About the Club

At Char Fitness Club we encourage athletes of all ages + skill-levels to try our 45-minute, low-impact group classes. Our focus is on form and technique over everything in order to minimize injury and keep you healthy. We have two classes called HIIT Strength + HIIT Sweat that combine weight, bodyweight and high-intensity interval training to get maximum results. We also provide small-group or one-on-one personal training. No matter what your fitness goals are, you don't have to do it alone! Our amazing community and elite-level trainers will make sure you're getting results you can see and feel.

Char is incredible! There is a great variety of workouts and they vary to focus on strength, cardio, mobility, or a combo. They combine strength trainig and HIIT for a ferocious workout which you can take at your own pace, modify, and ask questions as you go. The instructions are incredibly engaging, truly want to help you meet your goals, and provide a really welcoming atmosphere for people at all levels and backgrounds. I can't recommend it enough!

As a former Division I athlete and current healthcare professional, I have a solid understanding of exercise and programming. Because of this, I tend to be reluctant to change. I know what I like and what works for me. However, I approached Coach Mirabelle with the goal of switching up my routine and shared both my objectives and my current program with her.

She took the time to design a tailored plan, explaining every detail thoroughly and answering all my questions with depth and clarity. Now on my second round of her six-week programming, I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been. I feel stronger, more confident in my lifts, and have seen noticeable improvements in my overall balance and strength.

Mirabelle’s programming is not only effective but also intentional, addressing weaknesses and imbalances while pushing me toward my goals. She is passionate about her work and fully committed to her clients. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to elevate their training!!

I’ve have taken 20+ HIIT strength classes and I’ve never found myself counting down the minutes like I usually do when working out. I love char! When I started, I was a beginner and it was my first time in a real gym. These classes helped boost my confidence and made me feel strong. All the coaches are so friendly, helpful, and amazing (shout out to Anthony, Rock, and Sam!!). If a movement doesn't work for you, they make sure to modify it or give you an alternative. They also make sure to check in with each person during the workout to make sure you're okay. It makes my teacher heart very happy to see the differentiation and check-ins! :) Overall I love it so much and I am so glad I found it!!

Char Fitness is a fantastic gym. My experience is with the group HIIT Strength classes which include two supersets of 4 strength training exercises, followed by an 8-12 minute HIIT depending on the day. The classes are set up to automatically rotate through Lower Body, Upper Body, and Full Body (includes core) so you don't need to think - just show up and put in the work. My favorite part is the welcoming atmosphere, where the instructors encourage you to find your current level and improve it over time. There's never any shame if you can't keep up for any reason, and they are willing to work around any injuries or issues. I highly recommend checking it out!

After moving to Bloomfield from NYC I tried a bunch of places, and I noticed that at Char Fitness, no matter what time I went or whose class I took, it was a great workout and a good experience. But what kept me coming back--and then joining as a member--was the attitude of Rock and all the instructors. No one here is going to yell at you. You're given options to make things challenging or more simplified, and everything can be modified for whatever physical situation you walk in with. My husband and I have been going here for over 2 years and we love the community vibe and how personal the coaches/trainers are with everyone in the class. The workout classes are well curated and they make sure to rotate so we are always working on different muscles. You can sign up for regular class workouts of 8-10 ppl or individual sessions. I really enjoy coming here because they give you enough room to push yourself at your own pace while making sure you have the right techniques and posture. You get what you put in, everyone may be at different physical level, and that's ok, you can increase/decrease the intensity of the workout as you like.

I’ve been going to Char for the past few weeks and have had a fantastic experience. A few years ago I had been frequently going to HIIT classes at different locations, but was nervous to get back into it after dealing with lower back issues for the past year. After only a few weeks going to Char, I am feeling significantly better, healthier and more like my old self.

Rock has been great with coaching proper technique and offering modifications to anyone dealing with injuries. The workouts have had good variety and are both challenging and fun.

I am so glad I found Char Fitness! Rock and the team are excellent - they're welcoming, motivating, and the classes are full of energy. The best part is the team's focus on form and safety - the coaches will work with you 1:1 to make sure you're safe, effective, and getting a great workout. I can't say enough about Char. A good friend referred me, and I'm glad he did. I've been recovering from shoulder surgery and have had a bad back for years. With just a few personal training sessions with Rock, the owner, I am already on the road to recovery and am feeling stronger every day. Never have I been to a gym that feels more like a community than this place. It's not just a place to go and sweat. It's super clean and has a great vibe. The people who go are super motivating and make you feel like you are a part of something bigger than just a gym. As for Rock he really focuses on form, and I can attest it makes a tremendous difference. I've been to a few personal trainers in the area, and while they were all good people, Rock really is the best. Most of all, he's an excellent dude. You really need to give this place a try. It's like nowhere you have ever been before. I promise you will love it.

