Great gym. Access to a safe variety of great machines even ones with varied tension points. One of the only gyms I’ve seen with dumbbells that go up to 200 pounds. Shakes are all natural and they do not use any protein powders like ghost that have a ton of fillers and sugar. Would recommend

I’ve never been to any other Gold’s Gym before so I didn’t know what to expect at first, but I was very pleased with what I saw. The facility is very big and it doesn’t really feel crowded due to the size and different workout areas. There’s something for everyone with the huge selection of machines, weights and rooms. The women’s weight section is especially nice. My favorite is the open workout area with the free weights.

the new owner is awful. they're just using the legacy of the previous owner and not living up to their name. paper towels, especially in the locker rooms are NEVER filled up. soap dispensers aren't maintain properly in the showers. at least the weights are reracked in their proper places so they get one star for that but thats because the members have good gym etiquette. i don't know if they're being cheap or they just don't know how to run a facility properly but the owners need to do better

We really need to start reporting this business to the ftc for failing to allow people to cancel gym memberships because complaining here will simply allow them to keep these shady business tactics. I did my part and i hope you guys do your part as well. Very shady business practices. I signed up for their month to month and somehow owe $280 because i had to move from the area. They do not let you cancel.

If you don't want to deal with this then DO NOT join this gym.

Edit: Look at the response from the owner and then do the math. Membership is about $60 a month. How long was I charged with an inactive membership?

The membership is expensive and offers little benefits at this location. Cancelling your membership is also a nightmare. The front desk workers sell protein shakes, but do not know the nutritional facts of these items. They are rude, dismissive, unhelpful, and your money is better off spent elsewhere

Impresses with amount of equipment, especially different types of machines. As much a variety of equipment as Ive seen. Gym area seems pretty well maintained and organized. Didnt really go into the bathroom. Only went to try out and was impressed. In the short time I was there the staff seemed very personable, members were there to work and not sitting on cell phones, and general good vibes. Turf/ functional area, bball court (shorter which is sometimes is better for pickup games), and xtras like sauna/group training rooms round out to everything u would want and need at gym.

This specific gym changed my life, the environment, equipment, staff is 10/10 every time I go. There are no jokesters or kids here, it's straight adults trying to better their lives. Everything is very clean because the owners Ruben and Greg treat this place like it's their own house which is highly respectable. I recommend people to this gym all the time because I've been to the blink, planet fitness, UFC, crunch gyms and NONE of them will ever match up to this gym I call home.

Really solid gym overall. It’s clean, has tons of space, and a great mix of machines and free weights. I never had to wait long for equipment, and it always felt organized and well kept. Honestly one of the nicest gyms I’ve been to.

Only thing I’d say is double-check the cancellation policy when you sign up as there’s a 30-day notice thing that caught me off guard a bit. Just good to know ahead of time.

Still, great experience overall and I’d highly recommend it.

The new owner seems like a scam artist who will swindle and con his members for money. I’ve been a member since 2020 and I was paying month to month (no contract). After moving an hour away, I took the drive in person to cancel membership. I got there at 12PM and no one in membership had arrived yet (first red flag about how this place operates). Front desk employees could not give me a straight answer to when someone would be in the office. I waited two hours, called the membership director Donna, left a voicemail, and never got a call back (second red flag). Finally, the owner walks into the gym at around 2:30PM and starts to help me close my account. He doesn’t introduce himself, no greeting, no eye contact, zero professionalism (third red flag). He closes my account and states my last payment will be in July & I can use the gym until the end of July. When I asked him why he was charging me for an extra month, he sited a 30 day notice agreement, in which I was never notified of, and I was on a month to month, no agreement (forth red flag). When I pressed him on the issue he said all gyms have 30-day notice policies. I had just gotten out of Signature Fitness in Belleville & they did not charge me for an extra month after cancelling. I told him this. Then he said “I can’t speak for another gym” (blatant lies BIG red flag). When I asked when my payment date is, he said it’s on the 3rd. I showed up on the 4th. Finally, attempting to appeal to his humanity, I said “do you think this is a fair way to conduct business?” He sited the policy once more. This policy is not cited on their website or posted anywhere in their front desk area. Since I was on a month to month, I was never presented with new terms and conditions. Dude is a total scam artist akin to those shady back office guys at your local car dealership. If you can’t trust this place to be ethical, then it’s not worth your hard earned money.

