I like this gym. The people who teach the classes are always nice and happy with their work.

I would suggest not going around 2-4 pm, there are a lot of high school kids that come in and make a mess of the place.

I would suggest that the gym to clean the women's sauna and maybe have a sign saying no electronics ie. phones etc

Overall staff are nice and it's a positive environment.

You guys need to find a solution to this problem. We can’t waste time, gas, money, and other resources by driving for 20 minutes or more to get to the gym, which is close when it’s supposed to be open. Can you please send messages to the gym members to inform them that the gym is close or update it on the map ? It’s disappointing that this has happened more than twice already.

I've started coming to this gym when I moved into the area at the summer; I used to go mainly to Planet Fitness. But not only is this gyn an upgrade from Planet Fitness in every way possible, it is definitely an excellent gym to improve in every way. Lots of free weights and stations for deadlifts and bench presses. A good amount of space with enough machines to get a great variety done. Love the variety of equipment, from the many different leg machines to even having a a machine that is much better than lateral raises. HIIT zone is definitely good for more free form workouts. I have definitely improved my strength and physique since coming here and I see myself improving even more.

The Sauna at This Gym Desperately Needs Better Regulation and Cleaning

The use of the sauna in this gym is completely unregulated. There’s no visible information or guidance on how to use it properly. Most users, who are young and clearly unaware of basic sauna safety, walk in wearing their gym clothes, sneakers, and even electronic devices such as phones, headphones, and smartwatches — all of which can easily overheat and, in extreme cases, explode.

On more than one occasion, I’ve personally witnessed people inside the sauna receiving overheating warnings on their phones, yet they continue to stay inside as if nothing happened. This is not only unsafe but irresponsible on the gym’s part for allowing it to continue.

The sauna should be a clean, sacred space for the body to release toxins — not a risky environment filled with electronics and sweat-soaked clothes.

In addition, the hygiene standards are extremely poor. The wooden benches are dark and dirty, often emitting unpleasant odors, and it’s obvious they haven’t been properly cleaned in a long time. I

For the safety and well-being of all members, this gym urgently needs to enforce sauna regulations and drastically improve its cleaning and maintenance routines. Cleanliness and safety should be the foundation of any health facility — this one is clearly falling short.

I am a founding member of the gym. Last month, it opened late twice, and this month it has already happened three times. Many of my fellow members waited for a long time and eventually left, while others waiting outside were upset. Since this has been happening once or twice a week, I kindly suggest hiring an additional employee to ensure the gym can be opened on time if one staff member is unavailable.

The gym itself is nice enough and spacious, but that means nothing if they can’t be open on time at 5 am, which due to my job, is the only time I can be at a gym.

The doors have frequently been closed when they advertise that they are open. When you write to the manager, you get a “we are sorry, but emergencies happen” message. I guess they are having a lot of emergencies?! I am moving on to Blink if this keeps happening, which is not as nice, but at least is open when they say they are.

I’ve been coming to this gym since 2024. When I first started coming, it was a great gym to come to for my workouts. However, the opening staff has not shown up on time to open the gym at 5am when it is advertised they open at this time during the week. For people like myself who schedule their workouts around their work schedule, it is inconsiderate & unprofessional to not open the gym on time. This has been an ongoing problem for the past month.

Today once again, it was someone in my family who goes 5 times a week at 5am and as usual no one came to open the gym, he waited until 6:20am and still no one had arrived, this is usual, he is very happy with the gym but that is the time he can go before going to work, I don't know what is going on but the morning staff is absolutely irresponsible.I'm going to give 1 star to whoever it is who never arrives on time, but 5 to the gym and other employees.

I come in at 5 AM when the schedule says they’re supposed to open, but twice now no staff has shown up to actually unlock the doors. They stole money from my credit card. First I cancelled my membership. They didn’t cancel it. Then I put my membership on hold and switched my card information to my debit card. I am a British Citizen visiting family in Springfield, NJ from Saturday 23 August to Saturday 06 September 2025.

The last time I came to Springfield, the current Crunch Fitness was a NYSC. I was able to join for a 2 week period to work out and train while visiting. I came to Crunch Fitness on 24 August with my nephew and was told there were no weekly memberships. I was informed of the promos that were running, one month free, only pay $10.66 and I could cancel after two weeks. I decided to join with the ‘Peak’ membership.
I noticed that I was billed $44.64 on 01 September. I then went in on 04 of September, asked to cancel my membership in person and was told that I would be billed again on 01 October as I didn’t cancel within 30 days (Today is 04 September). I return to London this Saturday 06 September. I was mislead to believe that I could join with the first month ‘free’, could go for the two weeks I was visiting, and then cancel.

