I had a “1 yr contract” for $25 a month with a $40 annual. But after a while, I’ve notice $75 was being charged every two weeks. I tried reaching out numerous times and even went to the gym to speak to a manager. No one is ever available. I had to cancel my cards because they wouldn’t cancel the membership and now I’m getting calls from collections. Terrible management.

Giving 2 stars for the fact this location is not 24/7 and that Im here at 6 am and its closed with no staff on site or lights on. I pay for a 24/7 access just to not be able to access facility. Will be canceling my membership

Been going here for years and am looking forward to the remodel. Already seen some changes under new ownership that have had a positive impact so. It's definitely worth a stop in if looking for a gym. Open 24/7 is great too.

I've had a great experience training at anytime fitness. This location has lots of room to train and lots of equipment. The staff is very professional and this facility is clean. Waiting for equipment hasn't been a problem at the times that I go so I can always complete my routine. Highly recommended!!!

This place is the most dysfunctional unethical buisness I have ever seen in my life. They have no competent people in the building. The manager is a joke the owner doesn’t know how to run a buisness. I feel that it is a fraud company charging people at a random date with no explanation what so ever. The gym has no good accessories no pool, no sauna, nothing and they think that charging 50 dollars a person is “reasonable.” There are barely no machines and barely any weights. This place is a joke of a gym just like the manager and owner. I highly recommend you spend your money at a better ran gym that is actually worth the money!!

The ONLY good thing I can say about this gym was the location for us. The gym is nothing special and the prices went from $42.50 to $95.96 a month without any notice- the owner states that there was a 30 day notice sent out in June (we received NOTHING) about the price change but we were charged that new pricing in June, so how does that make sense? Both the manager and the owner were not helpful in anyway whatsoever- the owner is just money hungry and could care less about his customers. The bathrooms were ALWAYS disgusting when I went here in the mornings, and the cleansing towels were always out of stock most of the time. This place is a complete ghost town and im sure it will be shut down sooner or later because who in their right mind would pay these prices for a basic gym that is NOTHING special. There are absolutely no improvements at this gym for this crazy price increase. Please shop around before committing to this organization. Theres so much better out there.

Hi! I love Anytime Fitness and go to different locations often! I used to love this location but I am unsure if they changed ownership or what not but over the course of 3 years it has gotten “run down”. The basketball court was damaged and never repaired, the spare room has bikes that are thrown in the corner, no mats to stretch on (just two mini gymnastic mats ?), gym feel unfortunately dirty, weights thrown everywhere, bathrooms are questionable, never seen one staff member here in 3 years, less wipes/ wipe down stations around, and just overall run down and dirty! It’s just sad to see one of my favorite locations go downhill.

Shady. Signed up just to have an off hours workout spot. At time of signing the manager and I agreed on and added language to the contract to allow for open membership allowing for termination at Anytime. The Manager who signed me up is no longer working there🧐… New manager response: First he told me I was in a two year contract 😂 Then he said it’s a one year contract - no exceptions. I asked about the language that was added at the time of signing and he said “ that applies after the one year contract” what??😂 Hopefully there’s better management next week 😂

I am the 96th person to leave a 1 star review…..that saying something

They don’t let you cancel without paying a bunch of money that wasn’t in your contract. Call to cancel, they Tell you to come in to cancel, give you time ‘between now and 5’ go in between that time and they say can’t do it right now after they just told you to come in.they refused to produce the original contract signed— make sure you get a copy if you make the mistake of signing up here. They said “you got tricked” when telling them what the rep said when originally signing up. Who willingly admits that?! Pathetic, unprofessional business practices and nasty attitude. Stay away. If you read the other reviews you’ll see this is the common occurrence.

When I first joined a few years ago the gym was great - lots of classes, clean… a place I looked forward to going to. Fast forward 3 years and it’s a completely different place. It’s overpriced for what’s offered, it is always dirty and disgusting, there are hardly any classes offered anymore and worst of all, the management (that changes all the time) has been nothing but rude and belittling for the last few years. It is NOT okay to yell at or be disrespectful to your customers. This is one of the many reasons I left this gym. So thankful for the few instructors they do have for making my experience there worthwhile for the time being. I highly recommend to find any other gym to join.