Awesome gym ! I recently participated in the HIIT Strength class with Maya at 9a taught on Fridays. Upon arrival I was greeted by Rock, temperature taken, then directed to my assigned area for the workout. The workout was pretty intense! Using my Apple Watch I measured that I was burning about 10-15 calories a minute which is great, especially considering I was doing pretty close to the minimum amount of required reps per exercise. Rock and Maya assisted me in my form (wish they hadn’t because it increased the intensity ten fold lol) and they were always available for any other needs but focused on form to prevent injuries and target the proper muscle groups. At the end of the workout I could definitely say I was beat, it was a great mix of strength training as well as cardio as my heart rate stayed around 140bpm (captured via Apple Watch). We ended with stretches and pain. A lot of measures were taken to safe workout environment, after each session the floor and equipment are cleaned with disinfectant and participants are encouraged to wash their hands at the sink with antibacterial soap. The gym is really cool, I like the dark colors and gritty atmosphere because it sets the mood for hard work(if rocky was staging another comeback he could do it here)! If you want to get in shape or earn your weekend I think this is an awesome place to do it !

I don’t usually write reviews but Char Fitness is the absolute BEST. I recently moved to the area and tried a few classes, but Char was the perfect find. It’s also by far the best HIIT class I have had in years. After COVID, it’s also hard to find a gym that you feel comfortable going to. It’s extremely safe, clean and takes more measures than any other gyms I have seen. Not to mention Rock is an amazing trainer! He takes the time to spend time with all clients with a close eye on their ‘form’ and offers a great mix of classes! 5++++ stars!

I had been a member of this gym pre COVID. When they reopened I tried the one week free trial (highly recommend) to see how COVID protocols were being handled and how the gym functioned.
I couldn’t have been more impressed with the safety protocols put in place. Not
Only do I feel totally safe, but the quality of the workouts didn’t suffer. I am in my mid 50’s and want to undue a year of COVID sedentary life. This gym is completely judgment free in both staff and clients. The classes at CHAR are great! The strength and HIIT workouts have improved in my strength and endurance. Rock and the other coaches are motivating and make it fun to workout! Workouts can always be adjusted for different fitness abilities. It is very clean and I feel safe to workout since they follow Covid-19 protocol.

By far the best gym I’ve been to. The coaches are wonderful and super welcoming. The workouts are definitely high intensity, you leave there knowing you got in a really great workout. It’s a very comfortable atmosphere where I feel I can scale the workouts to my abilities but you still want to push yourself! I find myself wanting to go and not even having to really push myself to get there like I did with other gyms.

Char Fitness is simply top notch. Great gym with an exceptional staff. I've always been part of a gym in the past, but Char is next level. The workouts here are extremely curated and you can tell that a lot of thought goes into each workout and movement.The workouts always have adjustability and fit every level, from beginner to advanced. Workouts here are always changing up and it's always fun and engaging.
Rock & Sam are some of the best coaches around point blank. They pay attention and take close care to your form and pace. They constantly help monitor your progress and continuously push you to keep performing better.
Cleanliness of this gym is also first class. After each workout there is ALWAYS a 15 minute deep clean of everything touched. The team here has put a lot of thought into flow of the gym as well as cleanliness; especially during these covid times. The floor has personal boxes & spaces marked out for social distancing. The weights and equipment are placed so that flow around the gym is always maintained. The sink, soap dispenser, and hand sanitizer stations are all touchless. There is also an industrial sized exhaust fan installed that helps maintain fresh air into the building which is highly appreciated. Upon coming into the gym your temperature is taken and a questionnaire is up to ensure no one may spread anything.
All of the classes are scheduled via an online app to ensure no overages and to maintain class size. There are also a very good amount of classes throughout the day to ensure it can fit in your schedule.

This is simply how workouts should be. I highly recommend Char fitness. 11/10

CHAR is not your typical gym, it literally is a welcoming community where you have fun and build relationships! You have amazing coaches that help you when needed and motivate you even when you don’t have the motivation to push yourself. Rock, Johanna and Sam are all amazing, warm and welcoming. They are very professional and are people you can trust. I know for a fact they will never let me or anyone down. With this pandemic going on, it's hard to find weights to use but no need to worry - the coaches still find a way to make sure you feel sore when you leave (in a good way of course).

In case you are curious about the Sanitizing and Cleaning Procedures -
- Upon check-in, coaches check temperature and go through a checklist with you
- Coaches make sure everyone is wearing a mask and remains in their designated workout area (very spacious)
- The coaches dedicate about 15 mins after every workout to reclean the floors (I literally witness it every time I go)
- After every workout, we are responsible to clean our equipment with wipes but then leave it in our box. The coaches will then re-wipe the equipment and bring it back to the racks
- There are automatic soap dispensers and faucets
- There is a huge exhaust fan and (2) regular fans to help with air flow

Char opening is probably the best thing that has happened in 2021 so far! Looking forward to a great year with this family!
