I've been working out here for over a year and it's one of the best gyms I've been to. The staff is extremely friendly, facilities are clean, the machines are diverse, and the 24/7 access is perfect.
I do have one piece of constructive feedback for the management: one medium-grip mag v-bar attachment has seen better days π
Its rubber covering has become loose and slippery, which recently caused a minor wrist injury during lat pulldowns. A replacement would be a worthwhile investment for member safety and equipment quality.
All in all, highly recommend Heights Fitness - I've already referred several friends in JC and they all love it too.

My experience at Heights Fitness has been very positive. In particular, my personal training sessions with Erik have helped me feel confident working out in a way I never have before, and demystified a lot of the machines and exercises that Iβd been intimidated by in the past.
As someone who has mostly done sports and exercised at home, I never felt particularly comfortable training at a gym. But I wanted to give it a shot, so I signed up for an assessment and was quickly contacted by Erik. It was immediately clear that he was knowledgeable, pleasant to work with, and highly focused on improving my comfort in the gym. He told me that his goal was to get me to a point where I could feel confident walking into any gym on my own, and Iβm happy to say heβs gone a long way to help me achieve that. He strikes a perfect balance of pushing you without ever forcing you out of your comfort zone, and is always mindful of your limits to avoid injuries. He always has a positive attitude, gives his full attention, and answers my questions thoughtfully. I would highly recommend Erik as a personal trainer for someone at any level.

I am writing to share my concerns following a recent experience at your facility. Unfortunately, my visit was deeply disappointing on multiple fronts.
Firstly, the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities was far below acceptable standards, which raises serious concerns about hygiene. Moreover, the behavior of some staff members was rude and unprofessional, which only added to the negative experience.
I was also disturbed by what I perceived as discriminatory behavior. This kind of treatment is unacceptable in any context, and I hope you will address this issue seriously.
Additionally, I have noticed unauthorized charges on my credit card and would appreciate immediate attention to stop any further transactions. This situation is causing significant distress.
Lastly, The trainer displayed a lack of professionalism, and frankly, did not seem to embody the qualities expected of someone in that role. Itβs crucial for trainers to set a positive example and demonstrate both competence and professionalism. Some losser using his allegedly "military" experience.
Given these issues, I urge the owner to take immediate action stop charging mY card and repay me. . Your "to busy" to do the right thing. The health and satisfaction of your customers should always be a priority. Beware of rhe staph infection on that rarely clean equiptment.

Your gym is outdated, with old equipment, a terrible smell, and a manager whose behavior reflects poorly on your establishment. The lack of accountability, coupled with the dismissive and possibly racist attitude, is unacceptable.
Instead of focusing on hair plugs, consider investing in a proper cleaning crew and upgrading your equipment. Perhaps then, youβd be able to retain members who expect more than mediocrity.

Generally pretty good, visited using a drop-in pass which was priced ($15) about the same as all other gym's I've gone to as a drop-in guest so no complaints there. They've got all the equipment you need to get a good workout in, the pit shark squat machine is always a pleasant surprise to see gyms have- two squat racks and 1 deadlift platform with rogue bumpers. They also have a little food fridge with pre-workout energy and protein bars and such for sale, which is nice.
My negative takes aren't worth dinging a star from the review due to most factors being outside the gym's control- it's a small space so you'll be pretty cozied up at peak use. One of the toilets was broken off the wall, and one of the stairmasters was broken. Not major things but given the small size of the gym meaning less equipment and facilities by default, it does limit your options. All in all I'll still happily visit again next time I'm in Secaucus.

Great local gym in Jersey City to get a solid lift in. Culture there seems to be a mix of serious competitors to every day people just trying to stay in shape. Space was smaller than the gym I'm a member of, but I liked the assortment of free weights and machines. Absolutely loved the variety of dumbbells offered there; everything was in 2.5lb to 3lb increments, and I really appreciated those intermediate weights (versus the 5lb increments I'm accustomed to). For the price, $30 for a week long pass, it was perfect for my 5 day stay in Jersey City. If in the area for travel, I highly recommend this gym.

Great gym for people that just need the basics. Workout equipment, shower, and some basic protein bars/drinks and meals.
I've been with them for about a year now and it's gotten a lot more polished over time; refurbishing equipment, newly painted walls, etc. They also have repair and cleaning staff now so broken equipment gets repaired right away, and the gym is getting cleaned regularly.
Love that they have in-house personal trainers too!

