8 Venoms was the best introduction to Muay Thai (and martial arts) that I could ask for. The instructors and students were all incredibly welcoming to newcomers like myself and pushed me to learn at my own pace. I highly recommend 8 Venoms to anyone in the area looking to learn and grow not just as a fighter, but as a person.

This is a great gym. The coaches are excellent and the facilities are clean and in order. Equipment / gear are replaced regularly. I can only recommend this place, I've been coming here for around 9 months and its the best thing I've ever done. 1 hour class beats 2+ hours at the gym!

I can’t believe I never left my review of this gem of a place. Saying the community here is like a family is an understatement. The coaches and Kru are gems in and of themselves, the students are friendly and supportive of each other. The level and care that goes into the instructors’ teaching is unmatched. If you’re thinking about checking this place out, don’t think, 10/10 go for it!!!

8 Venoms should be a gym everyone visits at least once in their life. 2 years ago I had taken classes for 3-4 months. The skills taught to me by Kru Gian still have a profound impact in my life as I still carry them years later. The importance of self-defense could never be understated and there is no better teacher than Kru. I look forward to the day I can apply his teachings outside of the gym.

The best experience in the world! The owner has an incredible heart and is one of the best teachers I have ever had for anything. I went to this gym not knowing much, but even after the first class I started to learn so much, and now after just a month I feel like a new man. Not only are they some of the best trainers I have ever had, but the culture and the people and incredible. It really is a pleasure to get to go this gym, it really does feel like a small family community. Unfortunately I need to head back to Boston for college, but one of the biggest things I am looking forward to when I get back home, is coming back here! Thank you 8 Venoms for everything!

Went there to try out a beginner level course. Great environment, everyone there was very friendly helping out a newbie. Coach Kenny was great, very patient in helping me understand the forms/exercises. The owner/instructor Gian was very nice/informative at addressing some concerns I had starting out. Would rate it even higher if I could, definitely am going to join.

No need to look further if you're trying to learn/train Muay Thai. 8 Venoms is an amazing gym with a family like atmosphere. Kru G is masterful at breaking down every technique and ensuring you learn each technique the right way. He's also very thoughtful and personable. When I could only make 1 class a week due to other responsibilities, he made sure to spend extra time with me to ensure I am getting as much training as possible. He genuinely cares about the progress of all his students.

I decided I wanted to train a martial art, and muay thai looked like a fun option with 8 venoms in my town. I signed up for a trial class, and I quickly realized my hips & legs are less flexible than can possibly be imagined (thank you office life). A few weeks in, I can see small improvements in my flexibility and technique.
Both Krus/Instructors Gian & Joono are excellent at getting you better than you were than at the beginning of the class. A great martial artist doesn't make a great teacher, but here you have both. For such a competitive art & sport, the class atmosphere is so fun loving and respectful. Great environment and definitely recommend.

I have always aired on the side of caution when it comes to martial arts gyms, bad instructors, unstructured, etc. However, 8 Venoms completely blew my expectations out of the water. Kru Gian and Joon are phenomenal and highly knowledgeable instructors, both take the time to provide an almost personalized level of instruction that focuses on improving the small mistakes to bring your technique to the competition level if that is what you strive for. Whether the goal is to get in shape or improve on your martial arts, 8 Venoms is a great place with a welcoming environment and camaraderie amongst fellow students that can be a life changing experience. If you're on the fence, my advice is to take the leap, I took the free class and signed up for a year the same day. Improve your physique and your overall confidence with great instructors and fellow students to grow with and learn from along the way, you won't regret it.

I went to a couple other gyms before and my kicks were pretty bad. Then I took a trial class and my kicks got pretty good. Like a fundamentally different kick kind of good. Like a complete biomechanical understanding of the motion as well as its most effective applications during live sparring, explained in detail by Kru Gian himself kind of good.
Phenomenal teacher, not just with kicks but with every aspect of the sport; if Muay Thai gyms were med schools, 8 Venoms would be Johns Hopkins.

Great confidence builder for my son. Gian is super sweet patient and helpful. He got my son all set up and answered all our questions. There was a minor miscommunication and he apologized then gave us hand wraps on the house. Excellent customer service, I really like that they teach respect and discipline. They’re not learning to be bullies but just learning to defend themselves and get a great workout. My son can be very lazy but has not missed one class. It’s nice to get him off fortnite for a while. I signed him up for the year, it’s cheaper and you definitely get a bang for your buck. I’m so grateful. Thank you.

