The classes and incredibly kind leadership are above and beyond anywhere I've ever been. There's incredible expertise in both Kettlebell and Boxing classes and all teachers have amazing personalities. I also met people immediately that had been doing these classes for over 16yrs! Quite impressive. Ownership is also top notch and deeply involved in everything. True mastery. Refreshing to see!

Seacoast Kettlebell is an amazing place to get into great shape and have fun while doing it! All of the coaches and members have been so helpful and supportive from day one. I love weight lifting but it can be tricky for me- I've done brazilian jiu jitsu for many years so I've accumulated some injuries. The coaches take the time to check in with me during certain exercises and help me modify when necessary. This can be hard to find during group classes. Heavy emphasis is placed on lIfting with good form and coaches are willing to work on this with people of all fitness/experience levels. If you're thinking about checking out SKB-give it a try. You won't be disappointed!!

I've been working out here for 3 years. All the coaches at SKB are incredible, especially Lisa! Colin hires the best; they are energetic, kind, and uplifting. It's a great environment to meet new people as the members are very welcoming to first-timers. The class format is perfect for anyone new to strength training because you get feedback on proper form to avoid injury. I highly recommend SKB!

I canβt say enough good things about this gym, the coaches and the people. Itβs such a positive and welcoming environment. The coaches are friendly and want you to succeed, pushing you when you want to be pushed. The workouts never get boring or stale and they even offer boxing once a week! Highly recommend this gym!

The one gym I've been too that managed to keep me coming back. I am a big fan of structured strength training, as I just don't do it on my own. There's still cardio most days too, which I quite like as well. Good music most days, very friendly owners and coaches, the only thing not to like is the price. For me personally however, it's worth it because I actually go to the gym.
They also have an evening class which is usually the only one I can attend, so I appreciate that. They also have boxing here now, though I haven't attending I have seen it done and everyone seems to enjoy it.
I'd definitely recommend SKB to anyone.

I really love SKB! I had fun every class which kept me coming back. Thereβs a real diversity of fitness levels, ages, etc in the gym which I liked a lot. Theyβve been very flexible with memberships in 2020; while Iβm paused for now, I canβt wait to come back once I am working in person in Dover again.

I feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of the Seacoast Kettlebell community. I used to be a member here about 6 years ago and then left for a few years after having children. I knew in my heart that I needed To rejoin and make this my life long gym. The trainers help you right along the way, and the people there are awesome. You can start at your own pace, and as you get stronger, you can push harder. I have actually started to enjoy working out. Words I never thought Would come out of my mouth. My body is changing for the better and I feel so amazing.-Jess Folger

Friendly staff and good equipment, but not worth the price.
To elaborate, this gym is basically Crossfit without the official branding, and with more kettlebells. The basic membership, at $100/month, gets you access to the hourly group fitness classes. The coaches are knowledgeable and helpful, but there's little individual focus. Don't expect to be able to customize your fitness routine; you're pretty much locked in to whatever the classes are doing in a given week. That said, if you'd rather do your own thing instead of the class, you are technically allowed to use the facility on your own while the classes are going on. I found this helpful when I wanted to bring my boxing gloves and work the punching bags.
HOWEVER - and this is my biggest gripe with the place - if the class is using a particular section of the gym, *you can't use that section on your own*. For example, on more than one occasion, I walked in hoping to use the rack area for bench press and overhead press - but the class was using the racks for some sort of weighted dips and resistance band training instead. Thus, all the racks were taken for the entire day, so I just couldn't do bench press.
The classes themselves are also more geared towards cardio than anything. Though there are a good amount of weight lifting exercises, they happen in such a rapid-fire fashion that it's basically cardio disguised as weight training. Not bad if cardio is your main thing, but not great if you're trying to bulk up and put on raw muscle through low reps and high weight amounts. The routines here necessitate lifting lower than your maximum, otherwise you'll be gassed after 10 minutes.
So to recap, for $100 a month, you get the privilege of attending large group fitness classes and the limited ability to use equipment individually, provided it's not taken by the class. If you decide to shell out $149/month, you get access to the "small group" classes which are limited in size to allow for more face time with the coaches.
To put those numbers in context real quick: the basic membership here costs 1000% more than a basic Planet Fitness membership, 500% more than a Planet Fitness Black Card, and roughly 200% more than a YMCA membership. Both the YMCA and PF offer group fitness classes for those who want them, with the bonus of also being normal gyms where you can do your own workout if you want to. Even Iron Empire, another "premium" gym in Dover, is more affordable than this, is open 24/7, and allows for more individualized focus.
To wrap this up, I will say that I shouldn't rag on this place too hard. Again, the staff is very nice, as are the members. Some people prefer the group fitness approach because they don't like planning their own workouts, and that's fair - but again, lots of other facilities have group classes too, without sacrificing the ability for members to just show up and bench press on any given day. I can't justify shelling out $1200/year on a gym that prevents me, intentionally or not, from doing my own routine every now and then.

