Planet Fitness has been a great place for me to stay consistent with my workouts. The gym is always clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything I need—from cardio machines to strength training equipment. The staff are friendly and approachable, and I appreciate the relaxed, judgment-free atmosphere. It’s never too crowded, even during peak hours, and the 24/7 access is a big plus with my unpredictable schedule. Great value for the membership price. The source of management at this establishment is below expectations. While working out during the day everything is dirty and paper towels/cleaning bottles are always empty or low. Seems like the day shift staff cares more about talking with each other than performing their jobs. Overheard an employee telling the manager he “wasn’t going to do that” when asked to clean and her response was “that’s fine we’ll figure it out.” Amanda is not qualified to perform manager duties as there are no jobs being assigned to employees that need to be completed. Everything during the day is subpar until night shift comes in to clean up their slack. It does not make sense that I see the 1-2 people working during the night cleaning the whole gym while the employees during the day can sit behind the desk on their phone and talk to each other the whole shift.

Usb and 110 charging ports along the counter at the front which is great, tanning massage, smaller gym, but it might be appropriate for the size of community. We are visiting from outside the area. Extremely large parking lot for 18-wheeler and RV friendly folks. Bathrooms were clean, lockers in the workout area for your stuff. Good hours. Nice staff.

Just came into town and decided to see what amenities this facility has. I happened to have my 13 and 10 year old with me. I was told in a rude manner that I could be shown around but my kids would have to stay at the front of the gym and we’re not even allowed in the building. I have no issues with following the rules and don’t have an issue with kids not being allowed. I would have come back at a different time without issue. I do have issues with someone being rude especially when it’s completely unnecessary. Maybe the person was having a bad day but I’ll take my business elsewhere

The staff showed an utter lack of human empathy & compassion. I find it funny how a company that prides itself on being all accepting and accommodating can by the same token be as cold and careless as they displayed today. I was in the middle of a workout when I received a phone call from an oncologist in regards to my mom's cancer diagnosis. I ran out to my car to hear what was going on and once the call concluded I came back in to complete my workout. Since the call took some time the machine i was using had obviously been occupied by another customer so i moved to another piece of equipment. While working out I was confronted by manager SAVANNAH PLANK saying that a customer had complained that I hadn't wiped down a machine after I had used it. I explained that I had a family emergency hence why I rushed out to my car in order to take the call. She then informed me that regardless I need to ensure I'm wiping down the machine after each use. I've been a customer there for 6 months and have never had an issue as i try my best to maintain a clean workout environment just as any other customer would, so i feel as though this admonishment was rather needless. Coupled with the fact that I outrightly explained how I was dealing with a mother who was battling cancer and her stern attitude remained it left me with a very disturbed vision of what planet fitness is really about. MIND YOU this is the same company who recently discovered a decomposing body in the tanning booth only once the stench became unbearable. Personally I think this is unacceptable and really displays a lack of empathy and compassion when it comes to dealing with your consumer base and those that choose to support this company

Lots of cardio and strength training machine options including HydroMassage. I prefer the Grand Island location over this one due the larger space and equipment options there. An advantage here is that the staff is more available to speak with when you need to. It's clean and well maintained. Lots of members ignored the mask mandate when it was in affect where nothing was done about it to correct the issue. Calling the corporate number only resulted in being put on hold without never speaking with anyone after many attempts. The Kearney and Grand Island locations are some of the better local fitness clubs I've been to.

tl:dr Planet Fitness, the Exclusionary Gym with the hidden fees.

I signed up for planet fitness twice over the years, thinking they might have gotten better the second time. They were (at least on paper) the cheapest gym in town. Sadly, that ended up not being the case.

Their promotion declares it is only $10 a month with only $1 down, and you can cancel anytime. What they don't tell you is they will also charge you a $40+ a year "membership fee" on top of that $10 a month.

When I stopped using their gym and tried to cancel, I was told I had to come in, in person. I can't cancel my own gym membership online?

When I went in to cancel, I was told I would be charged $60+ for cancelling early! I pointed to the sign and said "your sign says I can cancel anytime" Well, I guess technically you can. However, they are going to charge you over $60 if you cancel before your membership hits 12 months. When I asked if they could waive the charge, they told me no.

