Fit Focus is a huge gym with multiple weight lifting and aerobic machine areas and duplicate equipment so that you can workout easily even when it is crowded. The front desk staff are friendly, the gym (including the locker room) is super clean, and the equipment is new. Also, I found a community of friends here and I really enjoy it.

I guess other people ruined the guest pass thing so you can no longer bring a guest with your membership. I can understand this, however this decision was clearly made without much consideration for the other members who respect the gym. Removing perks and costs just keep going up. They had a 2 tier membership previously (cheaper or more expensive) but now its just the one expensive tier without the expensive tier perks.

I've asked to talk to management/ownership a couple times about concerns and wanting to take my business elsewhere, but doesnt seem like they care. Oh well. This gym membership is worth half what you pay tbh. Ownership needs to open eyes, its not hard. Its a gym, literally working equipment, cleaner and paper towels, thats all I need. Offer a membership at $20 with no guest pass, raise guest pass price membership.

Honestly the only thing it has going for it is that its physically a big space. Interior is falling apart, roof drips into containers, lots of the equipment is broken for long periods of time. Employees don't seem to care at all about much of anything. Bathrooms redone just still gross all the time and broken. Soap/towels always missing. They raised/changed prices and structure as well. I think the owner needs to take a step back and think about if the price is worth what we are getting back. Its also concerning as I've heard the ownership is looking to buy more of the downtown buildings. Please don't turn this into more of a dump. Consider fixing things. I'm just going to get a membership elsewhere.

WARNING! THEY WONT LET YOU QUIT/CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP. These guys are thieves. I tried to cancel my membership in person and by phone and they told me I had to fill out their cancelation form and snail mail it in. I did that and they still didnt cancel my membership. They claim they tried to get in touch with me but thats a lie. I left the state of NH in 2022 and they are only now trying to resolve this issue and responding to my grievance 3 years later. I had to cancel my debit card to get them to stop charging me and then they put a debt on my credit report and I had to pay their law firm to get it off my report. So ridiculous. I will never work out with this gym even if I return to the area. Straight up criminal. Terrible gym. Predatory business practices.

This gym has changed my life! I was a member since they opened back in 2017 and started working here 5 years ago in 2020 so I’m a bit bias but this is genuinely one of my favorite places on earth.

I had gone to a couple gyms before Fit Focus but was immediately blown away at how big the facility was and how much equipment is offered. Above all else, the gym community is something you don't find anywhere else. I was immediately introduced to dozens of people eager to help me learn and take me under their wing to become a better athlete. Ive met some of my best friends here. Everyone from athletes, beginners, men, woman, families and couples come in. Some everyday, some once a week, some only seasonally. But seeing everyone come in determined and leave (albeit a little out of breath) but smiling is why I come back everyday.

Watching people sign up, meet new friends and workout partners, and start building or growing their passion for health and fitness is honestly one of my favorite things.

It's a small family owned business and not a week goes by that I don't hear from the owners about how things are going and ways we can improve the gym for our members. They are eager to help the club grow and improve and have supported me through college and into my adult life.

I genuinely love this gym and if given the chance I know y'all will too! Come down and say hi and I'll show you around!

How did a gym membership hit my credit score? I don’t have an account with this gym. When I did, I didn’t have an outstanding balance. Yet my credit score has still dropped. GYM IS A NIGHTMARE. I have more own gym but I signed up just to use the sauna and specific machines/weights I don’t have.

first issue: My first day of using the gym no one told me upon signup that the sauna wasn’t functional and they had no date on when it would get fixed. I guess that’s on me for not checking the sauna before signing up. No biggie. This was a half year ago. Could be functional now.

The second issue: I usually only have time to go at night. The gym was SWAMPED. Again no biggie but the people that swamped it were all high school kids using it as a hang out spot. Just crowding the machines and fooling around.

The biggest and third issue:
The gym is situated in Laconia. With Laconia comes homelessness and drug use. Every time I went there were homeless out in front, the parking garage, and parking garage stairway. I even saw a couple shooting up in the stairway. Not the gyms fault by any means but still….

I’m not from Laconia so this is shocking to me! If you are from Laconia this is probably like any other day of the week. For me that’s a HUGE PROBLEM. I ended my membership after a few days.

I recommend anyone to signup for Gilford Hills. None of the issues described above. Little but outdated but still a wonderful place to workout!