I absolutely love 8 Venoms Muay Thai in Teaneck. I’ve known Kru Gian for many years now and I couldn’t have been happier when I found out that he opened up his own gym. His classes are dynamic, focusing on different aspects of Muay Thai each day. For example, one day we’ll focus on boxing, another on kicks, knees and elbows, clinching, sparring, etc. The constant mix makes going to class each day exciting and allows you to have time to focus on each aspect of the sport. So important when building upon proper technique.

When looking for a place to train I wanted to be a part of a gym that had a good amount of experienced students, a place where I could get some good sparring in if I wanted to, and most importantly, a great instructor. 8 Venoms has all of that. Kru G breaks down the sport in a way that makes it easy to learn techniques the right way. From day one, you’ll be able to tell that Kru G has extreme passion for Muay Thai as he brings his all every day. He sincerely wants all of his students to get better and is always open to any questions during and after class. If you’re looking for private lessons, Kru G offers that too. His deep knowledge and wisdom of the sport makes training at 8 Venoms a great learning experience each day. If you have any doubts, go take a free trial class.

8 Venoms is a very welcoming gym and the price to train is great. Talk about a deal. To sum up, If you’re looking for a place to learn Muay Thai the right way, you gotta go check out 8 Venoms.

As of 9/24/2020:

COVID-19 Response: Temperature is checked upon entry and hands must be sanitized prior to entering the gym. Classes are limited to 4-16 students and clinch work is mostly avoided. Jump ropes, pads, and other equipment that are borrowed are sanitized after one use. Students are advised to enter through one doorway and exit through another. Mats are thoroughly cleaned at the end of classes.

Class Structure: There are currently two adult classes, 6:45 PM to 7:45 PM and 8 PM to 9 PM. When classes begin, students line up to pay respects to the Father of Muay Thai. Students start with cardio work followed by drills focusing on a particular technique/combo (separated into beginner and intermediate groups) indicated by the instructor prior to class on a member app. Monday through Thursday alternate from the 8 points of contacts – punches, elbows, knees and kicks – with Friday (7:45 PM to 8:45 PM) reserved as a hard training day to focus on intense cardio, advanced techniques, and/or sparring.

Students: Kru Gian emphasizes a culture of mutual respect and genuine care for students’ safety and personal growth. Students are disciplined in private if they falter due to lack of control, hygiene, or upholding the image that Kru Gian fostered over the years. There is a sense of unity within the students and alternating different drill partners presents no lack of the 8 Venoms culture.

Instructors: Kru Gian teaches the adult classes while Kru Joe teaches the junior classes. While I haven’t had the same opportunity to train under Kru Joe as much as Kru Gian, Kru Joe exhibits the same high-quality standard with decades of expertise between them combined. Kru Gian can frequently identify common mistakes in form and provide corrections that yield immediate results. He understands the development of each individual student and appropriately advances a student’s progression when fit.

Final Thoughts: Looking to start my journey in martial arts with no prior combat experience, I joined 8 Venoms based on my friend’s recommendation and seeing how highly it was regarded in reviews. After two months in, I can say that the gym went beyond my expectations. I could tell after my first trial class that everyone involved in the gym were courteous to beginners yet pushed you to your limits. Kru Gian always tries to make himself available through text to address any questions or concerns and clearly cares for each of his students. Aside from the martial arts, some of the greatest lessons I learned were personal regarding growing outside your comfort zone and helping your partner reach their fullest potential. You will get as much as you put into it whether you are interested in fitness or learning martial arts, so if you trust in the process, results will follow. I could not recommend this gym enough; it is one of the best decisions I made!

8 Venoms - Sound threatening? It should. Muay Thai is a sport that turns your limbs into weapons. But threatening is the last adjective I would use to describe the Kru's teaching methods. Muay Thai is such an incredible martial art/sport. It challenges you physically and mentally. It's IMO the best form of cardio and I've tried all sorts of workouts over the years (crossfit, powerlifting, swimming, HIIT, etc.)

