Empyrea is hands down one of the best gyms I’ve ever been a part of! The trainers — Carl and Malcome — are beyond amazing. They genuinely care about helping you reach your personal fitness goals and go the extra mile to keep you motivated. I love that they also offer monthly nutrition check-ins to make sure we’re staying on track — it’s such a thoughtful and effective approach.
One huge improvement I’ve seen since I started in November 2024 is my sleeping habits. I used to rely on sleeping aids just to get 6–8 hours of rest, and now — for the past three months — I haven’t needed anything. My body and mind feel so much more in sync thanks to the consistency and support here.

I am a mother of 3, now all adults; worked as an ED nurse the past 30 years, retired 4 years ago.
My wellness journey started when my son Carl Anthony was still at school studying Exercise Physiology. First experienced 1:1 stretching and learning relaxation techniques. Thought he was going to break me, but actually felt good the following day. He became my “go ask Carl” for aches & pains, limited ROM. He would worked on strengthening my wrists, shoulders and correcting my posture. Best thing is foam rolling my shoulders, upper back and back of my neck after I came home from work or I’ll grab him on my day off.
He would prepare my lunch bag for work, snacks and bottles of water. Mid day he would call to check how my lunch was and how much water I drank so far.
Birth of Empyrea, I actually started going to the gym. I would come home beat up, but keep going back for more. The enthusiasm of people working out was a big impact, that missing a workout feels like being way back of the line. COVID was a big challenge, but did not close Empyrea. Empyreans kept working out with Carl from afar different households in a big TV screen.

Carl has trained my wife and me for over 5 years. I started going to Empyrea with the goal to learn about working out, nutrition, and the relationship those two elements. Carl delivered! Here at Empyrea, everybody is so kind and supportive. There are many planned events throughout the year that bring the team together such as running 5Ks and an annual BBQ!
The workouts are a variety of 8 different strength or cardio movements that incorporate the full body. I love the intentional rolling exercises, warm ups, and post workout stretches that we do in every class. It helps prevention of injuries and with recovery time and sometimes is the only time that I get to stretch throughout the day.

Great gym! Great culture! I work from home and sit at my desk most of the day. When I first showed up, I could barely do the warm up stretches but Carl’s been such an incredible asset. TLDR: Join Empyrea today!
I've been with Empyrea for a few months now, and I can already see results in both muscle gained and fat lost. Carl (the owner) and Malcolm are both fantastic trainers and always make sure every workout is not only challenging, but also never seeming impossible. I have some physical limitations that make some exercises harder to execute, and they're always ready to provide modifications that make the exercise effective. Before joining Empyrea I was already a regular gym go-er and lifted weights, so I wasn't sure what to expect going into this - but let me tell you these workouts are great for EVERY fitness level and I'm left humbled and worked after every session!
I also need to call out Carl's commitment, attitude and support for all his clients. Through an easy-to-understand individualized monthly fitness plan packed with goals, nutrition pearls, challenges to overcome, etc. that he goes over 1:1 with every client, I can truly see not only Carl's passion for fitness, but also for an holistic approach to health and happiness - GREATLY appreciated!

I have been with Empyrea for a little over a year and it has changed my life. I had an injury mid-year and my recovery was so much smoother having been in the training for the first half of the year. If you’re thinking about joining Empyrea Fitness… DO IT! I have been training there for the past 3 months and it has been such a great experience. Carl is super knowledgeable about all things fitness; from form on exercises to the nutrition piece that is so crucial to success. As someone who has experience training in the gym and in sports, I can confidently say that Carl is the best coach! He’s motivating and fun, but also not too intense where you feel you don’t belong if you can’t do something. His style of workouts is creative, well balanced and easy to stick with. First of all I HATED GYMS. I hated laying on the floor for any reason. I “stumbled”across empyrea and fortunately I reached out to Carl; from the first conversation over the phone I knew something would be different.
One of the reasons gyms fail in their approach is that they don’t prioritize individual needs, at empyrea that was a first! I was pleasantly surprised such that I didn’t mind laying on the floor eventually, lol
Carl is not pushy. At a point I had no idea how much this would cost but I felt at home and I knew this is going to be my place (unusually so)
Empyrea checks all the boxes and in my opinion the work and effort will really not be fully paid for monetarily.
I’m just so glad empyrea exists and Carl is exactly how he is and what people need because he has the real desire to help people.

