Closter goldfish has it down when it comes not only teaching our daughter how to swim, but moving with kindness and high level of efficiency.

It took some time for our daughter to get used swimming. I would even say that it took longer than expected for her to really find any rhythm and joy in swimming. But with the teaching system that they have in place, they kept guiding her with patience, comfort, and encouragement. Never a time where we felt like she was being pressured, but with gentle and kind encouragement to swim and to take steps forward at her respective time.

I can’t say enough good things about Goldfish Swim School. My 8-year-old son has had a deep fear of water ever since he was just two years old and was thrown into a pool without a float by another local swim school. From that day on, water became something he feared not enjoyed.

For years, we tried lesson after lesson with different programs every summer, but nothing ever truly helped him. He’d barely put his face in the water, and each class just brought more frustration.

Ten weeks ago, I decided to give it one more real try and commit to weekly lessons at Goldfish and it has been life-changing. In just 10 weeks, my son went from crying at the thought of getting wet to confidently dunking under the water and making huge progress. The pride and joy on his face when he realized what he could do brought me to tears.

I enrolled my daughter here couple of months ago. We got a free trial class to get started. She was a beginner, so she started with Glider 1. She loved her first swim lesson, and we decided to enroll in a weekly class. The swimming experience has been great so far. She learned a lot of skills within a month and already moved on to Glider 2.

The facility itself is amazing. Lots of parking spots outside. Inside the building it’s kept warm and humid. They have lots of changing rooms, restrooms and a hair drying station with 6 dryers. The huge pool has several lanes and a separate section for family swimming. Every half an hour they operation multiple classes for different levels, while multiple supervisors and lifeguards monitor each swimmer. After each lesson, they also provide rating on the performance of the swimmer.

The app also makes it easy to manage class enrollment, transfers and putting in absent notice. They also offer discounts rates as promotions sometimes, like in October second class enrollment had 35% off. The staff members at the desk are super helpful and always try to give the guests the best service. No surprise that they continue to be so popular for kids’ swimming classes.

Emma is the best! It was the class where my daughter was going to be evaluated for the next level. She’s 3.5 years old and sometimes gets overwhelmed by new kids. Highly recommend lessons here for beginner swimmers. I am really happy that Closter is the home for a facility like this that teaches children an important survival skill. The atmosphere is super welcoming and kid-friendly and the temperature is borderline tropical! It was an overall good experience, but customer service could've been better. I went for family swim yesterday and they could not find the 5 tokens I purchased on their portal. They made my family and my friend's family wait for a few minutes before ultimately making the right call and giving us wristbands to go in. I showed them that I was charged on my bank account which they requested to see and I even took screenshots of the confirmations since I didn't receive an email confirmation.

A few thoughts went in my head while waiting to be let in: are they really not going to let us all in? The hour is going by and you're making us wait since there is an issue with your system? Is it at over capacity and will we be able to not swim?

I had anxiety waiting there with my family and my family's friends while the person at the front desk asked repeatedly: 'Are you sure you booked it with Closter Family Swim?' Yes... I did..

They ultimately did the right thing, but I think the experience at the front could've been a bit better.

We recently celebrated our son's 1st Birthday at Goldfish Swim School Closter. It was an incredible party experience! All of the children had a blast. Taylor, the Party Coordinator, was patient and responsive with all of my questions. She made the coordination a breeze! She was informative and thoughtful with ideas and suggestions. On the day of the party, Taylor, Faten, Chanel, and Subhi made sure the party went on without a hitch. Faten helped with the set up and clean up of the whole party. We did a trial class, I wasn't expecting much since it's my son's first time having swim lessons I just wanted to see how well he would do and how the structure of classes are before we commit to lessons. The staff was friendly, I thought the lesson was great. I love how many lifeguards are around the pool, it makes me feel very comfortable that my son is safe during his swim lesson when the instructor is with another child. The facility is very clean and spacious with plenty of areas to put your belongings. Unfortunately our class had to end a bit early due to unforseen circumstances that required the pool to be disenfected however I like how accomdating they were for everyone allowing them to rebook. They also allowed us to rebook our free trial lesson. My son had a great time even though the class got cut short.

