Man - Got a good deal on golf now. Given the normal price during peak times I was expecting an amazing course. Meh...course was in decent condition but the setup was annoying. 2 club houses, 2 places to get food and drinks, was redirected multiple times. Got there an hour and 15 minutes early but by the time i got a breakfast burrito, my cart and loaded things from my car l had less than 20 minutes to warm up.
the lakes course was difficult and thats not the courses issue, thats mine. But at least one or two holes that aren't par 3s where you can actually see your ball land would be appreciated. most par 4s and 5s your driving into unseen territory.
The food - absolute garbage, and ive had bad food in my life. this takes the cake. the "to go" snack shop at the turn advertises a bunch of ready to go items, but only half were ready to go. OK no biggie - get the chicken caesar wrap. It was mushy and terrible with wilted lettuce. Its as if they took an uncooked tortilla and stuffed it with last week's leftovers from Raleys. For a course of this "stature" I expected more. Wont be back unless itβs free and someone invites me. gag me on the experience here.
Oh - and dont even get me started on the golf carts. no where near the green and they cut your speed to 1/2 mile an hour while yelling at you to get on the cart path. meanwhile players behind you wondering why the hell you're moving so slow on your golf cart. sorry - taking me 20 minutes to cross the fairway.....
Oh and lastly⦠rocks in the bunkers??? Sorry but I spent way too much on clubs to let you ruin them because you have rocks in your bunkers.

Iβm only leaving a review of the Lakes golf course. This course was in terrific shape last year, I played it many times. I played the course today and it was in really rough shape. The worst part of it is Red Hawk increased their green fees to outrageous levels this year, and the course nowhere near matches the price. Most of the bunkers are loaded with gravel and rocks. Many ground under repair sections with attempts to either put down new sod, or grow new grass that look neglected and terrible. I just feel like for the money the value is nowhere near there.

Red hawk is the laughing stock of the golf courses in Reno. By FAR the most expensive public course and for absolutely no good reason. Greens are choppy and look like there growing a disease on them. The sand is straight rocks and dirt. Was my home course growing up and it used to be so convenient and fun to play and so disappointed how far it's fallen compared to other courses around the area. Other courses are relatively the same price and upping there standards, Red Hawk is doing the opposite. They think there a luxury course and resort and it's laughable. Play any other course your wallet will thank me later.

The course is in pretty good shape. It's a little confusing that you have to drop your clubs at the main facility the drive a long path to get to the pro-shop to pay then drive around the corner to a shack with the starter.

Myself along with about 20 other golfers from the CalPacific Golf Club recently played 2 days at RH on Thursday/Friday and had a GREAT time thanks to the courses, as well as the wonderful staff. SPecial shout out goes to Cart Girl Susan who I had the pleasure of meeting both days and the only thing better than the fantastic drinks she poured was her smiling and cheerful demeanor. SHe made our entire experience that much better!

The Lakes course is challenging. The greens are bumpy and the sand traps are very compacted. Enjoyed the layout with lots of water hazards.
The pace of play was rough. Took us just just short of 5 hrs to play the round. 3 of those hours were on the back 9. π©
Still a nice course, look forward to playing it again.

Played Red Hawk recently, and while the round wasnβt bad, it certainly didnβt justify the $130 green fee.
The course itself is... fine. Conditions were averageβgreens and fairways were playable but nothing special. The layout didnβt stand out, and the overall experience felt like something you'd expect from a $70β$80 course, not one charging nearly double that.
Pace of play was slow with no visible course management, and the amenities were underwhelming for the price. No range balls included, carts were basic, and clubhouse service was minimal. At this price point, you expect at least one elementβcourse quality, service, or sceneryβto be exceptional. Unfortunately, none of them were.
Red Hawk Hills isnβt a bad place to golf, but if you're paying $130, there are better values elsewhere. Wouldnβt rush back unless the rates come down significantly.

We had a 2-day event that our out of town group of 50 participated in this past weekend. Our group of 20 golfers on Thursday got to experience the Nevada wind on the stunning Hills course. Jake and team made our event fun and easy!!
Dinner on Friday was spectacular. The Mahi Mahi and Pork were some of the best we've ever had. JJ our server and Ken our bartender did a great job of keeping the guests happy. The Member's Lounge area was just perfect for our group.

