I have been training with Ian for over 3 months now and I am so happy that another one of his clients highly recommended that I train with him! Ian is so personable, knowledgeable, makes you feel comfortable, challenges you and is extremely attentive in each session. Most weeks I train with Ian 3 times a week and I always am looking forward to the workouts. I feel stronger after each workout and Ians routine for our sessions are well thought out and work towards my goals. I’ve been training with Ian for about 3 months and it’s been an awesome experience. We had a long chat about my experience and my goals and he’s shaped my sessions accordingly.

I was always a bit standoffish about personal trainers because I don’t like being barked at or pushed beyond my limits, but I don’t get any of that with Ian. He’s been super patient and accommodating, and he offers nuanced guidance along the way. I’m seeing my body composition change in what feels like a short amount of time and I’ll probably keep training for the rest of the year at this rate.

This is the motivation I need and it’s the only thing that’s worked for me after many attempts to get in shape over the years. Perhaps it’s the right move for you too.

I started personal training with Ian about a month ago and I really wish that I had started sooner! Ian possesses countless qualities that you would want in a coach/personal trainer. He’s organized, thoughtful, detail oriented and a great person/motivator. All of this translates into personalized workouts that are balanced, challenging and tailored to your goals, but still fun!

We have a great dynamic where he gives me the guidance and push that I need and I commit to working hard for the hour. As a result I’ve found that I competently and safely lift much more than I would be comfortable lifting on my own and push myself more during our interval sets. I’ve also found that training with him regularly helps me with being more mindful of my eating and lifestyle habits outside of the gym.

My training sessions with him have been well worth the investment in my health and fitness. I highly recommend working with him!

I reached out to Ian seeking online coaching for the accountability, but not so much accountability that I couldn't do what I usually do and give up within the 1st month. That being said, I have now been training with Ian for 9 months, and although I don't always work the perfect program, it's the only thing that's worked for me to this point in my life.
My goals are unlike the majority as I was looking to gain weight/muscle, and really just improve my overall health. My entire life I just ate whatever, whenever, with no obvious consequences, so I never paid attention to the ingredients in the food I consumed. Calories, carbs, macro nutrients, were all words that meant nothing to me, so the nutritional part of my program was the most important and required the most attention. My time with Ian has been nothing short of getting an education, and now my days consist of tracking my macros, meeting my daily/weekly calorie goals, as well as 4 days of strength training broken down into 2 upper and 2 lower workouts each week. Although it hasn't been easy, I've gained between 15 and 20 lbs and made noticeable improvements in my strength and cardio, and most importantly, developed a healthy routine since joining Built To Achieve!
I also want to mention the BTA discord community Ian has created, full of like-minded, goal oriented people from all walks of life. To me, this is an awesome addition to the program. A place to ask questions, share your weekly wins and get advice from many different perspectives, from people in all levels of fitness. I have been working with Ian for the last 5 months. I have done different workout programs throughout the years, and working with Ian has been hands down the BEST! In just these short 5 months I have learned an exorbitant amount of information from Ian on different lifting techniques, building in cardio, how my body changes, nutrition and much more. Whenever I have a question or need clarification on something Ian is always available, and always gets right back to me. Which is super comforting when you are trying to better yourself and make big changes in your life.

The weekly workouts that Ian provides for me are super structured and organized, which I need. My workouts and macro goals are tailored just for me, based on my goals, age and body type. They are super easy to follow. If there is an exercise I am unsure of, there is always a detailed video, or I just message Ian, and he shoots me a message back explaining it further. Ian’s weekly check-ins go above and beyond. After just filling out a short Google Form each week, Ian studies that, as well as my data on True Coach and MyFitness Pal data. He then provides me with super detailed feedback, and 3 manageable goals for the week. All of this really helps me hold myself accountable. I am so happy that I made the decision to work with Ian! I have seen tremendous progress in these few months, and I am super excited to continue to reach all of my goals with his help. I HIGHLY recommend Ian for a trainer and coach.

