I’m very confused as a member of this gym why I still have to pay my monthly fees if the location is under renovation? It looks a mess maybe you should close it down and pause fees until the renovation is done, the first day I was there it was lifts and ladders everywhere, very dangerous. On top of dealing with that the work out machines are trash….the treadmills incline and decline on their own, they also accelerate on their own, the stair master is malfunctioning and I mean all of them but two,it’s only one of everything gym equipment wise, such as ab abductors and other machines similar to that. But you guys want to take our hard earned money to workout in filth and pay a $80 fee if we want to cancel. I bet you one thing I guarantee the Blink fitness In South orange or nutley are being faced with these problems. These companies kill me coming in the Urban communities thinking they can do what they want….But today this won’t fly. BBB….

After having this membership for a couple of years now.
I’ve had mixed experiences at Blink Fitness in Irvington, and I’d like to share my honest perspective. The gym's hours tend to work best for me when I go early in the mornings or around 1 pm. During these times, the facility is usually less crowded, and I can get a good workout without much hassle.

However, visiting during other times can be quite frustrating. The gym can feel crowded and somewhat chaotic, which detracts from the workout experience. One major issue is the accessibility of equipment — many machines are often broken or out of order. Additionally, members tend to occupy stations for long periods, sometimes sitting on their phones for at least 25 minutes, which limits other members’ ability to use the equipment efficiently.

Another concern is the state of the gym floor. Free weights are frequently left scattered around, creating a hazard for anyone walking through the gym. If you're not careful, you could trip or even injure yourself on the scattered weights, which is frustrating and potentially unsafe.

The overall environment has a somewhat "ghetto fabulous" vibe, which may not appeal to everyone looking for a more polished gym experience.

While I appreciate the affordability and the convenience of location, the recurring issues with equipment availability, cleanliness, and the atmosphere make it a challenging place to consistently enjoy your workouts. Improvements in these areas would significantly enhance the overall experience.

Safety Hazard: Weights Left Out.
A significant concern at the Blink Fitness in Irvington is the widespread issue of members leaving weights on the gym floor, often outside designated lifting zones. This is particularly noticeable near weight machines and in walkways. This creates a serious tripping hazard, and if you're not constantly vigilant about where you're stepping, you could easily trip, leading to injuries such as broken toe. Convenient. Various equipment. My biggest complaint is people sitting on the chair of the equipment while on their phones not even using the equipment. Up to a half hour. Sometimes I'll tell them that I want to share the equipment. They'll get up and sit on another machine. 🗣 "Go home and sit down."

This has been my home gym for years. I don't know if it's the same management but, I am very disappointed. One of my main cardio equipment is the spin bike of which two of them have been broken for MONTHS!!! All I hear is they waiting on the part? Like really??.. please, you have a good gym, take care of your machines. Replace it if you have to. I can understand one not working, but BOTH!!.. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. please get it repaired or replaced ... The manager before I belive his name was John, had that place clean. I don't know who is management now but, cleanliness is lacking. The gym is convenient for most, the morning is better than evening, unless you go after 9pm. Maybe because school is out there is more of a club feeling going on most people just hanging out.

The morning staff is very pleasant.

I haven't seen a professional cleaning crew, so that's different. In DC there's always a crew maintaining bathroom and gym floor through out the day.

The gym lacks sufficient equipment—there’s basically only one of each machine, and if something breaks, it takes forever to get fixed, which is frustrating considering the membership isn’t that cheap. It also gets really crowded at peak times. Some of the staff are friendly, but others seem indifferent and unhelpful. I also had an issue with my membership: no one informed me it was going to expire and be canceled. I kept checking in with no problem, and then suddenly it was canceled without any warning, which was very disappointing.

They did a duplicate membership to my friend and don’t want to give the money back after charging her 2 times. They don’t answer calls or emails. Terrible customer experience and a terrible gym.

Update: they respond here but don’t respond email or calls. When going in person at the gym they say are only calling customer service so no help. She already sent an email and the problem was not solved. So no help with the answer here.

I signed up blink last month and apparently you guys made a duplicated membership for me.

I was charged twice for the monthly payment last month, this month and twice for the annual fee too.

I’ve already checked AND cancelled the ONLY membership I had with blink, and when I signed up with my iCloud email, blink had another one of my emails in the registration and I’ve being charged basically $194 between monthly payment and annual fee (only talking about this month, because if I go back to last month that would go up to $258 being $129 wrongly charged.