There’s something about the workouts that makes you want to come back. My partner and I joined last year and even being sore after our first workout, we came back and asked for more! Haha! But seriously, Carl is the greatest fitness coach! He’s patient, motivated, excited, focused and he definitely knows how to teach!! He’s also very knowledgeable of his craft and makes all the routines interesting and fun! The training group is also a great support system! Outside the gym, we join other fitness things (fun runs, bike tour, etc) which makes it inclusive and welcoming! We have an awesome group for sure! We don’t lose or gain instantly but dang, it works! The workouts work!! I also love the nutrition coaching sessions because it covers EVERYTHING about yourself - food, habits, mental health, overall well-being, goals, etc! I’m glad I found my fitness place and I know for sure in every workout I do, I won’t have to do it on my own. Let’s go Empyrea!

What can I say about this place that somebody in the reviews already hasn’t? There’s a reason for all of these raving reviews. Empryrea is more then a gym, it’s a community…a place where everyone knows your name. If your looking to change your habits and lifestyle look no further. Carl exudes positivity day in and day out which is beyond infectious and incredibly motivating. At Empyrea you’ll work with Carl to tailor a program to meet both your physical and mental health goals. Limiting factors, behavior goals, diet and supplements are all tracked monthly so you can truly have a 360 view into your improvements beyond the scale (but seeing the shift in body composition ain’t bad either :) I’ve been here a year and can’t imagine going anywhere else. I love the progress I’ve made and the new friendships I’ve built here even outside of the gym and can thank Carl for that! Look no further Empryrea is theeee spot.

I’ve been going to Empyrea for almost a year now. I truly have been enjoying my time, everyone is super supportive and it’s just overall a fun group to workout with. The trainers, Carl and Enrique, are constantly changing up the workouts and finding new ways to challenge you. One really cool thing that they do is focus on rolling out before the workouts and stretching at the end, which if I’m working out on my own I just rush through it. I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you are looking for a fun new way to work out and reach your goals.

Empyrea is the gym everyone wants to find but doesn’t know exists. It is a place where there is no judgement - only motivation, encouragement, and growth. Like-minded people who are not competitive but realistic with their goals at the same time. Like many first time moms, I just hoped the weight would just magically drop. I spent 2 years slowly expanding and finding myself at my heaviest when I resolved to not just lose weight (as I tried before) but to get healthy and strong. That’s when I found Carl. What he introduced to me wasn’t a fad diet, crazy pills, or a cheap membership to a gym that I would stop going to eventually. What Carl gave me, and gives to all his clients, is perspective. He taught me how to trust my body both on the gym floor and when it comes to redeveloping my relationship with food. And, most importantly, he taught me accountability. He doesn’t judge you like some of those shark-like trainers trying to pick you off at a big box gym. You don’t even have to be in any sort of gym shape to start. all you have to do show up, give your all, and follow his advice. You will not be sorry. This year I was able to run a 5k and he was with me every step of the way. Carl, is a rockstar and he makes me feel like one too.