The gym itself — equipment and regulars — easily makes this place an 8/10. Unfortunately, the ownership and management decisions drop it to a 3-4/10.

They’ve recently eliminated the free day pass option and now charge $25 per day, which is noticeably higher than nearby gyms like Iron Revolution, Powerhouse, and Jersey Barbell, all of which charge $20. On top of that, the owner gave my friend a verbal agreement to match their previous gym’s membership rate, only to end up charging $6 more per month.

After almost a year here, I’ve seen a lot of changes — not all for the better. Wrapping up my contract feels like the right move.

My husband and I started going to golds gym in August of 2021. We have been very impressed with all aspects of the gym. The location is very convenient. The facility is huge. So, you have room to work out. It is extremely clean. The equipment is in good working order. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming! We work with a personal trainer, Janine Baratta, and she is the absolute best- always keeping our workouts fresh and making sure we have good form. She has a genuine concern for her clients and goes out of her way to accommodate our schedules! I love that there is a space dedicated to personal training. If you are looking to join a gym I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend trying out their “personal training” program.

They are amazing and we appreciate how they are helping us to work towards our health and fitness goals! They are extremely knowledgeable in all areas of fitness and health. Golds Gym in Totowa is fantastic! The equipment is absolutely top notch and there is plenty of it. I have visited various other gyms (including other Golds) when traveling for work, and NO place has as extensive an assortment of weights, benches, machines, etc., etc. Plus, while this gym already had more than enough for a comprehensive workout, the new owner has been making substantial investments by purchasing additional dumbbell racks, multiple sets of kettlebells, squat racks, extra machines for those in high demand (e.g., leg press and chest/back machine), treadmills, and so on. He is also making significant expenditures to further enhance the gym's appearance. I love coming to Golds Gym Totowa as it has helped me meet all my fitness goals, and helped me forge many new friendships along the way.

This is my favorite gym so far Every time I go they have something new or updated. If a piece of equipment is down they have it up and running the same day unlike other gyms. Everyone that works out here is serious about working out so you’re not waiting around to use any of the equipment because people arent playing on their phones here. the atmosphere inspires you to workout and become the best version of yourself. Worst gym ever. Ever since it got brought it’s been all about money for the new owner. I’ve been using my travel pass 1 once a month for basketball. And was told they now charge $15 daily fee for members from golds teterboro. They’re just trying to make more money one way or another. Will cancel my membership at other golds and will join LA fitness where members can go to any LA for free. Oh and there’s more apparently they have childcare but it’s by appointments only 🤷🏽‍♂️. I asked the owner how about if I would like to bring my child every day. He looked confused and didn’t answer.

Writing my review off of my sons account dont have my own, I’ve been coming for years and this place is falling apart, owner is making unnecessary changes but can’t even fix the ladies sauna that I turn on 3 hours before I go in and it doesn’t even get hot. Sat in there for half hour to not sweat a drop, The men’s sauna on the other hand was fixed and my husband leaves drenched in sweat. Do better instead of adding stuff like a tanning bed and acupuncture, fix the sauna

I'm looking for a new gym and went online and saw you can sign up for a free day pass. A buddy of mine was visiting and I thought we'd try a new gym in hopes of me liking it and then signing up. I get there, and I'm told you can only get a free day pass if you're local (my friend is from out of town). The manager/ owner came by so I could ask about it. His unwillingness to give good customer service made him seem like a bit of a money grabber. He provided no warmth in a greeting, and just seemed annoyed by the whole situation. A day pass is 25 bucks if you're out of town apparently. Absolutely wild price!
TLDR: bad customer service in attempting to have a an out of town friend get a day pass .

Usually I go to a gym with a friend that I am taken to as a guest. Eventually, found this gym that is not too far from where the family lives and decided to go. Greatest decision. Getting out of a timeshare is easier than cancelling here.

Took 3 in person attempts until I was able to speak to Donna about cancelling my membership and my wife’s.