I am a true beginner at Muay Thai and this gym really provides me a great environment to learn. Not only do the coaches care but all of the members also treat you like family. Not all gyms (Muay Thai and not) have this type of environment and for me to have found a place like this, I am grateful.

The lessons you learn come up again and again in future classes so you're consistently practicing. This location completes evaluations and have a ranking system, which honestly helps me understand my peers and work harder. Also, the gym participates in other non-gym activities such as beach days or 2 mile runs, and it's nice to see the members participate willingly.

If you are willing to put in some work and want a fitness family, come try out a free class!!

The energy at 8 Venoms is uplifting. The facility is clean on an immaculate level and the equipment is state of the art Muay Thai training equipment mirroring that of which you may find in any gym in Thailand, with a staff that shares 40+ years of experience I highly recommend this gym to any one who wants to lose weight and get into amazing shape while at the same time learning how to fight as the Thais do. Kru Gian and Kru Joe are very knowledgeable and professional and will not hold back on correcting technique and form along the way.

This is no ordinary academy, club, or gym.

The instructors are excellent--skilled, smart, funny, articulate, and caring. I am always impressed by their ability to explain the most complicated combinations of this discipline with such clarity...it almost sounds easy. Their positivity, support, and camaraderie nurtures an environment where the students are more like family than members practicing combat.

From my vantage point as a spectator parent, I have witnessed students of all ages stand taller, smile brighter, and be better through the rigorous training meted out by Gian, Joe, and the rest of the crew. No matter how hard the days, my son leaves in pain--certainly--but ALWAYS happy.

8 Venoms is the BEST and continues only to get better. I cannot recommend them high enough. If you are considering trying Muay Thai, absolutely--you should come to 8-Venoms.

I was apprehensive of starting something new because I have never have trained in any martial arts, but from Day 1 I was welcomed into the family, respected by peers and encouraged to work hard. Everyone at the gym wants to get better and is super nice and encouraging. The Kru's really pay attention and give individual attention to all, making sure you get better. 10/10 if you want to learn something new or just work hard.

I joined 8 Venoms about 3 or 4 months ago and got hooked from the first free lesson. Seriously, I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Kru Joe and Kru Gian have made this a great place to come train- everyone is super friendly and motivated, and the enthusiasm is infectious. What I like most is that there’s something for everyone here. Want to learn some self-defense? You got it. Want to reach your fitness goals? The Krus can reduce you to a sweaty puddle in 15 minutes. Want to train to actually fight? There’s a bunch of super motivated and talented people here that you can train with. 10/10 would recommend for anyone of any skill level/age who wants to improve his or her mental and physical fitness.

I have been with 8 Venoms maybe two or three months, however, it does not take an expert to realize how good the coaching is and how respectful everyone is to each other. One example of the events hosted by the gym was on labor day weekend. Many of us were invited to train at the beach and it was tough but fun at the same time. Whether it is just for exercise or to learn the techniques of Muay Thai, I highly recommend this gym!

Cannot recommend 8 Venoms Muay Thai highly enough. Kru Gian and Kru Joe know their striking explaining every step of why they use this strike, the movement, and the mechanics. They mix up the best of boxing, dutch kickboxing, and classic muay thai to give you the best of everything. They are both super knowledgeable and extremely funny as well. They also have the perfect balance of martial arts discipline and fun. They work you out, teach technique and always come around to make sure you are doing it correctly. There is also a great sense of community; even from my first trial class, other students were already ingratiating me, introducing themselves, and having conversations. Kru Gian also makes himself completely available answering as many questions as you have, even the billion I had for him. Having been to other striking/kickboxing/karate programs, 8 venoms is the best I have seen. I cannot speak highly enough. Highly highly recommend!

