Sports West is one of the Premier athletic clubs in Northern Nevada! There have been many recent updates, including flooring and the weight machines. I love the full body 'Hoist' equipment!

In addition to the juice bar, and free coffee for members and guests, the awesome and attentive staff take care of the members.

Facilities include multiple weight rooms, plenty of cardio equipment, a wonderful swimming pool and coed Spa, a racquetball court, Child Care area and a full service Spa.
There are many classes available for members and guests and the aquatics programs are excellent!

I’ve been going to Sports West for a few years now, mainly for the pool. I’ve been able to get access to the lanes pretty reliably, the temperature of the water is usually a reasonable balance for hard aerobic swimming and for anyone doing light/easy swimming. The weight room is well equipped and has additional features like a lifting platform, kettlebells. Highly recommend this gym

I don't know how this place stays in business. all equipment is old. it's an old gym with bougie staff that literally told me that my 5 yo daughter needed a membership to swim with me in the pool for 1 hr. And, NO kids are allowed in the locker rooms. It's basically an outdated, overpriced, anti- family/children gym.

I love Sports West! It’s more than just a gym for me, it’s truly a part of my routine and wellbeing. The Kids Club has been a game changer; my kids love it, and knowing they’re happy and cared for gives me the freedom to focus on my workouts.

There are so many great classes to choose from — I especially enjoy the ones in the infrared room, and the Pilates classes have been amazing too. This past winter, I used the sauna regularly, and it made a big difference during the colder months.

I love gym. My only complaints and this has nothing to do with gym is customers sitting in equipment to surf their phone and people not putting equipment away late at night. I say this isn’t the gym’s fault cause there’s only one staff member so they can’t be expected to pick up after rude customers, but during the day when I’ve gone and there’s more staff theses issues don’t seem to happen so it’s a customer issue not a gym issue hence 5 stars

I switched over to Sports West from PF around a year ago, mostly because they had a kids club, BEST DECISION EVER! The wonderful people who watch my kid, especially Harmonie are amazing and my daughter looks forward to going everyday. The gym is great and has every type of equipment you could want or need. I tried this place out yesterday, and I really liked it. Some of the things that stood out were the indoor pool/ jacuzzi, the constant cleaning of the ladies' locker room, and the overall vibe in the weight room/cardio areas.

The pool and jacuzzi area had no kids splashing around, and it was in side away from the sun. There are 4 lanes to swim laps (2 are open, and the other 2 are for reservations only). I hate swimming in pools where they have snot floating around from swimmers blowing it out of their noses. I know it's natural, but it really grosses me out. This pool is small enough that the filters are able to keep it from floating snot. I would definitely choose this gym as a place to swim.

I was really impressed with the locker room attendants who make sure the steam room, sauna, showers, floors, and seating areas are constantly being checked, cleaned, and sanitized.

The front counter manager was so nice, serious, but not too strict about anything. Just very friendly and professional while being easy to talk to.

They have a children's center away from the rest of the gym, so you won't even notice kids being there, which I like. I really loved the relaxing environment for adults only.

I would recommend this place for people who practice yoga, too. I took a class and it was so chill.

Wow, Sports West is AMAZING. Their equipment is always well maintained and clean. My personal trainer Sandi is great!! She is so helpful and works within my limits. I can tell she cares and has my best interests at heart. If I'm in pain or need to take things slow, she is always so understanding!! I feel like I get a good workout and get stronger every day with Sandi. Sports West is never too crowded and people are always willing to share machines. I have made several friends around my age (78yo) at Sportswest and love that we can socialize and workout together and never feel pressure to hurry up or get off a machine. SportsWest was a great investment in my health!! And yay!! I just won a free year membership by rating SW a 5. Unbelievable!! I can't wait to tell my trainer, Sandi!!

After researching the area and other gyms, I choose Sports West for several reasons. 24hr Access, A Pool, and Personal Trainers. My work-life schedule has changed and I’m still trying to adjust to it so I can find time to going back.

Love this gym. I mostly use it for swimming. They have a salt water pool, which is much easier on my skin than conventional chlorine pools. Plus, I love that you can reserve a lane and don’t have to circle or split lanes with people, just makes it really relaxing to get in a good swim without worrying about if you can keep up with other people.

I really didn’t like my overall experience at Sports West. I initially signed up because I live half a mile from the gym and wanted to swim laps in the pool/use the gym equipment. When I toured the facility it seemed decent, and even though I was concerned about how small it was, I was told it never gets crowded. As I started to come to the gym, it seemed to always be crowded, have no room to workout, and the equipment was all old and rusted. I literally signed up in February and cancelled a month later because I didn’t like my experience and they still charged me even after I cancelled because it is there “policy” to continue to charge you $70. I even spoke with 3 different people on the phone who I explained that I paid a ton of money for startup fees, the monthly membership, and they still won’t refund me for charging me after I cancelled. It is absolutely not worth $70/month for that’s for sure. I would not recommend going here.

