We have a 6 year old daughter that has been attending for 5 months and we are so glad we chose Family Martial Arts for her. The way the instructors interact with the kids is positive and age appropriate so our daughter continues to want to keep coming back, working on skills and leveling up. We are impressed and excited to see where these classes will take us. Highly reccomend.

I cannot say enough positive about this taekwondo facility. The staff are kind, patient and really help build self confidence in my grandchildren. I love that they have a family minded approach to the lessons. I am so thankful for them and look forward to my grandchildren qualifying for advanced belts. My son is able to join his children and that is a plus!!!

I sign up for the 20.00 promotion over the holidays for a 12 year old not a family packet with a free uniform he was excited we got there early Miss Amber Morales was getting ready for preparation. My grandson was excited filled out a questionnaire which asked my age his sister age (special needs with multiple medical conditions)
Pushed us about mother and father which is personal information, being polite I accompanied her questions. Miss Amber M. is more of a sale person with experience she said of 15 years only in her 20’s . She took me and my grand kids out the front door and said know you address me yes mam or yes sir, I personally play her game since I knew she was trying to show my grandson but when she included me and my granddaughter and me to do this it was disrespect very demanding. I went along at this time remember she was talking to a person that has been alive more than two time her life time so in all reality if she is trying to teach integrity she would have addressed me as mam! Instead she wanted me to address as her as mam! Know she tell us as family to go to the back room so she can instructed us, this appointment was for the grandson not the special need child or the grandma
She tell us to take or shoe and socks off I said no but she insisted I starting to loose patience which I have a lot of with a special need grand daughter. We go through her sales of have the kids call her mam and doing different positions which at this point Iam not doing Iam may sure my granddaughter doesn’t fall ( she liked the yell part she likes loud noises) my grandson is doing ever command because he is Awsome student but this in all actually was the worse experience and I as their grandma should have ended it their. At the end she try to say we should do a family plan with my granddaughter and grandson because she has so much experience with special needs. Poliet I say I need time to think give me a week then she said a day. Now Iam Done A week and I will never go back to this PLACE!!!!!!!!!’ Amber needs training

Son started little over 3 months ago. We have seen a mass improvement with his focus and following directions. He also has improved at the home by cleaning up after himself by throwing away trash and picking up his toys. My wife and I are excited with the improvement and believe this class has really helped our son. We are looking to register our 2nd son when he is a little older.

Our family really enjoys learning taekwondo together at Family Martial Arts. In addition to being rigorous and fun for the little ones, the instructors and staff are consistent, knowledgeable, and respectful with young children, so kids are learning both taekwondo skills while also learning discipline, respect, integrity, and other good values and habits. A number of parents here also take classes with their children, so this is an activity where parents can further bond with their children and model healthy practices.

My son has been going here for nearly a year. He started as a 4 year old. His growth has been incredible over the months. The teachers are patient with him and very motivating. My son often would struggle to push himself with things that are difficult and follow directions. Since starting, he has shown respect and developed more stamina towards achieving a goal without frustration. I am so thankful we decided to go with Family Martial Arts. In addition to the classes, they have many activities we can participate in throughout the year, including a parent's date night. It feels like a family atmosphere and we love being a part of it.

My daughter has autism spectrum disorder and finding a sport that suited her has been difficult. While she has level one ASD, it is still challenging for people to be understanding of her and that she is prompt dependent. With all of that said, Family Martial Arts has been the exception. They are very inclusive and I’m really excited to see her on this journey. The instructors were patient and kind to her. They never singled her out and they guided her through any direction or exercise that she didn’t understand fully the first time. I was really happy to see that they worked with her in a way that suited her needs. I would highly recommend this to any parent. Everyone I’ve spoken to has also been super nice. It’s a fantastic place.

