**10 out of 10 — absolutely recommend!**

We’ve been to so many weddings lately where it was clear the bride and groom had taken dance lessons — and even clearer that they were *having a blast!* So while planning our own wedding (a second for both of us), we decided to give it a try.

Still a little apprehensive — neither of us would ever be described as graceful, lol — we signed up for a simple package at the Arthur Murray School of Dance in Highland Park. Our instructors were fantastic! We primarily worked with Michael, who built our wedding dance from the ground up. With help from Max, Bob, and the rest of the amazing instructor team, we not only avoided looking ridiculous for our first dance — we actually looked, not just good, but like we were enjoying ourselves!

Beyond that, we had so much fun learning with Michael and the entire A.M. team. It was absolutely worth every penny. Our lessons quickly became a highlight of the week — a fun date night we truly looked forward to. We even snuck in a beginner group class or two as well. We were actually a little sad when it was over.

**Huge thanks to Michael for his patience, creativity, and great energy — it was perfect!**

My partner and I came here for our wedding dance. Michael was our instructor and he was absolutely fabulous the entire time. Everyone was so friendly and encouraging every time we walked in and went through our dance. We are both are excited to present our hard work to our friends and family and have the confidence because of the lessons we received here.

After almost 10 years of nonstop dancing at Arthur Murray Dance Center Central NJ, I think you would have to say I am a fan.
The instructors will get you to do things you never thought possible.
They will teach you one on one.
They will teach you in group lessons
They will party with you and perform for you on Dance nights
The instructors are amazing.
They are kind
They are skilled.
They are fun.
They are amazing professional dancers themselves.
So get away from your phone and try something that will actually make you feel good.
You will find yourself enjoying the company of your fellow students.
Come with a partner or come on your own like me.

A great place to learn to dance! My wife and signed up for the intro package and have been there for almost a year now. We love the instructors, there are lots of group classes and really fun dance parties where you can go and try out what you’ve learned. The instructors are really great at tailoring a program to your needs and skill levels.

My fiancé and I have been taking lessons to learn how to dance and to gain confidence when going to dance in front of our families for our first dance. We have primarily been working with Michael as our instructor though we have had an opportunity to work with most of the other instructors at one point or another as well. We cannot recommend dance lessons through Arthur Murray Highland Park enough. Truly, if you are thinking of taking dance lessons anywhere and have any nervousness holding you back this is where all of that ends.

Our first day we met Bob who is such an amazing dancer himself and always kind! He will greet you with open arms and a warm smile! We always feel welcome whenever he greets us! Morgan is such a joy to learn from as well and it’s amazing to watch her switch so easily between leader and follower. She has such grace and adaptability on the dance floor! Jade is usually at the front desk when we arrive and she always greets us by first name! She has such a great memory for even the smallest things we bring up in conversation! Make sure to say hi to her if you stop in!
Stop thinking and just call and set up your first lessons! In particular, we cannot recommend Michael enough. He is knowledgeable, kind, and patient. He will have you feeling confident in yourself while also giving you room to grow. He knows how to push you to grow at your pace without making you feel like you don’t belong or aren’t good enough. My fiancé and I would literally leave the studio only to want to dance in the parking lot and practice everything Michael has taught us. We went in with zero experience in dance except for awkward middle school dances and today we feel we have found such a treasure! My fiancé and I now enjoy just dancing wherever and whenever we have the opportunity. We may not be experts but Michael showed us how to enjoy dancing and gave us a new passion we can enjoy together. It may sound cliche but what we thought would be simple dance lessons has truly felt life altering in just how much we have gained from just a few weeks of lessons. Not only do we have a new activity we love to do together but we have felt our own confidence shift too. No matter what instructor you find at Arthur Murray Highland Park you’ll be in amazing and skilled hands though we won’t deny we are biased towards Michael :)

My partner and I had an amazing time throughout our dance lessons. Nothing but praises for Roxanne and Michael. Nothing short then amazing. Communication was clear and if you needed more help or like to advance in a certain skill they will help you achieve this. The private lessons along with group lessons were both extraordinary. Once starting classes you will love to keep going forever. The community in these studios are very friendly and willing to answer any questions. Personal yet professional relationship will be formed to lower any nervousness anybody will have.

My fianceé and I have been working with Roxanne for several lessons to get ready for our wedding, and she has been fabulous! All staff that I've interacted with has been energetic, helpful, and we have been enjoying each experience there. We have yet to make one of the group classes, but plan to shortly. Highly recommend checking them out

Roxanne & Ben were invaluable in helping prep us for our wedding. What a fun and rewarding crash course in the art of the box step and twirl.

