If you like watching the game show network, home shopping network and the Ocho and listening to bad night club music this gym is for you!
Put on real sports or news and play better music!
this place is awful.

11-24-25...So here is an update..still love the gym but there are couple of improvements needed: its great they now have soap holders in the showers but they need to clean the showers daily. I found the same disgusting ball of hair on the floor in the same stall the next day. All the shower stalls were not clean the next morning..Secondly, its annoying that you have to start up the sauna yourself after your workout in the morning. Especially since you are trying to use the sauna and get to work on time...
Please clean showers at the end of day so its clean in the morning and start up the sauna as soon as gym opens!
Jan 2024:Good gym but I'm giving it 3 stars because you don't get to enjoy the hydromassage room because you are next to windows with no shade and people stare at you through the glass window as they walk by.. You have no privacy! All it takes is putting up a simple shade but the gym refuses to do so. THE sun must be glaring in the summer! I wish they would take a look at the hydromassage room at planet fitness nearby..it is so relaxing after your workout. The atmosphere is spa like
2-3-24: So one week later I changed the review from 3 star to 4 star because right away they put up curtains and now there is privacy. Excellent!. I really appreciate the quick response. It shows that the gym management cares! I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the curtains should have been floor length to keep out the bright sun completely. The room is still too bright for relaxation. Hopefully, management will install floor length curtains in the hydromassage room.

The overall fitness area/center is great… love it!! Staff is amazing….BUT..
I AM TIRED OF WALKING INTO THE BASKETBALL COURT AREA AND SEEING THE NET TORN UP. We and Many other members play and use that court 3 to 4 days a week. And Management can’t keep a net attached to the rim properly on a consistent basis? All the money the franchise put into upgrading the overall fitness center was great, but you can’t show a little TLC to the basketball area????Very sad and disturbing. If you plan to open up a membership, understand the basketball court will frustrate you. Just being honest.

Love this gym. Even under construction it operates efficiently.
Updated 9/3/25 I originally was happy with the gym but everyone internally has left - that doesn’t look good for any establishment when the turnover is high. Slowly getting discouraged will be pricing out alternatives
Sorry crunch, you’ll make up for the loss elsewhere I’m sure

overall not a terrible gym for the affordability. Actual equipment is decent, not terribly high end but most of it works. Biggest issues i’ve seen with equipment are the wires for the weight pegs being snapped but no big deal.
My main issue equipment wise is the bench situation, it’s impossible to get one most the time. They have some perma upright seated ones and flat ones, honestly they’re mostly empty as everyone’s waiting for the adjustable ones. I’d say get rid of the others and get all adjustable ones.
There are only two other big issues i’ve seen, one being the women’s locker room and two being the wifi.
The wifi frankly sucks and is constantly bugging and dropping, which is unfortunate as i barely get LTE in the gym.
The women’s locker room is the biggest downside, although i don’t smell anything bad as others have said, there are other issues. One being the amount of broken lockers, they just don’t shut properly anymore. The second is the cleanliness or lack thereof, it constantly feels a little bit gross. The toilets are also constantly dirty, filled with toilet paper, or without toilet paper at all.
Overall not a bad choice, solid gym and meets all the needs, just falls short in some places.

I’ve been going to many gyms since I started exercising as a teenager. Worked at the YMCA in basking ridge. Went to the YMCA in Randolph for a long time, loved those places. Lifetime fitness is Incredible if you can afford it. Nitro flex in Chester is a great gym for the convenience and location. Then I moved to Colorado, trained at elite facilities like arm burst where many professional bodybuilders train. I belonged to vasa which is the best gym I’ve been a part of. After returning to New Jersey and joining crunch i saw some of the most poor maintained equipment, unfriendly staff and absolutely disgusting locker rooms than I had ever seen in my life. So I will not be going back to this location.

When I joined this gym, they didn’t clearly explain everything about the membership. For example, they have an activity room and other group sessions that take up most of the space, leaving no dedicated area for simple stretching or free workouts. The personal training room is understandably reserved, but when I asked a trainer—who seemed more interested in chatting and gossiping than actually training—if I could stretch there, she said yes. However, she then sent her client to report me to the front desk, which was unnecessary and unprofessional. May be because of some psychological issues
The manager came over and told me the room was for personal training only. I explained that I had asked for permission first and was told it was fine. I also pointed out that there was no other space available due to ongoing group activities. Instead of offering a solution, she just kept repeating that she'd “let it go this time” and suggested I adjust my workout according to their schedule—something that was never shared with me when I joined.
I wasn’t disturbing anyone, and I made sure to ask before entering the space. Unfortunately, the staff here are neither helpful nor supportive. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this gym to anyone. I’ve canceled my membership today and will be sharing my experience elsewhere as well. I joined gym without checking reviews on internet and I came to face this situation, hope this review helps