I went from western style boxing for 8 years, to proudly making the change towards a different style of martial arts. I did my research on Muay Thai before making my choice on whether to continue on with boxing or make a massive change to what I was acustomed to. During my free week, I was welcomed by a tough friendly humble team of men and women, they respected my style and gave me the proper tips to utilize my hand throwing skills into a proper traditional Muay Thai style, it’ll be a little tough getting used to, but I made the choice and I’m not backing down from it, especially with their sincere supporting. Crew Gian greeted me with much love and respect towards my boxing style, he motivates the team, including myself to push through the rigorous workouts we go through each day, along with his thoroughness upon teaching the techniques. I also had the pleasure of meeting Crew Joe who displays a stern yet comedic vibe to the class to keep it alive but working hard, his teachings on technique are tough with no sugarcoating if you don’t perform correctly which in my opinion is much needed when it comes to martial arts. Upon completeing my free week I can see Crew Gian & Crew Joes style of training is right up my ally, along with the other supporting advanced students that will help you polish whatever they see you may need help on, bottom line they treat you like family, doesn’t matter if you never threw a punch, or a kick or if you a different of previous martial arts experience, no one is left out. I’am proud to be apart of this family and I’m sticking with them till the end.

I’ve always loved martial arts, but I haven’t practiced in years. I wanted to get back into it, but I hadn’t for a long time because I’m naturally hesitant to work with groups of people I don’t know. I’ve been nervous about doing this for a long time, but after joining 8 venoms, I have to say that fear was totally unfounded.

The people here are super welcoming, and encourage you to push yourself. The instructors, their assistants, and more advanced members of the class help mentor you, and help you improve. I’ve only been here for a little while but, I enjoy coming, and think it’s a great place to train and learn.

8 Venoms is definitely one of the best martial arts gyms you could ever go to! It has a welcoming atmosphere that makes your experience worth while. The array of students is diverse and individuals of any age can sign up - They have children's classes and Adult classes!
The teachers at 8 Venom - Instructor Gian, Kru Joe, and Instructor Grace - help each and everyone of their students become stronger mentally and physically. They will never force you into doing something you are not ready or comfortable with, like sparring, but they will challenge you and push you closer to your goals. They have a passion for the art of Muay Thai and you can really see it in their personalities and their teachings. Not only are they passionate but they also have fun with it! I feel as though this is a crucial aspect to all instructors.
I am one of the younger students at the gym (17) and I never felt out of place here. Everyone works hard to better improve themselves and to help others reach their goals; no matter how much skill they have in Muay Thai. The more experienced students even go out of their way to help others train after class and answer any questions they may have. There are no "groups", everyone is like one big family and respect one another!
So wether you start with little to no experience, are looking to get back into martial arts, or are looking for a way to improve your fitness, This is definitely the place to go! So don't hesitate, schedule a free trial and join us!

Training at 8 Venoms is undoubtedly an all around amazing experience. From the instructors to the students, everyone at the gym is welcoming. There are no separate cliques, from the minute you walk in its all love and respect for one another. Personally, this was a huge thing for me and it makes training with and getting to know one another 300 times easier. Ontop of that, passion and dedication thrive here. Gian, Grace and Joe all have an intense passion for Muay Thai and the students all feed off of and reciprocate this same energy. Its intense all around, and its a beautiful thing. I've been training for 3 months so far and have made tremendous progress and I don't plan on stopping, because the benefits apply not only on the mat, but also in daily day to day life. So if you're considering joining I'd say don't wait, just take the dive.

Fighting is not just a test of physical strength, speed, or skill as much as it is a true test of your own mental strength. You will not find instructors that understand this and constantly push you to break your barriers like the ones at 8 venoms Muay Thai school.

You can tell right from the start that these teachers are truly passionate about their craft and they pass that on to their students, who put in every ounce of heart every time they step onto the mat. This is a team built on the strong foundation of respect for one another and a genuine desire to see each other learn, grow, and achieve the things they never thought they could. The collective energy while everyone is training together is unreal.

This practice is so much more than just a sport. Everything I learn on the mat I take with me and apply to everything I do. As a young individual trying to figure life out, this place has become more like home than home to me, and has allowed me to dive deeper into myself and move more bravely through the world before me. I honestly wish everyone knew about this place, because there is no where else like it. If you're still reading this, don't sleep on the opportunity to be a part of something so inexplicably amazing. Believe me, you will thank yourself for taking that uneasy leap of faith, and at 8 venoms it will only be the first of many!

As an out of shape former martial artist I wanted to get back into fighting condition and I decided to take a free trial class at 8 Venoms - seriously one of the better decisions I've ever made. You can tell a lot about the quality of a martial arts school from the demeanor of the practitioners and I immediately noticed that the students were friendly, focused and highly respectful to one another and to the art of Muay Thai. All of this of course stems from head instructor Gian's excellent leadership and instruction, he really takes the time to demonstrate and explain the techniques while creating a fun, motivating atmosphere.

