I played a morning round with my buddy as a birthday treat for me and we were not happy. We called to book the tee time and not once was it mentioned that aeration was scheduled to occur on the day we played. We were asked to pay the full rate of 75 dollars each for a Monday morning and had to play the same holes twice in a row because the front nine was being aerated. Because of this, the backup was insane when we got back to the start of hole 10. I didn’t mind the waiting as much as I normally would have because it was nice to just have time to talk with my buddy. However, this waiting allowed me to notice the conditions of the course even more than I would have. The tee boxes looked bad, mowed but unmaintained. Many of them were soaking wet and just nasty to hit tee shots from because of the saturation of the ground causing slipping. The fairways were dead in some spots and suffered from weeds and crabgrass. If you let areas die, crabgrass and weeds take its place. It was sad to see and the lack of empathy from the staff made me angry enough to post this review and these pictures.

The course was in fantastic condition considering the rain we have received over the past several days. Started at 5:20 and got in all 18 at an incredible value of $51 per person. One major issue- and it needs to be fixed. Made the turn at about 6:45-7…it’s mid 80s and 99% humidity…can’t wait for a beer, a water, maybe a quick bite… entire inside area is closed??? It’s June 18th…not April. Need to be open past 6:30. Surprised wasn’t the word. Have the starter check my bag next round because there will be a six pack plus inside…

Heron Glen is an outstanding golf course, and their 5-week beginner’s clinic deserves special praise. As someone new to the game, I can’t say enough good things about this program—it’s truly designed for anyone who wants to learn. I’m three weeks in and, for the first time, I’m consistently making contact with my driver and actually understanding the mechanics of my swing.

Huge shoutout to our instructors, Kevin and Brandon. Their teaching style is clear, patient, and encouraging, and their enthusiasm for the game is contagious. They make every session fun and informative, and it’s obvious they genuinely care about helping each student improve. Honestly, they both deserve a raise!

Whether you're new to golf or just looking for a great place to play, Heron Glen is the place to be. Can’t wait to keep learning and playing here!

30 minutes behind for frost is understandable, but the 5 1/2 hour round with no ranger making people pick up the pace is ridiculous for the amount of money people pay to play here. We had the group behind us hit up on us twice for no reason and the group in front of us were the issue playing super slow.

Also how can you have no carts available when you show up.

Think I'll have to think about coming back. Course in great shape but 5 1/2 hours is not reasonable by any means with no ranger

This is a well kept public course that is fairly forgiving off the tee. There is a nice variety of terrain and different shots are required to shoot well here. My favorite course in West Jersey!

Heron Glen is a wide, beautiful course with great terrain and lots of good play. For a public course, this is tops.
Ample driving range facilities with mats and off the grass in-season. A practice green is also available as well as a bunker on the driving range which is great for practicing those sand hits without worrying about skulling someone!
Lots of interesting terrain keeps play challenging.
Finally, a friendly staff makes this one of my favorite places to play and practice.

Update: fairways/rough anywhere near cart path aren't looking so great because people can and will drive wherever they want. Lots of unrepaired ball marks.

Slow! Backed up, slow. sending people out every ten minutes without a ranger on the course is a joke.

Starter sent my group out early while I was on the driving range, then told me I would have to play by myself 20 minutes later if I didn't go catch up to my group on the second hole. he did admit it was his fault, which was admirable.

I will not be back. Not worth the money anymore.

Great golf course that is always in great shape. There are a variety of hole designs and challenges that make this course fun. The course is very well maintained throughout the year. The pace is a touch slow (4.5 hours), but it does give you time to think about your next shot. The course is very worth the price.

As busy as a golf course gets, and rightfully so. This is probably one of the most fun yet challenging courses we have played so far, with hazards a plenty yet nothing that some thoughtful planning and good shot selection can’t get you though. As an added bonus- the carts are electric, and the ice cold water refill statins as every other hole are also much appreciated! Oh, and they have a driving range to boot

My new home course. Very hard to get a tee time but that’s because it’s one of the finest courses in the state. I’ve played the private across the highway and I like this place more. Challenging but not overly hard. Wind plays a big factor here, especially on those very windy days. Practice area and club house are beautiful. Very well maintained course. Lucky enough to be a county resident and live 5 minutes away.