NEVER GO HERE IF YOU ARE UNDER 18: This gym is such a disappointment. If you are under 18 and buy a pass, you aren’t allowed to bring a guest no matter their age. I have been going here for 6 months and today the only guy who works there approached me with attitude and told me I can’t workout with my sister who I brought as a guest and I have been bringing her for the last 6 months. I talked to every other person I knew who went to Fit Focus and they said it was crazy that he said that and they always bring a friend and he never says anything. He also cancelled my membership and said I didn’t have to do the 30-day cancellation that he would cancel it right away so I was done (he said this very unprofessionally and with attitude like he was trying to get rid of me). I have never been rude or even spoken a word to him. Seems like someone was having a cranky day and felt the need to cancel a 16 year old girls membership. This gym absolutely disgusts me and the manger who is the only guy there is a rude person. Definitely don’t recommend spending $30 a MONTH just to workout by myself.

I have been coming to this gym as a guest for many months, when all of the sudden the (I believe new) manager has decided that I am no longer allowed to be a guest at this gym because I am under 18, even though I have come in multiple times a week for 6 months and have caused no disruption. So I was going to have my parent come in to sign the paper, but now I am not allowed to be a guest at all because the person who I was coming with is also under 18, even though she pays $60 for a membership to be able to bring guests. These new rules are unnecessary and are causing the revoking of memberships, as well as the negative and rude attitude of this manager.

This used to be my favorite gym back in 2018, i was here 5 days a week consistently for about a year and subsequently moved away for work. After coming back in late 2023 to see family i decided to pop in for a day pass only to find that absolutely nothing changed for the worse; and only got better with time.

5 years has gone by and theres new equipment that only adds to their already impressive selection of equipment that has been meticulously maintained.

The staff are still just as friendly and welcoming.

If only gyms around the country would live up to the very high standard that fit focus in laconia provides. Its a damn shame i can only stick around for a day.

The other gyms in the area are a complete waste of time. This place is the place that will be the best bang for your buck.

Also the sauna is hot, the tanning lights are always in good condition, and the lighting is prime.

Equipment is decent, but many repairs need to be made. There’s a sauna, not really hot but works. Seems like the staff have taken more care to keep everything clean. Not the cleanest gym I’ve been in but not the worst.

The showers need work, some parts are just disconnected and broken and stalls are stained. Would benefit to go to tile showers vs plastic.

This gym would benefit from a dedicated deadlift barbell with more aggressive knurling.

Dumbbells go up to 100lbs and are in good condition minus weight numbering worn off a handful.

The benches are pretty beat up in the free weight section and a little wobbly with cracked seats.

The squat racks are nice with both classic and caged styles.

The grips on most of the pull up bars are taped and falling off, kinda annoying. Same with a lot of the rubber on the cable accessories. Cable machines could definitely use some silicone lubricant.

Childcare seems fine and the play accommodations are good.

The personal trainer seems on the money.
The staff is overall friendly with the exception of an extremely disappointing approach to communicating a request.

Had a desk staff member inform me that children are not allowed in the locker rooms. I greeted the same employee on the way in yet he decided to wait until after I picked up my child and began to head down to the locker room.

I was drenched in sweat and confused as the same employee, manager, and other staff have never mentioned this before. I acknowledged the worker and requested to use the facilities and I will plan accordingly from now on. He denied that so I had to take my son to the only bathroom not in the locker rooms(or closed childcare center).

As I was washing my hands I realized I almost forgot my work gear, jacket, and clean clothes in the locker. I went down to gather my belongings and switch shoes to dry not soaked in sweat shoes. I was going to rinse my feet with a rag I carry when the same employee came into the locker room to tell me to leave. I began to become indignant after he threatened to cancel my membership.

I explained to him I needed to get my stuff and wanted to wash my feet & get dry socks on.

Whatever. I gathered my stuff and went upstairs. I asked to see the policy that he mentioned and he could not produce it. Then said it’s more of an insurance liability than a written policy.

I told him it wasn’t cool to tell me after my workout when he could have just given me a heads up on the way in. I asked why suddenly it’s a problem now and not all the other times. He said, “we’ve been discussing it and decided it’s an insurance liability.” I told him it was not discussed with me and short sighted to throw it at me now, at the most inconvenient time. He really didn’t care and was smirking at me, again not cool.

I told Koby if there was this rule it should be posted on the locker rooms or by the childcare. Granted I was frustrated with how this was handled, but after him already threatening to cancel my contract why hide that I was upset.

I asked for the manager’s name, Andrew, & he took a phone call. Still throwing out his smug smirk & indifferent expression.