Started (and cancelled) my contract in Ohio and used this gym while I was on the road to shower and whatnot. Little did I know, they transferred my entire account over and started charging me AGAIN for an account I closed. Faithfully paid my monthly for over 3 years and they fought tooth and nail to avoid me cancelling to squeeze more cash.
After explaining this to the owner after getting debt collection calls from them, he told me I was SOL and needed to pay him more to cancel. After trying to get some explanation, he eventually just started yelling so I hung up and promptly blocked all numbers involved.
Today, this organization has put me in a group chat with 11 other people about money owed and not wanting to “take it to the credit bureau” and “not wanting it to get to that point”. Extremely idiotic, unprofessional, and pathetic.

TL;DR Don’t sign up for anything involving anytime fitness. Not just in NJ, but literally anywhere else.

Do not sign up for this gym! They will not give you an appointment to cancel and if they do they will not show up. I have tried to cancel a couple times I had called no one calls me back and no one helps me. I will have to take actions into my own hands and get kicked out if they do not allow me to cancel my account. I have called the corporate office and left messages and also I'm writing this review. They are a scam and I'm tired of being g mistreated.

They are not customer friendly at all. All they want is your money and are super quick to tell you things that are flat out untrue just to get you to sign up. The “salesman” of this organization are some of the slimiest I’ve ever dealt with. They even make canceling your subscription an extremely drawn out process to try to discourage you. So sick of it. Poor organization, record keeping, customer service, and communication. First off, I want to start this review by saying I’m not the kind of person to complain, be negative, or even have extra time to write a review. However, this one is necessary because I have NEVER been so DISAPPOINTED by any other business or service I have received. Back in June this year, I went in to sign paper work to cancel my membership due to moving away from the area. I was told by Aaron that my last payment would come out in July. When I later found out I was also charged for August, I called and spoke to Aaron who said he remembered me coming in to cancel but couldn’t find the records of it. He assured me he would look for the paperwork and take care of things. A week went by so I called back and he claims he had to talk to the owner first, but the owner was on vacation for a week. I call another week later and Aaron tells me that I would have to come back in and resign paperwork OR I could send a letter stating I wanted my membership revoked. I sent my cancellation letter, also requesting to be refunded for the months I was wrongly billed for due to their poor record keeping. I mailed out my letter and was told by Aaron that they received my cancellation and that my membership was officially cancelled, but that I would be charged again for September. After already being so inconvenienced, I settled for this but asked for a simple email stating that my membership was in fact cancelled. I confirmed the email they had on file for me and Aaron said he would send the email that day. Never received an email, so I called and left unreturned voice messages three days in a row, still no email. It’s pretty pathetic that a couple more bills out of me were worth more than the gym’s reputation.

On mobile, so won't be able to tell my whole experience.

TL;DR: Save your contract receipts. Owner and manager will purposely be as difficult as possible to cancel.

- Sign up at Deptford location Oct. 2018 for 1 year with 3 months free (in reality it's a 15 month contract with 3 months free, rather than 12 months with 3 free, but they don't tell you that)

- Location closes with no notice (no call or email, corporate says I, "slipped through the cracks"?)

- Go to Williamstown location and key fob won't work (later found corporate said my account was set to inactive without cause, no missed payments or anything). Page with listed hours was ripped off the door... Had to call the location and manager let me in.

- Tell him I want to cancel and he says I owe $600+ because I have to pay half my remaining contract... but I only signed up for a year ($35/month)? His 'system' says I'm signed on for 3 years somehow even though he admits that isn't a thing.

- Called corporate multiple times who claimed to call the owner and look for possible resolutions but he never answered them or called me.

- Luckily I found my receipt which clearly said I only signed up for a year. Bring it with me this time and now that I have proof, this manager pulls out a binder of the actual contracts to verify my contract... after saying multiple times the "system" had me on for 3 years, he could've just checked the binder.

- But even after verifying, he still had to: call the owner, send the owner a picture of my contract, and wait to see if the owner will "accept" my contract. Once they "accepted" it, I got a receipt of everything because I was worried they'd charge me for whatever reason.

READ THIS BEFORE SIGNING UP!

First I will confirm all the concerning reviews below are accurate.

