I truly cannot recommend Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Morristown enough! My husband and I came to an open house about 7 months ago and have been dancing ever since! The instructors and the welcoming and positive environment they create is what makes coming to each lesson, party, and competition so much fun. In the short time we’ve been dancing here, we’ve progressed through the Fred Astaire syllabus and learn new steps in different dances and how to truly make each dance look effortless.

I never thought I’d be dancing - let alone ballroom dancing, and getting to share a this hobby and sport with my husband. We had the absolute best time with Will and Alisa! My fiancé and I joined the studio in hopes of learning some moves for our first dance, and the two of them completely blew our expectations out of the water! In 6 weeks, they choreographed the perfect first dance for us, as well as covered the basics of ballroom dancing and taught us a few new moves. Thea and Will were amazing instructors! Without much time before our wedding, they helped us hash out a plan for getting a lovely dance routine ready for our First Dance. They were patient, but persistent - which was exactly what we needed, since neither of us are very good dancers! Trust the process - they taught us the basics, put the pieces together, and in our last lesson even helped polish the routine in a way that really elevated the whole thing. Their style and attitudes really gave us the confidence to rock our first dance and stay out on the dance floor the whole night! We had so much fun learning with them and we loved the outcome! My wife and I came here to prepare for our first dance. Both of us came in with no prior dance experience (nor talent). The instructors (Jeff, Thea, Will, Alisa, Tony and Vanda) did an excellent job of helping us learn the basics and craft and refine the routine for our first dance. The staff is highly professional and did a great job of accommodating us as beginners. Moreover, they did so while making lessons fun and light-hearted; it was apparent that many of the longer-tenured students had made good friends with their instructor(s). The team engages students outside of formal lessons with weekly events that give students an additional chance to practice in a more true-to-life setting (these are free to students). I would highly recommend Fred Astaire to anyone looking to prepare for a wedding / social event or that are looking to pick up a new skill while having fun.

Okay so between the two of us me and my now husband have 4 left feet. We didn’t want to do an awkward boring sway for our first dance so we went to Fred Astaire. From the moment we got there we felt like family. Our instructors Will and Thea were incredible and they had their work cut out for them. We were dreading the thought of dance lessons in the beginning, but we knew we needed them and we’re so glad we did it. Got signed up to take lessons with Fred Astaire during the Fall festival in Morristown in 2021.

When I started I said my goal was to learn how to hear the beat.... to say I had two left feet was an understatement, I didn't even know how to move my feet. The team at Fred Astaire has gotten those straightened out.

They start with the basics and work up from there, they have complimentary group classes for current students and dance parties every other week. Overall, you can dance 4 or 5 days per week if you'd like to improve quickly.

The studio is a community and we've met tons of great people here. Highly recommend coming here!

We're now at almost 3 years of lessons, and we've gotten pretty in to it. We're taking multiple lessons per week, which has turned into some intense workouts. Wow! By now it is almost five years ago that I went to FADS in Morristown where I had seen a friend perform in an in-house event. I wanted to learn Salsa for quite some time and went over for my first lesson. In that lesson Greg re-introduced me to other dances that I had last danced when I was in High School!!! Salsa was forgotten, now I wanted to dance everything else....

Since then I spend most of my evenings at the Studio, eagerly looking forward to each lesson, to the learning and practicing of the steps, and to seeing instructors and peers alike.

Thanks to the great teachers, I've learnt a lot during the last years. My private lessons are my treat of the week! They are carefully tailored to my wishes and my abilities and help me improving as well as opening my mind to different things.

I have been a student at FADS Morristown since 2016 and have loved every minute of my time there. The owners, staff and instructors are absolutely wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. During the COVID shutdown, they adapted so quickly and started doing virtual lessons, group classes and events. This gave me so much to look forward to and brought me joy during tough times. They went above and beyond to coordinate virtual events to lift our spirits, bring us together, and keep us engaged. When they were allowed to reopen, they quickly adapted again and implemented proper safety precautions to ensure that everyone was able to dance and enjoy themselves at their level of comfort, including continuing virtual lessons. I really enjoyed my time with Fred Astaire and learned a lot. However, I found their rules to be a little too restrictive and their business model too inflexible. My instructor was great, friendly, and fun but I felt we didn't really maximize or fully utilize the time of the 40 minutes lessons as best as we could. There was a lot of small talk and repetition in going over what I already knew and felt comfortable with -- going back to basics if you will. I felt this was somewhat unnecessary as I was taking weekly lessons. However, they were very patient with learning new, more difficult moves. I felt that they were overly strict in how one attends group lessons vs socials and when I tried to go back with my wife after being a customer for quite some time, they essentially told me that we'd be required to work with separate instructors (more $$$ for them) and therefore they were not interested in us having us come in.

This is a really great place with great people. I just think they need to relax their rules a little bit and be a little more welcoming of different scenarios. I understand that they are running a business (franchise) and that they have to set policies that would (hopefully) apply to all. But I also don't think my requests were unreasonable for someone who took lessons very regularly, always showed up with a smile and cheerful attitude, participated in many of their paid events and paid without any issues. I tried to go back and they essentially turned me away. While being part of this group is not cheap, it is fun and worthwhile despite its inflexibility.
