My 3 year old is in the preschool gymnastics class and it is a great program to get younger kids moving and also build the foundational gymnastics skills needed for the older classes. The preschool class also helps the kids get practice listening and taking turns. Ms. Lindsey is so great and patient with the younger kids, even while they are sometimes having trouble with these skills.

Our family absolutely loves the Plaistow YMCA! It’s become such a special part of our routine. I can drop my kids off at Kids Club (which they love), then head to the gym for a workout or one of the amazing included classes. Spin class with Maggie is my personal favorite she’s the best! The child care staff are so great with the kids, and I always feel at ease knowing they’re in good hands. My daughter recently started at Kelly Brook Camp and she’s having the time of her life. She never wants to leave! We’ve also been doing the parent and child gymnastics class with my youngest and it’s been such a fun bonding activity.Only suggestion is Plaistow Y NEEDS NEEDS NEEDS A POOL! That would make this already amazing place even better!

Really nice, except for the extremely loud radio in the locker room and gym space. Sometimes the gym space radio is off, and that's really nice; I can enjoy my headphones without the distraction of noise invasion. Sucks that this YMCA does the same practices as most retail gyms. Luckily, they are receptive to turning it off on request.

We absolutely love our local YMCA! It’s been such a positive experience for both my kids and me. My 6-year-old is obsessed with her gymnastics class, and my 2-year-old lights up every time we go to the toddler and parent class that is included in our family membership! Mrs. Lindsey is amazing with the little ones and truly makes it fun. The events the Y puts on throughout the year are always a hit, and open gym has become the talk of the house.. it’s a daily highlight for my kids! On a personal note, I’ve really appreciated the fitness classes. Spin class with Maggie is my favorite! Being able to work out while my kids are safe and having fun has been incredible for both my physical and mental health. I only wish I had joined sooner!

The staff is personable and very helpful. Yesterday was my first workout after 10 child bearing years, and Wendy was amazing. I went to the Fit For Life class and it was perfect for a beginner like me. She helped me increase the intensity of my personal workout, without disrupting the class at all and made it a whole lot of fun! Looking forward to my next class.
Also, being able to let my girls play at Kids Club so that I can focus on my workout was such a relief and helpful. They had fun with the other kids! My 2 year old daughter started gymnastics this week and she absolutely loved it!

I love this gym. Our only bones of contention are that the women’s sauna doesn’t heat up and the door hinge needs adjustment to stay shut. We’ve asked for this to be fixed several times but it continues to fall on deaf ears.

The staff is amazing, and my boys have so much fun here. They started in October 2023, and they have come so far in just a few short months. They always have fun things to do, and they have learned so much. And I love that they get to go outside daily if it's nice out. My shy 3-year-old has really come out of his shell since starting here and has made so many friends. We love sending our boys here and it's a relief knowing they are in such great hands!

I use to love the y, especially Plaistow but now that they only have 1 basketball court, it's been increasingly frustrating for me because the only reason I signed up was to play, now I find that any free time I have outside of work, that one court is always booked with leagues, practices etc... it's disappointing because it didn't have to be like that. Before atleast if there was a practice, people could go use the other court and play basketball.

The group classes are amazing! I’m a stay at home mom so it’s a nice break for me to get in my self care and catch up with other moms while my little one is getting to socialize with other kids. I also have my daughter in their gymnastics class and swimming class. Both of us love all the instructors!

The activity is fantastic! I truly appreciate the instructors; they are incredibly friendly and patient. The facility seems clean and safe, but there is one minor concern: the Gymnastics room feels a bit stuffy and could benefit from better air circulation.

I love how clean it is. I don’t like crowded gyms and this one is perfect in that sense. I also love the fact that I can bring my child to workout with me. I know a lot of people don’t like when children are around the workout areas, however, it is the responsibility of parents to make sure they are supervising their children. I always keep an eye on mine to avoid having any issues. Another things I love about this gym is that it has all the equipment I need for my workouts.

Great gym and equipment, however a bit too relaxed on their age policies in the workout areas. Multiple times I've come to lift weights in the recent months and there's been children aged 7-13 running around the weight area, yelling and messing with gym equipment. Not the biggest issue but definitely annoying and distracting when kids who aren't even supposed to be in this area are in your space mid set.