We love Family Martial Arts. My son struggled with sports and fitting in with a team and was feeling very down on himself more often than not. We started him in Taekwondo September of 2022. He loved it right away. He was excited to come to class and he made friends and fit in. At this point he chooses to come to classes 6 days a week. He doesn’t have to attend all of them, but he wants to.
My son has excelled in classes and in tournaments. He is more confident, happier, and better behaved. He is learning valuable skills beyond martial arts. The instructors are great and Master Erdman is fantastic. He encourages and motivates my son more than pretty much anyone could.
Financially, yes, it is a commitment. There are cheaper activities, but also plenty that are more expensive. To be transparent, there are equipment and gear costs (typical for any martial arts school) that come up beyond tuition, but it is totally worth it in my opinion. One of the best decisions we ever made for our kid. We expect to be part of the Family Martial Arts family for many years.

My son loves the classes here! We originally signed him up to help with some behavior issues and learning to have some more self discipline. Since going his behavior has definitely improved, and he's also developed a lot of pride in himself from mastering a new form, or passing testing and getting to advance to the next belt. The teachers are great and help the kids correct their forms and learn new techniques while keeping it fun. Only our son takes classes but the monthly membership includes the whole family if you want. I would definitely recommend Family Martial arts to anyone looking to sign up their kids or themselves.

When I signed my sons up to Family Martial Art school I wasn't sure what to really expect. My one son Austin developed medical issues and eventually wasn't able to continue classes. Master E, Ms Bitakis and staff worked with me continued to ask about him. My son Justin was having issues in school, home and had a lot of anger issues and Master E took time out of his day to speak with him several times. Justin is doing so much better he hasn't been in trouble he is 100 % better at home.
Through Classes he has developed confidence, he has something to look forward to. He has his eyes set on black belt. Justin has made friends. Family Martial Arts has opened up a whole new world for him. "Family Martial Arts is exactly what their name implies.....it's a family." A family who not only teaches, but the staff cares, takes interest in its members. Gives confidence, structure, understanding and most of all they always take the time to help in anyway possible. I am so grateful for all the staff. I would recommend and have to anyone who has Children. This is a family not only Martial Arts School.

Family Martial Arts provides a great training atmosphere. Instructors and peers are very supportive, which is helpful, as everyone learns and progresses at their own pace. The class schedule is convenient and usually allows me plenty of time to get home from work and get myself prepared.
Overall, I'm very happy with my decision to train at this place. I feel like I'm challenged regularly and like I'm gaining skills/techniques. I'll mention the overall training atmosphere one more time as a positive aspect because that really goes a long way with me. I had some martial arts training for about a year when I lived out of state and I know that some places can have issues with overblown egos and people walking around acting like they invented martial arts. That can quickly create a toxic training environment for everyone. No problems like that here. There's a lot of support from everyone in class and it really does make a big difference.

This company may be amazing, but the gimmicky sales tactics were a MAJOR barrier to entry! I stopped in for pricing and schedules, a simple ask.
Wrong.
Such proprietary information is not given out for free.
What must I do to get said information? Pay $20 and come to an intro class. Great. I paid $20 and scheduled the intro. I brought my child for acheduled intro. Ok great let’s get to it.
Wrong. They would not review pricing and schedules unless we committed to financial commitment same day. My spouse and I are in different states, this was not an option. So they let a customer walk out of their studio.
I called back to inform her we decided not to do TKD and therefore would like a refund.
Wrong.
They do not refund money, in other words they keep money for services not rendered.

I moved to the Vegas area by myself last year and was looking for something to fill in some time after work. I am a very timid person by nature and I have seen my confidence grow in the 7-8 months I have been there. Its a great place to fail. I have always wanted to get something perfect the first time, but being here I have learned how to love the process, and enjoy each little win. I feel like everyone celebrates with you when you achieve something, even if its small. It's a great environment for beginners, no matter their age. The staff is wonderful, and helpful. The masters help you push yourself further while also respecting your limits. The leadership students are great too. This school not only teaches you an art form and self defense, but they pass on values to their students who in turn help other students and I love that about this place.