She said she could cancel mine but not my wife’s because she wasn’t present. Her words not mine.
I explained our situation how my mother in law passed the month before and we had an infant. It was a tough time for my wife. We flew to Cali to see her mom in critical condition and she died a hour before we reached the hospital. You can’t blame my wife for not being able to leave the house.

So she spoke to my wife on the phone while I was there and confirmed both our cancellations. I signed twice. Once for myself and once for my wife. Don’t trust her, get everything in writing. That was my mistake.

Fast forward a few months later I’m at work and I keep getting this spam call, I decide to answer and it’s a collection agency saying I owe Gold’s gym over $200. At the same time my wife and I are looking for a new home.

Decided to pay the gym a visit and Donna was very condescending saying “you should’ve cancelled” & “why’d you wait so long”. Denying that I was ever even there.

Turns out she cancelled my wife’s membership but not mine. So that means I was there? Even though she said “I can cancel yours but not your wife’s”. So how did my wife’s get cancelled but not mine? When I signed 2 separate times. And I was the one physically there.

I’ve sent all the info to my aunt who happens to be a Superior Court Judge for Passaic County and my uncle who’s one of the better lawyers around. They’ll guide me from here. I’m not a bashful person and $200 doesn’t change my life. But now this is about principal, about time, about mistreatment, & the stress and anxiousness it’s created for me and my wife. Even if costs me 5x,10x, 20x the amount I just want to make sure this doesn’t happen to other people. It’s so wrong on so many levels.

If Donna just admitted that maybe this could have been her fault, I wouldn’t take this course of action. I wouldn’t write this review if she showed me even a little respect, but you guys need to hear how she talks to people. She probably repeated that I made the mistake of not coming in & cancelling 4-5 times. And after hearing it enough times I said “I did come, this was just negligence on your part.”
And her attitude got worse, couldn’t wait to get out of there. Why would I cancel 1 out of the 2 memberships? And obviously I was there if my wife’s got cancelled. What am I missing here?

The owner Jeff was nice in my few interactions with him in the past, but the staff represents the place too. I was a member twice there for a good amount of years.

Easily spent a few thousands on membership but in no way am I asking for special treatment. Just do your job and be courteous to easy going customers. I’ve got friends and family that go there. I raved that it was one of the best gym setups in the area to a lot of people. I’m not taking any of that back, but if you don’t plan on being a member for a long time be careful. And even then get everything in writing.

I went to this gym with a friend, as we had both signed up for day passes. It was our first time visiting this gym. We waited more than 10 minutes for someone to assist us in the sign in process. My friend had to go up to the worker, who was making smoothie after smoothie for other people, in order for us to get help. A guy who was at the gym helped us out before the worker. I asked the worker if the service was always this poor. The worker said yes and told me he had to make everybody's smoothie before he could help us sign in. When he finally signed us in, the process took less than 30 seconds. I am still having a hard time understanding why we had to wait so long. The locker room is scary, and the women’s section felt like being stuck in a closet.

Since I came back to school from Albany about a year and a half ago I had trouble finding a good replacement gym. Eventually I stumbled upon this Gold’s (totowa location) and it just was far above all the other gyms I’ve visited in NJ (even other Gold’s gyms). Appreciate the top notch customer service within gold's gym for sure!!! This location is or seemed larger than ones I've visited. The sections are labeled the womans section is always my favorite part within the establishment lol but besides that there is ALOT of equipment to choose from lol. I was surprised to see a basketball court inside to say the least. Great atmosphere will be returning next go round on this trucking journey of mine!!! Major thank you's to the staff for there assistance and tour!!! Just incase your wondering yes of course I highly recommend this gym it is never toO late!!! I would like the option to visit any gym travel pass/card free for an extra fee in my membership since my job takes me over the road not just within my county where I originally signed up but that's more corporate lol in any case keep me posted. The gym employees are nice, solid workout equipment, clean bathrooms, nice turf area and basketball court.

However they only offer Yearly contracts. Other Nearby gyms offer month to month at the same price, some of them have way newer and better amenities.

They don’t pick up the phone. I had to leave 3 voice mails and two emails, over the course
Of weeks, before I got ahold of someone.

