Please don’t believe the other 1 star reviews. At this gym we train hard and if you are intimidated by that, just sign up to planet fitness or to some other liberal gym.

And of course we will have a problem if a biological male goes into a female bathroom regardless if you are gay or bi. We don’t do that at this gym.

I visited the gym this past weekend with my girlfriend, and unfortunately, our experience was quite uncomfortable. We both identify as gay, and my girlfriend presents in a more masculine way. When we arrived, there was no staff at the front desk, so we went straight into the bathroom. A staff member then entered the bathroom, looked around in a way that felt quite intrusive, and left. Later, she approached my girlfriend and told her that she needed to purchase a day pass, even though we had no prior knowledge of this requirement but also had no issue with purchasing a day pass we understand business is business. Throughout our visit, she kept making us feel watched and uncomfortable, even following us into the bathroom again at the end of our workout pretending to check the paper towels then walking out without replacing them? This behavior made us feel targeted and unwelcome. I did cancel my membership because of how distressing this experience was. We hope the gym takes this feedback seriously so other members do not face similar issues.

Having dedicated two decades to training in gyms, I can confidently assert that Protogym is, without question, my most cherished training facility.

From the moment I walked in, it was clear that Protogym is built for serious athletes. The breadth of its equipment is astounding (for a gym you don’t hear much about ie Brandon’s lair etc) from dumbbells reaching 200 lb, Olympic barbells and lifting platforms, to specialized strongman and powerlifting gear like bands , glute-ham raises, and reverse hyper. The facility also delivers a wide range of cardio options—Airdyne bikes, Jacobs ladders, rowers, steppers, treadmills—and a fully equipped boxing area featuring 100 lb and 200 lb heavy bags along with a wrecking‑ball bag .

The membership model is refreshingly straightforward—no inflated “Vegas” pricing here. Protogym offers secured access, no enrollment or cancellation fees, and flexible month‑to‑month plans. One group fitness class is included per month, with an option for unlimited classes available. Membership includes access to their proprietary training app, tools for nutrition consultations, and web‑based account management

In my experience, the gym is never overly busy—a rarity in my extensive bodybuilding powering strongwomen journey.

Pros:
• Exceptionally well-equipped for strength training, powerlifting, and functional workouts.
• Great value with competitive monthly pricing and no hidden fees or long-term commitments.
• Rarely crowded and pulsating with a community of serious, like-minded athletes.
• Includes a fitness app and group class options in the membership.

Cons (minor):
• Location in Henderson may be a bit of a trek depending on where you are in Las Vegas.

Would I recommend it? Without hesitation. Protogym succeeds in balancing elite-level equipment, affordability, and a dedicated, undiluted training environment. If you’re serious about your training—and value both quality and community—it doesn’t get much better.

I really like this gym. It has everything you could ever want. Although there are some missing equipment that I think are essential such as a hack squat/ pendulum and a good seated leg curl. Another thing is that some equipment is not short people friendly. So yes it’s nice they have it but either the cables are too stretched out or there is not seating selection for someone who is 5’0. The environment is really nice and its clean and everyone is really friendly and welcoming. So overall I’d recommend !

What really sets ProtoGym apart, though, is Mike, the owner. He pours his life into this place, bringing an unmatched attention to detail that no big box gym could ever offer. Just as an example, I asked if he could add a series of 0.5-pound increment dumbbells—like 12.5, 17.5, 22.5—and they were there in a week. Try getting that kind of responsiveness anywhere else! I have had many memberships over the years from exclusive boutiques to mixed martial arts to trendy big box gyms and just never had lasting results. So I tried the at home work out but that just wasn’t working either snd I didn’t want to give away my hard earned money to just done gym anymore… So I started searching around Henderson and was really just looking for a place that had a mixture of weights, was open early morning to late at night, was safe and if they had turf space and heavy bags I could box that would be a dream! But each gym that I came across didn’t have turf space or if they did it was like over $$$ and you had contract and membership fees… But then I came across Protogym! This place is absolutely amazing. Seriously. They have turf indoor and outdoor not to mention huge tractor tires and strong man equipment, ropes, assault bikes and treadmills and skierg…it’s like CrossFit meshed with HIIT and strong man but they didn’t forget the box gym standard weight and cardio machines. They even have a complete boxing area equipped with multiple bags.!!! It’s like an amusement park but for people who like to workout!

I feel excited each time I go for a work out not to mention it’s clean, very affordable and best of all the staff Erin, Anthony, Matt, and Annalise are very attentive, knowledgeable and kind. Thank you for bringing a great gym to this community!