Took my 5yr old here on sat late afternoon. They charged us $35 for him to sit in the cart with me. Not even a busy day. Maybe putt a couple times. I was unfortunately gifted a talon club membership here for the year. Sad to say I have 11 rounds left to use for free. Over priced. Mold on greens. Bunkers are ponds. Tee boxes have more slopes than the Hills course alone. Didnβt know I was playing Washoe. This place needs a reality check. Very unfortunate to live so close to there.

This is a 80$ course on its best day. To charge 170$ a round here is laughable when your putting on mold on green #1. You can play a ranked course like grizzley ranch for the same cost. Do not recommend

Golf course is over priced. Should be 80 or 100 on weekends for the shape it's in. No maintenance Traps were bad not even fluffed or raked especially on father's day . Pro would give it a 3 star . Probably be awhile before we return to many other courses in better shape for less and I live down the road off vista.

I played in our annual #slice and dice Golf tournament there , Hills Course, with friends of decades. The course was in excellent shape, the greens were beautiful and rolled smoothly with perfect weather , made for a great outing! In addition, the cart girl Susan was amazing, always smiling, friendly and very pretty! And in addition, worked hard, i think we saw her 4 times during the one round! Always there when needed and then some! Thanks Susan!

Grew up learning to play golf here over the past 15 years and was absolutely appalled by the happenings of today. Came to hit range balls like I do 2/3 times a week and was told that my Adidas mock neck golf shirt did not fit their policy. Not a warning, not a one time grace, just no. PGA tour players can go to some of the best courses in the world and wear a mock neck but I canβt at Red Hawk of all places. I come out here all the time to people in tennis shoes and cargo shorts but nothing to them? I am embarrassed by the culture and reputation this course seems to be moving to. Can promise that Red Hawk will never get my money again. My company sponsors tournaments for Red Hawk through the contractors association, and on Monday I will make sure that will no longer be happening. Sad to see such a great part of my memory be washed away when it could have been handled so much differently.

Have golfed at Redhawk for years. Recently I have got my 6 year old son into the game. Figured it was the last day of school and I would book a late afternoon tee time and take him with me. Booked it and told the golf shop that I was bringing my 6 year old son. I show up and they refuse to let my son play a 2:24 tee time on a weekday because he βdidnβt have a collared shirtβ. This is despicable behavior from a local golf course for a late afternoon tee time. I have never seen my son go from so excited to so dissapointed. Redhawk should support children getting into the game, not looking for reasons to keep them from playing. If youβre looking to get your children into the game of golf, take them somewhere else.

This course should NEVER be allowed to host another NIAA golf tournament! Charging $50 for a spectator cart is twice what all the other courses charged and then not having your snack bar open for both days of the tournament was a JOKE!! Pin placements on Tuesday were borderline illegal and made NO SENSE given the extremely difficult weather conditions. Why did you choose to demoralize all the young participants and their families with these horrible decisions?!

Once my favorite golf course after moving here from San Diego.
As of 2024 season it has been terrible.
3 hours for 9 holes.
The staff is friendly but the marshals do absolutely nothing.
They donβt have water.
They don't correct the pace.
Just drive around smiling.
Only time the marshal says anything is when they want you to turn the carts in so they can go home.
If you want to drive 30 minutes to golf, just go to Toiyabe where they care about your experience and youβll save on the tee time.

My son and I played some winter golf on the Hills course on Saturday March 9th. Weather was nice -- sunny and in the mid-50s, witht he wind not bad although kicking up a little in the late round (around 2pm at that point). There was a frost or cold delay that kicked out 10:10 am tee time to 10:30. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition, especially considering the month of the year. Jut not a lot of green color to be had... Course marshall was super-friendly and he admired the fact that we were wearing shorts (as I always do) ;) Pace of play was good -- we were a tw-some sandwiched between two foursomes, but everyone was moving along pretty well. All-in-all a great day playing golf with my adult son (except for the part where he took $25 in the Nassau with pops).

This has to do more with how much it costs here to play, now. Talon Club is outrageous. You used to be able to get the membership for $100-$199. Discounted tee times and you never paid, anytime, more than $69 on the weekends. Now they have tiers and the benefits are terrible. They also has a season where you could play after 4pm for $25. Since Troon took over, it has been very high priced! Over $100 a round for early tee times. Seems to be the highest priced course in the area. They are nice courses but there are plenty others to play. And yes, I know, just dont play it then! Which I dont! Give me the Duncan 50 Mile Club any day, over this!
Update 12-28-24β¦ booked a tee time at 10:30. Wasnβt told it was shotgun start. $75 in December. Golfnow offered for $59. Why such a discrepancy? Cart path only on a cool, windy day. All tee boxes had two 4-somes. I know why but a heads up would have been nice. Pricing is bad. Come on, Red Hawk. Treat your locals better!