I have been a member at this gym since 2020. I preferred the Golds atmosphere. However, when you’re forced to change, you must try to adapt. Crunch quickly rebranded and announced upcoming renovations. Initially, I thought the renovations were going to be a great change, as the locker rooms have mold on the walls, water marks on the ceiling tiles, a general foul odor…. As well as a lot of gym equipment that could use some upkeep or replacing. Soon after renovations began, I realized this specific Crunch Fitness franchise does not care about necessary changes. Rather than fix problems that are detrimental to the public’s health, their first step was to remove the women’s fitness room, a place where women could feel safe and not get cat called, criticized, or oogled.
In the first quarter of 2024 through the beginning of 2025, the women’s locker room kept getting increasingly worse and worse smelling. I notified management several times as it had a significant impact on my breathing.
Finally, it was relayed to me that the septic need to a part fixed. After months and months of a terrible smell that I can only compare to saying it smelled like someone worked out in the same clothes for an entire week, then tried to flush them down the toilets, and subsequently then put them in the air vents.
Regardless after SEVERAL months/bordering on a year of this terrible smell, it was somewhat addressed.
It’s unclear if Annie was assigned her position due to her bubbly nature or if she’s actually qualified in marketing. However, Annie came in and changed the whole class schedule for the WORSE. Regular class attendees were not consulted on any of the changes prior to implementation.
I would say reach out to the general manger Kelley with any concerns. However, she might be the worst of the loot. She refuses to address concerns. Instead, she gaslights you into thinking it’s someone else’s problem. I don’t really understand who reports to her since she continually passes any problems off to the next person.
A gym goer formerly posted a very blunt and honest 1 star review. I find it interesting that they have since deleted their review and posted a new one with 5 stars and a ‘rave’ review.
The gym has been known to stack their reviews to make things seem not as bad as they really are. It would appear, despite management change, they’re back to the old practices.

I mean the LA fitness in Randolph has nicer locker rooms and bathrooms, but it is a drive for me so I got the free trial for crunch despite the reviews. Granted I don’t go into the women’s bathroom so maybe the smell I keep hearing about is a problem🤷🏻♂️ but the gym itself served its purpose.

This gym engages in illegal business practices, most notably; they are currently in violation of New Jersey law which requires gyms which provide a method of on-line sign up to also provide a clear and conspicuous way for members to initiate the cancellation process on-line.

I've been to quite a few crunch fitness locations. This one is on the smaller size(main gym floor area anyway) but has quite a bit of extras I haven't seen at other locations. They have a basketball court, saunas, multiple rooms for classes/private workouts. It's always very clean and the music volume kept pretty reasonable. Decent amount of free weights/bumper plates. Dumbbells up to 150lb, which is awesome. Staff is always very sweet and responsive. Zero issues!!! See you there!!

I'm a new member thanks partly to Dena's salesmanship. Her follow up plus the Crunch website sealed the deal. But it's disappointing after just two weeks having had a closer look, that the bathroom, locker room and showers look really gross, Nothing looks like it's been disinfected in a long time. I talked to someone at the front desk so I hope this changes.

Separate room for spinners, separate room for basketball. Of course it has all the machines a sauna and massage chairs. I love it!! 10 Stars!!

Hear me out. I know gyms aren’t the best smelling places, and I expect that. But the girls locker room is next level. I know other people have noticed it, it’s not BO it smells like sewage. Like the toilets are quite literally back flowing into the drains or something. When it’s brought to the attention of the manager she just brushes it off going no people just smell, as if we don’t know the difference between arm pit and actual crap. Do better 👏🏼

I found out that Medicare offers the Silver Sneakers program. Two locations were offered nearby. I went to Crunch first. Matt at the front desk was positive, enthusiastic, and extremely welcoming. On the basis of Matt alone I chose to sign up for Crunch. I have since gotten to know most of the staff who handles the front desk. They are all top notch.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The gym is updated with all new or reconditioned equipment. I want to give a special shoutout to Matt. Recently, while using the elliptical machine I accidentally drop an earbud inside the machine. I asked Matt for help. He grabbed his bag of tricks, took off the side cover and retrieved my earbuds. Great job Matt! If his boss is reading this he deserves a raise!

I love this gym. The staff members are great! Everybody is friendly and helpful. They even know me by name. I am greeted on arrival and acknowledged as I leave. I see Matt and the staff on the floor checking on things. The facility is impeccably clean, much improved over previous owner. I love the recent repositioning of machines. They are perfect for the flow of my workout.

I have been coming to Crunch in Hackettstown since they first opened. Plenty of equipment and machines to go around, modern, clean and an overall very nice atmosphere. I have also been taking their fitness classes that are included with the Peak Results membership, and let me just say, I have never been so motivated to continue working out each day! Stacy is one of the fitness instructors and I look forward to taking her classes multiple times a week! Not only do I get a great workout in, but the energy of everybody in class pushes you to keep going. Going to the gym was always a difficult thing for me to do in the past as I couldn't find the motivation, but I just wanted to take the time to show some appreciation and say thank you so much to Stacy and the other instructors at Crunch for creating such a welcoming community and pushing us to reach our max potential. Definitely recommend Crunch if you are in Hackettstown or the surrounding area, you will be so glad you signed up!

I've tried a few gyms in the area:
* Riverside (cramped)
* Planet Fitness (rows & rows of cardio, no free weights & dumbbells only up to 75lbs)
* Retro - see me separate review - a bunch of members moved to Crunch.
Crunch has a huge space, friendly staff, dumbbells up to 150, they are upgrading and renovating so its gonna be great. +basketball court, sauna, hydromassage, tanning, juice bar etc... Good prices, all the equipment I need. I've never had to wait for something. What more could I want?
