It's a public Bar and Grill, the kitchen closes at 6 pm on the weekends and 7 pm on the when's. Good food, good atmosphere. Check them out for any planned events.

Went there to get a bucket of balls at 5:25pm and was rudely told I could not get a bucket by staff. They were rude and dismissive. Will take the trip to Carson to play golf or hit balls from now on.Thanks to the staff at Dayton Golf course.

Great layout and good challenge, but the general course conditions were poor in my opinion for the green fee. That said, the greens were really good. Also, I canβt believe they didnβt supply each cart with complementary water bottles considering it was 90+ degrees and there was no drinking water available on the course. Not sure I would play this course again unless the conditions were better and I would get more for my money.

Staff is wonderful, carts were working, the greens are a little behind... Signs posted at the clubhouse indicate a problem outside of the golf course with the watering system. Still a great community resource, the bar was functional and so was the kitchen, the golf courts worked, and we enjoyed 18 rounds of golf at a very reasonable rate. Going back this weekend. Course is not well maintained these days. Good layout but the course does not have the plush fairways it used to have. Bunkers have more rock than sand greens are well maintained and true

Paying $75 for a round of golf on what was once a beautiful and challenging course is disappointing. The course is now poorly maintained, with dead fairways, bunkers filled with rocks, and players wearing jeans and T-shirts. The current management has unfortunately tarnished the legacy this course once held.

Last year Dayton valley was in my opinion on the verge of losing their course do to dead and dieing fairways. Just played the course and cannot believe how the crews have brought the coarse condition back. Dayton valley is back and again a favorite. Good job Dayton valley crew.

I agree with the review regarding the grass situation, terrible. Also, what is up with the smell in the 101 Bar and Grill located in the golf course? I've been in porta potties that smell better.
Pictures in the advertising are misleading.

We have been coming here every year for a golf trip. We have always loved the course and always play 36 holes. I canβt tell you how disappointed we were with the condition of the course. It actually looked like it was going bankrupt. Every bunker was a disaster and we talked to one member who said they pull the ball out of every bunker now. The fairways were destroyed with brown grass and no grass in many places. It was so bad that we decided not to play the second round. I hope that next year it will be fixed but if not we will be playing elsewhere. Hopefully the course is still in business next year.

Played the course last year and it was in great shape. Was looking forward to playing it this year drive 6 hours WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Tee boxes dry and hard fairways lots of dead grass and brown spots some green grass ground was hard as a rock. There were areas of water flooding around sprinkler heads. Bunkers were as hard as concrete and had water in them or weeds or both. You would think that when you called to make a tee time they would inform you that they were having problems with their irrigation AND THE COURSE IS IN BAD SHAPE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK

I am ashamed of the condition of the course. 80% is dead grass/hardpan/weeds and 20% flooded. The entrance to the course is hard packed sand and weeds. You would think the entrance would be an important first impression. Then there is the extreme alge issues with the water.
Unfortunately there is no pride in maintaining the course...only excuses. It's no wonder this course is no longer on the list for potential tournaments.
Regardless of excuses, the owner should never have let the course reach this level of disrepair.

I understand the owner's name is Jim, this is for you. My wife and I have been visiting friends who live on the course the last few years and I have to say that each year the course looks crappier! It was covered with clover, dandelions and many many large brown dead spots. If you like dandelion wine, you're all set. Please don't use the weather as an excuse. I live on a similar course as you in a climate that is hotter and drier than you, but the owner of the course takes pride in how the course looks and the residents love that. My friends and some of their friends feel that you are taking advantage of them because they will golf anyway because they live on the course. They say that they're are there for the comradery and friends, but are embarrassed and unhappy with how the course looks. No one wants to approach you on it because it's a small happy community. You should feel embarrassed and shame on you! Quit being so CHEAP!
One last thing, YOU DON'T WATER THE COURSE DURING THE HOT SUNNY AFTERNOON. Maybe if you watered correctly in the early hours you might have a better looking course.

This was my first time coming back to Dayton Valley GC in 4-5 years.
Most of the greens were in good shape, a few needed some seedlings and maintenance. The tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways were mostly in good shape, a little off line and your ball lands on hard pan or weeds. Overall the greens team is doing a good job, but some seeding and maintenance should be given to some of the areas off the fairways. And, many of the bunkers had weeds and also need maintenance.
I look forward to returning to see some maintenance improvements.

The course design seamlessly integrates challenging holes with the natural beauty of the surroundings. Fairways are well-maintained, and the greens are true, providing an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels. The scenic views of the Sierra Nevada mountains add to the allure. Arnold Palmer, who I know met, would not like his name on a brown, beat up golf course,I've been playing Dayton since 2017, it's always brown, #17, hole is terrible, standing water in September, seems to me someone could figure out better sprinkler coverage and not flood the course, club is 100% better than ever.

