took my son to a few schools in the Hamilton / Robbinsville area. I trained in Tang Soo Do as a kid and wanted a school with traditional values and standards. Every other school we visited was a complete McDojo -- it was apparent that they were a business more than an academy and unfortunately I feel that schools like these are the reason why the traditional styles get such a bad rep in the martial arts community.

We observed a few classes and saw that unlike the others, Hamilton United was centered around focus and discipline rather than just fun. The instructors care about the quality of their students training and making sure they are physically and mentally strong. I also love that the parents and teachers at school play a significant role in holding students accountable and taught responsibility both on and off the mat.

If you are looking for a serious school that values tradition, there really is no competition. I cannot wait to see how my son grows throughout his martial arts journey.

My son hasn't been going to this school very long, maybe 6 months. It was apparent from the start that this was a great school. The instructors encourage the kids everyday, they instill discipline, and they make learning self defense fun, when they can.

But after tonight, it was made abundantly clear how much these instructors care for the kids. During a private lesson, the owner, Rae took the time to talk through issues that my son has been dealing with at school and making sure he is equipped with the skills to defend himself and remove himself from situations when he can.

The owner and her instructors really care for all the kids that attend the school. And each class my son either "learns something new, gets better at something old, or gets a good workout"! I HIGHLY recommend this school to anyone, of any age to experience Taekwondo and learn from the best!

Aside from self defense and exercise, my son has shown improvement with his mental health. Take the plunge and sign up for a class! You have nothing to lose

Their instructors are the best! We tried a couple different martial arts studios before landing with Ms. Sypher's academy. Some were too stiff and bragged about trophies some passed their students along as long as tuition was paid. Hamilton United offers the perfect balance of discipline and fun to challenge your child (or yourself) while keeping them engaged. They promote a healthy competitive atmosphere that keeps their students trying their hardest to keep improving. I love watching my son and daughter grow under the instructors supervision.

- My daughter has been at this Taekwondo academy Since February 2022 which is around the time I left my initial review. So I decided to update since the time has passed. -

I stumbled upon this place by accident actually. A former student recommended this academy to me by word of mouth because I was looking for a Taekwondo Academy for my daughter. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the instructors were mostly female, which is what I was looking for! So I say this was all meant to be!

My daughter has been here for about 2.5 years. She started in the Little Dragons and is now currently a blue belt, testing for senior blue belt soon. She loves this place so much! She has gotten the chance to compete in competitions and is now a member of the Black Belt Club!

I am so thrilled to see the progress she is making not only in her behavior, but also in her character. I also love the fact that this academy is like a family and they are very supportive of everyone. The teachers Ms. Sophia and Ms. Sypher as well as the assistant instructors Mr. Possible, Ms. Perhacs, Mr. Shah, etc. are all so kind and encouraging to the students. They really are such great role models for the kids to look up to. All of the Taekwondo kids have such great manners, very kind, considerate, and welcoming. I still highly recommend this academy even after over 2 years of being here! Best decision our family has ever made.

I am so happy that I found this taekwondo studio. I have seen such an improvement already in my daughter's confidence and focus. She loves going to class and enjoys working towards small goals each week and feeling proud of her accomplishments. I cannot say enough great things about this place. As a veteran of martial arts I wanted my son to share this with me. We went to 2 other school and they felt like the "McDojos" that really don't care about the students. I can’t express enough how happy I am with our decision to send our kids to this karate school. The staff are highly professional and respectful. They are committed to reinforcing these principles in all that they do with the kids. I also appreciate that my kids understand that they need to earn every promotion that’s given to them. I like that they have events from time to time to pull the students together, and last but certainly not least, the cost is reasonable and affordable to the point that we are able to send all three of our children.

I like this academy because they give you a lot of discipline and you have to work to get new belts at home as like helping someone at home with the grocery’s. My daughter joined the Academy at age 7, she is now age 9 and about to test for her senior purple belt. We spoke with and visited multiple martial arts schools and both her and I overwhelmingly chose this one, and I'm so glad we did. I see the positive effect of her martial arts training in all aspects of her life....and that is a direct result of the amazing instructors led by Ms Sypher who is someone I am very comfortable with my daughter looking up to as a role model. After over a year with Hamilton United Martial Arts academy, I couldn't be more pleased with my daughter's progress. This is a great Academy. We have 3 kids that attend and are on their way to senior green belt! The instructor is so so relatable to the children and works with you as the parent on all fronts to find workable solutions. We have had to send our eldest to the juniors class one or 2 times due to schedule issues and she makes it work. Highly recommend!

Rae is a wonderful teacher and a nurturing sole. My daughter is 10 and was struggling with depression. Since joining this school has gained confidence and self control. Our Daughter started at Hamilton United Martial Arts just before she turned 4 years old. She was a little shy and lacked confidence and we were hoping Taekwondo would help with that. Miss Sypher, Mr. Steele and the entire Hamilton United Martial Arts team are amazing. Not only did she learn confidence and discipline, she has also learned self control, how to defend herself, and that advancing in the class must be earned through practice and perseverance. Throughout the tough times of COVID-19, they offered one-on-one virtual lessons for the students which was extremely helpful in keeping the students on track with their training. We were lucky enough to live a few blocks from Hamilton MMA so we found the best taekwondo academy on our first try and continue to take our 6 yr old there though we moved 30 min away. It takes some kind of innate skill to keep the attention of 5 and 6 year olds while teaching them techniques, discipline and respect, but Ms. Sypher and Mr. Steele are absolutely amazing with the little dragons and we'd so happy that we found them. My entire family has been training here for almost 10 years. All four of us are now black belts. My daughters have grown to love martial arts and learned valuable life skills while training thanks to a caring and dedicated instructor team. I continue to train as a way to stay physically and mentally fit- it's the only workout I have truly enjoyed and find motivating.

This is the second martial arts academy my family has tried. I was very impressed with the comfortable parent waiting room and open floor for the students to train. I love that parents can also choose to sit in the floor area to feel more a part of their child’s training. The coaches use silly humor with the students to make class fun and fly by. The school also offers a once a week parent class, where you can train with your children! When your kids ask you if they go to class after a long day at school, you know you found gold!

We just started to bring our 4.5 year old son to the Little Dragons program and we love it. To do our fair research, (as this is our first time starting with our son), we went to another establishment to compare. While the competing facility itself was nice, we did not get the sense that there was as much respect and discipline as we have seen at Hamilton United. We really enjoy watching the Little Dragons class and love how our son is treated. We highly recommend this academy.

We brought our daughter here from another martial arts academy in Hamilton a couple years ago and we couldn’t be happier. Her previous school was always finding ways to charge extra for things and would only allow her to attend one class per week. Now she can attend as many classes as she wants, the instructor team is outstanding and the tenets they teach are not just empty words they they recite - which was the case at the previous school - but ideas they take very seriously. We also like that children must receive parent stripes and have good grades before they can test for a new belt. Tying their outside behavior to what they are able to do in Taekwondo helps teach personal responsibility, which is great. We are definitely getting our moneys worth here and couldn’t be happier.