After two babies I was the most out of shape I had ever been in my life. Heavy, tired and a major lack of confidence is where I found myself one year ago. I knew what I wanted, (support, training, nutrition guidance) and I thought I had to get that from multiple different people and places like a gym, a trainer and a nutritionist. Searching online I came across Empyrea and I reached out to Carl. After our first discussion I was so excited to find a gym and a trainer that is offering both significant guidance while training AND monthly nutrition coaching sessions. it was literally the best of both worlds for a busy mom with a full time job and no clue what to do or how to really get my health journey back on track. After the first week I was hooked on Carl and his process. Every class is a complete full body workout, every warmup includes a foam roll to the front or back of the body. Carl has created a safe space for everyone to come together to learn, train and become as healthy and in shape as you want to be. Every month the nutrition coaching session offers me time to reflect on myself and the decisions I have made and the results those decisions have had on my body. After a year of training with Carl and the other Empyrean’s I am happier, healthier, and stronger both physically and mentally. I am actively working towards reaching my personal health goals and for the first time in my life I feel I have the right tools at my disposal to achieve those goals. This is the best place you can workout at.. Carl and Enrique are so professional. They explain to you everything and the workouts are amazing. I am a beginner but after 2 months i wanna say i feel my body changes, i feel more much strength, energetic and i am very happy with the results. I've been a member of many gyms (including group gyms) in the past and can confidently say that Carl has made Empyrea into a well-oiled machine. First, the most unique thing about the gym is the pairing of nutrition coaching with the physical coaching. When you start with the gym, you will go through your goals, including fitness, nutrition, and mindset. Carl will take your measurements and provide you with tactical "homework" to take your health to the next level. I've been active my whole life and always struggled with sugar cravings, but since I've joined the gym, I've been able to massively curb these. The lifestyle/nutrition changes weren't even that massive for me... it was more of fine-tuning what I've already been doing.
Secondly, the workouts themselves are fun and always changing, which was a big one for me. The format is circuit training, which means that you will work out all parts of your body and feel yourself get stronger with every workout. One thing I've struggled with in the past with group training gyms are injuries due to the focus on speed and quickly switching circuits. At Empyrea, we foam roll before every workout, do a warmup, and end the workout with a mini yoga-style stretching and breathing. Carl and Enrique also put a big focus on form, which ensures that we don't get injured.
Lastly, the vibes at the gym are amazing. Everyone is so friendly and supportive, and the music is great! The schedule is great for people who have to work a 9-5, with times available in the evenings, which work best for my schedule (6pm, 7:30pm), and of course, Saturdays.

This has been my absolute favorite workout class. The workouts are challenging but not so much to the point that I'm burnt out. I love how the trainers provide adjustments to form or if a certain movement doesn't work my body. I’m so happy I joined Empyrea! I’ve been training for almost 2 months and in such a short amount of time I have seen a great improvement in my strength and endurance.
I used to be significantly more active, but with life changes & “pandemic” weight I really needed to get back on track. This was proven more difficult with lower back pain, which was most likely from working remote (sitting most of the day).
Once I began feeling better, I started looking up local gyms and came across Empyrea. From the moment I submitted a request more information, I took note of how professional Carl was. He got right back to me and we chatted on the phone about what my goals were and how Empyrea would help me achieve them. After talking to him, I felt confident and decided to try out a class and I loved it!
What’s also great about Empyrea are the monthly nutrition sessions. Carl is very knowledgeable and looks at the overall wellness rather than focusing on just losing weight. During my last session I already saw a decrease in body fat & an increase in muscle.
Empyrea is a place where the trainers genuinely care about your progress and they meet you where you are at. When you walk in, you don’t just swipe a membership card, you are welcomed by name and something that small automatically makes you feel more comfortable in what can be an overwhelming environment.

I have been going to Emperya for 6 months. I feel so energetic and my body has changed in a short amount of time. I’m so happy I joined. Carl is the BEST trainer ever!!! Working out with Carl is fun and WOW he plans amazing workouts. In my first evaluation, I received multiple measurements and fat%, giving me a starting point from which to improve. He even suggests supplements to reach my goal quicker. He is extremely knowledgeable. Carl takes time to ensure I do the exercise correctly. I can only say that you will only regret why didn’t you find this gem before. Also, the positive atmosphere at the gym is incredible. Everyone is so supportive.