I want to share my daughter's incredible transformation at Closter’s Goldfish swim school. Just two months ago, she was cautious near water (would run away from waves and was hesitant to get into a pool), but now she's not only floating confidently, but also showing a genuine desire to swim and dive!

I attribute much of my daughter's progress to her coach, Molly. Her gentle guidance, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering support have helped my daughter to build confidence and develop a passion for swimming.

I would like additionally thank coach Elizabeth for the comfort she created for my daughter on her first few lessons, deck supervisors who proactively noticed and confirmed my daughter’s progress, reception desk for accommodating frequent re-scheduling, and entire team for helping my daughter discover the joy of swimming!

I chose Goldfish swim school as the place I wanted my son to learn how to swim immediately from the first phone call that I had with a member at the desk. (Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name at the moment!) She was very helpful and answered all of my questions about the program. The swim teachers and lifeguards made my son feel welcome and comfortable since his first day. The lifeguards give him a high five every time they see him in the pool to acknowledge his presence, which he appreciates.

Goldfish has been a great experience for my 6 year old. She's progressed nicely from Junior 1 to most recently making swim force. Proud mama here! The instructors do change a lot so my advice is to quickly let the instructor (especially if they are new) know at the beginning of the session what specific skills you would like them to work on and that has helped my 6 year old progress at a good pace through the levels. It's been difficult for my 4 year old as she doesn't like water so you need to find an instructor that they can trust and that takes time especially if the teachers change so just talk to front desk and they can advise on which instructor might be best given your situation.

Great swim school with a methodology that works! Both our kids have progressed well- our eldest started in junior 1 at 4 and is in swim force at 6.5 years of age. Only downside is that teachers change a lot.

My husband and I have been bringing our daughter since January 2024 when our daughter was 2 years old. We were first in the class where we did the class with our daughter and now she goes with an instructor. We absolutely LOVE the instructor. He is so good with our daughter and I feel like he knows how to handle the situation when she doesn't want to do something. He gets it so she eventually does what she is supposed to. After we leave class she talks about everything she did even though we were there watching. It is so great and we cannot wait to see her learn more and develop her swim skills.

Goldfish Swim School is a fantastic place for kids to learn swimming in a fun and safe way. With its spacious design, high ceilings, and playful, modern interior that feels a bit like a water park, it’s inviting from the moment you step in. The locker rooms and restrooms are always clean and well-maintained, with plenty of space so there’s never much of a wait.
All the staff and swim instructors seem very well-trained and professional. Instructors may change occasionally, but it’s never been an issue.
What I especially want to highlight is the front desk team! They always greet members and families with a warm smile when we come in or leave. My favorite staff at the front desk, Taylor, is incredibly kind and always goes the extra mile to help. She’s thorough with every answer, and it really makes me feel valued as a customer.
My son has gained confidence in swimming and overcome his fear of water here. He and I are both really happy with Goldfish Swim School, and I highly recommend it to others!!

Thank you for promptly responding to my feedback about changing Jessie’s coach. My daughter really likes the new coach as well. After just one extra 1:1 session, Jessie experienced a remarkable improvement, gained confidence, and is now attending lessons with a smile. She even succeeded in putting her face in the water twice, and I am so proud of her progress. I truly appreciate the coaches.

Playing with water is fun but going into the water can be frightening. I worried if my girls were too young for swim lessons and they may afraid of water even more. The instructors at Goldfish were very sweet and nice and they made sure my girls were introduced to the water gradually in the most safe and fun way. My girls love to go to Goldfish every week and I enjoy watching them swimming. It is truly a blessing that you can watch your little one swimming and having fun in the water!

Goldfish taught my 5 yr old how to swim and not to be afraid of water and even the deep ends. We often go to Kalahari and before Goldfish, my son was very afraid of the areas that his feet couldn't reach but after we started Goldfish, my son was asking to go in the deep ends because it was fun to swim in areas his feet couldn't reach. The instructors are also very helpful because they teach my son how to swim easily without getting mad of my son does something wrong. My older son who was 10 when he finished now doesn't need life jackets and goes on slides that have 7 feet water at the bottom. I am thankful to Goldfish for teaching my 2 kids how to swim!😁

So much has changed over the years as a member of Goldfish Swim School in Closter; new faces, new flooring, more experienced staff, and new graduations celebrated.