The course was in excellent shape, good tee boxes of varying lengths, some really long in my opinion. The fairway and rough were in good condition, as were the greens. The layout was fun and interesting with wide playable fairways. The cost was very good. I paid $50 with a lunch and bucket of balls. They even had a mercy maid during the week.

Used to live in Dayton for 15 years between 2005-2020 and the course was amazing and for the majority of that time it was a GREAT deal rate wise Rick Vaughn was awesome and ran it great but recently returned to town for a week and played 5 rounds and the course has gone down the drain I think Arnold Palmer would be sad to see his course look that wayβ¦ the greens used to be quick and smooth but now they are shaggy, bumpy and slow and sometimes it was hard to tell the fairways apart from the rough, they had us hitting off the mats on the range in the middle of summer and the range balls are clearly still the same ones from 15 years ago it was definitely disappointing because I was truly excited to go back and play one of my favorite courses that I grew up hopefully the next time I am in town itβs a better experience but the food was awesome at least they can hang their hat on that

The greens, though slightly shaggy, still provide a decent putting experience that challenges golfers' skills. While a few dried-up spots can be found on both fairways and greens, it's important to consider the season β the course's overall condition is commendable given the winter weather.
Despite the winter-related challenges, the course remains an enjoyable choice for golf enthusiasts looking to get their swings in. The management's efforts to maintain the course and keep it playable are evident, and with the perspective of the season in mind, the experience is quite positive. As spring approaches, golfers can look forward to the rejuvenation of the fairways and greens, providing an even more satisfying game.

We recently held a Celebration of Life and I want to say Deanna was great to work with and accommodating as my request to RSVP was with a short notice.
We held it in the Sierra Room, the room was ok, the carpet could be cleaned and/or updated. The water jug ran out toward the end of the service and I didnβt see a server in view to request for it to get refilled. Other than that, it was a pleasure holding our event with Deannaβs help.

Went to the bar & grill for dinner last night. I had the roast beef dip with fries. It was so, so good. It could have used a bit more beef but it was tasty. My boyfriend ordered the blackened ribeye and said he enjoyed it. Our waitress was super nice, and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, with about half the patrons at the bar, and half at tables. I set-up a tee time there for me and a few guys for my 40th birthday. My wife went behind my back and added players to the roster because one of my best friends was driving into town to surprise me. The gentlemen at the pro-shop were super kind and accommodating. We ended up with five men (only four playing) and the pro-shop fully accommodated us. We kept-up with the pace of the course and we had a blast. Cigars were lit, music was playing and the bourbon was flowing. This is a beautiful course. I will definitely play this course again and I'm adding it to my top 10 in the northern Nevada area.

In the last year the course has improved significantly. The greens are smooth and challenging. The fairways have a variety of hazards giving each hole its individual challenges. The bunkers are positioned well but still suffer from too many stones and a tendency to get waterlogged.
Local knowledge is useful on some holes where there are long, severe slopes running down to the water. Be prepared, unless you are a low handicapper, to lose multiple golf balls each round. This all adds to the challenge!
The clubhouse is friendly and serves excellent food (Fridayβs fish and chips might just be the best in Northern Nevada!).

We had our first golf lesson with Sean this morning. He did a GREAT job getting Teri off to a fine start. Sheβs never played before; just getting started. Sean is a very positive in his instruction, and I know! Iβve been an instructor for 30 years, not golf though. Sean helped me with my swing to correct a few things and I saw the positive results right away. Boy am I stiff! LOL. After the lessons, we went into the restaurant for a bite. Food came quick, it was good and hot. Two gals behind the bar. The small one, donβt know her name, wasnβt too enthusiastic, but the other gal was bubbly and seemed to enjoy her job. More lessons for us to come as well and looking forward to working with Sean again. Thanks Sean! GREAT work today!!

I have always liked to play this course so I am reluctant to give them a good review. I don't want it getting over crowded and over played. But I can't afford to keep the course "private." Well, that's what it felt like when my buddy and I played Wednesday. We tee'd off about 11:30. No one in front, no one behind for the first 11 holes. The course is challenging. The grass is greening. Getting back a little bit about liking this course. In my opinion, it was one of the courses around the area that you could always count on being well kept. That was 10+ yrs ago. They had a pump problem and there was some problems. I wasn't too disappointed when we played this time. Under new owners now I believe and I hope they keep it in great shape. π

Just played on 8-21-20 for an amazing price of 45 with cart and let me just say this course is the best course I have played in Nevada. The course is typical Palmer layout with tight fairways, well placed bunkers/water and very well protected greens. The course was in great condition and the greens were in excellent shape. Interactions with staff were pleasant and the food at the grill was very good. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting a more challenging layout at a very reasonable price.