All I wanted to do was clean up & get us home. There was so many other ways to approach this, like hey so you know from now on please be sure to shower before daycare time is over. Thanks for understanding have a nice night. They could have emailed or texted this policy. They could have provided a compromise & just let me put dry socks on. It sounds silly, but come on man.

Just unreasonable to threaten membership revocation over this and telling to me to leave or he’ll call the police. I’ll reach out to management to see if this can be amicably rectified.

*UPDATE * spoke with Andrew and the communication issue has been addressed so I have no problems. Andrew is pleasant and approachable. Appreciate him looking out for the big picture.

I joined this gym on July 13th, 2023. On July 17th, they charged me $30 for the entire month of July. On July 31st, they charged me $30 for the month of August. On August 29th, they charged me $30 for the month of September. Additionally, they charged me a hidden $60 annual fee on August 14th.

The issue is that I used the gym for less than 45 days (July 13th - August 23rd) before cancelling my subscription due to the unsafe condition of the equipment. They refused to refund the $60 annual fee, and they refused to refund the charge for the month of September despite having traveled across the state by bus to inform them I had not used the gym in weeks and had already cancelled.

I should've known that their refusal to do telephonic/online cancellation was a massive red flag, but I'd like to you avoid making the same mistake. NEVER let these people charge you money.

Love the gym here, would give it 5 stars except that they don’t allow you to cancel your membership. It is nearly impossible to end a membership here and it is purposely done that way. Since I’ve reached out 2 different ways directly to the gym staff with no response I thought I’d warn those looking for a new gym. I used to think this place was great, but it just turns out it was new at the time. It’s gone steeply downhill within the last year IMO. Numerous machines broken with signs, as well as others broken without signs…for weeks or months on end.

On top of that the cleanliness is lacking and they’re locking the only real open space up when the staff leaves at 6pm every day. (For abs and walking movements that take up a lot of room)

If there was a better option around I’d leave tomorrow.

It is extremely difficult to cancel the membership once you're signed up. You must walk in, sign paperwork, and MAIL said paperwork to their collection agency YOURSELF. Until that collection agency has processed your paperwork and sent it back to Fit Focus, they will continue to charge you.

It started out OK but within a few months of joining I was concerned that I was going to get a staph infection just walking in the place. I worked out there for a while on their outdated and shabby equipment until I was hurt pretty badly on a malfunctioning tread-mill. Something breaking isn't a huge deal, the failure to respond to multiple messages or even put an "out of order" sign on it is.

I left written and voice messages for management and even left a message with the front desk clerk asking for a call back. No one ever called. When I went to cancel, I was handed this paper that I had to mail to Arkansas to cancel my membership.

Do yourself a favour and avoid this cess-pit of a gym.

Just wanted to share my most recent experience with Fit Focus.

For my birthday I had asked for a gift card to this gym to use toward personal training - I already had a membership and didn’t realize they don’t actually have gift cards. A family member misunderstood and, unbeknownst to them, signed me up for a duplicate membership. They paid $45.

When I went to settle this, I was told that they could cancel the second membership but I could not get the $45 back. It could not be credited to my account nor used toward a future training session. Colleen was curt and non negotiable in our conversation - basically “too bad that you just wasted $45 on nothing.” She couldn’t really give a reason as to why the money was gone. Very upsetting.

Otherwise, the gym is clean and has plenty of equipment. I mostly used the women’s room and it never felt too crowded. The front desk staff is hit or miss, but if you are expecting the level of enthusiasm they display in their Instagram stories, you will be sorely disappointed.

Absolutely love training at FitFocus! Clean facility, wide variety of strength training as well as cardio equipment and there is plenty of space and equipment to get your workouts in even when the gym is busy. The gym has a friendly, knowledgeable staff and while they do have areas in which they can improve club management always seems to be doing projects or adding equipment to improve the gym experience or building.

What’s most impressive to me is the gym culture they have been able to establish as individuals in various stages of their fitness journey from beginner through advanced seem to fit right in creating a positive and inspiring place train. Truly the best gym the Lakes Region has to offer!

I had a great experience at Fit Focus in downtown Laconia. Plenty of space, lots of equipment, and continuous cleaning by employees. Would absolutely recommend checking out if you are in the Lakes Region looking for a gym.

They continue to bill me after I asked them to cancel my membership months ago. I had to cancel my card get a new one and now they send me bills every month to my email. WATCH OUT. No contract but they continue to bill you as if you have a contract. Illegally billing.

