I am 66 years old and started with Ray and Suzanne in July 2019. I enjoy working out on a 7 day basis, but wanted to try something different to shake up my routine. Enough to say that since I started my endurance, strength and physique has changed dramatically. I have dropped almost 25 pounds and my waist size has gone from 38 to 34.
What I also appreciate with Amrap is it not one size fits all. Ray and Suzanne adjust the routine based on your ability, age and specific knowledge of what your degree of ability allows. They donβt make it easy, but just enough to push you to your maximum.
Best recommendation I can make it is try it. For me itβs addictive and I look forward to each new workout with a combination of delight and fear.

Suzanne is a great person who knows her stuff. Her knowledge in Corrective Exercise sets her apart from other Crossfit Instructors. If you have a mobility or joint issue, make sure you ask Suzanne for some help!

I've been training with Coach Ray for more than four years. To be clear, that's huge. Over the previous years, I had joined and quit more gyms and programs than I care to admit. If anyone is afraid to join Crossfit due to the unfortunate stereotypes and misperceptions that still exist, let me reassure you that Crossfit is for everyone! At AMRAP, I work out with men and women of all ages, from teenagers to people in their sixties. Some have been athletes for years, while others had very little fitness experience when they joined. The environment is incredibly supportive, and I've made some of my closest friends there. I should add that I wouldn't join just any Crossfit program. It's essential to have the best possible coach, and AMRAP has that with Coach Ray. He's exceptionally knowledgeable and attentive, emphasizing proper form and technique in every movement, from weightlifting, to push-ups, to kettlebell swings, to rowing, and more. This is essential in order to maximize results and safety. He also cares... I mean REALLY cares... about the overall well-being of his clients. Seeing the physical benefits I'd made and how much I loved AMRAP, my husband also began training there two years ago. My teenager joined last year, and my 12-year-old started a couple of months ago. For our kids, we wanted to foster overall health and fitness and ensure that they learned how to correctly lift weights, because too many young individuals are at extra risk of injury due to poor form and technique. We trust the health, fitness, and well-being of our entire family to Coach Ray and his program.

By Far the Best Gym Around
In January 2014 i was out of shape and at 5'8 weighing 218 pounds i was fed up with the way i looked and felt. I walked into AMRAP fitness and met Coaches Ray And Sue. After a few workouts i was hooked and i was able to finally get into the fitness routine i needed. With excellent well programed workouts which work every part of your body and top notch Nutrition Advice i was down to 165 pounds just in time for summer 2014 and in The best Shape Of my life. One year After Joining Im Faster and Stronger Then Ive ever been and have Never been more Confident and Happy. AMRAP is More Then Fitness though it has become like a family to me with the most close knit supportive community around.

I'm not the online reviewing type, and created my Google+ profile just to write this review because it is so well deserved. Ray and Suzanne run a fantastic operation here. Their careful and conscientious coaching will help anyone from novice to expert achieve great results. The facility is full of the finest equipment, and Ray's expert programming ensures that it is utilized to the fullest effect. I've worked out at many gyms/boxes and with some excellent training partners, but AMRAP is hands down the best.

I worked out at several gyms in the area and always ended up either bored or injured and never really got any positive, sustainable results out of the time/money spent. With Ray's guidance over the past 8 months, I've lost weight, improved my mobility, and have halved the medications I was taking for various conditions--my doctors are thrilled.
Ray pushes me in the workouts but also makes sure I'm working safely--there isn't pressure to keep up with "younger pups" in my class. I wholeheartedly recommend Crossfit as an exercise method and Ray as a great coach.

I've been working out with Ray for several years, initially with private training to get some focused instruction and group training for the past 2 years. Ray challenged everything I knew about exercise and possibly more importantly everything I knew about diet. It has truly been a life changing experience for me. There is absolutely no question that I am in better shape at 47 than at any other time in my life and I was never in bad shape. The most important part to me is how I have noticed this translate into my life outside of the gym. I can ski all day without needing a break or feeling tired in my legs. I can throw a ball with my 2 boys without any pain in my shoulder though I had been told previously I had a torn labrum and needed surgery. I can squat in a catchers position to catch for my 2 pitchers with no pain in my knees when I used to need to sit on a bucket. Yes it is intense. Yes there are times when I have pain in places that I didn't know I had muscles but those are pains that I know will lead to improvement. Great community oriented place to get a great workout.

Ray and Suzanne flat-out rock! Their passion and commitment to CrossFit is incredibly inspiring -- and they patiently work with athletes of all levels to achieve optimal fitness success. Just as importantly, they foster a supportive and family-style environment that will guarantee a laugh and smile during every session!
Like most runners, I had very little if any upper body strength when I first started CrossFit. I was tremendously discouraged as I could barely muster one chest-to-ground push-up -- and I was equally intimidated by the workouts. But thanks to Ray's encouragement and careful instruction, every week has been an improvement as well as a FUN learning experience. Ray takes scalability very seriously -- meaning that he ensures you are challenging yourself at the level that is right for you....and not risking injury due to poor/compromised form.
I feel so fortunate to have CrossFit S. Rockland in my neighborhood! Highly, highly recommend!

I have had experience with working out in two other CrossFit boxes before coming to AMRAP Fitness, and I was frustrated with my lack of coordination and inability to do certain movements. I decided to come here because of a job change. I stumbled in to the best training I have ever experienced!
I realized was not being taught properly before, the instruction here is so detailed you can't not succeed! The instructors, Ray and Suzanne are painstaking in their instruction, always putting safety first while pushing everyone to achieve new goals.
I have been training with Ray for 7 months and my performance has skyrocketed! With nearly every CrossFit certification available, a Bachelors and a Masters degree I know I can trust his knowledge and expertise.
There is a reason why AMRAP athletes consistently place well in the CrossFit open, because it is exceptional training by professionals that continually learn and hone their skills
