Since it was a local gym and I thought people would be nice but I was wrong. The front desk person is so reluctant to provide the information. When I asked for the tour of the Gym he said No. None of the Gyms in that area did that. I was so planning to join the gym but because of my experience I was disappointed. I have been in this gym for two years, they don't clean the mirrors, the people who work there are rude and impolite to people who speak Spanish I have seen how they treat them differently and they don't lend them things and make them less I left the gym with my family when I saw this and they don't keep it tidy.

Today at night I went with 2 friends to sign up and we wanted to see the gym facilities but the person who helped us, a guy, was quite rude and did not help us with pleasure or interest. I don't understand how they can have a person like him working in a place like a gym, and that's why they lose potential clients. We also asked him if maybe tomorrow someone could help us in Spanish, but he didn't say that no one helped us in Spanish.

I've been going to this gym since 2014. For me best gym in town, so accessible. never crowded during the hours I go there. Staff, equipment and cleanliness top par. Sauna is a plus. I do miss the daycare. My entire family goes.

I am really disappointed in the way this establishment has not properly inform their members of cancellation protocol. I cancelled my membership back in July 2023 and I came to find out that I am still getting billed a year later. The staff member that helped me a year ago reassured me that my membership will be cancelled but failed to due so. This is extremely unprofessional.

If you’re looking for a death row contract, you’ve found your place. For the same price, join LA. You WILL be charged $100 once a year for “enhancement” fees + $10 if you ever pay late … they make it sound like they’re as easy as a commercial gym but they are inflexible with subpar customer service. I have waited days and weeks for call backs from the membership advisor who signed me up. This is my only negative review in google history and if I could would leave one every day.

I've been at the Fitness Forum in Bayonne for about 7 years. It has all the equipment I need but most importantly the reason for me being there all these years is the people. This gym has high quality machines and a great amount of space. I never have to wait long or at all for any machine and I love that there’s 2 large turf areas. Always get in a good workout here and there’s a good amount of benches to move around to cables and whatnot. Love that I can do hip thrusts on the glute drive, a bench, against a stack of steps, or on the smith machine, which is usually readily available. Definitely recommend this gym!

Forum Fitness in Bayonne cheats people, in my view. My husband canceled his membership by telephone and email in April 2022 and Forum Fitness continued charging his credit card. We disputed the charge for May on the credit card and won the dispute. We also had the credit card block all future charges from "ABC Forum Fitness," and then Forum Fitness put a double charge in July on my credit card under "6068 Forum Fitness." We are going to have to cancel the card and get a new number to stop these unauthorized charges.

Forum is not only a gym, but a community!! There is a difference. The people are what make this gym unparalleled. The amenities are excellent. Sure, there is room for improvement with operating hours, I miss the time it was open for 24 hours and such. More importantly though, the staff treat you like family and help you become the best version of yourself. There is no price you can put on that, in my opinion.

Good gym, I just wish the hours were better. I try to go before work, but being that they're no longer 24 hours during the week makes it rough to squeeze it in before. Pair the 5am open with the fact that the morning guy is never on time. Some days he gets there at 5:05, other days 5:10 but it never fails that there's a line of people waiting to get in.

Gym would be perfect if they opened a little earlier, or went back to 24 hours during the week. Either way, not too expensive, decent machines, clean locker room. Just wish I didn't have to travel all the way out to Belleville when I need to workout earlier than 5am.

It's the best gym in town if you know what you're doing. There's lots of squat racks and enough free weights for everyone. I've been to a few of the corporate gyms and they don't have enough free weights.
Anyone complaining about "cleanliness" must live in an operating room. Forum is as clean as any normal place. If you found dust on top of a wall and think that's going to make you sick, you need to see a psychiatrist.

If I could give this gym a negative rating I would, first they lie to you about what you pay a month, and every month my bill was more than what I signed up for, the machines and weightlifting plates are all out of style and old and chipped and falling apart, they do have a small CrossFit area but only way you can use it is if it's empty, if it's crowded there is no room at all. The machines are from the early 90's and so are the dumbbells. If you try to cancel they will not let you and lie about the availability of managers and the staff. They don't care if your moving, lost your job, or died, they would still bill your card for that $$. Go to the park or join another gym, I go to retro on 20th and Broadway.

