PROS: affordable membership, down to earth members, lots of cardio equipment, they finally got staff that are friendly.

CONS: equipment pretty run down, and cleanliness of the facility is questionable with things like a member towel left laying on the gym floor for several days without anyone picking it up, hand sanitizers throughout the gym have been empty for weeks, toilets haven't been cleaned after two days.

This gym has everything you need for any goal you’re trying to reach. A mixture of machines and free weights at an affordable price. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s dark inside all the time hence the 4 stars. Not a big deal though. 😅

I went in today with full intent to sign up. But the gal working only gave me the month to month option, didn’t even mention a year plan (I had to look it up online after the fact). But the insane amount of fees pushed me out the door.
$50 enrollment fee… for what!
$15 for a keycard (it’s a little piece of paper you put on your keys).
$5 extra for using a card.
$40 fee for “equipment maintenance”

It should not be the member’s burden to directly pay for equipment. That is the burden of the gym owner and they should invest back into the business to keep the standard.

That was just for the basic package, if you want to use their full services I’m sure there’s even more fees associated with your “low monthly fee”.

Just be more honest on your website, don’t hide fees.

I’ve been at this gym for over a year. For a smaller gym, they have a great selection of free and machine weights. I utilize the big room with mirrors very often when there’s not classes being held. Plenty of cardio options and the hydro bed is a great plus. This place has been been clean every time I’ve went. I’ll continue to work out here even with all the new/big gyms opening and offering “deals”.

I've been working out here at the 181st and Harrison location since July 2022 and it has been amazing. Its only a couple miles from my house and is really affordable. Great staff, great equipment, and plenty of amenities for those not only after the weights. Highly recommend

I have been going to this gym for about 6 years now. In the beginning it was great not overly packed, customer service was great and the gym was clean. Today I see horrible customer service often having to wait quite a bit for an employee to just appear to unlock a tanning room/massage room. The gym is clean and provides self cleaning products for users of the gym. It has become overwhelming packed at times and since they only have 1 of some popular equipment I am having to wait. Sometimes I find people using the equipment as leaning post and just socialize for 20 mins and not using the equipment, very annoying. It has under gone new ownership a couple times now and they do their best but my number one complaint is customer service. Like today, today is Sunday (not a holiday) come in at 9 left around 1130. Not one employee to be found (employees hours are 8-4 according to the hours online and the doors)

This club's customer service is very unprofessional. I went there three times and so my wife and son to cancel the membership but were not helped by persons on duty because they are not authorized to cancel membership. They do not explain cancellation policy upfront during registration process. They send terms and conditions by email to minors who are not as experienced as adults to catch up such money stealing tactics. Also remember do not pay through your bank account because this method of payment gives them the freedom to charge customers bank account even for not using their service.

The cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals) are poorly serviced. Right now, 3 broken treadmills & 2 ellipticals not working right. This is an everyday occurrence.
Absolutely horrible air flow/movement in the cardio area. How about more ceiling fans, blowers or something? There’s plenty of ceiling fans in the weight area. This is not as much of an issue in the winter but come spring, summer, the gym is nothing but a roasting sweat house (reminds me of smelly Golds Gym in the ‘90’s in Omaha). Moving on @ renewal

Between the apathetic staff and the sheer volume of payment, West O Fitness is a scam. Their attatchments for certain machines are plastic. Even their clips have found a way to be outdated. The only redeeming quality of this shabby gym is the hoist machines. These are of good quality, and I genuinely enjoyed using them. I honestly would've given a higher rating if the staff just didnt exist.

When looking to sign up at a gym be VERY cautious about signing up at West O. The staff is rude, misleading, and completely unhelpful when there is an issue. I was told I was signing up for a "trial" membership. After I used the gym a handful of times I decided that it wasn't for me and I would stick to where I was going. Never was told that I was signing a contract or anything, so the guy at the front desk said "You are good to go. Let us know if you change your mind." I figured that was that.... however, today when looking at my credit karma I noticed 1 collection account... I clicked on it and WEST O SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS FOR SOMETHING I DIDN'T EVEN SIGN UP FOR. I tried disputing it and their collection agency and them were absolutely no help. I am not even sure that I gave them my SSN, because there is no way I would give that out to sign up for a gym. They were unable to furnish a contract that I signed etc. Be very cautious when giving them any of your information.