Went to Sports West for almost a year. The place looks nice in and out from a far but ultimately up close it is far from nice. The gym does not enforce rules within the locker rooms. Moreover, you will have to walk on wet floors and have to look at an unprecedented number of older males walking around naked. The treadmill machines have issues almost every single time I ever used them and if they do work you unfortunately you cannot escape the FOX News commercials that takeover the display of the treadmill and never switch back causing you to lose all the data from your session. The gym is ideal for the older community based on my experiences with right wing politics being forced upon my every session at this gym such as FOX News being displayed on every television at the gym. The front desk people could not effectively help me retrieve my missing beats headphone over weeks of communicating with different employees working there and ultimately had to give up on my search for my missing headphone even after they called to confirm that they had found it due to the manager telling me that they no longer had it in possession. The gym is good for people who want to take lots of classes of different forms of fitness and who appreciate the amenities such as the pool, sauna and steam room which I will admit were the only consistent aspects of this gym that make it worth the money and why it earns 1 star. Lastly, I tried to cancel after the 14th and was told that even though there is no contract there is a rule that I must terminate the membership by the 14th of the previous month or else the payment will already be set up in the "queue". Resulting in me having to pay another $114 for an entire month of membership that don't plan to use. I would not recommend going to this gym unless you care solely on having a range of classes to take and amenities that are actually working or really love Fox News. (Original Review)

I am adding to my original review of this gym not because I am bored and have nothing to do but because the owner DeeDee had sent me a collections notice attempting to collect $98.00 from me for a payment of "monthly dues" not going through in October. However, in the letter they stated October was the month that the dues didn't go through but the date they listed in the letter was from August. Meanwhile, I have successfully paid every payment from August through October and have the banking records to prove it. They also are attempting to collect dues for the incorrect amounts. They are asking for $68.00 for dues and $30.00 for a chargeback fee when I actually paid $113.00 for my membership. The fact that they listed a different date than the month they are claiming my payment didn't go through as well as charging me for an amount that I never paid once while being a member there shows how wrong and misguided this establishment is... specifically the owner DeeDee. This is an attempt at revenge for leaving a 1 star review of her establishment and if you read more of her reviews you can clearly see she has a history of this behavior. Not only did I over hear her workers reading the information on my account stating that my account is flagged for posting a bad review but the owner when confronted with this information had no answers and hung up the phone on me. Should have just taken the L but instead she decided to continue harassing her former members through attempting to collect false payments through lies.

Most of the staff are friendly. But limited space to workout. Worst dumbbells I have ever seen. You need to carry all weights equipment to equipment. Shower feels like in prison. Overpriced under these conditions. Also they need to change the cafe system. They don't have apple pay, you have to carry your wallet and card reader takes forever so you may get cold.

I have made this my regular gym and it has been going great! I can swim laps with a reservation, weight lift, then go sit in the steam room or hot tub. I can't wait to get into all of the classes.

I’ve been playing racquetball here for the last 5 years and I’m thankful that they kept a court. I find everyone to be very nice and I like the amenities such as the sauna and hot tub. Please never take the court away!

0 STARS sucks . Hello everyone. With my traveling job all over the US I have to go to different gyms. Everything was always fine but today something completely absurd happened. Sport West Athletics Club is completely incompetent in terms of operational activities. At 8pm I went to this gym, which is open 24 hours and they did not allow me to work out because I do not have a client card and their office is closed. How is this possible? The gym says that they are open 24 hours. And about this, they do not have a sufficiently adequate service for people arriving after 8 pm to their gym? As a manager, I believe that the management should be changed or retrained. This is simply absurd and I am encountering this for the first time. That is, I tell them as a client. LET ME IN TO THE GYM TO WORK OUT FOR $ 35, and they answer NO, WE CAN'T 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Very bad customer service, had to wait for an hour to be told that we were not welcome for a one day training day without paying. Tried pushing $120 memberships, this left a bad taste in my mouth. Website said one day free test training, apparently only for locals.

Sports West AC has pretty much everything one could want in a health club: Open 24/7, clean fresh towels, super friendly courteous staff, well maintained equipment, and in addition to a large whirlpool, there are M's & W's saunas, there are also steam rooms, which are very hard to find these days!