If you're looking for an activity to do with the family I would say family martial arts is a place to be. Everyone is welcome there's an age range for everyone in the family. I really enjoy the discipline it has shown my kids and myself to never give up. They teach you Common Coresl skills that you will need for the rest of your life.

We recently signed our 5yo for the Dragon class, and 3.5 months in, our household have gone to dealing with a disrespectful, spoiled princess to a more disciplined, respectful kid, who wants to protect her baby sister. Our kiddo has learned how to take responsibility of her actions or lack of and accept consequences of her actions. She's also learning the difference between getting rewarded for participation versus earning rewards and being proud of it.

A scam that will take your money for months and months and months without telling you and without your kids even attending to the school. And won't refund me anything back. Over $1200 ! They do not care about families.

Good: staff seems very professional and very respectable. I believe they will teach him everything he needs for better morals and confidence. Staff make you feel comfortable, signing my kid up was really cool they seem to take they're time out for YOU and make the whole family get involved. Very clean place. The only thing I didn't quite understand was the first 2 weeks for $20. You kinda get the first orientation for the $20 then start classes once you pay the sign on and the times for the classes are kinda slim. ( I hope in the future there might be more) but im willing to try and work with it because the instructors really seem worth it. But I do like that if you have more than 2 people in the family to participate you don't get charged extra So once we can and if we continue to like it our whole family will be signing up eventually.

After 1 class we decided it wasn't for us. Everything about this place and Amber was great on our first visit. But when i decided to back out, Amber got really defensive and her tone was absolutely rude. She had assured me that we could back out at any time and get ALL of our money back should we decide that martial arts isnt for us. I dont appreciate her lack of understanding. And after reading these reviews i can see I'm not alone in that experience.

Not pleased with policy. Thought we were going to get a trial at first. Purchased the first 30 day with no commit. As the month went trough, I noticed too many trainers, never the same person, and children as trainers, very unprofessional. I decided not to stay with company and asked to cancel as trial was up. I received a notice that my card was authorized for another payment I did not want. I never signed agreement. I never received payment back. Company needs to assure clients of the payment issue if not signed on. Especially unauthorized credit cards. So never again would I trust this company.

Regret going here not only did we pay $252 for only one month. It was a horrible experience with them. The lady who I signed up with had horrible customer service skills and is very ignorant. At first it was great! The first karate class our child did was a lot of fun, it went amazing and they were so helpful and patient teaching our child and the other children there. There were multiple people helping the instructor teach the kids so that was nice.
It all went Bad when I contact them and told them we are satisfied with just the one month and we did not want to do another month. Also when we paid we only paid to do the one month. They claim you can do month to month but when I went to tell them that they said I have to give them a 30 day notice which makes no sense because that means I would have to notify them when I sign up that I also want to cancel. How are we supposed to know if we want to continue going to the class or not if we have to tell you the first day when we sign up we want to cancel it. We don’t know if our child is going to like the class or not or if we’re going to like it or not. Or what’s going to happen in life if we’re going be able to do more or not and unfortunately due to certain circumstances we were not able to move forward.
They ended up charging me $175 for the next month even though we did not want to do another month and our Child did not want to do another month and we had unplanned circumstances happen that they don’t care about! Where both I, my husband and father got Covid and there was no way we were going to be able to make it to karate and no way we were going to be selfish and get anyone sick!
Even then they will not give you a refund. Unfortunately I lost my father and I’m not in a good headspace to be able to make it to karate when I have more important things to worry about. Even if you’re on your deathbed they will not refund you!
Before this happened after the first class of karate the rest of the class were horrible they keep having different people come in stead of the same ones that did so good. They also started getting lazy with the kids and not helping them do the correct moves.
I highly don’t recommend.

It was great at first but then they charge me an extra month even tho I didn’t want to continue the class. The fact that you guys do month to month but have to give a 30 day notice makes no sense. You guys are very misleading and unfair to parents when it comes to people going through a hard time.