Not only do they nickel and dime you with hidden fees, the so called "judgement free zone" only applies to those who are not in shape. If you are in shape, and like to lift weights, the commercials they play and the signs they paste up all over the walls make it very clear; "You are not welcome here". They love calling fit guys "lunks" (you never see fit girls being made fun of, eerily enough), and making it clear if you are in shape, don't come to planet fitness. Seriously, they actually play commercials making fun of men lifting weights. I was kind of shocked and taken aback when I saw them for the first time.

They also say "Open 24/5". However, they don't open Monday morning until 7am, and close Friday at 9pm. Saturday and Sunday, they are only open till 6 (I believe). So in reality, they are a 24/3 gym.

The first time I signed up, their sign said "open 24/7!" So, I went in later one evening only to be promptly kicked out, because they were closing. But, your sign says 24/7!?

All together, with their shady business practices, exclusionary atmosphere, and lack of customer service, this is sadly a gym I cannot recommend.

I wish I could rate them 5 starts because the employees in the morning are AMAZING. They are always welcoming and friendly and always greet me when I come in with and leave as a guest with my friend it’s a great way to start my day.
But the night staff is pretty much the worst, when I come in no one ever greets me they just sit at the front desk and don’t even acknowledge that I have walked in. Especially after yesterday’s episode I am very off put and even thinking about visiting a different gym. I believe her the night managers name is Sean and she was yelling at the morning staff in front of everybody that was working out. The way she talks to her fellow employees is very rude and off putting let alone how she treat gym goers like myself. Hoping for better working conditions for the employees.

I joined Planet Fitness early last year, (2020) after years with a family membership at my local gym. I paid my dues every month and paid the annual fee, but with COVID, I didn't use it as much, preferring to exercise at home or outside (for obvious reasons). I rejoined in January as felt like I needed to be more active given how poor the weather has been. After a couple months we decide to go back to our local gym so the whole family can attend. I go in to cancel my membership and they tell me I will already be charged the annual membership fee for the year because I did not cancel my membership by Feb 25th (4 days earlier). Now I guess I should have read my membership agreement a little bit closer and $40 is whatever but I paid 2 annual membership fees and I was a member for a total of about 9 months. After stewing on it on the way home I called back and asked to talk to the manager. I was told they didn't know when the manager would be in and they aren't allowed to the give refunds. I reached out to the corporate office and they told me that due to the fact that it was a franchise there was nothing they can do. Now I'll pay my second annual fee in under a year, but I hate being nickeled and dimed, and I'll never recommend Planet Fitness to anyone ever again.

I normally do not leave reviews. I’m a trucker that works out at different gyms daily. I was about halfway done with my workout when the manager came to me (Very Nice Lady) to tell me a member felt uncomfortable because they felt like I was staring. I again have never heard this anywhere and I am typically at 20-24 gyms per month. It was very offensive and kinda unnecessary. After she told me what she did I noticed a guy in a Anytime Fitness shirt that was in an area I was in earlier follow me to the locker room while I took my interworkout shake. He went to his locker opened it and got nothing as he stared at me from the corner of his eyes as if he was waiting for me to pack up and leave. After he realized I wasn’t leaving he walked back out of the locker room with nothing more than he walked in with. And here is what happened in that area earlier. I cleaned off the ab rocker machine and he walked up where his girlfriend/wife or whatever she may have been to him was working out. He then began yelling at her and holding the bottom of the ab machine I just cleaned to use. Looked at me twice so I looked back. Eventually he moved far enough for me to get on the machine. Prior to this his girlfriend/wife again don’t know their relationship but she was 2 bikes over from me. Every time I looked up she was looking at me. I can’t control that. If you don’t want your significant other looking at other people you may need to find a different place to workout. I dunno. Overall the gym was very clean and the equipment was newer with minimal wear. Locker room was clean and so were showers and bathroom stalls. Staff was very quick to replace towels and spray as necessary. Also very professional. I however will not be returning because being lied on can cause problems in the long run. Awesome gym with awesome staff. Keep up the professionalism and cleanliness. Definitely a 5 star experience except for the liar that was there.

For the price I feel like PF is a great gym and has a great staff at the Kearney location. I only have a few suggestions regarding equipment. I understand that free weights are very limited at planet fitness, but a slanted smith machine would be an amazing addition to the selection of equipment at PF. Another addition that I have seen in other PF facility black card area is an inferred sauna options. These would be awesome additions and greatly improve the overall experience at the gym.
