Wonderful climbing gym! Matt did a great job teaching the top rope class, being both very knowledgeable and personable. The walls have all kinds of fun challenges and there are several auto-belay routes. Overall one of the best climbing gyms in New Hampshire!

I’ve been to many gyms over the years on both west and east coasts and I think this gym is superb! The routes are great, the setters do a great job setting up routes that are both interesting and challenging!

The culture and atmosphere is completely positive and friendly. Also, everyone seems to feel welcomed there, regardless of age or ability. Let this be emblematic of the inclusive and healthy environment of the upper valley. Congratulations to the owners for creating this. The staff is engaging and eager to help teach you and watch you thrive and learn. I would give six stars if it were an option!!

This is an incredible gym! The facility is top Notch (hehe), the staff is super helpful and friendly, the climbing is super fun!

In response to one of the reviews here, I’d just like to share my experience as a short person myself. I’m 5’3”, climbed for a few years but just came back from several years break from climbing - so that goes to say, I am a rusty climber now. I have found no issues with the route setting! On the contrary, I have found the climbs super fun, and haven’t yet had a climb where the holds were out of reach at this gym (ranging from 5.7-5.10s).

Signed up my 4 year old for Little Rockers, he loved it! Stayed for more climbing afterwards and didn't want to leave!

The Notch is an amazing place for families who want to climb together. At our old gym, kids climbing were the exception. At the Notch, they're expected.

Not only are there classes for kids, there's also a very welcoming atmosphere for climbers of all ages and levels. That starts with a great staff, and is made possible by a community that supports and encourages young climbers.

The Notch is a beautiful and much needed addition to the Upper Valley, and I'm super glad it exists, though it needs a little work, especially with route setting.

I applaud the feel of the space, filled with natural light and gorgeous climbing surfaces, though I'm a bit let down that the bathrooms (which are very nice) and cubby areas (not very nice) are super far away from the rope climbing area, which is what I come for (there's a traffic jam that happens at the cubbies near the stairs - hopefully this can be addressed, because it makes the long journey to the bathroom all the more fraught).

The staff is impressively pleasant, especially considering the long hours they're putting in right now and how busy the day was. We visited on a Saturday, at the height of busy, but the space never felt overwhelmed, and there were always routes within our grade we could get on.

But my big critique of the routes right now is that they are set for tall people. Nearly every route I climbed, from 7 to 10+, involved huge reaches, sometimes downright impossible for someone of my 5'2 stature. I'm used to having to be creative, but the little intermediary foot chips just aren't there, and the corner climbs (my strength) are set so wide that I'd have to do a split to reach my feet to the holds on opposite walls, meaning there is no solution other than levitation. My day turned out to be more frustration than not because only a couple of the routes had good flow for my height (which meant I didn't get to lead up anything, realizing I'd too often be in a pickle). Other routes achieved their grade by being sustained and awkward, which means there's very little joy to be had in them. I respect that route setting is difficult and is part of growing pains of a new facility, but if this tallness and awkwardness trend continues, I don't see coming back here often, even though the atmosphere of the place is quite nice.

How lucky are we to have such a STUNNING new gym in the area. I brought my son to climb (6) and he had an absolute blast. We weren’t even out of the parking lot and he was asking to come back the next day. In the 2 ish hours that we were there my son faced his fears and pushed himself past his comfort levels (heights). We love confidence building and problem solving activities for young brains. Definitely adding the Notch to our family time, next time mom and dad will climb too. Everyone was so chill and welcoming. Thank you for bringing this to us!

Cool gym, all of the staff are very kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and have safety in mind. The routes are interesting and fun with grades that accurately reflect the difficulty of the climb... definitely can't say that about just any old climbing gym! Besides ~50 rope routes and a similar number of bouldering routes, up some stairs there is a little open air loft sitting area big enough for 12ish people. Up a few more stairs from there is the yoga room, workout area (squat rack, dumbbell rack, rowing machine, stationary bike) and a kids area. Looking forward to watching this place bloom into a community ( :

A sweet climbing gym for climbers of all levels. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We were in and lead tested within 15 minutes and had a great time climbing ropes on nicely set climbs with ample draws which made for a fun, safe time! There is also a pretty big bouldering section, a giant kilter-board thing and a kids wall upstairs. There were plenty of easier routes and harder stuff for seasoned climbers, so if you have been wanting to try it out or wondering if it's worth the drive, I would say go for it!