Great place for the whole family to get involved in martial arts. Started as an activity for my daughter to do with friends, and now our whole family of 5 loves to go. Super knowledgeable instructors that are passionate about Taekwondo, holding many World titles themselves. They know how to train champions. For someone cheap like me, it can seem expensive. But I've looked into other recreational and competitive sports and gyms, and with the whole family involved, we find it's worth it. Family Martial Arts also offers sales throughout the year that make it an even better value. Truly it is a great investment, has been great for our kids, and a great workout for parents too. Not only are we improving physically, but kids are developing as leaders and practicing core values as well. We feel like the environment is inviting and have developed friendships with instructors, staff, and other students that truly feels like family.

🥋 so proud of my kid. We brought him and his brother into the karate studio in September of 2017 and were welcomed with open arms. 3 years later and some great times and now he’s a black belt. He’s worked hard and it’s paid off. As far as I know, he’s the first black belt in the history of our family. The highlights of this year by far was him getting state champ and now his black belt. I can’t wait to see what else he can do this year. Thank you Bobby Erdman for opening a studio with the best instructors around, and helping Luke achieve his goal. Thank you Noah G Mercado for putting up with Luke’s questions and nonstop talking. Your patience and guidance did not go unnoticed, without your commitment to the students I don’t know if Luke would be as accomplished as he is. Thank you Zoe N Mealey for cracking the whip when Luke would slack. This studio and instructors will always have a special place in my heart and memories that will last a lifetime. Family ATA Martial Arts is the best choice for any kid and family to learn martial arts.

We have been members of this studio for a little over 2 years. In that time, our child has learned discipline, responsibility, and has enjoyed the challenges that taekwondo gives her. The staff is knowledgeable, patient, and quite honestly, the best at what they do. Although at first glance it may be pricey for some families, the value is more than there. If my child wants, they can take 6 days of classes per week. The times of the classes are geared towards all parents, including working parents. This is the best decision we could have made for our child!

My whole family loves AtA in Henderson, nv. We were previously at a old school and i descided it wasn't the best for my kids as there was more playing then actual learning. After finding ata we were asked to do a trial class. Right after my kids begged to return stating how much they enjoyed the instruction as i was very much pleased at how much control and seriousness was seen in each kid as well as how friendly the staff and other parents were. The class schedule is perfect cause they offer classes everyday and if permitted my kids would want to attend daily. I have watched their interest in taekwondo peak and their strength in what is taught grow so much. They have even offered myself and my husband free classes so we can get out there with our kids. I can't wait fo see how far our family goes with ATA taekwondo

Family ATA has been wonderful. They teach more than Taekwondo The students are expected to keep good grades, and be leaders. Master E and Mr. Mercado do a great job teaching and training, they somehow are able to hold the kids accountable and push them all while making it fun and praising them when they do well. It’s a wonderful balance. This is a commitment....... if your child does ANY extra curricular activities it’s going to cost money. We look at this as an investment. Our daughter is learning more than taekwondo. She is learning that hard work and practice pay off. And not everyone gets a medal. They teach great sportsmanship. Family ATA has a food drive and a toy drive, so the kids are also learning kindness and charity. These are real life lessons. I am glad we found Family ATA. I can’t thank Master E and Mr. Mercado enough for the love and patience they show my daughter. She has more confidence than ever and we both have made great friends!

