all the towels are ready for us and greets each of us upon arrival. Alex at the front desk at night is also someone I can depend on. Always greets us and has a smile, great eye contact. Liz the personal trainer has been great to help me understand the weight machines. I very much appreciate the man who takes care of the pool. Would request that the water be turned up a little warmer in the showers. Would truly appreciate a swimsuit spinner and fix the disability shower chair that should be attached to the wall. Very friendly staff, but the place is a mess. I've brought it up to the staff and manager several times. They always just say, "oh well, what can you do. " the staff has great advice, even when they're off the clock working out in their own time, they're still willing to help you. Just wish they'd clean the place up. I just had to step over a 45lb bar while writing this, abd I'm three steps behind the manager. So they clearly don't care. But seriously, everyone here is friendly, even the fellow customers. I can always get a spotter, or share equipment with people, I just know that very few people will clean up after themselves.

This location has a decent selection, however, it seems that alot of equipment is broken and out of commission. One of the other locations wins awards for best in Omaha, which makes me wonder if that location gets more attention than this one. In the mornings on Monday and Thursday, there's a turf time group that reserves alot of equipment and spaces, which keeps people from having access to the various equipment for an hour, that hour typically seems to be prime time for mornings. I would advise that the owner/manager get dedicated equipment for these groups or add additional facilities in the area. I've been coming here for about 3 years, if another gym came in with a good variety of a equipment at the same rate, I'd consider leaving. I may be wrong, but I thought it was a rule to wipe down equipment after use, why would anyone do this when none of the trainers are teaching people to do so?

Gage was unbelievably courteous, helpful and respectful as I am an official Senior Citizen in uncharted territory. I knew immediately this was the right place for me as I had hesitated for awhile. The pool was inviting, everything was clean and machines enough for anyone. I am looking forward to better health as I pursue my goals.

My first negative experience was being attacked by a college football player. When I tried to get evidence of me definding myself I was told there is no camera pointing into the weightlifting area. The second negative experience was again being attacked by a college kid while I was in the sauna. The third negative experience is I lost my debit card. The next day I came in and filled out the paperwork to update the billing. My card has been on file for months now. But periodically genesis will just stop billing me. I didn't pay attention to it at first and it added up to three months. Since then I get harassed about it periodically even though I already spoke to the billing about making arrangements. I've never experienced this much drama at a gym before.
Honestly if I didn't think it would be a whole other issue I would try to leave. There are plenty of other gyms in town.

Here's how it goes just in case you get a contract person that doesn't actually explain to you what you're signing. Me plus my wife and kid was 104 bucks a month. Their contract is set up to where your payments charge your bank and if you don't have enough money they charge you an extra $35, not your bank Genesis charges an extra 35. If you want a break contract before halfway through it's $200 if you want to break it after halfway through it's $100. Any changes have to be done 30 days in advance so if you break your account early you're still getting charged later that month. I never had a day at Genesis where it wasn't a wait for any piece of equipment except for maybe the situp machines. There's nothing Genesis has that other gyms don't. Do yourself a favor and go to Planet Fitness or any other gym without a contract where you pay less and can cancel membership any time. $120 a year or $1200 a year your choice

I have been trying to work with them on the cancellation of my membership. The corporate office in Wichita is simply unresponsive after many calls and voicemails. The local Tara plaza pretends to care and willing to help but they are clearly handcuffed by the corporate office. Beware of this issue when considering this gym. From talking with others around town and reading many other similar reviews it seems as if this is common business practice for them.

I use to be self conscious going to the gym when there were a bunch of people there, but at Genesis I feel more and more confident every time I go! Gage was super helpful through the membership process and is very quick to respond when I need assistance on finding gym equipment to help my workout. I would recommend Genesis Tara Plaza over any other gym I have been to.

Just started going again at Genesis Health Club last week. Impressed with the friendliest and professionalism. Took a full tour of the facility, it was very clean.Tyler was my first trainer he was very knowledgeable learned a lot about the variety of equipment. Miket will be my trainer, was very helpful.
Great place to work out! I give the entire staff a ten! Highly recommend this club!

Seems like a reoccurring theme with terrible customer service my wife canceled the membership, I was charged for 3 months following us canceling. I called the location and informed them of this. I have asked for a refund and they have given me the same run around as some of the other reviews I have read. I have even tried to reach out to the corporate number and they "take note" of what is going on but no resolution. I have been in contact with Matt multiple time and cooperate has even tried to reach out with no result. I will never refer this gym to anyone due to their terrible customer service.

I wish I would’ve read the reviews before joining. This place has terrible customer service when trying to cancel a membership. I left the state in a haste to become a caretaker for a family member. After realizing I forgot to cancel my membership, I called the location and informed them of this. They have been giving me the run around for three months citing a “manager will call [me] back.” It’s very sickening that I am being charged monthly for this with no information from the staff. Simple communication would be great. Earlier this year, a fitness manager named Aaron texted me at 3:55am to cancel our first session that was scheduled at 7/7:30am. I was totally understanding & respected that he had a family emergency. It’s upsetting that the same courtesy isn’t extended to their members. I am putting a stop payment at the bank and moving on. I will never refer this gym to anyone due to their poor customer service.

Needed to put my account on hold because of an injury and was upset because there was some miscommunication I had felt I was overcharged an extra month, but the club manager called me back and said he would credit the money to my account, along with some additional months of not being charged once I return. $45/month on a 2 year contract with a $100 cancellation fee for a gym that is average at best. Save your money and time, there are better places in town. Also, went in to cancel because I moved and they won’t cancel it without a membership rep. Pick which way you want it, either allow people to cancel online (which only makes sense since you can sign up online), or allow the check-in rep to have me sign a piece of paper and cancel. Very sleezy. I blame myself too for leaving my other gym
