I grew up with my grandfather living on the tennis courts here and for years after Ray Lambert left, the tennis program was never the same. The new person they have now, Tim, is fantastic and I had such a wonderful time this summer playing social Doubles and meeting new people.

I have to say their pool policy regarding kids and floaties is frustrating and frankly, a bit backward.

They enforce a rule that parents must be within arm’s reach of their kids if they are wearing floatation devicesβ€”even if the kids are simply bobbing in shallow water with Coast Guard-approved floaties. This feels completely counterintuitive. The whole point of floaties is added safety. If anything, the rule should apply more strictly to children not wearing floatation devices. Isn’t that when they’re at greater risk?

It comes across as more of a liability move than a common-sense safety measure, and it ends up making what should be a relaxing swim stressful and unnecessarily restrictive for parents who are already supervising closely.

Also worth mentioning: the bathrooms and pool area are showing their age. The facilities feel worn down and could really use some updating. Peeling paint, dated tiles, and a general lack of modern cleanliness make it feel more like a 1990s rec center than a facility charging current membership rates.

The potential is there, and we’d love to see some investment go toward renovating the pool area and rethinking some of these rigid policiesβ€”especially those that don’t reflect real-world water safety logic.

It's definitely a gym with lots of options. We use the cardio room regularly. They have a good number of equipment and are pretty good about staying on top of down equipment and units. The only warning I will give is that if you're looking for resistance training or weight lifting, those areas are usually quite busy in the mornings so I can only image in the evening how packed they must be. It might be hard to get access to the equipment you're wanting to use. Other than that, the pools, the outdoor pool, the play zone etc. are all awesome. The staff that greet us in the morning are always super kind and helpful. Ms. Larua from the Playzone is so good with our son and he is always excited to come back.

the works is the best!!! first, you are welcomed by the amazing staff at the front desk, everyone is so friendly and helpful. all of the facilities are very well kept, with SO much to offer for the entire family.

and the playzone, i can’t say enough good things about! the staff is INCREDIBLE, they are so supportive for both child and parent. i can enjoy a workout and know my children are happy, well cared for and most importantly safe.

i will recommend the works to anyone and everyone, its a place that feels like home. a membership is the best investment!

Eclectic mix of weights seemingly chosen at random. The weight room is poorly organized and causes many movement issues. Frequently have to move equipment out of the way just to access weights and racks.

Pros - Lots of amenities and was able to get help of 2 good trainers during my time there.

Cons - Rigid draconian policies on cancelling memberships and many amenities too crowded to use. Namely the pool areas. Felt like a money grab. Can do without. Hope you treat they employees better, they have good people.

The adult swimming lessons are fantastic! Sarah is a compassionate and skilled instructor. She meets you where you are and tailors her approach to help you both meet your identified goals AND learn skills you may not know you needed. For me, that meant getting comfortable in the deep water AND building up my endurance. I will definitely sign up for a future class with her and recommend it for any adult who is either afraid or just wants to get better.

I love the facility, but have found it very frustrating to get a consistent schedule for lap swimming. The same people use the pool at the same time every day, with or without a reservation. As someone with limited time due to work, this makes it almost impossible to get a routine; the staff also need to make it clear if the reservation allows another person to reserve the same lane. I tried sharing a lane I had reserved with someone else who claimed to have reserved it, but the etiquette of the other swimmer made it difficult for a basic crawl.
I'm hoping once the outside pool opens it will be easier, but so far I'm very unhappy with my experiences here.

The workers and facilities are fantastic but it seems like no one tracks capacity/amount of issued memberships leading to classes always been full the day they open to register and the gym/pool facilities are always full to the brim. This was not an issue until recent months and it's only getting busier. I should be able to come to the gym without having to wait for 2 other people to complete any machine to get a chance.