I'll never play there again ,You can't take the cart off the path , they gave everyone a 10:30 tee without telling them it was going to be a shotgun start , it was back up and jacked up every hole , it took 4 hours to play 12 holes

I had a terrible experience at Red Hawk Golf. $50 was fine until the rude marshall sat behind us for 4 holes and kept telling us to go faster even though we were the only people playing the course. He would make rude comments saying βat this rate you guys wonβt finish before darkβ and even tried to make us bring our carts back an hour early. Seems like the guy just wanted to get off work early and picked us to be his issue. Most likely wonβt go back until that guys gone. Save some money and time and go play lake ridge.

Great course and was perfectly fine with the $50 we paid for an evening tee time. That was until the Marshall followed behind us starting at hole 12. He told us we needed to have our carts in by 7:45 when we really needed to have them in at 8:30. We finished up hole 14 around 8:00 and he comes back up behind us and tells us to just go play 18 and go home because in his words, βat the rate your playing youβll be lucky to finish that one before dark.β We were able to finish 2 more holes after that and have our carts in before 8:30.

I played a round there in mid May. The course was in very good shape. Though I booked as a single and it was my first time on the course, the starter was kind enough to pair me with a couple guys who knew the course well. We were the same age and our skills were comparable, which made for an enjoyable day of golf, played in about four hours. We waited on no one and we were never pushed. I can't remember exactly what I paid to play, but I'll say it was certainly worth the cost. The greens rolled true, the sand in the bunkers was great and the tee boxes and fairways were fine. I would absolutely play there again.

The biggest reason this gets a 2 is the pin placements. The greens keeper chooses violence almost every time Iβve played. Always 1-4 paces in the front or back, or on a diabolical slope. There is NO mercy at this course. You can 3 putt from 10 feet multiple times. Iβve played every course in Northern Nevada and I will say hands down these are the worst/hardest. To make things more challenging, the greens are decently fast. If youβre a beginner/intermediate stay away from this one. Course is nice, prices are high. Nice bunkers and fairways.

5 out of 5 for reception facilities and servers and cooks. The food was delicious and Eric and Rick were attentive and kind
3 out of 5 for Use of women's changing room for bridesmaids forca wedding that day. Our dressing room was uncomfortably hot. A member who was not a part of the party rudely bardge in our room, demanding that she needed to use the restroom in our lounge vs the hallway restroom that's labeled for member use explaining that because she was a member she could use our restroom without invitation. Our wedding party immediately told her to leave and use the restroom in the hallway. That was a undeniable display of "privilege" that should not be allowed at that golf course.

Only ate dinner here, so i cannot comment on the course or the rooms.
Food was well prepared and arrived in a timely manner. The Chicken Picata got high marks and my Gnocchi with Chicken Sausage in a cream sauce was very tasty although the Gnocchi could have been lighter.
Wine list is decent and priced fairly. The dining room and hall have all manner of old sports equipment and memorabilia so it's interesting to check it out.
Unfortunately our server was obviously new and a little overwhelmed although he was very friendly and polite. We had to ask another server for cutlery once the food was served.
We sat outside on the shaded patio and there was live music, which many folks were enjoying and dancing to. However it was a bit loud for us to carry on a conversation easily. A pity as we were catching up with friends.
Overall we enjoyed our meal and would happily return.

Found this resort by accident while playing Senior Softball at the Golden Eagle Regional Park. Liked the area and villas so much since it was only a few minutes from the fields. Canceled hotel in Sparks and spent last part of tourney here. Management allowed late check out on last day so that I could use the showers after tournament before flying back to Colorado. I would highly recommend this resort for teams playing on the fields at Golden Eagle especially senior softball teams as the bar and outdoor sitting area are great for after game get togethers.

Sitting at the bar and gambling tipped the bartender at least $50 and they still charged us for drinks and the food. Don't get the salmon it gave my daughter food poisoning.

Movie on the Green is a great experience.
Our most recent visit: We do not recommend the party room. The catered food is substandard which does not reflect the main restaurant that has an excellent selection.

Two well kept golf courses. Both courses are different, challenging and interesting. To play 18 is reasonably priced. My favorite thing about this course is they don't pair you as a two-some with another two-some or add a single to your three-some. It lets you play with who you want to play with. The service is got or miss. The guys at the start are usually very friendly but the guys in the shop look and act like they hate their lives.