I am 11 weeks in to my program with Ian and I am so glad I made the leap to join. His coaching is allowing me to stay consistent and progress towards my goals. Strap in this going to a long and very thorough review of Mr. Anderson and how he has impacted my life. My friend Kevin and I run a soccer team here in New Jersey. I met Ian through the team and let me tell you what a wonderful member he is for our club. I can’t begin to state the impact he has had on our squad! I’m willing to go on record and state for the benefit of Ian. I struggle mentally and Ian in several instances has shown me the true way of being a leader, mentor, and dad to the whole team! Yes he is a young father and that truly helps in the way he looks after his clients! I’m not his client just his friend and teammate! However I feel it’s very important to let potential clients know he helps look after your mental health as well. For instance my dad is very ill. During our season we had a supporters day. My family can’t attend due to my dad’s health. Ian decided to check on me throughout the event and they really moved me. As young man with no family it did not register at the time until week or so later. Other instances are that I’m a very passionate person and I can be very misunderstood. Ian attempts to understand each person. There have been instances that were no matter what is going on in my life Ian always approaches me attempts to help me feel better! On top of that many of our players look up to Ian and he greatly helps the team dynamic. He also brings his family to our events which brings a very nice atmosphere to the group! As you see none of this has to do with him being a player for the club! It’s all about Ian the person! Thus if you do need any fitness needs please by all means reach out to Ian! Working with Ian has been great. I have been working with Ian for 3 months doing personal training and his Built to Achieve program. The results have been pretty dramatic. In a few short months, I have lost a significant amount of body fat, begun to build functional muscle mass, and increased my overall health and productivity. I trained with Ian in person during my time in Hoboken and now remotely. He is the real deal. Highly recommended. I appreciate his guidance and his ability to motivate me and tailor programs to accommodate my injuries. He knows when to push and when to dial it back. He was supposed to just get me ready for ski season but we continued training way past that, because I've seen real, substantive results. I started my training with Ian in January of 2023 and I cannot imagine my life now without my twice weekly sessions. I view my time with Ian as an investment in my long-term health. There are days when I want to show up and days when I don't, but having the times booked means there are no excuses. And when the sessions are over I know that I've spent the hour pushing and improving myself - something I likely would not have done on my own. Additionally, Ian creates workouts that focus on my primary goal of building muscle and getting as much done as I can within the hour. He also gives me guidance on what else I can do during the week that will help me achieve my fitness goals. I started working with Ian before Christmas as I was stuck in a rut with my exercise, diet and mental health. I thought this could be the worst time of year to start but I couldn't have been more wrong. Starting then just helped changed my mindset, I have and I am continuing to lose weight, get fitter and improve my diet and smashing goals I set for myself. Even though I am not training in person with Ian this actually puts more accountability on me to stick to what we have agreed. My sister and I have been training with Ian for about 4 months now and our sessions are something we look forward to every week! It started as way to get in shape before my wedding while also adding some strength training into our workout routines but has quickly become a staple in both our routines. Ian does a great job of continuing to challenge us in each session with new exercises and heavier weight while also keeping an eye on form to help us get the most out of every workout. He customizes the sessions for each of our goals and always brings the positive encouragement when we’re struggling through those last reps. I’ve been training with Ian for over 3 years: first, in person, and now—after my wife and I moved to the Midwest—virtually. There’s a few reasons I’ve never even considered working with someone else: First, Ian is a wizard when it comes to developing creative yet challenging workouts; second, the mad lad is absolutely hysterical; and third, Ian truly cares about me succeeding at my fitness goals (this was obvious from my very first training session with him). Working with Ian has been an amazing way to progress along in my fitness journey in a way that works for my schedule. I’ve done training with him entirely virtually which means I can fit the training into my busy schedule but still maintain a level of accountability.

Any time I’ve had a question, Ian is always available to chat via text or hop on a quick call and he is always open to making adjustments based on my feedback. I have a very busy work schedule with lots of travel built in, but Ian is always willing to work around it, which allows me to stay on track even when my environment changes - he adjusts to bodyweight or modified equipment as needed.

Met Ian over the summer at local CrossFit competitions. He is good friends with members from my CrossFit gym and I became aware through one of my members on his personal training programs. Training with Ian has been rewarding for numerous reason. Not only do he put more through excellent well thought out sessions to suit my fitness goals but he has also taken the time to educate me about nutrition and how important my diet is.

I have trained for years on and off at the gym and never really saw any noticeable results and I know now why. I have been specific enough with my training, not performing a wide variety of exercises and did not focus enough on my diet. I used to do the same exercises week in week out. Training with Ian I may do an exercise once a month but each time I return to that exercise I will be improving on my reps or speed.

During the time we have been training together we have gone through several changes in my training program. I injured my hamstring during one of my sessions and Ian was able to tailor my sessions so I was able to keep training and not do anymore damage to the injury. I am now back training on the muscle and feel stronger than ever. I also expressed to Ian that I would like to go through a cut month and try to shed a little wight and body fay. Again Ian was able to tailor my sessions to higher reps and higher intensity.

Logging my reps and weight is an excellent tool Ian uses to plan my sessions, I know he is using my results as he will put notes on when to go heavier than last time to increase strength.

We have already planned to change my goal next month to increase my strength and I already can’t wait to see what is in store.

Ian checks in every week and wants to know my progress and feedback. If there is anything I say I need help with he is more than happy to take a call from me or send me information to help answer my concern. Ian is a very knowledgable and caring trainer! We have already discussed setting goals for the end of 2022 as I do not plan to stop working with Ian anytime soon. 14 weeks in, I really can’t wait to see where he can take me after a year!

Since working with Ian a few months ago he has really helped me understand the important areas of my fitness and nutrition. One of the biggest things I was struggling with was I had just become a new dad and was getting very little quality sleep, I was low on time, and my nutrition had taken a dip. Ian took the time to work out what time I had, the equipment available to me, and the main goals I was looking to achieve. He helped me set sustainable goals based on my circumstances and he checks in every week without fail to see how the week went, what my success and failures were, and what additional support he can offer. Ian has also helped me switch my mindset on weight and told me to measure body fat as opposed to overall weight which has helped me a lot psychologically. Finally, he has always been flexible and creative when setting out my program for the week which I really appreciate. For example, when I was going on vacation and knew I would have less time and no equipment, Ian was able to design that week with shorter work outs consisting of body weight exercises to keep me ticking over. What I have received has been a tremendous value for money.

Ian takes the time to make sure that every repetition, and each set that you do is working exactly that part of you that's being targeted. He is very careful to make sure any pulls, tweaks or sprains are protected from further harm, and engineers a different achievable, but challenging workout each time.
Since I have been having training sessions with lan, I can see my body shape has changed, I am stronger and have more stamina. I wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone that wants to develop good workout habits and engage their body for the long haul of everyday living!
