I had the privilege of spending what was pretty much the first 10 years of my life inside of this dojo. During my time there I thought I was learning how to defend myself and others, I even received my black belt before I even was a teenager which at the time I felt was some sort of validation in the skills I had learned in self defense. I have since been out of karate for about 6-7 years and yes while I do know how to spar, perform kata and self defense, those are skills that if I'm lucky, and I mean this in the best way possible, I will never have to use in my life. The thing that has stuck with me the most is the inter and intrapersonal skills I acquired through my time there. The staff of instructors at Art Beins during my time there became an extension of my family, and to this day I have so much love and respect for every person in that building. They taught me from a young age that "you leave your signature on everything you do in life." I learned how to be disciplined, goal oriented, hard working, and brave. They taught me how to publicly speak, how to shake another persons hand, and above all else how to become a better version of myself than I was each time I stepped in and out of the dojo. I am now 18 and a month away from leaving home to pursue a college degree and will be a part of the schools football team. I continue to use the ideology and protocol that was drilled into me on a daily basis in my jobs, my relationships, my athletics, and with myself and my own personal growth. This is all without me even realizing that if it were not for my tenure in karate, I would not be where I am right now in my life. That is until writing this review. Martial arts teaches you how to be a better human being and disguises it with impressive moves, physical fitness and conditioning, and combat. I can confidently say I can go out into the world and accomplish anything because of the piece of mind I left my martial arts journey with. ABK4L❤️

Since my son started about 2 months ago I’ve noticed his confidence building. My 4 children have been going to Art Beins Karate Dojo in Howell, NJ since February of 2021. They have the most dedicated and hard working staff! They have a lot of patience and care when working with my children. There are always extra black belts, and teachers assisting in all classes to ensure every child in the class gets the help they need.

Our family can only rave about this dojo! Their programs starting from the Little Rangers, the Black Belt Club, etc begin their journey to greater confidence and commitment. Their Sempai instructors are engaging, and give younger kids something to aspire to...their Sensei instructors are patient, encouraging, and amazing teachers. Master Mesimer runs a safe and organized dojo with a family feel. He makes sure everything is in line with Kenpo Karate teachings (including beliefs, technique, discipline), but also genuinely cares about his students. Our 6 year old daughter chooses this sport above all others every time. We have even hosted her birthday party there. AnnMarie my granddaughter became a black belt 4 days before her 12th birthday. Her sister Eloise age 7 is a purple belt and the youngest sister, Frankie age 5 will be testing for her half yellow belt tomorrow. I’m amazed at the dedication shown by the instructors at the Freehold dojo. We get to interact with the Howell dojo also and we love the instructors there also. I believe self defense is very important these days, especially for young girls. I’ve learned few tricks myself just observing the girls classes. We call the people and the dojo our Karate family.

Good for kids of all ages. From 4 to however old, there is something for everyone. My son does karate, I do kickboxing and it's amazing to be able to share that bond with my son.