Ben and Roxanne are both such fun, skilled instructors! My fiancé and I had a four lesson “crash course” with them during which they helped us get ready for the first dance at our wedding. We haven’t had our wedding yet, but we feel so much more confident for the big day after learning the dance they choreographed for our song! We can’t wait to refine it and have a blast.

This place is really sweet. The instructors are all very knowledgeable, kind, and fun! You can tell they really put effort into building a sense of community and non judgement. A refreshing experience to be a part of the little Arthur Murray family for a while while I lived in this part of town. Highly recommend for anyone like me that doesn’t have any experience and wants to give it a go in a welcoming place with folks of all skill levels 👍.

Had our dance lessons here for our wedding. I went in not being able to keep a beat and with no dance knowledge. After just 2 months of classes I felt confident during mine and my wife’s first dance. We worked closest with Ben and he was excellent. Every time we got to work with Bob and Roxanne their enthusiasm rubbed off on us and we had a great time.

Arthur Murray/ An unforgettable Memory, Sooseon Kim

“Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we’re here we should dance.”

Hi. This is Susan Kim. I’m from Seoul, Korea. I want to share a very special experience I had during last summer. I was so lucky to join the ballroom dance classes for 2 weeks at Arthur Murray (Franchised Dance Centers), located in Highland Park, NJ

After the first free lesson and consultation with the instructor, Ben, I instantly decided to register Arthur Murray and spend my time & energy on Ballroom dancing. Ben recommended me to choose ‘Starter Program Package’. At that time, I only had two weeks left before going back to Korea. He explained to me, “It would be great to experience as many as possible in various ways. Starter Program consists of Individual Lesson, Group Lesson and Practice Session.
How was it?

It was an absolutely awesome experience. All the teachers and staff were kind, friendly and gorgeous. Also, the atmosphere of the studio was very comfortable and convenient for the sake of students. Needless to say, Ben was a very gentle, professional and confident teacher. I instantly figured out how extremely well-qualified he was. I was amazed by not only his elaborate teaching skills but also his endless patience with his students.^^

Actually, I never expected that there was a decent dance studio near my place, New Brunswick. I only searched several dance centers in Manhattan and gave up easily due to an inconvenient location. That’s why I was so excited to find out Arthur Murray in Highland Park.
“Exposure & Repetition” these two key words that Ben emphasized to me every time. Those two words are still kept in my mind.

We have loved our classes at Arthur Murray! My husband and I have always wanted to be able to dance at weddings and now we can and do! We enjoyed our beginners program so much that we signed up for the next level as a 30th anniversary present to ourselves. The teachers are all wonderful and so are our fellow students. Highly recommend!

After searching through many websites for a place to continue my dance education and dance with my partner, I came across the Groupon for Arthur Murray! It had been a while since our last class, but we weren''t too out of practice and really wanted to get back into salsa.

This Groupon sounded perfect: three private + three group lessons. We thought we would get back on track and challenge ourselves with the private and then practice in the group classes. My dad warned us not to go there after his experience, but I thought surely it couldn't be that bad!

Once we took the first class, however, it became clear that I was wrong.

The teachers all follow a strict curriculum, defined in little boxes on a sheet of paper. When I told them "Salsa" what they heard was "All the latin-style dances" and proceeded to teach me the very very most basic steps for many different dances, making no progress on any single one of them. It didn't make any difference that I had a lot of dance experience; they still followed the same order and would not stray from that. So really, despite paying for private lessons, we had no say in what would actually be learning, nor was it tailored to our skill level.

All lessons also take place in the same room, at the same time. You are more likely to be learning salsa to swing or tango music than to actual salsa. How on earth can one learn salsa to the wrong music!?

They also cut the private classes short. In the Groupon it offers 3 30-minute private classes, but at the studio they said they would only be 25 minutes long.

However, despite all of these disappointments, the group classes were by far the worst experience. They stuck us in their "fundamentals" class, which doesn't specify which dances you will learn. We ended up doing 10 minutes of swing, 10 minutes of foxtrot, and 10 minutes of another dance. The last 7 minutes of class, we spent boosting each others' morale by sharing our "take-aways" from the class and encouraging each other that we are all winners! What a waste of time. I just wanted to dance.

It seems clear that their strategy is to keep people at a basic level for as long as possible - they even repeated MULTIPLE times that "Practice makes progress" in the context of "keep taking the fundamentals class, because you can never practice fundamentals enough."

I can only be thankful that I paid for the Groupon, and not for their $500+ beginner package. Please don't go here. If you want to learn how to dance, go literally anywhere else.