I should have stop with the signup process when they where have to ask for my email over and over even tho I spelled it out for them a few times, so I didn't the membership contact that they send by email to you.

I did the meme of signing up and never using but they make it hard to cancel your membership in that you have to cancel in person and that you have to give them 30 day notice of cancelling before they will cancel the membership.

Then today I found that they where still charging me a membership that I canceled back in June. Even in their system showed that is was canceled back in June. Stay away if you value your time.

Very disappointed to have a gym so close be so bad. Ellipticals don’t read heart rate well. Machines don’t have chargers for your phones. No Scale!! I’ve been trying to weigh myself there for over a week now. They finally got a scale after ordering it and a day later the battery dies and they tell me no one sells batteries. When I tried to talk with a young male there he was rude and couldn’t believe I was upset enough to quit this gym since they didn’t have a scale. Please pick a different gym!!

I went in today to cancel my membership only to be informed I will be charged the $30 maintenance fee and the membership fee in November as well. I had a year contract that was up several months ago I’m now month to month. Why should I pay $30 for a maintenance fee for a gym I no longer belong to. They refused to do anything about it! West O Fitness is amazing! I've been going here for a year now, and it is easily my favorite gym. There is plenty of cardio machines if that's your thing. I'm more of a free weight person and there's lots to use. Rarely do I ever have to wait for something and if I do, I never have a problem finding an alternative exercise. The facility clean and the staff is super friendly. Also the price Is affordable and I have access 24 hours a day.

UPDATE: I am very impressed by the turnaround at WOF. They have hired a new manager that cares and she listens to members and employees. They have abandoned the video approach to classes and have been good about keeping classes lead by qualified instructors. They have replaced the old tattered weights too! You rarely find equipment that's not working and the place is keep pretty clean. It's a good value.

ORIGINAL: Join at your own risk....Remember you get what you pay for. When I joined I ignored the reviews on Facebook because I tested out a few classes and they were really good (it's all about the instructor). Speaking of reviews... where did they go? West O must have taken them down because they were all VERY unfavorable.

That awesome instructor has now quit because the managers and owners would never reply to her messages. When I signed up I said I was a class girl and was concerned about the number of classes. I was told they were working hard to add more! I went today at 7:00 and class was canceled without notification. And, check out the photo I posted...more classes canceled permanently. In spite of the equipment we had and the dangerous rack the weights are held in (see pics), I never missed.

At one point the gym had 8 machines out of order and it took them over 8 weeks to fix them. And the broken mirror...well, it's still broken. If you don't mind germs, sign up. There's one chemical bottle for the entire gym to use to sanitize equipment before and after use. I don't think I've ever seen anyone using it.

Speaking of joining, most people I talked to there are paying $19 a month with no contract. I'm paying more than that and they won't let me out of my contract even though they have changed what I purchased.

Their equipment breaks down every week almost, constantly crowded, no rules followed like not sitting on a machine for a hour talking to your friends, and the list goes on. When explaining my concerns on the equipment fixes was given a snotty response. It's super easy for me to like a gym; I'm old school, don't care about slamming weights, hot vs cols temperatures, no judgements but you HAVE to keep equipment working especially if your gym is overly crowded.

Great gym, been going for over a year and had no issues. Always kind staff and gym-goers, happy to spot or otherwise help you out. Pretty low cost (under $20). Good equipment and almost never too packed. Never had any trouble finding a machine to do my movements. Details: Mostly Hoist Fitness equipment, a few squat racks, two of each of the more important machines, one machine for most things, dumbbells up through the 100s, rack of curl bars thru 100s, 3 bench presses, 5 tiltable single benches, two large cable sets, over 25 cardio machines.

When I was little, my mom would do cardio videos in the front room, and while she did weights, she would give me and my little sister cans of Campbells soup to lift. My reccomendation would be to save your money, (and plenty of it; they dont take their legal responsibility to inform you of money they are taking out of your checking account overly seriously) and maybe you can ask my mom if you can come lift campbells soup cans with her in her living room.