1. FAMILY: When you join 8 Venoms Muay Thai, you become a family. You are there to support and help each other. You may find that if you sign up for a free trial that you become addicted in more ways than one, to the class and to the people. Your new teammates will be the ones asking if they'll see you next class, and part of the reason you say yes is because you don't want to disappoint them, and it happens in that split second after they ask the question when their face is bright with pure joy from the class and the suspense for your answer. You can't make new friends like this in a typical gym atmosphere and you sure as hell will never find the strength of a family like 8 Venoms Muay Thai.

2. FEAR FACING: "Do one thing every day that scares you." - Eleanor Roosevelt
Muay Thai is a fighting sport. You will hit and get hit. 8 Venoms gets its name because Muay Thai is known as the Art of 8 Limbs: 2 fists, 2 elbows, 2 knees, and 2 shins. You will learn to use all of them. I'm a fear facer and a big believer in it. Do I get nervous? Yes. But that's the only way to get stronger.

3. FITNESS: One aspect of Muay Thai among many that you can't get from a regular gym is that it's both a mental and physical exercise. I consider myself a forever student. If I'm not constantly learning something new, I start to get bored. I never would have dreamed that discovering Muay Thai would have been the absolute best gift I could have given myself for my recent birthday (Thanks Skylar B. who turned me onto it).

I have been to many gyms: oldschool average joe's gyms, giant gym chains, boxing gyms, etc. Before this class, I considered myself to be healthy, very active, and pretty athletic, but damn, did I get a wake up call. The class starts with jump roping... Who knew that jump roping could be so hard?! I thought I was going to die the first few times. My legs were sore as hell. I guess lifting just can't get you there. Then there's cardio, core, and flexibility, which is awesome. I'm not too too bad on the cardio and core front, but I def. struggle and need improvement. I honestly thought I was a flexible human until now...wooweee, not so much. I think part of the reason I have trouble doing certain skills sometimes is because my hips are not at all used to turning over in such a way while the balls of my feet do something else and my arm is outstretched at the same time. I swear, at the least, Muay Thai will keep my body from getting old and decrepit. Then there's the lessons on different Muay Thai skills and techniques: boxing, kicks, defense, etc, which is really...

4. FUN: Omg it's so much fun. Instructor Gian is extremely knowledgeable and cares about his students. His analogies and descriptions make everything really easy to understand. I partner with my sister sometimes and we have laughing fits. It's just fun to learn something new, practice it, and eventually get it right. I guess I should say it's funnier when you get it wrong and more rewarding when you get it right. I find myself even daydreaming about it, replaying skills I've learned in my head, and hoping that by thinking about it my body will react how I want it to (so far it doesn't, but I'm trying!). All skill levels are welcome. I am a giant newb right now. I hate it lol, and I'm determined to get better. There was a little kid in the class too and he could really hang with the rest of us. Then, there are also those who are really advanced.

8 Venoms is located in the FMA Center and the storefront is really deceiving. If you enter in the front, you go down the stairs and the place is huge. There's the front desk area, and a large viewing room, for anyone there who needs to wait. If you park in the back lot, you can enter that way and walk past the koi fish tank. The actual training space is very large with ample space to move around, and the 7:30 pm class times are also really convenient for me to make after work w/the option of the 1 class on Sat. Try it!

I only have great things to say and great experiences to share about this program. Muay Thai and the Coaches at 8 Venom's really helped change my life, physically, mentally, and helped me become a better person. Everyone is very kind, caring, and makes you feel like part of the family. I've been in the Martial Arts world since i was 5 and I've never had a coach engage and try to have his students strive toward their goals like Instuctor Gian does. He will work with you and help you achieve things you never thought you could do. When I first started I couldn't do one good push up. Now I'm banging out set after set, I was truly amazed with myself and the help I received from this program. If you want to learn self defense and have a great physical workout at the same time then I highly suggest you give this place a try. Even if you aren't looking for self defense, 8 Venom's Muay Thai will give you one of the hardest physical workouts you've had. 100% you wont regret trying out a class.