Plaistow Community YMCA. Here are two Reasons why im giving a bad rating and is because:

1- basketball court open for shooting around unfortunately basketball courts are more use for pickleballs, they use two basketballs courts for this, i reach out to the manager and what she told me that they don't have basketball courts open time wich is ridiculous so basically they allow people for pickleball and not for basketball thats insane what are these people thinking this is a nonsense they have 3 basketball courts wich doesn'tmake any sense that they don't have open time on the 3 courst this is not right.

2-they are quick to ask you for 5 star rating but not to do the right thing. Unfortunately this the only way Business get better when they're call out for wrong procedures.

My infant attends the daycare center and we both love the teachers there! When I drop her off every morning she is so excited to see her teachers and leaps from my hands to be with them. The rooms are very clean, always plenty of staff, the kiddos are always taken care of and happy. The teachers communicate constantly and are always updating me on her day and accomplishments. We love it here! πŸ˜€

Unless you'd like your child neglected, hungry, and physically injured - DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE.
The director of the early education program, and staff can say they care about the well-being of the children attending, however the actions show the complete opposite. I personally have dealt with it first hand not to mention countless other mother's that have warned me , and shared the same concerns.
This place is also known as the "cool place" for after-school programs, as the teenagers know, they won't be watched and can "hang out" with their boyfriend's/girlfriend's .
The director has been spoken to. On Several occasions. It's now being brought to the state. Where this nonsense can be taken care of once and for all.

This place has really gone downhill. Not sure what is wrong with the management here, but they don’t seem to care about seniors or being a part of the community. They don’t want to allow members from other Y’s play pickleball here, even though the other Y’s let their members use their facilities without a guest fee. Additionally, They don’t seem to have even a basic commitment to cleaning this place because the courts are filthy.

TERRIBLE birthday party experience. About a year ago, I had my son's party here and it went well. So I decided to host my daughter's party here this year. The prices have gone up considerably, so I figured I'd become a member so I could host 2 parties there this year at a reduced amount.

Apparently, the entire structure of the party has changed. I was only given 15 min to set up prior to guests arriving. This might have sufficed if there were tables set up, but only one of the two birthday workers showed up, and he was hustling to set up things. Members were still playing basketball at that time too... Kind of awkward to set up around them. I had to ask the employee to bring in tables so we could put out food and table cloths. Then, my husband and guests helped carry in chairs, while I was still trying to set up. Really embarrassing that we clearly weren't ready when people showed up.

The party started 15 minutes late since it took the one worker double the time to get ready. Meanwhile, kids were just kinda running amok. One worker for 20 kids was definitely not enough since half the kids were entertaining themselves on one side of the gym while the YMCA employee ran a game on the other side. Then, when he needed a 10 min long restroom break, there was no YMCA employee there. Luckily, the parents and grandparents had taken to entertaining the kids at that point.

When I called to complain and request a partial refund, at the very least the cost of the employee and that they didn't have to pay. They said they were very sorry about how poorly it went. That shouldn't have happened like that, but they couldn't refund us any money.

We had planned on hosting my son's party there too, but will DEFINITELY not do so now. And will be cancelling my membership ASAP. If you host a party here, you are flipping a coin... Maybe you'll get luck like we did in the past, but if not, they really don't care to make it right

The courts are disgustingly dirty. There’s straight up chunks of dust on the corners. The court looks like it hasn’t been waxed in 10+ years and ruins your basketball shoes. Plus there’s usually only 1 court available so that’s great too!

I love it here! The staff is so kind, all the courts are clean and full size. Every afternoon there are at least 2 courts open to use with sand volleyball courts in the back. Overall this is a super fun place to hang out after school, play some games and just have a really good time.

Please clean your basketball courts. At least one court for people playing basketball and basketball only instead of playing floor hockey on every single court, pickle ball and other activities, maybe wax them every once in a while. They are terrible you mess up my basketball shoes and other people's also just by playing on them, ruining the traction on shoes and it's so dusty. You guys put no effort into cleaning the courts and it's not good. Everything needs work. You also need working rebounders that pass back after every shot that's been shot. That would be nice, and CLEAN COURTS.