I felt like I needed to update my review of the works. Yesterday while working out I injured my back. I hobbled up to the front desk and they stopped everything they were doing and they attended to me immediately. The staff sat me down on the couch and propped my leg up. From there they contacted an ambulance and made sure I was extremely comfortable. The entire time all they could do is ask what they could do for me. Members were walking in but they stopped to make sure I was okay. I woke up this morning to an email from Stephanie. She's the manager of the gym. I simply responded by thanking her and her staff. She went and posted my email so her staff could see it. I am so thankful that she did that because that staff needs to understand how amazing they are. From the people who take care of all the maintenance in the building, to the people that keep it fresh and clean to where there's zero disease or filth anywhere in that gym, to the front desk staff that always greets you with a smile. A front desk staff that knows their members by name. Keep in mind there is well over a thousand people in this gym. They find a way to know your name and they find a way to make your experience as personable as possible. When you have tour guides like Doug and the rest of his team guiding you through your journey, just know the fact that there is a world of opportunity lying in these doors. I am the prime example of putting in hard work. Since I've started the gym back in July, I have lost a total of 80 lb. Again, if you have the commitment to your body, the works will take care of everything else. I promise. I again I just want to thank the staff and Stephanie for just being there for me yesterday.

Sincerely, you're ever loving loud mouth cursing chef, your favorite stoner,

Chef Robert Poole

I’m nearly 3 months into my program at the Wellness Center and I’ve never been so happy. I, like many others, was terribly nervous to start a fitness & nutrition program but Brooke and Haley have made me feel comfortable and cared for every step of the way. When paying members are unable to access the classes or programs they desire due to their being full how should, will management react to correct this? Notably the deep water pool offerings are at issue. This is a serious enough issue for one not to extend, continue a membership. Thank you.

Expansive facility with updated equipment, classes, rocket ball, pickleball, basketball and outdoor pools. Staff is very supportive and helpful. Facility continues to see updates such as carpeting , paint, parking lot, repairs. The Works has the best staff and amenities of any gym I have ever seen. They cater to people of all ages, weights, abilities, and backgrounds. I have felt extremely welcome there. You won't be judged for being a beginner, but unlike at PF, there are many strength machines and weights to set PRs with. I personally love doing laps and treading water in their pristine pools. There aren't always lifeguards on duty so if you have kids, check before going. Everything is quite clean (showers get dirty at night but they are always cleaned) and the janitorial staff is just as friendly as the instructors and front desk attendants.
Price: it varies based on your age and what you are signing up for. The cheapest is under $40 and opting for the babysitting, personal training, small groups, kids, and guests are additional fees. Most group classes are included in the base price. You have to do the facility tour and apply before joining and it is an automatic subscription payment deal when you join. I've personally never had issues with it, but I have heard leaving can be tricky.

We just joined The Works after leaving a gym we loved because of the distance.
The staff is friendly and the facility is beautiful and clean.
A real standout for us has been the Small Group Training.
The instructors are certified and the classes are challenging, fun, and safe for all levels.
Caley and Darcy (the only two we've worked with so far) train with laser focus so each person performs with proper form and attention.
I took a few classes at a dedicated kickboxing gym decades ago, and Darcy's Heavy Hitters class is better than anything I've experienced in the past!

honestly its still a okay fitness center but they got rid of so much stuff like the hot tubs in the upstairs locker rooms, the steam room and or sauna are shut down for maintenance at least half the time and speaking of which, the mens room sauna is now going on its 5th month or so of being closed. its also now full of high school "gym bros" that lack proper gym/locker room etiquette. another downside is if you are over the age of 25 the gym membership fee is roughly $75 a month but after a few months or a year they'll slightly increase it. started out paying 35 a month now I pay closer to $45 a month. thats about 4 months worth of membership for planet fitness and if you want to cancel they dont make it easy

After trying for two weeks to schedule a child's party I finally got a call back. Apparently the scheduler had covid and the person covering doesn't schedule or know how to return calls. For $300. You get the use of the pool. Along with anyone who comes in to use the pool because that price gets no specials. You also get a room with a table cloth and balloons on the chairs. The main problem is that it is literally teenagers running the entire operation. I have never seen such disorganization and lack of effort. The life guards are also teens. One of them was actually paying attention, but the other two seemed to be sleeping with their eyes open. Fortunately parents can be in the pool to supervise (again teens with no interest as lifeguards) at an extra charge. Other parents have since told me this is how their experience was also. Save your money, or rent any place else. Honestly, the most overpriced, overrated venue for a child's party! Very disappointed!