Tony at Forum is an absolute gem of a person who works there. The facility is always so clean and this is so incredibly important in this pandemic season. We had a little mix up with our membership and Tony was so kind to resolve everything for us so quickly but most importantly, so professional. Don't sign up. Too many fees and they make it nearly impossible to cancel unless u go in person. Even then they want an appointment and they have to schedule it. I have been a long time member of this gym going back to the nautilus days, always have been treated fairly and with respect. Kathy and Pete and the wonderful staff have kept the equipment up to date and facility clean and orderly. Very rarely write a review but within the last couple of years I had a serious health issue which kept me out of the gym for a good year, came back before the pandemic hit for a month or two before the shutdown hit, during that time the staff and fellow members did all they could to make sure I was safe and comfortable during limited exercise. When the gym opened back up with limited capacity I couldn’t make it back for a variety of reasons, Pete stepped up big time and offered me some equipment to use at home until I am able to come back. There is a reason why I have been associated with Forum for so long, that is just one example, thanks for your commitment to the community and keeping a top notch fitness facility in the neighborhood

I like the owners, who I got to know only after the lockdown. I don't know where they were before. It has actually been someone else playing the role of the owner before lockdown. She still works there. I have to add, she is a very bad person. The only way I dealt with her was to avoid and ignore her. Everything is fine but these one complaint that should be fixed some of the employees are rude like onetime there was a guy working at the desk and when my little brother just wanted to look he talked to him in a mean way that’s not all I’m also disappointed with the fact that I am clearly 15 and I was waiting for my grandmother to finish using the sauna and I was waiting with my brother at the front and some old lady thinks she’s in charge of us and tells us we have to go to the playroom and would not allow us to wait at the front where all the sofas and chairs where and we where forced to wait outside in the hot because I’m 15 and I’m not going to wait in some playroom and those people went to rush my grandmother out of the sauna. I would recommend it but there can be some disrespectful employees please fix your employees thank you.

The mens locker room could use some air fresheners and a cleaning. Sign up around new years for a good special. Also read your dam gym agreement and ask question. I called to ask for prices and they refused to tell me and told me I had to come in person so I drove there. As soon as I came inside the people wanted all my information from my address to my health insurance saying that "they just need to keep track of who comes in" and that I had to get a tour of the gym when all i wanted were prices. I honestly found it very interrogating how they already wanted all that information knowing I didn’t want to see the gym and before I even knew I could even afford it. When I was leaving the lady at the counter grabbed my arm to stop me from leaving. That was my last straw. This was very unprofessional of her and scary to be honest. I wouldn't join a gym that physically grabs their potentially customers and is that desperate!

Ive been a member at this gym for 4 out of my 7 years in Bayonne and I'm a bit confused about the terrible reviews. The billing is VERY clear ahead of signing the contract, and even if you want out, they are notorious for working with people. The gym is always spotless and the service has always been great for me...Even the owner called to check in on me after learning that my mom was battling cancer. The gym is in a central location that is convenient for parents. Only wish there was a pool.

This place has a very worse billing practice and mislead customers by hiding few facts.

For example, they mentioned i can enroll my friends in my family membership. So i took the member ship but later they denied this. Thus us about misleading customers.

They never mentioned that there is a 60 day notice period for cancellation of subscription even for a annual contract .

While cancellation , the staf behave very rude and they speak like doing a favor and charge hidden fee annual contract(80$) , 2 months fee.
If you start arguing , they respond very rudely by asking dont u read contract that we mailed you.

Hi everyone! First of all, i want you readers to know , my review is not a paid review. This is my very own , honest review based in my own experience .

Forum is my best place ever to work out, Very classy and I love the environment, the people, enough parking, they have updated modern equipments , they have group classes, (rpm is my favorite and Zumba ) I like their Zumba on Tues morning -instructor is great ! She has her own unique style of Zumba ,its like a modern kinda Zumba ,you will surely love it!

This place is amazing ,they have all what im looking and expect in a gym. Oh! Also , no more excuses for Mothers...you can bring your baby or children , they have a playroom with a responsible sitter to take care of your child.

The place is a dump and not clean.

My first time in there, I was given every excuse by the manager as to why the air vents were caked with filth, the bathrooms had paper towel strewn everywhere (I've seen rest areas on a hokiday look better) and the showers were moldy with cracked tile. You could see where they replaced the ones which fell off and there were plenty more ready to come off.

When I asked how often the carpets were steam cleaned, I was told once every two months. That's disgusting. The rubber floors? Twice a day, she said. I didn't believe her for a second.