This has been a life changing experience for me. We all know that 2020 was a difficult year for all of us, but for me it was even worse with the loss of my best friend, my mother. I have always been into fitness (I have been an athlete the majority of my life), but it wasn't until joining Empyrea and working with Carl that I really saw what I was capable of physically. I started at Empryea Group Training way back in its pioneer stages. I started to train with Carl because I was very unsatisfied with my body after my first year of teaching. I had no experience with working out or nutrition, so Carl pretty much built me from the ground up. His focus on mind, body, and soul create habits that last a lifetime. Not only did my body improve, but also my stress levels and just overall mentality.
The group training classes are nothing like you are used to. Yes, they follow a circuit-like pattern, but the positivity, individual attention, and group collaboration is unmatched. The class sizes range from about 4-9 people, but you always feel like you have personal attention. Carl focuses on form (not many other places do) so he is constantly moving from person to person adjusting your body to avoid injuries and maximize gains. Carl is constantly pushing you to be your best in and out of the training facility. I never thought I would be as a strong as I am both physically and mentally. Even on the days that I really DO NOT want to workout, I always end up leaving with a smile on my face. Nutrition was something I refused to accept as part of my fitness journey. Carl was able to make nutrition plans that were truly tailored to my lifestyle. Making these nutrition plans manageable, was the key to my success.
I left Empyrea Group Training when I moved to Central Jersey, but now we have be REUNITED with Carl's addition of virtual training. It has saved my life during the quarantine. I was able to find my way back to a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally, even while being trapped in my apartment.
I cannot stress enough how much Carl and Empyrea has changed my life. If you want to start or enhance your fitness journey, no matter where you are in it, Empyrea is the place do it. I promise you will not find anything else like it!

I came seeking help, mentally and physically. That is when I contacted my cousin Carl, Founder of Empyrea. I had come out of a seven year relationship and had completely lost who I was. Anxious, depressed, and very insecure of who I was and what I looked like. I needed a positive constant in my life. I am so thankful for my cousin for showing me that there is a way to find peace in my chaos. Empyrea gave me that peace.
Being an Empyrean will give you the confidence to be the person you were meant to be. This program will show you what a healthy lifestyle should be and how to maintain it. Within three months of starting Empyrea, I had already seen significant changes in my body, strength, and mental health. Being healthy is a lifestyle and this program will show you how to do it properly. It includes nutrition coaching and proper knowledge to safely perform the exercises.
This is a program for all ages and gives clients an ability to be comfortable in a gym setting. The gym can be an intimidating environment because of the people and the equipment. Empyrea is made up of various scheduled times throughout the week, where a small group of clients can work out together and motivate each other to complete the workout and reach their goals.

I happened upon Empyrea after a debilitatingly extra ankle sprain. I spent months barely moving for fear of exacerbating the pain. Thankfully, Empyrea and Carl landed in my lap with a positive, accepting message and willingness to work around my body's limitations. Carl modified workouts so I could still get movement nutrients for my body while respecting my limits. That in and of itself is so important and was sadly lacking in many of my pre-Empyrea gym experiences. A trainer that legitimately cares and pays attention is unfortunately a hard find.

Seven years ago I was 14 months away from my 60th birthday. My dream was to celebrate that milestone by riding all the roller coasters at Walt Disney World. The only problem was that at 355 pounds I couldn’t fit into a roller coaster seat. I realized that in many ways my life had become very limited because of my weight. Over the next 14 months, with a combination of a strict diet and moderate exercise, I was able to lose 200 pounds and spend my birthday exactly as I wished. It was awesome, but what I didn’t realize at the time was that achieving this goal was only the beginning of what would be a much more difficult task. Finding a way to keep the weight off while continuing to build my strength and stamina was a challenge.

I’ve been training at Empyrea for a little over 1 year. The positive influence that it’s had not only on my physical appearance, but mentally has been something of a surprise. I was tired of being tired all the time. I was no stranger to the typical personal trainer and gym membership routine but working with Carl is different and so much better.
At one point or another we’ve likely joined a gym only to lose interest and yet continue to pay for a membership that we don’t use, but “we’ll go back”. Maybe we stopped going because we don’t see results fast enough, we were embarrassed or felt judged, it’s always too crowded and ½ the time is wasted waiting for a machine, we “don’t have time”, or we got bored with the same “routine”. Whatever the reason, that is not the case at Empyrea!
Carl is prepared for every training session with a unique and challenging routine. He works with each client, (all at varying fitness levels), to maximize every training session. He watches during the session and corrects/assists as needed ensuring everyone has proper technique and form to avoid injury. Everyone in the group genuinely wants the others to succeed and often you can hear someone being cheered on. I train three times a week and I enjoy and look forward to the variety and challenges that each session has in store for the group. Dare I say he and the Empyreans make every session fun?!?!
During your monthly 1:1 nutrition coaching Carl takes the time to understand you. He tracks monthly and long-term goals, habits, nutrition, measurement, limiting factors/beliefs, sleep, stress. He teaches you how all these things can play a part in derailing us from or enabling us to reach our goals…all without judgement. He truly wants to empower, educated and enable every client with the knowledge of how to reach their goals and then make it a reality! He walks through proper nutrition and helps with techniques to not only minimize those “limiting beliefs/bad habits” and replace them with productive ones. If you have a bad month, that’s ok, he wants to get to the bottom of it so you can use that knowledge to improve next month.
Carl is focused on helping his clients achieve their goals while being realistic about what it will take to get there. My fitness ability has noticeably increased, I’ve seen improvements in coordination, strength, endurance, lean muscle mass, lower body fat %, stress relief, better sleep and sleep quality. I’m no longer tired all the time! Most importantly I look forward to each session to see friendly faces and just what crazy routine Carl has in store for us!