I was a member at Anytime Fitness for a few months, its a horrible gym with bad lighting and feels like you are in a dungeon. There is a random guy who slept/sleeps on the couches inside and if he wasn’t inside, he would be sitting in the car. Really strange and made my girlfriend and others in the reviews feel very uncomfortable. I decided to cancel because I moved out of the area, the process was a disaster but finally I signed a cancelation form WHICH MYSELF AND THE GYM SIGNED. I have thought I was cancelled for now 4 months and all the sudden I receive a charge to my account. I call the gym and was given NO EXPLANATION for the charge. I was told that a past management employee signed the form and they decided to leave (good choice). I was told “I don’t know why your account wasn’t cancelled” I then said me either can you cancel my account. I asked if they could cancel my account since for some crazy reason it wasn’t. I was told “I can’t cancel your account” and I asked to speak to an owner and was told “The owner wont reverse the charge”. Keep in mind I HAVE A CANCELATION FORM SIGNED AND DATED BY MANAGEMENT.So now their problem becomes my problem with the past management employee? This location builds their business on lies and squeezing customers for money with no explanation. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stay far away from this location because if your planning on eventually cancelling you will be charged despite cancelling your membership with documentation. Not to mention the entire franchise sucks and theres no way to contact anyone for any help. I filled out a few forms on the corporate site and haven’t heard anything back in months, this seems to be a common theme. Owners need to wake up and stop charging people bogus charges without explanation.

Quick read: Horrible gym and you will be charged despite cancelling and having a signed cancellation form. You will get charges months after cancelling.

THIS PLACE AND OWNER ARE A JOKE. If I could, I wouldn’t even give this place one star.. I recently went to the deptford location and the owner closed the gym down and transferred everyone to the Williamstown location without even warning anyone or giving anyone any option to cancel or stay with that location.. trying to even cancel your membership after this whole big “transfer” is impossible because the owner will not even give you a call back or take anything into consideration. This is seriously the worst gym and owner ever.

Copied from my review of the Deptford location:

"Anytime Fitness was a great gym. I say was because they single handedly ruined any chance of continuing to be one. Here is the scoop:

Around October Anytime brings in a new "Manager." Now this "Manager" comes to Anytime, friendly guy, walks around and gets to know everyone. He then sends out emails/texts to all the current members saying "Hey we appreciate your business, we want to bring you in and offer you new member offers, 4 months free blah blah blah." So you think, ok cool finally a business who wants to keep customers going. They get a bunch of people signing back up and bringing their friend to be new members. All is well.

Fast forward to December and the new "Manager" is no where to be found. Come to find out, the replaced him with another new "Manager." This new "Manager" is nice and friendly much like the last guy, but she was different. She was more focused on getting you to bring your friends in under any circumstances to try and get them to sign up. They even started having flyers around the gym like some cell phone store or used car dealer to try and get you to sign new members up. But hey, I understand you want new members whatever.

This new "Manager" only lasts a little bit then they bring in another "Manager." She was here for a couple of weeks and then at the beginning of February they send out an email saying they are closing this location and everyone has to go to the Williamstown location instead starting at the end of the month. Now I don't know if they've ever gone to the Williamstown location, but it has nothing on this location. It's a weird design, it's dark, it feels dirty. So no I don't want to go to the Williamstown location I want to go to the location I've been going to for a couple years now. They tell me that we can only leave if we pay half of what we still owe. Now I'm no expert, nor do I claim to be one, but you just so happen to be closing after the four free months you offered to people and are forcing them to drive further to a worse location. That is way too much of a coincidence for me and they will never get my business or anyone I knows business ever again.

TL;DR do not spend your time or money at Anytime Fitness and their "Managers""

I was harassed by a club member at Anytime Fitness Williamstown. He would lock the door so no one else could get in, stand behind the cardio machines to watch women on them, and watch women in the parking lot. He also used the facilities to sleep in the lounge area. After multiple complaints to the manager, I decided to cancel because my voice was going unheard. I felt uncomfortable, harassed, and targeted. The manger at the time accepted my corby and cancellation letter and allowed me to cancel without penalty. Little did I know, three months later, I am charged by Anytime Fitness. I was informed I was never cancelled and I was just frozen. The manager who said he would cancel me and never did, does not work there anymore. The current manager said to freeze your account I was told a form needs to be filled out and he said there is not a form on file stating to freeze me. Without my knowledge or consent this manager decided to freeze my account. Now the gym is trying to have me pay a buyout because I am still in contract. I am not paying a buyout when I was harassed, deceived, and told I would be cancelled without any kind of penalty. Now conveniently that manager no longer works there. The gym does not care about the well-being of their members. If a woman is being harassed by another member, the gym should take action. (they are trying to say they took action which is conveniently after I left the gym) The entire gym is video taped so they could easily see the harassment. I have e-mails of my complaints of the harassment and nothing being done. The current manager actually laughed on the phone at me when I was in tears talking about what transpired. No man or women should have to feel uncomfortable and they should never be mocked when they express their concerns of harassment.
