My daughter has been coming here since she was a few months old and loves going to her swim lessons and has learned a lot! Only reason I give it 4 stars is due to her most recent class having inconsistent teachers but otherwise friendly and patient teachers!

We have gone to Silver Bear Swim School on and off for the last 5 years with our two kids. I have been so impressed with the instructors and the rest of the staff and how they deal with kids who love swimming as well as the kids that don’t. I have watched them work with a toddler on his first day, melting down, kicking and screaming and they handled it in such a calm and professional way.

My daughter also has good days and bad days when it comes to swimming. The other week she had a kicking and screaming moment so I took her outside to try to calm her down. After a few minutes Michelle, the deck manager, came out and sat down with us. She tried to figure out what was scaring my daughter, if there was a way we could just get her to sit by the pool that day, anything to help ease her fears. I was so grateful and impressed that she went out of her way to try to help. Her patience and kindness was amazing and she was able to get my daughter to talk to her.

We have had nothing but great experiences with the staff and program at Silver Bear Sparks.

My daughter was scared to start her first lesson. When we left she was loving it, and can't wait to go back. She had a blast, and she is already swimming better than when we went in (only 30 min later).

Unimpressed with the administration.
When my son was originally born I put him on the wait list since I anticipated him being on there for a while due to the demand post-COVID and seeing multiple other moms talking about the wait list.
I get a singular phone call 2 years later that they have re-opened their wait list in a voicemail. They called me while I was on vacation and unable to respond.
Across social media they post that they have availability, my mom connects with them as she would like to pay for the lessons as a birthday present for my son and they confirm there is availability at the Sparks location and give her the instructions to get my son registered. The same day I submit the registration request. A week later I get an email saying I need to submit a registration form. Thinking I missed it, I submit another one on the same day.
It's not been a month of no-contact even though we were told once the registration form is in they will call us immediately to finalize him as a student. My mom connects today and she is told that he was put back on the waitlist since he registered a month ago.

It's super frustrating already trying to balance a work schedule with the times they are available but getting the run around about when he will start these lessons is unacceptable. As a working parent, I need to communicate if I'm leaving work early to go to a swim lesson, a conversation I had already and now is a long lead time of when it's convenient for them without any communication. Why did *I* have to reach back out if he was put on a waitlist which didn't exists when I signed him up? Completely mismanaged admin wise which is super frustrating.

I had a friend highly recommend this program to me too, her son is the same age and we registered at the same time. She hasn't had nearly as many issues as I have in this process which adds insult to injury.

What a great activity for little ones. My grandson takes classes here. He is learning to swim, float, kick, as well as hold his breath. A wonderful for baby and me classes.

There is a waiting room for parents or others to observe and more space available just to the side of the pool. This is where most parents sit. Each child goes in with a parent or caregiver and the instructor.

My grandson's instructor is so caring and encouraging. She is a true GEM. My grandson absolutely loves his swim class.

The pool is heated. The motto is "Where people who love kids teach kids to swing." How beautiful is that?

Nice large parking lot. Kind instructors and admin, clean facility.

Transferred here from another Silver Bear location here in Reno. Transferred due to lack of progress and/or care at previous location. The kids looked worse in the pool than the first day I brought them. My kids came to the Sparks location ready to quit swimming out of frustration with former location. After a few months at Sparks location, my kids love swimming again. They have made HUGE progress, and are even ready to join a splash ball league. I make a 45 minute commute to get to the Sparks location, but they make it worth my while. Thank you!

I wish I could give 0 star to this place I don’t even know where to start my 2 yo son looove being in the water and we decided to take him to this place that way he can know more stuff and have fun and to enjoy and he always looking forward go to his swimming class and play and all but one of the instructor ( I wish I would of gotten her name) missed everything up!!! And now his all traumatized to go to any pools if the child is saying NO And that he doesn’t feel comfortable putting his face down while you holding his head or you trying to dip his face in and don’t want to u STOP it right there!! Or try to make even fun not force it!!! Even if he is crying already!!! And the stuff that he doesn’t wanna do u don’t force it!! U gotta be patient let him do whenever he wants and ready to go!! So to ALL PARENTS OUT THERE BE AWARE! And pay ATTENTION!

First time taking my great grandson to swim with Nikki. She seemed to really take special care in regard to Carter's 'quirks' by gently coaxing him to cooperate with her instructions. That is so important to me. I feel that, along with family encouragement and Nikki's skills, he will be able to master swimming.