They also don’t let you cancel your membership ahead of time. You have to remember to come the month of when your membership renews. (As told to me by their employee)

Visited this gym a few months ago for a 2-day trial with Rianna. I very much enjoyed the vibe that this gym gives. I also love all of the equipments they have. Everyone was super nice. I definitely recommend this gym ♥️

Sign up process was very easy, the lady who signed me up was very polite and respectful. The gym has every machine you can think of, and is very clean. I’m happy I signed up and I would recommend anyone to sign up at this gym.

From the moment I walked in Golds Totowa, I was shown nothing but love and support. Especially going through my first bodybuilding prep… Golds was behind me and showed unconditional support the whole journey. The club staff are awesome and nothing but respectful. Jeff has to be the coolest frigen guy there is. (Feel like I’ve known him my whole life) The energy he always has and the positivity shown is truly amazing. One thing that stood out to me is the first day I was there, once my workout was done they said “see you tomorrow”… that spoke beyond words to me. If there’s ANY gym that I PERSONALLY would recommend, it would have to and 100% be Golds Totowa! Unfortunately there is only 5 stars to rate because if there was 10, it would be well earned.

Where do I began with this doozer… after being a loyal paying customer since roughly 2013, I submitted a signed cancellation request on 5/20 in which I was told ‘Donna’ would be reaching out for confirmation to process. It is now 8/30 and they are still charging me when I’m month to month and haven’t worked out there since December. After countless calls and voicemails which were never returned, I had to file a stop payment request with my credit card company as they keep charging me like a relentless mosquito. ‘Donna’ or the non-existent employee who can only be reached on Mondays, combined with the pot holes in the parking lot the size of a moon crater, make this gym the most sketchy on earth. STAY AWAY!

Member for 7 years, they change the price without one word to me. No respect. Then i try to cancel and they purposefully wait until I get billed one more time. Also the place has a failing barber shop so prepare for hair everywhere. This place is down very bad, total disaster.

My favorite gym ever! Always clean, organized, and there's a wide variety of equipment to use. The music they play is always a bop. All the people that workout here are so nice too and it's easy to make new friends! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, especially Gio. Always welcomes me when I come in and he is a great conversationalist. He's a dedicated worker, and the literal fabric of Gold's would probably fall apart if it weren't for his exceptional service!

I been going to this gym since 2010. Day by day this gym is going downwards! New management paint and only changed the wall.

1. All equipments are super old and nothing news. While other gyms have so many new machines!
2. New management back in 2019 was 24/5 days was the gym. And now for pandemic excuse they are not goin back to the official hours. Trying to save money? Lol
3. Trainers are rude and good once Like Lu they let them go!
4. Bathroom always dirty and most of the time not working.

Their cancellation policy is truly inhumane, and they don’t let up for anything even in a worldwide pandemic! You can have lost your job, been unemployed during this entire duration of the pandemic, and they still can “only offer you to freeze your account”. I understand a contract is a contract, but while other businesses were able to adjust their rules and regulations for what we all have been facing, they don’t let up for just another $40 a month. I wasn’t told that freezing my membership was going to extended the previous date of when my contract was supposed to end, so I paid off the entire remainder of my contract with the majority of my most recent paycheck from today, and now I never have to set foot in there again. I came in good faith after my old gym shut down, and regardless of having a new gym in my apartment building for free & getting a job at a gym down the street from me where I have ANOTHER free membership, because I didn’t move 25 miles away “they couldn’t justify me canceling”. I’m incredibly disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. You can find way better, way cleaner, and way more reasonable elsewhere.

This is one of the best gyms that Ive been to. The place is always clean and has a ton of equipment. If you want to get into shape, sign up with some of the best trainers around. They specialized a program specifically for my needs. I’ve work out with trainers in the past, but Bobby, Jose and Rae will absolutely challenge you to get you to where you want to be. You won’t be disappointed!

Shout out to the awesome owners who clearly did a great job hand picking their staff. You will not find better trainers or help at another gym because this team is just amazing. While I haven’t met all staff every single one that i have encountered has been nothing less than incredible. The genuine care, encouragement, and professionalism is unmatched! Beginning with my favorites, James who makes the besttt drinks with the biggest smile, Janine who is always around and helps with anythinggg I need because shes the best and Bobby who is the most phenomenal trainer you could ever have! I would also say to definitely try out the spin class with Maria, she’s fantastic! Overall I would absolutely recommend this gym to any and everyone!!