The best gym I’ve ever been to. The classes are great. The gym’s huge and there’s plenty of equipment. The personal trainers/staff are all nice. The girls locker room and restrooms are great. I love that the showers include soap/shampoo in case you forgot yours. I love working out there. It’s my home gym. Yeahuh

I made the switch to FitFocus three years ago. It was the best decision I’ve made for my physical and mental health. The equipment is top notch, and the staff are too particularly Tim and Cyndal as they are always more than happy to help anyone and are very personable. Overall, FitFocus Laconia is definitely a 5 star gym.

Not a bad place. It's a bit daunting going from a small, weight lifting gym to a big chain gym where machines are thrown around everywhere. There are signs that resemble the mentality of Planet Fitness but at least there's no lunk alarm. All in all a decent gym.

By Gary: Excellent gym with lots of terrific equipment that's well-maintained. Ample space. Importantly, the owners/mangers are exceptionally responsive and pleasant. They appear genuinely interested in their patrons' experiences at the gym and seem to be constantly looking for ways to improve the gym-going experience. I have direct experience with them purchasing equipment I've suggested, and they acted on my suggestion to reposition a stretching table. I very much appreciate the welcoming approach these folks take to running their gym.

I enjoy the facilities here much more than my previous planet fitness membership. I enjoy classes with Emily and Colleen who provide a challenging but engaging class and allow for injury modifications.

I would really enjoy if the Laconia location with install a juice bar... please.. also please give Emily her own PM spin class. GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT!

I am not new to the workout scene, but I have jumped from gym to gym, never feeling comfortable and stopped after only a few weeks of going. I had heard good things about Fit Focus and decided to look in to it more. That’s when I met trainer Colleen. She saw my uneasiness and made me feel welcomed. That’s the first time I’ve ever felt that walking into a gym. She spent time answering all my questions, letting me know what the gym has to offer and really made me feel like I belonged. She was kind, caring and full of knowledge. She is a great asset to their facility. The gym itself is so up to date, user friendly and CLEAN! Big must in my book. So Fit Focus, you have a great facility and a even better employee in trainer Colleen! Thank you for making me feel so at home!

I have been going here since July and I have loved it since day one. I usually bring my two kids with me and the daycare is phenomenal, I have seen it get better since the summer with the addition of a second employee watching the children and my kids are always excited to go. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and make the experience that much more enjoyable. Unlike some gyms I have never seen anyone there trying to intimidate any of the other members, most are just in their zone working out and others are glad to help out with a spot or a question about an excercise.
I could not be happier with this gym and it's the best I have ever been to.

A very good gym with great trainers.

I chose to sign up for 6 months of fitness training with fit focus to help keep me accountable and create a healthier lifestyle. My trainer was Cassie and she was excellent! Cassie is very knowledgeable with all aspects of her training. She taught me correct form, time over tension, and just how to get the most out of my workout. The thing I liked the most about training with Cassie is the level of confidence I gained. During our sessions I didn't feel self-conscious or intimidated, It was just us and I was having fun and getting in shape at the same time. After the 6 months of training I definitely noticed an increase in muscle mass, I had more energy and I had a lot more knowledge on how to make the gym work for me!
The gym overall is very nice and clean! There is plenty of space and I'm never waiting for a machine. My son loves the daycare and the staff is always very friendly and professional.

The gym aspect is wonderful, but the childcare is extremely unsafe. I joined because of the childcare - and I will not go unless my husband is home to watch my son which is unfortunate- because I am paying for the highest membership and cannot even use it to its extent. More staff needs to be present in watching the amount of small children they have in there at a time.

Tried this gym out a few months back with a friend and I have to say it's a really good gym, excellent equipment, friendly staff, clean facilities, enough space to more than accommodate a large amount of people comfortably, they have stand up tanning, showers and sauna too.. There will be the occasional juiced douche covered in baby oil walking around with invisible watermelons.. But that's to be expected in any gym, and there is enough room to avoid these people.. Definitely recommend if you're in the lakes region to give this place a try, I'm sure you'll come back

I have lived all over the US, and this is one of my favorite gyms I've ever belonged to. I rate my facilities based on:
1. cleanliness in which Fit Focus NEVER fails me on, and even though it is the responsibility of each member to clean up after themselves I see staff cleaning the equipment regularly too.
2. Atmosphere let's be honest, their ability to cultivate a welcoming, safe atmosphere is Laconia alone is impressive lol.
3. Equipment offered and availability everything I could possibly need and then some is offered here with little to no wait, NO WAIT! I love what they've done with the place and they've got a member for life with me :)