Nice gym. Just wish there was an area/multipurpose room that can be accesible with my monthly membership. Places like fitness for ten and fitness connection are a fraction of the cost, where an area is always available to get a workout in. Be it plyometrics, sprints, ab workout. If there’s a class starting, They will kick you out of the room even if you’re taking up 3x3 feet - Which I understand. However, not having a solution to this problem is what I don’t understand.

Update: I am a member at this gym. The fact that this email address isn’t on file does not negate that. Initially, I left a generous 3-star review, hoping for improvement. However, after reading the owner's response, I'm reducing it to 1 star. Please consider how other businesses handle dissatisfied reviews—they offer solutions, not rebuttals. For example, posting the times when the room is available for members not interested in group classes would be a simple fix. Instead of offering such a solution, your response mirrors the rude tone mentioned in many reviews.

This place is fabulous! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is super clean. It’s a really great place with so much to offer from the smoothies, personal trainers, special events, tons of specialty classes and it even has a spa & salon connected to it. Our Hoist machines are amazing! As a Pilates instructor, I love the targeted intensity but low joint impact. I made significant changes in body fat, muscle mass, & metabolic rate in only 4 weeks! I look forward to my workouts now.

Expensive, rude, free weights suck. If you’re going to join a club in Reno, pass on Sports West. I tried calling to inquire about membership several times, no one was available, no calls returned. When I finally stopped by in person, the woman at the desk was very short and unwelcoming, and wanted a ton of personal information before I decided to join/met with membership staff— most likely so I could be incessantly emailed and texted if I didn’t sign up… the membership person didn’t even bother getting out of her seat, or to offer me to sit down when I went into the office— didn’t ask me anything about my fitness goals or what I was looking for in a club, didn’t offer me a tour, and seemed relatively annoyed when I had questions about classes🤷🏼‍♀️
If you want to take classes, the price of the membership more than doubled— for 2 classes a week! Or you can buy a $180 class card— but aren’t allowed to actually sign up for classes, so you may or may not be able to get into them even though you prepaid… classes notwithstanding, the free weights, which are also important to me, look very meager and delapidated, small selection/look like they are from the 80s, from what I could see, not being given a tour…
Tried to contact management about this experience, and to give the club an opportunity to show itself in a better light, but the staff was unaware of when the manager would be in, or available, and refused to provide me with any contact information— which seems very weird… apparently they don’t want to hear from anyone, or care and are satisfied to have this be the impression of their club— so I’m leaving this review to share my experience and save others the wasted time and frustration I’ve experienced. If you want decent free weights, or to be treated with a modicum of hospitality or respect, especially for what they charge, try another gym— and for the money, you can take Pilates at a real studio, it’s just less convenient than if they are offered by a gym that actually wants you to be a member 🤷🏼‍♀️

I like this place. it's clean, arranged and works 24 hours. But today I felt insulted، We're a family of four people, and we have a membership of three of us, my wife and my children over six month. They go to the gym a little bit, maybe 6 or 7 times a month My wife and our children go, and sometimes I go and our children, in general, three people, And sometimes my wife and I go without our children. And that was normal for over 6 months. Today, my wife and I went to the gym, a reception staff stopped me and asked me to pay $ 20 to come in or buy a fourth membership to me. I felt a big inconvenience and I didn't come in, why were you able to come in for over 6 months without that and today they ask me that if they asked me to do that from the beginning, that's I unacceptable and that I said respect , I advise the owner of the place to guide his employees to a professional way of dealing with visitors.

Something is Always Broken!!!! The Jacuzzi is always down, at some point it was closed for months. Sauna, steam room, and No hot water for showering, also staff never let's you know ahead off time. For the price you pay, it's ridiculous. The only thing it has going is it's open 24 hours.
Updated: The Big issue is Not how often things are broken. The issue is the bad customer service, how little communication there is between your managemant, front desk & members. A sincere apology instead of This promotional reply would of gone a long way in fixing this issue, instead of using my complaint as opportunity for a free commercial.

Gym has come a long way from when I first joined about 3-4 years ago. I used to think it was small gym but they have many amenities like sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, pool, adjacent full on spa and even a barbershop! Primarily I just use the gym but with that being said equipment is adequately replaced when they are out of commission, and I really appreciate that once in awhile new things are added, layouts change to enhance space, and they actually go through minor construction periods to improve the gyms appearance and quality e.g. resealing shower room floors, replacing fixtures, adding lights for a better relaxing ambience.

I’ve been to many gyms in Reno and this one takes the cake but most of all I love that my kiddos are safe, welcomed, and cared for at the kids club. They change diapers, actually have a handle on the kids in there, and even let you call ahead to avoid waiting or being turned away! (Yes I’ve had this happen at other gyms, ridiculous.)
