I’ve been lifting most of my adult life and have trained at a lot of big franchise gyms along with the small local gyms and I can easily say that West O Fitness off of 176th & Maple is currently my ALL-TIME FAVORITE. It’s always spotless, the employees are courteous and friendly, the equipment is always clean and maintained AND it has 24 hour access all year long! Couldn’t ask for anything else. And it’s got all the weight and equipment you need for the heavy lifters.

Years ago this would have been a completely different post. Now I have to call West O Fitness out. They have lost their passion. They've also seemingly put the burden of their newer competition (Vasa) onto their own members.
The photos attached are of their new Inbody scale. Amazing piece of equipment. Many gyms have one for good reason. But as you'll see in my comment I left on their Facebook post, they are charging essentially the price of a monthly membership to use the machine and it has to be during staffed hours so don't bother if you're an early morning or late evening person.
After leaving my Facebook comment the owner Mary called me via private number. Private meaning I couldn't call back even if I wanted to. She basically said she wanted to talk about my complaint and be transparent with me. Which I appreciated. But I was unable to answer the call and in her message she said she would call again the following morning. She never called again. Couldn't keep her word of doing so.
I went back to Facebook to see if maybe they replied back or privately messaged me so I could chat about it. Nope. Turns out they just deleted my comment. Which I thought was odd considering most businesses would leave it and publicly say something such as "I'm sorry you feel this way. We will reach out and see if we can make the situation right." But no. They deleted the comment in fear of other members seeing it.
I understand with places like Vasa opening up your member count has taken a hit, but don't start charging $20-$30 for something other gyms offer for free and unlimited uses. You're putting your loss onto your remaining members. As a locally owned gym, you should be raising your standards when new competition enters your market. Give your members a reason to stay.
And speaking of your lack of standards. How about hiring a cleaning crew or put your employees to work instead of sitting on their phones the whole time. Have you ever looked up at your ceiling and air ducts? LAYERS OF DUST. When I'm on the stair master I could reach over and wipe it down.
You guys need a refresh. Clean. Update the layout. Repair anything necessary. Up. Your. Standards.
Until the standards are back to where they were years ago, I cannot faithfully recommend West O Fitness. Which is really unfortunate because we should be supporting our local businesses. But they also have to give us a reason to not go to the corporate gyms.

Sad to see the early reviews mentioned clean facility… in the 4 years I have been using it has gone downhill fast. I almost always use the same elliptical machine and I don’t think it has been cleaned in 6+ months other than the 2 times I did it because… a pic included. Also bulbs in tanning booths have not been changes in 4 yrs. I am fair skinned and 15 minutes barely does anything… hate to be negative but facts are facts.

Used this gym for about 5-6 years and finally had to leave and sign up for a membership elsewhere due to the reasons below:

*Cleanliness - I feel like everything is dirty. All the corners are filled with dust, underneath the free weights rack is filthy, and I generally feel like everything I touch is dirty. I rarely see employees doing anything other than sitting at the front desk on their phones. The sauna is filthy. The workout mats are filthy. All corners are filled with dust/hair/dead bugs. Any part of the weights or machines that are regularly touched feel grimy.

*Teenagers - the last few years, it has become the hangout spot for young teens (under 18). They are constantly goofing around and take up machines/benches for a very long time without actually using them. They are there for social hour. I’d say 2/3 of the gym patrons are under 18 if you go anytime after school. They’re also constantly taking pictures / videos and just generally being obnoxious.

*Tanning - They have the worst beds I have ever used. I have never used one there with all of the bulbs working. They always seem dirty and I don’t think anyone has ever cleaned below/behind them. There is no maintenance on them whatsoever and I am pretty sure they use the wrong chemicals to clean them, which damages the plexiglass (which is cracked).

It seems like the gym is totally neglected. I just switched to a new gym this week and I’m wondering why I waited so long. I loved West O Fitness when it first opened but it has been in a continuous decline since before COVID hit and just gets worse.

I called to explain my husband cannot come in to the gym anymore due to being sick. I was told I have to mail a letter in and that there will be an additional month of payment.