A great swim school, my son has learned a lot. However they have an almost inhumane make up policy. They only allow one make up class per month EVEN FOR ILLNESS. Allowing additional make-up classes for illness-related absences would not only demonstrate a commitment to the students' well-being but also foster a stronger sense of trust and loyalty among parents.

While this swim school provides adequate instruction and facilities, its inflexible make-up policy, particularly regarding illness-related absences, is a significant drawback. The restriction of only one make-up class fails to consider the unpredictable nature of children's health and places undue stress on both the students and their families. I hope that the swim school takes this feedback into consideration and revises its make-up policy to better accommodate the needs of its students. Also please advise your employee named Kensie to be nice, its a shame for a great company like Silver Bear to have a rude employee.

The waitlist was super long and it took a year to get in, but it was worth it! My little one was afraid to swim and would not put her face in the water. One lesson later and she was putting her face in the water and excited to be swimming.

My son has been swimming here since he was 7 months old (now 2.5 years old).
The facility and staff are beyond amazing. They love their kids SO much. We are beyond thankful to have such an amazing place for this little dude to learn how to swim. Not only has this school taught him how to swim but has taught him countless other life skills.
I also worked here for a small time and as a mother I can tell you they are just as amazing behind the scenes as they are out in action. I trust them with my precious cargo through and through ❀️
The price is worth it and you will not be disappointed with this amazing crew!

My niece loves her swim classes here. I enjoyed getting to watch her learn and liked that the instructor kept her engaged in her lesson. Believe me, that’s not easy. I liked the style of teaching that I observed, it seemed like small steps building on the last. Saw lots of encouragement from the instructors. When I asked how my niece liked her lesson it was all thumbs up and smiles.

We love Silver Bear Swim. Our older one been attending for over 4 years. We never had or have complaints but after COVID things changed. We are on a waiting list for our son for a while now and I'm not even sure how many lists are there. We were told that we would be contacted at some point. Reception person has no clue what is going on. Asked to sign up for a family swim - she said go online. Asked about SBST program that we received an email on 3/30 and want to sign up. She told us that might be over and April 18 was the last day to sign up. No clue why this person is representing the front desk when she doesn't know anything.Who do we ask then???

Silver Bear Swim is wonderful. Our daughter looks forward to swim every week and is smiling from ear to ear the entire time. Jenny is very patient and really knows how to work with special needs kiddos. If you have a special needs child and want them comfortable with water, I highly recommend Silver Bear Swim.

Extremely happy with this swim school!! They operate with excellence. They think of all the details. They hire teachers who truly enjoy being with children. The water is so warm. The pool was built specifically for lessons. Their program is divided into measurable, realistic short term goals, and they reward the children. I have watched my children make incredible progress! Puts a momma's heart at ease. My kids also love it. I cannot say enough good about them.

Just started my boys here and so far so good. The swim teacher Michelle is the best I love her. Pretty expensive to me though. I feel a small amount of bait and switch to be honest. At first it was just my two kids in the class after 3 sessions they had moved our time and teacher and now there will be 4 kids in the class. It's only a 30 minute session that doesn't leave much time to learn when they can only work with one child at a time. Hopefully the kids will catch on quick! Everybody is really nice and helpful.

Silver Bear Swim School is great with children. My kid loves to go there. He is slowly learning the crawl and other strokes. Swimming is only once per week. It would be great if there were more lessons, especially during longer school holidays and summer. There are a maximum of 4 children in a class but they have plenty of instructors. One or two make-up lessons are allowed in a month. You can only schedule a makeup lesson the week after you are gone and you may be competing with other families for a spot. If you go on a longer vacation, you can withdraw for up to 5 months without having to totally re-register. The makeup rules are pretty strict. You can schedule extra lessons beyond your regularly scheduled class for half price which is about $12.50. Their current cost is $100 for one thirty minute lesson each week of the month. Once a year they have a safety training day with the kids . Adults can watch from an enclosed, glassed off area. During the last 5 minutes of every lesson, parents meet their child pool side and the instructor tells you what your child is learning and how they are progressing and it includes a very brief demonstration by the child. The good thing about Silver Bear is that they can work around the parent's schedule. We have custody to schedule around every other week so it works for us. That is the best advantage of Silver Bear for us as we need to schedule classes around Cub Scout meetings and custody.