As a Veteran I was invited to a car show and Veterans Day celebration put on by the Owners of Golds Gym Totowa. I was pleasantly surprised at the organization cleanliness, overall friendliness of the Staff and members. It is a family affair at Golds Totowa and I do mean Family! Jeff, Gina and both children play a part in the overall operation. But aside from immediate family Jeff and Gina look at their Staff as family as well. Jeff supports local hero’s as well. Members of Police, Fire, and First responders are certainly members and are welcome. That is not all the facility has been recognized as the best Golds Gym. This Gym adapted to requirements to ensure member safety during the Covid Crisis when most gyms could not sustain. They have so much to offer outside of the normal workout offerings. It is worth the trip to check them out. You won’t walk away disappointed. Job well done Jeff and Gina!!!

I’ve been going to this gym since 1998. It’s always felt like home. The staff is very friendly. The shakes are amazing and the atmosphere is how you would like a gym to be. Probably the best part of this gym is Gio. Always courteous and really takes the time out to interact with every gym member. Every time I walk into the gym I can always count on two things, I’m going to have a great work out and Gio will be waiting to greet me with a smile

Post COVID I was on the hunt for a new gym home. Typically, I've been part of studio gyms and a bit hesitant to join. However Janine, has been wonderful to work with during the transition. I was able to work out a plan that worked best for me in terms of Personal Training. Jose has certainly surpassed my expectations in what I was looking for as a trainer. I've worked with boxing trainers for 5+ years and within 3 sessions I knew he was the perfect fit. It's never the same workout and there's a method to his madness with his grueling workouts. Rae is a friendly face and it's great to see him day to day, always upbeat!
Overall, I'd recommend this gym to anyone-- whether you're a early bird, late evening , shy, intermediate or abeginner. There's a place for you there!

It did not take me long to feel like I was right at home after joining Golds Gym in Totowa NJ in June of 2021. I’m no stranger to gyms. I think I’ve been in and out more than 100 of them over the years. Proud to hang my hat here and get down to business. The energy and atmosphere is great and the owners are hands-on and care about the facility and it’s members. The staff is amazing. What else can I say !? I love it there!

I highly recommend Golds Gym Totowa. The equipment is fabulous with lots of options to mix it up and create optimal workouts to produce gains and improvements. Not only is the equipment top notch, but the gym is like a family. I usually go in the morning before work and it’s super friendly, encouraging and motivating. EVERYONE IS SOOOOO NICE! it’s also a great space with open areas for various boot camp, HIIT or it’s perfect for days when you want to have a quieter space. I also must comment on cleanliness! In today’s world, a healthy, sanitized atmosphere is important and nonnegotiable. GOLDS GYM has high expectations for keeping our gym clean and offers stations for us to clean as well! Love this! Most of all, it’s full of wonderful people, from the front reception staff, trainers, members and owners. Golds Gym will be a part of my life for a long time!

Always clean, wide variety of machines & free weights that can accommodate whatever body part(s) you’re trying to hit, ample cardio equipment, a separate turf room, classes, TV’s, great shake bar……it’s all you need in a gym. It’s the atmosphere the makes a gym. Yeah it can have nice equipment or good lighting and even the most attractive women but if you don’t feel comfortable where your training than you may need to rethink some things. Come down to Golds Gym Totowa and I think you’ll see what I’m talking about.

AMAZING GYM! Donna (I believe she’s the manager) was very helpful when I had a problem with my month-to-month subscription. She called me immediately and apologized for any issue that I had and resolved it in less than a day.
Now the gym: everything is very well organized and clean and there are multiple machines for any workout that you need to do! If I could I’d give this place more than five stars!

Over all, had a good experience while visiting from out of town. During these tough times, Golds Gym was able to acquire some Covid home testing kits that they were selling for $20 each on December 24th. Today, they were price gauging and raised the prices to $30 each. Seems very unprofessional to me as a fitness center is trying to make more money over the health of it’s members

Cancelled my membership after 8 years. New owners, bad attitude and unprofessional. Also was overpaying for childcare, which they did away with over a year ago, and was denied reimbursement when I asked for the childcare portion. Customer Service is a top priority for me and it just does not exist here. Bye 👋