When a business has no compassion for the people who attend their gym, it's not a place I'd choose to do business with again. I Spoke to Mary the manager and she absolutely had no regard for our situation.

I’ve been a member since 2019. This is a great place to train as they have all essential equipment in a clean friendly environment. It’s also the best low-cost no contract gym I’ve been around in Omaha. It is also 24 hour access with the keychain member card so you do not need to worry about what their hours are. We have people of all body shapes and sizes at our gym and I’ve never witnessed any body shaming of any type. Come train at West O Fitness!

Joined this gym just for the classes. Have gone 3 times and only once was there class. I drive way out of my way to the Harrison Street location since they have classes on Sunday and Wednesday according to the website. Very disappointed so far!

I have been a member since they originally opened. Friendly staff, clean gym, and plenty of room. That being said in recent months the gym has been handing out memberships to way too many people. Numerous times I have gone to workout and left because it's so busy. Super crowded these days. Many times I find myself waiting on a machine to open up.

Pretty solid gym! My wife and I picked this place because of the monthly price and 24hr access. It's rarely overly crowded, 3 tanning beds, hydro bed and dry sauna, so we pay for stuff we actually used as opposed to a bunch of stuff we won't ever use like basketball and racquet ball courts. Friendly staff and not a ton of "meat heads" but still enough to make you want to push yourself and be better. 2 free guests a month is also a bonus! At least come check it out for a trial pass!

My wife and I have been members here since May of 2018. I am disappointed in the customer service experience. The Manderson location employees cannot show up on time. Please make the sauna 24 hours because the personnel that are schedule to open at 5am don’t show up on time. I’m there everyone morning at 4:15am! They need to allow 24 hour Sauna and change the bulbs in the tanning beds. This company charges a maintenance fee and if they’re not putting that money in the business where is it going?

All equipment is second hand and most is broken down. There have been machines that have been out of order for over 6 months from the time I started working for West O.
No effort to fix those even though they charge every member a maintenance fee.
There is literally missing bolts on nearly every piece of equipment that have been at the front desk in a Ziploc bag. Constant complaints about the cardio equipment that never get follow through. The Hoist brand equipment in general is sub par at best, especially since it's all second hand. It seems like the place is just looking to make a quick buck and has no interest in the well being of it's clients. Any new equipment they have purchased in the last year is literally the cheapest they can find. I worked as a personal trainer and front desk rep for around 8 months and it was like the place was cursed. I feel sorry for the front desk staff who work there tail off as janitorial staff, membership sales, and customer service representatives since management is too cheap and lazy to hire out the work like any other gym in Omaha. I guess you get what you pay for. You'd be better off joining the YMCA for the price you pay.

Been a member since June and don’t think I’d leave unless I had to. Equipment is new looking and well cleaned. Cost is crazy good especially when you look at what you get with the price. Some of the employees could be a little friendlier but majority of them know me by name and when I usually come in. I’d recommend this to anyone that doesn’t like the “big gym” scene. I recently moved and wanted to transfer my membership from the Harrison Street location to the Maple location. They wanted a $25 fee to cover the cost of account maintenance. When I asked the district manager if they ever waived it, he said no. As the manager of a business in the past, I know this fee is only to line their pockets and an ACH withdrawal from my account costs them almost nothing. I told him I had to think about it since it seemed like they didn't care if they kept me as a member or not. Ultimately I decided to join a different gym and when I went to cancel my membership, they didn't try to retain me at all. A month later I noticed that the gym had charged me the maintenance fee that comes out yearly even though I had not been a member in over a month. When I called and asked for the manager, I got a very rude response about how I agreed to pay all fees upon cancellation. I was sure I never signed this form and when she looked at my record and saw that I had never been shown this policy, she agreed to credit my fee back. When I asked to speak to the district manager about this policy, she laughed at me and said "I'm the owner". This gym needs to learn how to treat their members, past and present, if they want to retain their business.

Easy to find, although really far our west! They are clean, have very friendly staff, and all their equipment (a brand called Hoist) is amazing!! It makes each movement more effective and less stressful on your joints by moving the parts of the machine that are usually static, like the seat. Large selection of free weights/machines/cardiovascular equipment.