I can't say enough about Seacoast Kettlebell. So far I absolutely love it here!!! It is VERY difficult but leaves me feeling incredible.
I have had stomach issues my entire life and last year things got really bad. I could barely eat anything and I was in constant pain. In the past year I have lost about 65 lbs on my own with a 100% diet change and I feel so much better. I am doing my best to learn to value my body more and take care of myself. I feel like I have made real progress and I want to continue.
That is what brought me to Seacoast Kettlebell. I am so glad I made it to my Intro with Sarah. I instantly felt like I belonged. I haven't worried once about anyone judging me or shutting me out because I am not in great shape. The person lifting hundreds of lbs is just as motivating and supportive as the person lifting ten. It almost feels like a family where everyone looks out for everyone else.
The coaches are so knowledgeable and they teach you correct form and how NOT to hurt yourself. They make sure that no one gets lost and they will walk you through the exercises 100 times if you need it! They are so incredibly motivating and they really do make you believe in yourself.
I can't wait to see what comes next for me or how my body will change during my time at SKB.

The staff is Great! Every time I attend a class I feel that everyone is working toward the same goal. I always feel welcome and supported by the members and the staff. This past weekend I ran my first 10K ever. Without the Seacoast Kettlebell workouts I would never have been able to run 6.2 miles. Thanks everyone at SKB!!!!!

I joined SKB right before Thanksgiving 2014 (crazy, I know), but I was sick of being lazy, I was tired all the time, I ate poorly and was getting pudgy. I made the decision to join and take part in a six-week challenge - best decision I made FOR ME! I have joined many gyms in the past and have never been as committed as I am to SKB. Why? Because I am seeing results - all the time, because the coaches truly care and push you, because it's more of a community than a gym. I wouldn't dream of waking up at 5:30am almost every day if it weren't awesome....believe me. I like to sleep. Working closely with SKB's nutritionist is also a huge plus and has taught me healthier eating habits for my entire family.
If you are looking for a gym where you will feel like you truly belong to and will get real results, definitely check out Seacoast Kettlebell. I am so glad I did and wish I found them sooner.

I joined SKB about a month ago as I am determined to lose weight and get healthy. I was looking for a gym and a way to train that could take away all my gymphobias (you know them: everybody in the gym already has a perfect body; spandex looks REALLY bad on me; Sweating is gross; I canβt run; all the dudes are jacked and um, is that even a dude?) and give me a healthy and positive determination to achieve my goals.
SKB is NONE of those above excuses I had used to stay away from the gym. The coaches are hard working and motivational. They have a way of making you want to burn out another set or try a heavier bell while making you feel like it was your idea. They never doubt your ability to better yourself. They make you want to show up, on time, and work out.
From Sara, who gave me the tour and my initial strength and flex test, to Kim, Rachel, Luke, and intern Steph (who I see at small group and Foundations), these coaches are phenomenal people. They care about the gym and the health of their clients. They have all redefined what a gym is for me!
I can even give you some proof about the results that SKB can get you: 2 months before I finally met with Sara I had blood work done. My triglyceride level was 780 and my doctor wanted me on cholesterol medicine. I was disgusted, embarrassed and angry at myself, and I refused the medicine. I believed that if I did that to my body then I owed it to my body and future health to reverse it. The prospect of hard work and sweat should not prevent anyone from being healthy. I met with Sara and started the 8 week challenge. I met with Jenn (the nutritionist) and with her help I eat at the proper times to stabilize blood sugar and I eat more protein. I just had my blood redrawn last week, after only ONE MONTH at SKBβ¦.my blood sugar is NORMAL and my triglycerides were 201 (down from that 780...I know 210 is still high, but I am determined to bring it LOWER with the help from SKB)!!!!! OMGoshβ¦.how do you thank the team for those results? I just added years back ONTO my life. YEARS! You should not wait another day. Give Sara and SKB a call and a tryout. You will find your inner Beast!