The disinfectant spray bottle (for wiping down the machines after using them) - the only bottle in the place - was nowhere to be seen and there was no paper towel, either. Heck, they can't even wash either the interior mirrors or the outside windows - there were hand prints everywhere.

How often do they clean the steam rooms? Every hour, which is standard? No. Every week.

The machines were outdated and some of them looked like they needed to be fixed. Holes in the plywood deck (elevated platforms for some machines) and broken tile on the bathroom floor are safety hazards, but it didn't seem to phase the manager. When the "maintenence crew" (one guy) showed up, it looked like he was a little pissed we interrupted his workout. He had a weight belt and lifting gloves on. Totally hilarious.

I ran my hand on the top of a wall - one which she said was checked/cleaned daily and I found two years of dust bunnies on top.

Time for a visit from the health department; it's ironic a "health" club might end up making you sick. This place needs a serious flush - both of the facility and the management.

Do not join this gym if you are going to have any unforeseeable life event that requires you to cancel. They are completely two-faced! Call you every other day to get you to join, but if you need to cancel it's like they went out of business. I called every day for a week and NEVER received a phone call back. I have to go there and stalk them to get them to talk to me! I had to cancel my personal training because I changed jobs and was making significantly less, they wouldn't let me cancel even though the contract says nothing about not being able to cancel after the 3 day period. Apparently you can't have a major life event where now your struggling to make rent but also they want their money. I was forced to move out of my apartment and stay with a friend so that I could pay my bill. I started this process in October 2015, I still have no been able to cancel. That's 5 months!!!!!!! When I was starting this process, one of the staff members, Margaret Bayse, berated me on the phone. Telling me to "put my big girl pants on and be an adult" Part of being responsible is knowing when not to go into debt, which this place will do. I've even had employees tell me that all they care about is money, and wouldn't get paid. If your employees are saying this, there's something wrong. The only reason they've been in business this long is because they don't allow you to leave; even if you lose your job or have major surgery.

I would NEVER recommend this gym nor will I return. They should be reported to the Better Business Bureau and also mandate everyone to take a seminar on customer service. I've never been spoken to that way, and I would be fired if I ever spoke to a client/paying customer that way. It was appalling. I also noticed the owner only replies to positive reviews on here. Not surprising.

It's the best gym in town.. It is very well equipped, the staff members are friendly and helpful. it offers a lot more than other gyms. Basketball, cross fit area, tires, basketball. Check it out.

I liked the gym, what doesn't make sense to me though is, it is open 24 hours on the weekdays but closes early on the weekends? It would make more sense to be open 24 hours on the weekends, people are off work!

A decent gym where you can get a full body workout. The only problem is, cancellation is a pain in the rear. You will have to give them a 3 month notice, and be there in person before you cancel.

Never heard of any such deal before. If you are looking for a short term time at a gym for your workout, stay away from this one.

Facility was cramped and dated even after renovations. Parking is atrocious and once it approaches peak hours, getting a hassle free workout becomes very difficult. On the plus side, the equipment selection will allow you to get a complete workout.

The customer service is poor! They answer the phones like apes, and you can never find anyone to help you even when you go in person. They charge a ridiculous amount of fees. Word to the wise NEVER sign up for total solutions it's a two year locked in contract with no way of getting out of the program. So, you'll pay an additional $40 a month for whatever package you first signed up with. All they give you is some crummy meal plan (you can get online) and a trainer that shows you basically what you already know. Then they badger you with those nasty protein powders and shakes even when you say no 100times. I was never told I only had two weeks after signing up to cancel TS because it WASN'T on the contract I signed, then after 2 weeks I came to cancel and they had some bogus explanation that I had to complete the 2 years and give a 30 day notice and come in to sign all these freaking documents and God knows what else. Then it's crowded and you can never get into a class unless you come an hour earlier than intended and people take all the supplies!! The only good thing is that the TS instructors and class instructors are genuinely caring people who want to see you do well and lose weight. That's about it. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend the gym even if it were FREE! Better off at the YMCA or Planet Fitness or even NY sports club.

In an attempt to cancel my membership, even though my account is fully paid and up to date (even though I havent been in the gym in over 3 months) after telling them I wanted to cancel via phone, "Stephanie" then immediately went in and disabled my ability to view my own profile in my MindBody account!

In order to cancel the membership, they want you to come in and have an interview and all kinds of craziness. She asked me if I moved out of state. What difference does it make. I'm not coming back in there and that is the end. If you cancel someone that has moved out of state, then you can cancel someone that is simply not going to be subject to a long interview process where you guys try to guilt and shame someone into trying to keep their membership. Long story short, I found another gym and I just dont want to deal with THIS gym anymore. Period, the end.