In actuality, I am now paying $10.66, $44.64 for September, and another $44.64 for October. I won’t even be in the Country from 06 September, yet I am paying for 7 weeks of gym membership where I won’t be in the same country.

Crunch Fitness pulled a bait & switch on me and I will be reviewing open and honestly wherever possible. I want to make current and potential members aware of the money making tactics Crunch Fitness uses.

This is the most despicable and disgusting business approach I have seen in either the US or UK. I hope if family or friends of Crunch Fitness come across a similar situation in their lives, that the Crunch employee would treat their family and friends the way I was treated, like scam artists.

I experienced this after spending 4 hours at volunteering at Table of Hope in Morristown NJ today.

I was asked to go back to the gym to sign the cancellation form.

Buyer Beware! I would look at alternative fitness and gym options in the area. I go to Pure Gym in the UK, 24 hours, 7 days a week and the customer and membership services are excellent. I am sure there are comparable gyms in the area and in NJ, but based on my experience, it’s definitely NOT Crunch fitness.

This is not for this specific location but Crunch in general. I had a membership in Georgia. Cancelled at the gym bc I was moving out of town in May. Now they’re trying to charge me $85. I told them I’d like to rejoin but I’m not paying for the months I didn’t use. They told me I can’t cancel or switch my gym till I pay the balance and they’re going to keep trying to charge me. I wanted to go back to crunch but I guess I can never use them again.

I've been with this location since they started and I have to say that since I started training with Carmen, it's been the best experience. All the trainers I had before were very knowledgeable and good to work with (especially if you're looking to get really pumped up) but this woman tops it for my needs. After dealing with multiple medical issues and RC tears, coming back to a trainer that has All my areas covered has been a blessing. Because of the game plan that she has tailored for my lifestyle, I've been getting the best results in my mobility, endurance and improved performance in my other workouts. Excellent communication, strategizing and great customer service. I'm thankful that Kim, the manager, paired me up with Carmen.
Regarding the gym, I've read the mixed reviews and honestly, in all gyms it's going to depend on the time of day and year that you go, crowds are often expected. The big deal for me is cleanliness, they keep a pretty decent atmosphere considering how popular they are. The bathrooms, locker room and sauna have always been up to par when I go. The staff I've dealt with have always been polite and courteous as well.

I have been a member of this gym since it opened. There have been an inlfux of new members, making the gym overcrowded since NBD Fitness closed. Having said that, I generally use the gym for the classes only. I have brought to the attention of management the lack of exercise mats available in the fitness room, which is necessary to take the classes. This morning I was advised by the general manager of the gym this was brought to the attention of the owner and manager of the exercise classes and they do not intend to do anything about it. How can a gym offer an exercise class and fail to provide the proper equipment to the participants? This is not an expensive piece of equipment and if they don't want to buy more mats, they can have a staff member collect them from throughout the gym before the classes start to ensure the participants have what they need in the class. They offer a bar class but there are only 12 spots in the class. There is more demand for this class and all they need to do is purchase a few more bars to accommodate their clients. They raised their rates and provide inferior service to their clients. I guess the moral of the story is you get what you pay for -- an overcrowded gym with poorly managed exercise classes.

Imagine walking into the gym after the weekend only to hear the front desk workers talking bad(can’t use bad words) about you the second they see you. The guy (John) looks at me and then back to the girl and whispers to her this is the guy, then she peeks over to look at me. And this is all because I like to use the hand sanitizer they have at the front desk. The ones on the walls are just soap no alcohol in them. But yeah, I guess it’s a problem where they felt the need to whisper right in front of me. It’s not very professional and all it did was piss me off. Just wanted to vent =)

I like the gym overall, but you can tell they put profit over comfort. I go everyday after work and there is always a class booked for all the common areas, there is nowhere you can lay a mat to do your own thing and if they see you in a corner they will tell you you can't be there. There is no space since they keep signing on new members and we don't even fit there anymore.
Also the hors for Crunch overall are horrible. They close very early on the weekends. It's just starting to feel like Planet Fitness.

This gym is nasty. If it’s nice outside, expect the gym to be hot and humid with no air circulation. I think all the workers are anemic. If it’s cold outside even just a little, they will not hesitate to turn the heat on. There are also waaay too many kids and it gets real packed. They sit on the equipment staring at their phones instead of working out. I don’t get it, if you’re gonna stare at your phone stay home. This gym likes to have things like join for $1, it’s already packed enough. You have to wait in lines for equipment because people are doom scrolling TikTok and instagram, and it’s hot all the time. The only effort that’s put in is the person who responds to all the 1 star reviews, they respond but they never fix the issue.