They have a lot of great amenities. Low rating because they lock all of their good equiptment in a room that can only be accessed with a trainer. Don’t even have the same equiptment outside of the room. Simply can’t use it if you don’t want a trainer. You can ask to go in and borrow it but that is so annoying? The Wi-Fi doesn’t work throughout the building and you can’t get service everywhere either so if you’re thinking of doing an online workout here then think again

I’ve been a customer of the Works for years off and on. The only reason I’ve ever gone there is to use their pool and I’ve never had issues – I always made sure I went swimming during a not busy time so I can get a lane. The reservation system was fine as well – now the Works has been changing the rules and today I learned they are now requiring 2 people swim in the lanes and that you don’t have a choice anymore to have a lane to yourself. This makes me very angry – I pay $800/year to go to the Works to swim. I go to swim because it brings me comfort – it’s like therapy to me. I like to swim on my back sometimes and I can’t share a lane and swim on my back. Also, it gives me anxiety to share a lane because the lane is not big enough for two people to swim comfortably. Having two random people assigned to a lane will not work because some people swim fast laps, some swim slow laps, some swim back stroke, breast stroke which require more space and some bounce up and down and walk. Two random people getting matched up using the reservation system is unfair and won't work or else people will have to change the way they use the lanes. I believe a lot of people feel the same way as me because for years people took turns in the lanes because a lot of people prefer to have the lane to themselves. I spoke with the manager and told him this is like requiring two people to share a treadmill – he defended their new policy and said that this was always required and was the β€œetiquette” that we were always supposed to share the lanes. Well, a lot of your customers don’t want to share a lane because the lanes ARE too small for two people especially if they like swimming backstroke. Your customers should have a choice to say no to someone sharing a lane. It’s not their fault that you don’t have enough pools to meet the demand. I will never go back. Swimming to me was therapy and this isn’t worth it to me.

I wish so much that the weight lifting area was bigger and laid out in a manner that made using free weights on floor mats easier. Right now if I want to use a barbell and weight plates for hip thrusts or glute bridges I have to carry that barbell clear across the gym to the only room that contains a small floor mat and hope nobody's on it.
I recently moved to the state and quickly discovered that this is the only gym within a 50 mile radius that has semi-decent weight lifting equipment. I do like that they're still adding new equipment, so it gives me hope that they'll revamp that weightlifting area someday and maybe make it bigger? 🀞

I love the group classes indoor and outdoor pool. I just really wish they'll have an afternoon children care same time with their afternoon group classes so that me and my husband can fully avail the family membership we signed up for.

First I was told I could cancel anytime and not be charged...then tried to cancel before year was up and was told I would be charged for the entire year regardless....Then I was told more than once that I wouldn't be charged once my year membership was up when I called to make sure my membership would end after the year was up. Then got charged after the year was up, called AGAIN and was told that "there were no notes in the system saying I wanted to cancel my membership.". Then when I explained I asked more than once and was told the same info, was then told I was told the wrong info and nothing could be done and I would be charged the extra month and the membership would be cancelled. Now I get an email saying you are trying to charge me yet again yet my card won't work and I will get charged a fee. Thank God I got rid of that credit card or I feel like this place would chargee for the rest of my life! Poor customer service and really bad business ethics if this is how you do business.

Been a member for over 16 years, great place to join as part of your fitness regime. The staff is extremely helpful. State of the art equipment with added benefit of the lap pool. My only recommendation is to add to the yoga program.

This summer me and my friends got a membership to get more in shape, the gym is amazing it’s great , but we mainly came here for basketball and they let a summer camp rent it for 2-2.5 hours it isn’t fair to be completely honest because you can only reserve it for 30 minutes ,we all pay memberships and we can’t even use what we want to use the most but I do like the place

Decent facility but very expensive and very heavy on fees. Huge fee to start, annoying fee to pause membership, long notice required to cancel membership, annual price increases. Kids as young as 3 required to get memberships to use facility, including childcare, which as you might have guessed, requires an additional fee. We've had it and will be going elsewhere.

The works is a wonderful gym, but it's so much more than that! The pools, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and all the cardio equipment and weights too. They have tons of classes too, and they are all included in the membership.

Seems like a nice gym , but sign up costs of 150 to start is rediculous. Programs they offer are complicated in structure. Staff is okay, buy they could do much better with simpler terms. To be honest, your best bet is your local YMCA. The works has alot of potential with their marketing ,as of now it's way too convoluted.

They do a great job with their COVID stuff. Weight room still needs to be twice the size though.