I was warned by many other club members that Forum Fitness Club is extremely suspect when it comes to dealing with client cancellations or anything to do with money. The customer service alone is enough to make me never step foot in this "business" again.

Well organized, Good staff, great classes (if you're in to classes) and just a great environment. Everyone there is just trying to better themselves and get healthier. I have yet to see a guy slamming weights and making some crazy noise lifting crazy weight. I'm 18 and I've been going to forum for 2 years, I use to go at about 4am on weekdays and there aren't much ppl there at that time but I just recently started going around 10am and 7pm depending on my schedule. Now those are very busy hours and ppl there are just do humble and easy to talk to as a pose to someone who is a grunt. I love this gym it had the staff that other gyms don't and many machines that other gyms don't, the locker room is always clean and in tip top shape, it helps when the members don't make a mess as well. I think of you're planning on joining a gym there is no better gym in the county for the $15.86 a month they charge for the regular membership. Oh btw at some point in the year there is a one time yearly charge of $35 to basically get new equipment do don't be surprised when one month they take $50.86 instead of $15.86 out of your account.

I wont make it a lenghty review: It isnt a bad gym. I joined in January or Feb 2013, and let's just say that due to their well-structured Les Mills excercise programs, that I have lost over 15 lbs. The gym gets crowded in the evenings, and that is about the only issue with the gym I have, as I wish it was a bigger gym. However, compared to other gyms, I think this is a fantastic gym. The Fitness Instructors are well rounded in their field, and will keep you motivated; I would recommend. I am not sure about the very negative reviews here...I am thinking maybe these are the people who expected a magic pill to lose weight in a month or two. You have to stick with the classes. If you think they are all about money, "not interested," or "no" is always an option. Overall, good gym. Semper Fi, do or die!!! Oooorah!!!!

I made a mistake of joining the gym over 3 years ago. This has been the worst mistake of my life, one that I am paying for till today not only in money but aggravation and frustration. They charged an outlandish sign up fee. Then they said that they will contact me to setup my membership. Something they haven't done since 2009. Since I never followed up, I figured fair is fair and continued paying. By that I mean they changed my credit card every month for something I wasn't using in addition to an annual fee . I figured enough is enough and called to cancel. They said that I need to come in in person between 9 and 5 Monday through Friday. So I have to take time off from work just to cancel a service I neither want nor use. When I asked for the reason here are the answers I got "it's our policy to have original signature on the form and we can't do it any other time because a manager is not here and we don't want to lose the paperwork." really? That's it? The whole world now works with email and fax. I can file my taxes with the most in efficient organization in the world online but have to come in to the local gym to cancel my membership. When I finally made it, they penalize me with 60 days, as if the 3+ years were not penalty enough! You better off taking your business elsewhere.

The first time I joined forum was great. I got a 3 month trial membership for the summer of 2012 for only $99 and that was a great deal. My membership was slated to end after those 3 months and it did, so all was well.

Then I came back (I'm from out of town) and joined again in Feb. of 2012 on a simple month to month policy with only 30 days notice needed to cancel. Well, what a scam that turned out to be! Upon joining I paid "first month and last month" and I was told repeatedly that canceling would be "no big deal - just walk in anytime" but when I finally came in to cancel it was a different story.

Not only was I told I had to have an appointment to cancel (that's funny, didn't need an appointment to join!) but I am now forced to keep the membership for 2 months longer than I am going to be living here. I told the person at the desk that if I didn't get to cancel it that day I would report it as fraudulent charges on my credit card and that escalated me to getting a same day appointment. Lucky me.

Watch out for the whole X days notice scam because what they really mean is 30/60/etc days starting from the date of the month they bill you. For example, my billing date is the 5th of the month so even though I tried to cancel with 51 DAYS NOTICE (a lot more than the 30 required in my contract) - I was still told it was impossible to cancel without paying for TWO more months of membership. One month more would be billed and one month I had pre-paid for when I joined.

I pitched a fit and after 30 minutes of arguing with 2 different people, they agreed to let me transfer my membership at no cost to a friend so that at least someone could use the 2 months that would be paid for after I moved away. I find this whole thing to be ridiculous and I am aware that such policies are even against the law in Canada for the sake of consumer protection. Too bad I will not ever recommend this gym to any friends or return next time I spend a few months in the area.