I'm visiting from out of town and back home in California I'm a crossfitter. I have been attending this gym for 3 weeks (my stay here in New Hampshire) and have really enjoyed myself.
Apparently this place used to be a crossfit, but it didn't work well for them so they dropped the name. Many of their exercises are similar however and what I found cool is that they do a lot of kettlebell work (in the name right? lol).
I attended the large class and the more private smaller classes. Both are fine and incorporate weights with cardio. The exercises are varied and have left me sore, even considering I'm an avid crossfitter at home.
There are a few things I don't like but I think it's more of where I come from and how I like to exercise so nothing really bad on the gym. I enjoy more pushing during my workout, like "you can do more weight, just add a little" or "you got this don't drop that weight." I personally find that encouragement helpful (not to injury of course). There are a LOT of instructors here and one or two I have noticed are helpful that way but not the majority.
Although they don't claim to be a weight lifting gym, they do incorporate olympic weight lifting a little. My last and only real complaint I guess is that several of their instructors do not have a good knowledge base for weight lifting. It's not really their main thing nor is it heavily relied on in the workouts so not a giant deal. I'm not faulting them for this in my rating but I was really surprised that for example...depth in a squat was faulted by several instructors. Things like that make me put less weight on the bar during workouts here because I'm not confident personally to weight lift "alone" more or less.
So if one wants olympic weight lifting or an emphasis on it, go somewhere else. However, for free weights, kettlebells and body weight movements/exercises this place is awesome and I definitely recommend. I will be returning when I come back!

I have been a member at Seacoast Kettlebell for about 5 months now. Amazing is the only way to describe this gym. If you are looking for something to kick start your workout routine this is the place. The best part of Seacoast Kettlebell is that it covers everyone from first time fitness folks to the fitness rockstar that can bench press a car. No matter your level you are going to be welcomed, challenged, and leave with a bright red face and a huge smile from ear to ear. I have never found a gym that I actually look forward to going to - even at 6am! The staff is super supportive, genuine, and willing to kick your butt as far as you let them and beyond. They also offer great nutritional guidance with their Accountables program. I lost 10 lbs, 3% bodyfat and 4 inches off my waist during the 6 week program! I have never felt so strong and confident as I do now being a member of Seacoast Kettlebell!!

Seacoast Kettlebell...where do I start? SKB is awesome.
Here's me in a nutshell: 3 sport varsity athlete through high school, continued ice hockey through college and then coached for a couple of years, met my hubs, had two daughters and didn't workout for about 3 years. Not pretty.
Last February I started at another gym doing 6am classes. With 2 small children I needed a early morning workout so I could spend the rest of my day energized and strong. The tough part - feeling motivated enough to get up at 6 am, which I have never done my entire life! The first gym I tried was lackluster. After 4 weeks the teacher still didn't know my name and the workouts did not kick my butt. Then my chiropractor, In Motion Chiropractic in Dover, recommended SKB, and now 10 months later I am in the best shape of my life.
The first day I started SKB, I had the intro with Chris and was immediately impressed with his knowledge and enthusiasm. He was very thorough, being sure that I understood how and when to move for the best workout and to avoid injury. The very next day I started my first 6am class and I have never looked back. Each and every workout is different, each instructor is knowledgeable and supportive, and I feel challenged. The progress physically happened fairly quickly - but that is not surprising since I was terribly out of shape. After having two children I had told my husband that I didn't plan on ever wearing a two piece bathing suit again, and this past summer I not only got to wear a two piece, but for the first time I actually felt comfortable in it!
I really can't say enough about Colin and his crew there. He is so passionate about his job, and has a way of making you feel important and supported. He has done an excellent job training his staff and ensuring that every workout is worth getting out of a warm bed at 5:30 am!

Seacoast Kettlebell is a gym that is in a league of it's own. I started working out here after a couple months at another local gym. The thing I loved the most in my first week was every single instructor knew my name. I have been at SKB for 9 months, lost over 10 pounds, cut 10 minutes off my 5k time, and am stronger than I ever thought imaginable. The workouts vary, the people are amazingly supportive, and SKB is always adding new services. Accountables helped me balance my diet and nutrition with my workout outs to maximize success and reach my goals. I would recommend this gym to anyone looking for a community to support them in achieving their fitness and lifestyle goals!

I've had memberships at the Works and Planet Fitness, and those places are great in their own ways, but Seacoast Kettlebell is something special. They have the best instructors I've ever worked with. There is a really great atmosphere there. People are friendly and supportive, and there's a contagious energy from all the people who go there to work hard at being healthy, yet there's no pressure around that. The instructors are so good about helping you learn how to do things, and they balance pushing you to get a little more work in while always making sure that you're okay and you're not putting yourself at risk. There is a range of participants at Seacoast Kettlebell. Some folks are out of shape and trying to get themselves going again, while others are in amazing physical condition. Everybody is encouraged to adjust the workout to what's best for them.
Be prepared: Crossfit is a serious workout. It kicks my butt every single class. But with so many good people around me there, I want to keep coming back and do better each time.