This manager is completely impolite. My sixteen-year-old daughter has her own membership. Recently, we wanted to bring a friend who is younger than eighteen. According to the guest policy, members are allowed to bring guests between the ages of 14 and 17. There is no requirement that the visitor be at least eighteen. I asked for the manager because the person there didn't seem to know what he was talking about. Naturally, you would think that a manager would be better able to resolve an issue than an employee. She made things worse rather than better. She isn't assisting at all and treated me in such a disrespectful manner. This place obviously does not know how to set rules properly, so instead of providing a membership to a child and having issues with it, GIVE IT TO AN 18+. Up until now, I've never experienced an issue, and it's annoying. If you want to run into issues like this, I do not advise obtaining a membership for a kid. absurd. im pretty sure and the manger name was ashley.

I bought a crunch membership when I got back from college around May/june 2024. I spoke with a manager at crunch Springfield saying I needed a membership for the summer for I was returning to school and no longer needed one during the school year. I said I wanted to be able to bring guests and access all gyms. He took me to the office and explained that the membership he signed me up for has the following terms: can visit any gym, unlimited guests, and cancel any time. I made sure to double check that I can cancel any time because I leave for college and the man said I could. I asked him again “so if I come back in August to cancel my membership, it will be canceled for September right” and the man said yes. I went into the gym in August to cancel my membership and the same manager told me that I signed a contract where I was not able to cancel my membership. I was flabbergasted because he was the SAME GUY who told me I was able to cancel the membership when I left for college. I returned to the same crunch location 3 or 4 more times trying to cancel my membership but I was turned down every time. I should have read the contract I was signed but I did not think that a manger at crunch Springfield would LIE to a customer and wrap them into a year membership. . I ended up being able to freeze my membership for 3 months but the changes have started again. I was wondering if there was cameras that could pull up our conversation in the office or anything that can prove I was tricked into a year long membership by a lying, incompetent, and disrespectful manger who has shown me nothing but disrespect since I have brought up this issue. This has been a months long battle but this has severely impacted my opinion on Crunch gyms due to this one particular manager. Thank you for your time

EDIT: Contacted Pam via. email (staff told me to do so). She said she would get back to be sooner rather than later. It has been three weeks. She will not respond to any follow up emails. I am still being charged a membership while waiting for crunch Springfield to respond. This gym has been a complete scam.

Overall, the trainers and other staff members have been energetic and helpful. My issue has been with the SCAM that is the management in charge of training. In September, I signed up for 3 months of training, 36 sessions for $1, 020. I paid in September and then a charge came up again in October and I thought it was a mistake. When it charged again in November I knew we had a problem. It was apparently a recurring $1,020 per month for the honor of of completing my sessions! Although, they don’t expire either way so it does not make sense. By the time I could speak with someone about canceling the training, I was told I would be charged again for December because it was past the 30 days before cancelation policy. I spoke with Kim and she had absolutely no power to do anything to help even though she is the training manager. Upon my insistence, she referred me to a regional manager named Pam. She would not give me Pam’s number so I had to try email. It has now been 4 days and nobody has gotten back to me. So unprofessional. I am not asking for a refund of the October or November payments. I am willing to take that as my fault for misunderstanding. I am, however, trying to stop being charged yet again in December. It was NEVER my intention to spend over $4,000 for training! Good faith business practices dictate that they could extend some courtesy here and at the very least provide better communication! In the midst of all this, because of terrible turnover, I am now being told I have to be reassigned to my THIRD trainer!! I started my training with Shelby and she was wonderful! Last week she moved on to a different job. She set me up with a motivating and fun trainer named Dante and today I find out now that he no longer works there! What are the odds they will place me with a third trainer with whom I feel comfortable! I want this whole thing to be canceled and my remaining sessions refunded (or applied to my membership), but that is hard to negotiate when nobody will answer my emails or give me a phone to call!

Several months after the grand opening, Crunch is still looking like new, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Free weights and hammer strength machines are on the lower floor, and cardio and a functional training zone is on the first floor. Love it, it's great to have a real gym back in downtown Springfield. I've yet to try out the massage chairs or red light therapy, but it's nice to have the option there.