My son has been involved with American Taekwondo Association (ATA) for 10 years now. When my wife and I first signed him up at age 5, we took the whole experience as one big grain of salt. We weren't going to sign up for tournaments, he was just going to go take the classes. Learn some of that karate stuff. Keep the bullies off of him at school and such. We resisted the "leadership" classes and buying equipment until we knew for sure this was what our son wanted to do. The full equipment bag is a shock to the system if you go that way and you are new to this. You know what though? If you play baseball, golf, football, tennis, gymnastics, basketball, there is equipment involved and those sports are really expensive. You will sign up for taekwondo, pay about $150 month, purchase equipment, namely sparring gear and weapons over time and if you don't treat this like a daycare, your kid may actually like what's going on. Family ATA is our third school because of circumstance. Our family has know (of) Master Erdman for a very long time. We had some contact over the years, but when we found out he bought our taekwondo school, we were ecstatic! He really didn't know our son, but Master Erdman took him in and took our sons skills to an unbelievable level. Not only is there basic taekwondo, there are self defenses, warrior combos (punching combos),you learn how to use traditional Korean weapons. There's extreme martial arts where your kid can learn flips and tricks. This is not just a school with people running around karate chopping each other. There are many different skill levels having 9 color belts before the black belt level. And you just don't walk in and receive a black belt. You have to earn it. Yes there are testing fees, which does not go in the instructors pocket, it goes to register the next belt with the ATA. I've seen all kinds of reviews where people seem to think that the instructors are only out for money, and that couldn't be further from the truth. Honestly you want your martial arts instructor to be doing well financially. Otherwise, your martial arts school would probably wind up closing and you would be out more money than if you were to pay the monthly fees and go along with the program for your contractual time. In addition if you are mom or dad and you are complaining about paying monthly fees especially in front in front your child, he/she is going to want to quit. Bottom line is if you are not prepared to put your child into something as awesome as family ATA Martial Arts in Henderson Nevada, maybe you should go play soccer. Otherwise, come speak to Master Erdman or one of his staff members and learn about what great things your child can be involved in at Family ATA Martial Arts. Because of Master Erdman my son is a four-time world champion in ATA taekwondo and a straight A student.

I'm not one to write reviews and I'm not very good with words, but with that said I don't think there are words to explain what Family ATA of Henderson has done for my daughter & I. We have been at this studio for almost 4yrs now. I feel we have been blessed to be a part of such an amazing family and sport. The owners are truly first class & our instructor is one of the best instructors in this organization & sport & if you’re even considering or know anyone who may be considering a martial arts school before you go anywhere else you must check out this school first.
It saddens me to read the negative reviews on here but I guess you can’t make everyone happy.
*The review about being a student here & then going to be a student somewhere else is totally false. We’ve been students here when this place was only 9 months old and I pretty much know everyone here but have never known that person who left that review. As for the reviews about a business just wanting your money, well every business wants your money how do you think people running a business providing a service to you pay their bills? You don’t go to the grocery store hungry with no money and leave a bad review saying don’t go to that store because you went there hungry & they wouldn’t give you food because all they want is your money.... just like any sport, music class, dance class etc. there will always be fees for different programs, tournaments, testings, uniforms, recitals, games etc. it’s all part of it. It’s all on how serious and involved you want to be.

Handled things very unprofessionally. As a "family" establishment you would think they would be more understanding and accommodating. This place is very generic and basic, providing a super limited class schedule. For the ridiculous amount of money they charge you would think they would offer far more. Go somewhere somewhere else and get more bang for your buck.

Extremely disappointed in our experience here. One week into signing up for classes, we decided that this place just wasn't for us. They have an EXTREMELY limited class schedule and no matter how we rearranged our schedule we could not make it work. As I was just put on bed rest and my husband is now the sole driver of the family right now, we couldn't make it to enough classes to justify spending our money here (we only attended two classes total). We called every day, multiple times per day, for four days trying to get ahold of someone and never could. Finally I emailed them asking for my money back for the remainder 3/4 of the month that we would not be attending, and felt the response I got was careless. I tried to plead my case and get my money back and was completely ignored... never heard another word--very unprofessional and rude to treat paying customers like that, especially considering the crazy amount of upfront money ($340+) we invested into this. I am unimpressed with the way the entire situation was handled and would not recommend that anyone risk losing their money here the way we did. Also, if they invite you in for a trial class, they really mean that they'll show you two karate moves in the corner of a small office. My advice: keep searching for a place that respects you and your money.