It's fine, but I feel like it's definitely got a masculine energy. My boyfriend pays for my gym membership there so I can go with him. Stuff I like: you can basically use any of the equipment however you want. They have easily accessible bosu balls, yoga blocks, medicine balls, straps, etc. they have tires and sleds in a small yard you can flip/push. Lots of CrossFit friendly spaces. PLENTY of bar bell racks and bars. Things I'm not a fan of: it's kind of dirty; I feel like the only person who uses the optional spray cleaner/rag that's provided. Not sure if the stretching mats have ever been mopped. And certain racks and machines are set up so you're looking right at someone else across from you or your butt is facing out to the room and not the wall. Machines are just crowded. And maybe that's my own insecurity, but I avoid doing certain exercises there because I don't want to be on display while I do them. I wish more gyms had the equipment my physical therapist has - a leg press that doesn't start at 140lbs and a shuttle jump would be great as I'm currently healing from a shattered cuboid in my foot.

Overall I'd recommend it as it doesn't seem like a chain/corporation and the people there have been respectful enough. If you time it right you can go when it's less crowded, although I do wish it was open later than 10pm.

Extremely dirty facility, the staff never cleans and most members do not either. There is chalk on damn near everything. There is one hand sanitizing station at the front desk, that is it. Also, I don’t think the spray bottles they give you are disinfectant, pretty sure it is just vinegar. I had not worked out in a gym for a few years because of rude gym culture, decided to come back to one because it is just around the corner from my house. Terrible culture, rude members, as well as trainers that would stare me down/mad dog every time I went to workout. If you are not a “gym bro” type individual, this is not the gym for you. Also, several times while I was working out folks would take their shirts off during workouts without the staff saying anything. I don’t know if that is something allowed in this gym, if it is acceptable there then I stand corrected ; however, if that is allowed folks need to know that up front. Because that is gross and not allowed at any other health club I have ever worked in, or worked out at. I canceled my membership yesterday, and regret giving this joint my money for the past few months.

I walked in the other day hoping to check this place out and was given a great tour by Kim. She showed me the entire facility and explained their wonderful monthly plan and gave me a brief history of the owner's journey to starting PROTOGYM.

I signed up and had my first workout today and I feel so great! The people at the gym were very nice and courteous. I felt welcomed and also ignored at the same time (just the way I like it). I hope to be a member at this gym for a long time.

Amazing gym with SO MUCH EQUIPMENT. Great for calisthenics, Olympic lifts, HIIT cardio, heavy bags, even Strongman training. I’ve never had to struggle finding a squat rack to do my compound lifts and all for no contract with a fair monthly price. No pool or sauna in case you were looking for that but that’s about the only thing they’re missing. 6/5 stars

Definitely a nice gym, but you can tell it isn't a main line style gym. Spacious, plenty of free weights, small selection of cardio equipment neatly placed on a span above a stretching area. They have their own eatery called ProtoBites which is neat, but the selection isnt very large. I've seen and been to nicer, but this gym is absolutely a nicer a experience than several of the bigger gyms.

I travel for work and have been to over a hundred gyms all over the country. Protogym is easily one of the very best gyms I've ever been to.

The space and equipment are extremely well maintained, and kept very clean. Members are respectful and put weights away. There's a food truck outside that you can place bulk order meal prep foods with (plus soft serve protein ice cream). The owner has put a ton of work into making the space incredible. Legitimately could not more highly recommend a gym for anyone in the area.

Protogym is the gym other gyms want to grow up to be. Everyone is extremely respectful and there to actually work out. It's not like other gyms where people are there for selfies and the massage chair. This gym is built with love and care for all things fitness by the owner, Mike, who takes personal pride in his gym, and it really shows.
If you want high quality equipment in an no pressure atmosphere this is your spot. No joke, my husband and I actually took this gym's location into consideration when we were buying our house because we didn't want to move too far away.
Outside of how cool this gym is, there is no contracts or cancelation fees. Just one monthly fee, and no hard sales pitch. They also have classes that will kick your rear into shape and make you realize what's you're truly capable of.