I was warned by my coworkers not to join this gym but I did not listen and every single thing they said is true. The training manager is so tacky that instead of providing professional answers or answering emails sent to her she would rather go through the place screaming to hang up on customers because she is not intelligent enough to answer questions. i’m already a crunch member at two different locations & decided to try this one out for a new environment. what attracted me mostly, was the crowd & distance. however, there are too many young adults/teenagers at this location. there is also not enough equipment & the lighting is very poor in the basement.

i have been to a real signature Crunch in Hoboken & this is no signature location. besides having a sauna, i don’t understand why this location is considered “signature”Verona also has a sauna & is not considered signature. there were no towels provided, steam room or any of that sort, to my understanding that’s what makes a specific Crunch “signature” . so why should i have to pay an additional $15 when i’m already paying the highest amount.

I was quite disappointed to find that Crunch Fitness in Springfield, NJ, closed at 9 PM on Friday, July 19th, instead of the advertised 10 PM. This caused a lot of inconvenience as I had planned my workout around the later closing time. It's important for gyms to adhere to their posted hours or at least inform members of any changes in advance.

I am currently making plans for my workout routine after returning from my holiday. However, I noticed some changes that can affect my ability to keep a consistent schedule. I went to the gym's front desk and asked what information they used to decide on schedule changes. I was informed that class attendance is the main factor used. When I asked if members were asked about their preferences, I was told that they are considered but attendance is the top priority. I mentioned that the new schedule wasn't going to work for me and I may need to go to a different gym. However, I was told that it didn't matter where I went because the other gym is a "sister" gym, and they benefit either way. This response was not the best customer service experience. I am curious to know if this is the norm at Crunch. My experience with the front desk staff has been mediocre at best. While I understand that finding good help is difficult, I believe it is possible to hire people that think before they speak and refer members to someone with better customer service skills. It is a shame because the instructors are great, and the location is convenient, but the people representing the gym are lacking. I did not appreciate being brushed off and unheard. I did not expect this conversation to change the upcoming schedule times, but I hoped for some direction.

So, I would really like to say that major improvements have been made but it seems like Springfield Crunch is happy with just being an ok gym.

The weight training floor is so crowded to the point of a potential fire code violation. I cant walk without hitting someones shoulder. I joined this gym few months back. I love the layout of the gym. However it needs some improvements.

- Issues with the ventilation system? This gym is always hot. Concerning the fact this place is always crowded and the ventilation system is not running at full capacity specially downstairs. Definitely a health concern.

- Gym policy needs to be enforced. A lot of times people are not following simple gym etiquette. Also the managers and staff need to take their job seriously. Looks like a lot of people not following the rules are friends with the staff hence polices are not pushed.

Lastly, people at the front need to be more welcoming. Several times I entered the facility and say hi and all i get is a stare.

I’ve been working with Coach Ro as my personal trainer since I had a back injury in November. He helped me get back on my feet and as well as training for my upcoming season as wildland firefighter. He tailored our sessions to what I needed by identifying points where I was weak and explains how the exercises are going to benefit me in the long run. Ro is very knowledgable, and if he doesn’t know the answer to a specific problem you’re having he will research it himself and develop a plan for you. I’ve noticed that I am back to being in great shape as well as a lot of my physical problems that I had been experiencing are now either diminished or entirely gone. I highly suggest working with Coach Ro if you’re new to working out AND if you’re experienced and are looking to add more depth to your current workout regimen.

Additionally, the staff here is great. The facilities are great. And the pricing is the best that I could find in the area for a FULLY equipped gym. I found myself either looking at paying less for a minimal amount of equipment or way over for a standard amount.

Be warned that there are criminals who go to this gym and steal your stuff when you’re not looking. My north face jacket got stolen at this gym and the manager, Carlos, was very rude and treated me with complete disregard.

When I asked for help, he kept telling me “oh it’s at your own risk we’re not liable.” He kept trying to point the finger at me when I never said the gym was liable but that I wanted to find the criminal who took my jacket from the locker room with the gym’s help. He demonstrated laziness and when I asked to look at cameras he kept telling me “oh well we can’t do much” while when I spoke to another manager, Felix, he told me he would look into it for me and was very nice about it.

It’s funny because I think I met him when he first started there and he was so nice when the other managers were looking but treated me with disregard when I was alone with him. I’m not sure if they actually looked into it and watched the camera footage as I had to contact them multiple times to check if they had.

At the end they said they didnt find anyone and couldn’t show me the cameras at my request. I will soon be filing a police report and cancelling my membership due to the lack of professionalism and the unwillingness to catch a person who is committing crimes at the gym. Why even have cameras if you don’t care about theft or your member’s wellbeing? Don’t bother going here, find a gym who actually cares about your safety, your wellbeing and the belongings you got with your hard-earned money.