I have only been training at Empyrea since December, but I can say that working with Carl has been unlike any other program I've tried in the past few years. I have struggled keeping muscle mass in the past, but working with Carl in 3x-a-week group sessions has really improved my muscle tone as well as help me lose body fat. Carl also works 1-on-1 with each client to discuss their nutritional goals which has been so beneficial to me because I'm able to really pinpoint where my own problems nutritionally are. For years I have tried to find a gym that was right for me. I would join one gym and then another and none seemed to fit well. I would watch videos of my friend working out at Empyrea and thought “Wow that looks like an awesome place to try out”. I made the jump and Carl contacted me. He immediately made me feel at ease and invited me to go in for a trial. Well to my surprise I went with the intent of seeing what it was about and to my surprise that night I immediately became an Empyrean.
The atmosphere and workouts were exactly what I was looking for. It’s been over a year and joining this team has been the best investment I’ve made in myself. I’m in the best shape I have ever been in mentally and physically. I am much more active, happier and positive.

Empyrea is simply the best small group workout program I’ve ever experienced. Carl (owner and lead trainer) was born to do this work. He is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and inspiring. Training for a little over a year now. Its been amazing. The camaraderie among the members and trainers are par none. Everyone is super encouraging and from all different aspects. This is very fun and accommodating since everyone is different the exercises can be done regardless ( calisthenics, cardio, diff weight conditions etc). I have a bad rt knee (running/treadmill), and there are times where I cannot and they have changed it to strengthen my knee. The trainers are very sweet, fun and always super knowledgeable in not only the exercises but nutrition. Empyrea is different from other gyms not just in the atmosphere but also the nutrition counseling. This one on one really helps me see the improvement (measurements) and also keep track of what I have been doing to keep the progress or lose it. It keeps me accountable and motivated because even when I have had a bad month, I know exactly where to go. I do not feel defeated. Since coming to Empyrea, I have improved in so many ways.
1. I have anxiety at the gym. I don't like waiting around(figuring out how to change my work out due to machines being taken) and I feel critiqued sometimes about weights etc. This is not the case since the workouts are planned and with all aspects of the body.
2. The classes help physically keep my work outs. I had to keep a journal or write down what I did in case my gym workouts changed. Ex, leg day,/core day or chest/arm day. Since these are HIIT workouts, I no longer need to focus on overworking or under working. Also, the trainers help pinpoint the target areas that I would like to work on. I also spend less time here than at the gym.
3. I have changed my appearance. I used to be more cardio based so I had much less muscle mass. I used to be afraid I would be too bulky if I worked out. That is complete BS. I have gained muscle mass but it is much better. I do not look as thin and I feel so much stronger and healthier than ever. It also helps with forming curves that otherwise too much cardio takes away from.
4. Stretching and foam rolling. Sometimes, rushing into your workout or just trying to get things done made it so I did not focus on the PRE work out (Foam rolling and increase heart rate exercises). This IS such a GAME CHANGER. It helps me not cramp up as much or feel tight when starting the work outs. After work out stretching helps so much with soreness and I feel like I am less injury prone due to these steps.
All in all, it is so unique in the exercises, atmosphere, and nutritional counseling at Empyrea. If feeling positive, stronger, and just overall in great shape, I think this is the right place.

I started working out at a very early age and it quickly became a part of my lifestyle for about 20 years. About 10 years ago I had reconstructive shoulder surgery to repair a torn Labrum and Rotator.