**Nobody was asking for a hard sale. I've been in sales my whole life. It's business common sense. When a customer comes to you, interested, that is called a HOT lead. Show them you care about wanting their business and follow up with them. Or have any kind of good customer service and at least ask the person's name you are talking to. The customer service was lacking for sure. When I called here first to inquire, the person on the phone bad mouthed my gym I have been with for 12 years as well. Totally unprofessional. Unless you don't care about having new customers of course. Businesses grow by gaining new customers and having good customer service. Everything is sales. Doesn't mean it has to be "hard sales" either. I came here to inquire about joining and I told the guy I was planning on cancelling my other gym membership but new to the area and looking for a new gym. The guy gave me a tour but totally seemed uninterested. He had zero energy and the entire gym's energy was just lacking. Well I decided since I had already paid for my other gym that month, and Protogym wanted $15 to workout that day, I would just wait until the 1st of the month. But here is the kicker, the guy never asked me my name, didn't ask me for my email of phone #, and truly just didn't seem to care whether I would come back or not. This gym seems to be happy with the clients they have and don't care about gaining any new ones. Had they followed up with me, I would have joined but he simply didn't seem at all interested in my business obviously. I took my business across the street to EOS and I also joined FitClub LV.

I used to hate going to the gym. Even when I pushed myself to go I could only last thirty minutes before I wanted to go home.

Protogym changed that. I love coming here and I lose track of the time here.

Tried visiting here while on vacation visiting family. My wife had messaged the gym on Instagram to confirm they offered day passes. They said they did, but they didn’t mention that a staff member had to be on site to do that. [EDIT] We came here within the “staffed” hours but no staff were present (we did not come during a holiday). [END EDIT]

When we arrived, a member let us (the gym is 24/7 key card access style) and suggested we try using the gym’s digital member services screen to get our day pass. We tried for a while but it didn’t work since a staff member was required to scan us in anyway. Very frustrating that they didn’t mention this at the outset.

The three stars I’m giving are for the gym itself (assuming you can even get in) which was quite nice. It has an overall functional layout a la CrossFit. Wish I could have worked out here!

Found myself recently working in the area for 3 weeks. Went in to get a month membership and wow! Mike the owner was super friendly and rate for the month was cheaper than most in the area charger per week! This place is amazing! Great balance between a CrossFit and bodybuilding gym. Really has something for everyone.
So many times I walked back to my hotel after my workout saying man I wish this was my home gym. Owner Mike, is always working, always said hello when I entered. Summary - best gym ever I wish I had one in my hometown. This is the right product that people have been wanting for a long time.

This is an open letter to the gym owners, staff, members, prospective members, and people look at gyms.

This gym is awesome. I was on leave to take care of a family member for 2 months and Protogym gave me a place to workout and follow my programming. They have the equipment, they have hours, and they do it all without a confusing pricing structure.

Want to know what their price structure is? No BS, flat monthly rate and no sign up, no cancellation, no minimum lock in, no "cancel by 2 weeks and 23 hours before the billing date or your get billed" BS. No BS, just pay your month and go workout.

Want to know their hours? 24/7

Want to know their rules? Do you know how to do the exercise safely and not injure yourself - good, do the thing get it done. If you don't know ask, they will help you out! If you hurt yourself, like any other gym, you signed that away in liability anyway even at the large commercial gyms with smiling faces or your moldy apartment gym, you sign away that liability.

Want some personal training? Ask about it, you won't get assaulted for it like other places.

Is this a newbie welcoming place? Yes. Come in, ask about stuff and how to do some things, staff is super friendly and open.

Is this a place to coddle your imposter syndrome to an extreme like a purple and yellow helicopter parent? No. Get over it, people come to a gym to workout, not judge your level of performance. If you're in the gym everyone supports you and your goals. If you need coddling go to the purple and yellow place.

I can't thank Protogym for doing what they do enough. This is exactly what a gym should be and I hope to see them expand and grow into the future. They are doing things right for their market.

Great local gym! Come and go as you please. No contracts. Affordable. No big gym B.S.! And they're expanding to a larger location! Protogym is like a family. Something you just don't have with big commercial gyms.

Awesome place to work out, lots of Crossfit style equipment set up, great for a well rounded workout with lots of options . Only negative is it is small so when they are having classes you can get crowded quick

This was the perfect gym for me:
* low monthly membership fee
* no contract
* all necessary equipment for a good workout.
* easy in / out access any time with the eKey they provided
The staff is really great and helpful, and I was asked to keep the key for my next stay in Henderson.
Thanks for the awesome opportunity to get back in shape during my two week visit to Henderson, NV. Love you all at Protogym for making this possible! Hoping to get back to Henderson soon!

This gym is an awesome place to get strong, with a wonderful selection of equipment. The owner, Mike, is friendly and knowledgeable. You just wont find another hardcore weight gym this great. I love it and will be back everyday to build that muscle! -Z

By far the best gym around. This is not your average globo-gym. Lots of free weights, slam balls, kettlebells, power racks and open space. No contracts, no fees, no frills. All that being said they still manage to maintain a friendly family environment. Come check it, you will not be disappointed.