I’ve already called blink, I’ve already called customer service, I’ve already opened a complaint in the website and no one is solving my problem about giving me a refund.

I had a grand experience with this company and wanted to take a moment to rate them right I use to go tho the location at Perth Amboy and it got close unfortunately but I was confused and concerned about the subscription I try to log in online but was not able to cancel it I had call one of the nearest gyms and they where very nice from the start and the person notify me that he was not sure if it will cancel automatically or not but he was going to put on a request to get a call back or I can call back sometime later they call me to verify that my subscription was cancel and they were willing to accommodate me in their location unfortunately is not this location is far from me but it was a grate experience highly recommended

I'm rating this facility 2 stars because of the employees and trainers. They are friendly and professional. I can't say the same for management,Gary needs training on how to be professional. Most of the equipment in the gym are not working and the common area where you stretch is usually dirty.
The machines need fixing!!!

I am editing this review on May 9,2024. I see some improvement re management. The ladies in charge are doing an amazing job. They are active in improving the gym. I also realize that there are less broken equipment. Good job!!!! 👍

I’ve been to 3 different blink locations (upstate New York , south orange and Irvington) so far and this one is definitely the smallest / worst option out of the 3.

men’s bathroom has 1 toilet which is bizarre to me considering caffeine and its effects on your bowel movement .there’s no paper towels and the hand dryer barely works so after you’re done using the bathroom expect to leave with wet hands

during the previous summer 2-3 machines were out of service for like 3 months so it’s interesting to me how they charge you so much for maintenance fees yet .. they don’t upkeep on it

poor choice of a water fountain too. it’s not very water bottle friendly which is very ironic for a GYM

Other then that staff are nice and friendly and everything else is fine. Blink itself is alright place to work out ,but the way they constructed this location bothers me

I was of the impression that I was purchasing sessions, not subscribing to a monthly subscription. I was asked to authorize the payment and the signature that I used end up twice on a three page agreement which obviously I could not read on a signing pad. This games staff is very uncooperative, and not refunding the money they took from my account unauthorized. I wish I never started a membership with Blinks. They tell all the good perks with pricing. But, when I went in December of 2022 to cancel and paid them for and extra month (January 2023) I spent one year with this gym before I cancel, and they are still billing me..they want me to pay a cancelation fee. In the beginning they never said anything about a cancelation fee. In fact I was advised that I can cancel at anytime. When I mentioned it to the rep. The rep said, yea they tell us NOT to mention that, just tell us to make the sale! And now they calling me talking about sending my account to collections. They won't be around long be dishonest. Management needs training in customer relations and professionalism. Rick is very rude, cold and lacks tact. I came in to cancel my membership but needed a fee removed before doing so. When his staff informed him of my request, he didn’t even bother to greet me to explain the policy. He instead sent his staff back out with a post-it of the phone payment company. They could not help, claiming they were a third party company without access. He only then decided to come out when I had the phone agent repeat this to the front desk staff. When he came out, he still did not greet me. He instead fidgeted around, avoiding eye contact with me with his arms crossed. Still, not apologizing or expressing any concern over my request. I received an email address to submit my request from the agent over the phone. I asked Rick for his work email so I may copy him to the email and he responded, “I’m not giving you my email.” His demeanor toward my request exacerbated the situation because I feel this is a regular occurrence that has made the staff cold to member concerns. To be clear, I only requested the annual fee be removed since I was canceling and had not used the center in over a year and had already paid annual fees without utilizing the center. No due diligence was done to verify my request. Apparently no one has authorization to adjust any fees. No accountability. Only attitude and mainly from the gym manager.
As I type this, I am still at the gym waiting on a response from the support contact because you can only cancel in person and I can’t cancel with this fee attached to the accounts. Has Rick offered to complete the cancellation once support responds to my request, no. 0 customer service or consideration.

I am a new veteran new to NJ and looking for a gym. After running around all day I thought I’d knock out two stones at once and check out this blink fitness as well as use the restroom that I urgently needed. Something as simple as asking to use the restroom turned into a negative review and no desire to spend my time and money at this establishment. The location of the gym looks very unsafe along with the little to no parking. Idk what kind of people the two employees are used to seeing, but denying a potential customer from using the restroom is unacceptable.
