As a parent of a child with autism, ADHD, ODD, and anxiety, the journey has been anything but easy. For years, we did everything we could therapy, structure, support but our son still struggled to come out of his shell. Making friends was difficult, his confidence was nearly nonexistent, and we often felt stuck, wondering what more we could do to help him thrive.

In December, we attended a Christmas event at Hybrid Combat Karate, and something incredible happened. We saw a spark in him that we hadn’t seen in so long he was genuinely enjoying himself, fully engaged, and smiling in a way we hadn’t seen in quite some time. That day changed everything.

We made the decision to enroll both of our boys, and from the very beginning, it was clear we had found something special. HCK has given our sons far more than self-defense skills they’ve gained confidence, strength, discipline, and most importantly, friendship like a second family. The sense of community and belonging they feel at the dojo is something we could never put a price on.

In just a short time, our son has graduated therapy, is doing amazing in school, and most importantly, he now feels confident in who he is. That’s all any parent wants for their child.

Receiving a diagnosis like autism or ADHD can feel overwhelming, even isolating. But what I’ve learned is that so many of us are navigating similar paths we’re all trying to support our energetic, spirited, and amazing kids the best we can. Hybrid Combat Karate gave us the structure, direction, and motivation we needed not just for our son, but for our whole family.

I can’t thank the team at HCK enough for changing the trajectory of our sons’ lives. This place is more than a dojo it’s a lifeline, a second family, and a constant reminder that with the right support, our kids can do anything.

If you're looking for the best family-friendly karate school in the area, look no further! Sensei Chris and Sensei Nicole are incredible at teaching children (and adults). They make classes so fun for kids while also pushing them to be their best! If you have a child, not only will he/she learn karate and self-defense, but they will also receive priceless lessons on things like self-control, determination, respect, and care, while also having a blast and making great friendships. This is one of the best investments you can make for positive impact at a young age!

Have nothing but amazing things to say about my experience with hybrid combat karate. I attend the combat kickboxing classes with nicole and I absolutely love it. I look forward to going to each class. I get a full body workout while learning real kickboxing techniques. I also receive nutrition help and she is there to answer any questions or concerns i have. I love this l judgement free zone and i feel comfortable and empowered. In my few short weeks ive noticed my strength and confidence grow. I will forever be attending these classes.

I highly recommend Hybrid Combat Karate! Sensei Nicole and Sensei Chris are so patient with the kids and do a great job encouraging and motivating them. They focus on different topics each week, and there is a great mix of karate, exercise, self-defense skills and of course fun! I also love the fact that there are multiple classes each week per age group, you can go to all or none, and the times are convenient for working parents. I am very happy with my decision to enroll my daughter here!