I am so relieved to have this place so close by, and when I have the time to go after 10pm, it's really a great experience (with one caveat I'll get to later) -- low to no wait times for equipment and a no-nonsense space with people genuinely just there to mind their business and work out.
The caveat is that sometimes the broken equipment stays broken for a while. Also really wish they had at least one upright bike -- a weird exclusion from their cardio equipment.
They sell a ton of really great and well-priced items from their pantry and fridge selections -- the Prime bites and Barebells bars are wonderful to see, and the drinks fridge includes clean, ready-to-heat meals that look great if you eat meat.
If you go during 6a-9p, it gets a bit busy: it's genuinely a pretty small space, and it's very affordable. I know they've been looking into getting a bigger space in Jersey City, but until that happens, it can get cramped if you're not going late night.

The staff at Heights Fitness is so friendly. But I especially love working with Coach Erik. I have been suffering with herniated disc pain for over a year and while the idea of weight lifting was scary with my injury, I knew I needed to start getting stronger to better support my back.
Erik is so smart and informed on making sure he's strengthening all of my supporting muscles without putting strain on my injury. If I am having a bad back day he can shift my workout plan on the fly as needed, but generally my back feels better after every session with him. It's been 7 months and I'm amazed that doing these low intensity weight lifting sessions just twice a week has already started transforming my body and I've gotten so strong. I am so grateful for Erik!

Cons:
1. Limited Space: The most significant drawback is the gym's limited space. Heights Fitness is the only gym in Jersey City Heights, and it's evident that the available area can get crowded, especially after 5 pm. This congestion can be frustrating for members trying to enjoy a workout.
2. Machine Hogging: On Wednesdays its "Jaw day" that's right! you will see grown men hogging the machines & talking for 20 mins. Making it difficult for others to access them promptly
3. I believe the Women's locker only has a sauna but not for the men's. I was told by a staff member when I signed up back in February that they will add it. But that never happened. Β―\_(γ)_/
It might be beneficial for Heights Fitness to consider obtaining the bottom floor of the building. This could provide the much-needed space and help create a more comfortable workout environment for everyone.
Despite the drawbacks, I still believe the potential and can be a great fitness destination with some improvements

Love the gym but I have a few things to say that would hope to be managed better within the next month since the gym is being renovated every Saturday and Sunday after 6pm. Please try to do something about the food smelling while weβre working out I can smell people sweating and the food combined itβs such a bad smell together and it stays in the gym for a while. Also the stair master keeps on being out of order I think itβs time for the gym to not only depend on a single stair master for the WHOLE gym to useβ¦ there has to be at least 2 stair masters so if one is out of order the other can work. I have high hopes for this gym please donβt let us down.

Great and convenient gym here in the heights, not to mention it's 24/7. I've been going to this gym for almost a year now and have seen the improvements made, though it does take a while for some of the improvements to get done. Nevertheless, the gym is open to feedback and listens to its members to improve the experience. The staff is nice and supportive to the members, regardless if they're your trainer or not. Speaking of trainers, I've been training with Tim since I joined and he has helped me achieve personal fitness goals I did not think I could ever do. Training session after training session he has pushed me to my limits. It is so satisfying to accomplish them and eventually being able to do the exercises on my own correctly and with confidence. While Tim knows when to push those limits to the max and go the extra mile, he also knows when I need a break or to just take it easy. His workouts cater to his client's personal goals/needs. When I told him I wanted to do a Spartan Race, Tim has helped me prepare for the race through our workouts. Now, I'm training for my third Spartan Race and I couldn't have gone this far without his help. Overall, Tim's an amazing coach who has great relationship with his clients, both in and out of the gym. I highly recommend this gym and Tim to anyone.

Love this gym! It's very convenient, and the staff is super friendly. I've been training with my personal trainer, Tim, for six months now, and he's amazing. I joined this place on a whim after moving around the corner last Oct. Coming from Planet Fitness previously, I can honestly say I was a bit intimidated at first, but that quickly wore off. Everyone that works there makes you feel like you are a part of a little fitness family. The warm smiles & small talk with the workers makes me genuinely excited to hit the gym. Three months in (Feb), I started training once a week with Tim. Week after week, he has pushed me to my limits & has me feeling super accomplished. He's pushed me out of my comfort zone & given me the confidence to try machines and techniques I probably would have never touched before. On top of being a great coach, Tim's also an awesome guy who becomes friends with his clients and wants nothing but the best for them, in & out of the gym. I'd recommend this gym (+ Tim) to anyone.

This gym is convenient if you live in the Heights and don't feel like driving into downtown or Hoboken and looking for parking. There's a very good variety of equipment and if you can manage to work out right before noon or the early afternoon before the evening rush, this gym is great. It's also open 24 hours of the day, everyday, even on weekends.
That being said, if you can only come in to workout early in the morning before work or after 5pm, don't even bother. The gym is small so not only is everything taken, but there is very poor air circulation so the air becomes hot, humid, musty, and smelly, even when the AC is on. The temperature has never been below 70 degrees (which for a gym, is too hot). At that point, just drive to Kearny - it's always empty and your membership will work at both.
As far as staff goes, Sue is the only longstanding employee that is an absolute pleasure to speak with, that knows what she's doing, and that knows how to properly engage and deal with people on a day-to-day basis. No wonder she was promoted to manager! Kindness and competency should not be so hard to find and yet Sue is the only one that has shown it time and time again.