Incredible experience at Heron Glen! I just played here this past weekend with my father and brother. We had been trying to get on for a little while, and finally got in.

The course: Greens were in awesome shape, tee boxes were great and the course played fun and was somewhat challenging, but I feel would be good for all levels of players. Good mix of par 3's and 5's. 10/10 experience with regards to course

The staff: AWESOME staff, everyone was SOOOO friendly, from the cart/club guy, to the ladies working the pro shop, to the ladies working the restaurant area. Even the starter was friendly (that's a rarity in golf lol).

Finally, I'll say the feel to me felt much more like a country club, than a county course! We didn't have anyone playing up on us the entire round and run into anyone in front of us.

One of the most special rounds of my life. Thank you so much!! See you next year :)

Nice practice area. Beautiful course. Dining area outside was lovely. Sit by open fireplace. Staff is friendly. County course that could pass as a private course. They served a light menu of sandwiches and burgers but bar was stocked.

Played again March 2022. Local school was having tryouts which slowed us down but ranger steered us to the tenth hope as a work around.

Played again August 2022. Spent time in the very beach sandy bunkers. Much fluffier sand than most local courses.

Incredible experience. I’ve played some of the finest courses in the world. Augusta, Pine Valley, Pebble, Seminole…. This does not feel a public course. It’s kept impeccably and the course is a good one. Lots of wind, played a good 1000 yards longer. Was happy with a 74. Lots of fun penalty strokes kept me out of the 60’s

Played the course today. The weather was absolutely horrible, but somehow still a great experience. The course itself is just an absolute blast to play, it’s already in great condition, and it’s just so scenic and gorgeous. Challenging layout, every aspect of the course is fantastic. The facility is beautiful. The people that work there, inside the pro shop, the restaraunt, the young gentleman handling the carts, the starter… everyone greets you with a friendly smile and wishes you a great round. Whoever is running this place… kudos. Best public course in the Tri state area, with the best crew.

You could easily compare this to a private course. Course is in great condition with some very challenging holes. Staff is very friendly and the facility is clean and very fresh looking.

Been trying to make my way to this course for a few months now and today the stars aligned. The course was in very good shape, they aerated the greens a few weeks ago so they were slower than I would have preferred but still playable. The layout is really open BUT can be penal if you miss the fairway. The staff were really friendly, we grabbed a quick bite at the turn, the food was pricer but good. If you're a member of the county you get a good discount, being from PA I paid full price. Regardless, I will definitely play this course again.

One of my favorite public courses in New Jersey, always well maintained. It is a challenging for all levels with rolling hills and undulating greens. New club house, nice restaurant with a patio overlooking golfers coming down the 18th hole. Come enjoy a round, a meal or a drink, you won't be disappointed.(photo of 16th hole)

I would rate the course 5 stars and the clubhouse and restaurant on this particular day 1 only star...
Upon check in (outdoor window) the staff member informed me that the greens fees were not pre-paid, when in fact they had been the previous day (she checked the other computer and said "it had not updated yet."). this caused a bit of a delay and i didn't have enough time to warm up at 7 AM.
The course played great (as it usually does) - the fairways and greens were tremendous, although i have seen the fairways here with fewer divots than on this day. Great pace for a Sunday morning - Finished in about 4 hours 15 min. All in all, a nice round. Of note, the beverage cart did not come around until Hole 14.
There was a bridal shower on the patio which took up half the space, but luckily my group and i were able to find an open table around 11:30.
We sat and were greeted by the server. She was friendly but informed us that there were no beers on draft, and the kitchen didn't open until 12:00.
This was a disappointment for a facility that touts a superior bar and kitchen. Also, of note, the bartender did not know how to make 2 drinks I ordered (asked me what's in them...). strange.
We were finally able to order food at 12 and we all had the club.
She came back in 15 min to let us know they were "out of avocados" we were disappointed, but persisted. After another 20 min our food came out in paper boxes. with no utensils or napkins. you get where im going here?....
sorry, but ive had better experiences here, COVID aside. For the premium price you pay for a round and in the clubhouse here, i would have expected more.