The gym have came a long way. The gym is much cleaner now. Finally they have the sauna room opened in the womenβs room I canβt believe the bathrooms/ locker rooms finally came together. I still think the staff members at the front desk need alot of improvement in social skills as in being friendly and welcoming not a single person knows how to greet members when they entering the gym, they always just look awkwardly away when youβre entering or just stare in your soul but not say a single word until you say somethingβ¦. Very very very weird a lot of members agree with me on that. We would appreciate if Bryan ( the owner) tells all of the staff members to be much more nicer when it comes to greeting people coming or leaving the gym.

This place is disgusting. Thereβs poor ventilation and the condensation of everyoneβs sweat blurs the mirrors. Floors are dusty and moldy and donβt get me started with the locker room. Everything smells like sweat and fecal matter. Their members for some reason have never heard of deodorant. Imagine working out in a hot sweaty room in a cramped space next to someone who hasnβt showered in a week. The culture at this place is bad gym ettiequte. This was the main reason I stopped going. Hoping they start cleaning better.
Next letβs move on to the equipment.
The equipment is old, dusty, and faulty. Cables are always breaking.
Iβm giving them an extra star because the staff are nice and honest and the hours are great.

Cannot recommend Erik Bonini as a trainer enough! He is wonderful professional, and very knowledgeable about lifting and creating programs. At first, I went to Blink by Journal Square but my experience there was not that good. I literally need to wait for minutes for the machine to be able to do it. Then I discovered this gym. It gave me a cozy vibes and has a generally friendly atmosphere. It is undergoing certain modifications to improve the area. The management seeks out the opinion of the gym goers with regards to what machines they wish to add to the already wide-array of equipment. This involvement from gym goers is essential for the growth of this business.
Shout-out to my coach Ryan who has been very patient and approachable. He gave me useful tips on how to really execute a certain exercise. Heβs also flexible and understanding when it comes to my schedule since Iβm working as a nurse. So if youβre ready to begin fitness journey, hit him up.

Ryanβs knowledge and experience made a fundamental change me in my workout routine, from Heavy weight lifting to HIIT. I have had 2 past experiences with PT where i did not see any results even after 3 months, but with ryanβs exercise optimization techniques i was able to see results within a month. It does not help that half of the equipment is broken and they still never finished all the fixtures and bathrooms despite being open for months. I trained with Ryan before I changed cities and I must say it was the best PT experience Iβve had. Ryan went above and beyond when it came to achieving my fitness goals. He made sure to give me proper guidance not just on the floor but also on the diet. He always ensured that I followed proper diet and the workouts were the best. He cleared so many concepts, doubts and misconceptions I had about fitness. A 30 minz workout with Ryan was a lot more than what I used to do in 1-1.5 hr on my own. I had never realized that I could push myself so much on the floor. He helped me lose about 20 lbs in about a couple of months which was a huge differentiator and of course came with an extraordinary muscle gain. Iβd highly recommend trying his PT sessions.

This gym is fantastic with every piece of equipment you could need or want to train with. Everything is top notch. Of special note are the excellent quality plates and barbells. I'm in the gym nearly daily and the staff is always friendly and helpful. A few of them offer training services and I've noticed they do a fantastic job.

Brand new gym that opened in Jersey City Heights - an area that needed a gym!
Definitely a great gym with a great selection of equipment. Upgrades are being constantly made with equipment; definitely all kinds of barbells for all specific lifts; dumbbells that go up to 125lbs.
There's all different trainers there as well, all geared towards a customer's goals.
And if there's anything missing, you can always ask the staff!

Great equipment, friendly staff, and no hidden committment fees. Gyms in Union City and North Bergen are packed to the brim and are less expensive only if they lock you into yearly contracts that you can't get out of. Haven't been to the ones in Hoboken, but good luck walking to them if you live in the Heights.

This area is full of gyms, I do not see the sense of why it is so expensive .. Absurd!!to. I live in the height and if we take into account this location I realize by google map that what there is most is gyms in neighboring areas such as Hoboken, which is full of gyms, we have several in Union City plus those in all of Jersey City in the height zones ... They've been working on the gym every day (I work nearby and see through the windows). The owner (a former body builder) broke down his plans for the gym and answered most if not all of my questions. It sounds promising and I have yet to have physically been up there but as I said, he broke down everything for me. He sent pictures, explained their services, and even sent the floor plan. The floor plan! He was super blunt with how everything was from the prices to the ideology behind the gym. Looking forward to getting in there and having some killer workouts.
