Un año estuve en ese gimnasio y la verdad mala experiencia en absolutamente todos los aspectos y ojo no pueden cancelar el débito automático hasta cumplir el año de contrato sino les cobran como $200 dólares el cancelar. Used to be a really good gym with mad bodybuilders and everything(Really inspiring), but it really fell off a mountain in the last few years. The culture is trash. Now it’s just a lot of teenagers and soccer moms Working out with bad form…

THE GOOD: The machines are actually pretty good I must say And I do like the staff they are courteous and helpful.

Newark doesn’t really have much to offer fitness wise so there’s not too many better options Especially at this price point. I just wish it would be better. A lot of potential I will admit…

I go into the gym and ask if I can see the gym and equipment. The uneducated, no class having around the way filet working the counter points to the security monitors. Confused I asked " I can't get a tour? " she pointed at the monitors again and told me I can see the gym that way. UNBELIEVABLE!! Don't get me started on the treatment two black friends of mine received one time when trying to use the free day pass. The person at the counter said to them the pass wasn't valid on a salary a Saturday and proceeded to charge them for the day. Now mind you I called and was told the free day passes are good on Saturdays.

This gym is dripping with potential, there is some seriously sweet equipment and the space is laid out in a way that should perfect... however, the lack of organization, the lack of certain staple machines, the cluter of duplicate unnecessary machines, and lack of cleanliness brings this way down. No one re racks weights, there is only 2 cable racks in the gym, but about 35 different chest press machines. But again some seriously cool equipment if you care to dig around and find it. Also why is there equipment set up on the turf pad, farmers carry and sleds set up to use the turf pad but there is no room to use them

I’ve been paying for my membership for 3 years and I had the option to bring a person as I was paying an additional fee. Today when I entered the gym in the morning the girl told me there was a change of owners and I could no longer bring a person. NOBODY reached out to let me know of the changes and they continued billing me the additional charge. Being that I payed in advance they could of notify my and let us work out today instead she charged my friend the day pass and told me I would continue paying the same price. I never go to the gym in the morning to avoid the extremely rude girl at the front desk who claims to be the manager. I didn’t cancel my membership before because of the previous owner being a complete sweetheart.

I've been using this gym for about 8 years. My contract is going to end soon and unfortunately I'm not going to renew it, because I'm very disappointed with the service of the new manager. He is a very rude person that appears to be very unhappy with his job. He is extremely arrogant, ignorant, and uneducated. For this reason, my 4 friends and I will be looking to join at a different gym. I really wish this man wasn’t working there, because the gym is super cool otherwise.

The horror starts at the front desk with the racist "Assistant manager" Mary. She is unpleasant, argumentative and judgemental especially if you are a Black Man.
First she (Mary) accuses you of not returning the weights properly, the she accuses YOU of being rude and she feigns tears for great touch. Then she uses her maintenance staff to help harass her chosen target. The gym is great and the owners are top notch but the person referenced above is the reason I canceled my membership. This person MARY is a blemish on a stellar establishment.

Pretty decent gym and equipment. At the time I visited, which was early in the afternoon, the young lady at the front desk was very helpful. My concern is the cleaning and sanitizing of equipment. I noticed there was no sanitizing wipes near the equipment downstairs. Also people were sweating and sharing equipment without cleaning. My other concern is the women’s locker room. Why is the door wide open while men hang in front of it. No privacy at all! Very uncomfortable atmosphere while changing.

The staff refuses to cancel my contract and keeps referring me to their bogus collections agency to pay fees.

I’ve tried numerous times to contact them over the summer to cancel after their gym was closed due to Covid-19. Through email, phone, Instagram DMs they never responded. Per the contract I’ve signed with the gym, I have the right to cancel if the gym is closed for more than 30 days. It was closed for 3 months. Fortunately, I contacted my bank to block any further charges from them. However, their collections agency still bills me and harasses me to pay up.

Today I called again and they say they can do nothing to cancel my contract and to go through their billing company. Billing company wants me to mail a letter to them so they can pass on to the gym lol. This place is working under the assumption that customer service doesn’t exist.

Similar to a previous review, if these charges get put into collections and damage my credit, I will get a lawyer.

The gym has great equipment and is in a great location, easily accessible by public transportation but their customer service is horrible. During this pandemic, I’ve been charged three monthly payments while business is closed by the governor’s executive order and have gotten no response on how to cancel my membership. The story is when covid instead of putting in consideration that people may face difficulties during that time , they started applying what’s called freeze fees which I have never heard of as I do have other gym membership! I absolutely love ironbound fitness ! Best place to train. The facility is clean, gorgeous and full of amazing equipment . I am currently prepping for a competing and if it wasn't for the ironbound fitness family i wouldn't have been able to push tru.

I moved out of Newark this past June and have been trying to cancel my membership to no avail because it's been closed due to covid. They've been charging me monthly anyway and finally I was able to get in touch with someone and requested to cancel since I moved. They said I have to come in. Once again I said I moved, I can't come in, and I asked if they can mail me whatever I have to sign. They said no and said I should have cancelled it before I moved. I told them I tried to but they were closed and they said there's nothing they can do about that, implying that's not their problem. To anyone thinking about joining a gym, don't waste your time going to Ironbound Fitness. I can't believe how unprofessional they are. I guess now I have to call my bank and have them handle cancelling payments to them since all of the other gyms in New Jersey are able to cancel over the phone except them for some reason.

They have a great gym and staff that is clean and well maintained. They have horrible customer service in regard to how a customer can handle cancelation and issues.
My wife and I are going through the pandamic and struggling and our 1 year membership has expired and we are still being charged monthly for gym membership even though it was closed. We never got any email, call, text, mail informing how they were going to handle membership and cancellation. I tried emailing them but their marketing email has failed. Blink fitness that my brother goes to kept him informed and has not charged him anything. Great Gym. Lots of everything, clean, nice people. I was in town for work and caught a workout on a day off. Cant think of one thing wrong with it. The equipment was in excellent condition, lots of it, all the top end equipment like Hammer Strength, Cybex, Life Fitness, tons and tons of weight in both plates and dumbells, the gym was fairly neat, they have a nice shake bar where you can get a shake after workout. The exact kind of gym I love to find in cities when I am on the road. If I could have given it 6 stars I would have..

Ironbound is literally one of the best gyms I've ever been to. I go there to destress, get my body in shape, and to just burn off some pent up energy. They have way better machines than Planet Fitness and Blink. I met the owners several times and they were just amazing. Gave me tips for my body type which I truly appreciate. As an traveller to the area from abroad I was looking for a gym in the short term. This gym refused to give me a free trial, and then asked me to commit for a 1 year long contract that costs around $40/mo + $60 enrolment. This is far too expensive for this kind of facility and you can do much better with the surrounding gyms in the area. I ended up getting a monthly membership with no commitment for $30 so still wondering why this gym charges so much.

*Update: After being threatened by the manager I am even more furious at the management and attitude of the club manager. First of all I was a FORMER employee of LA Fitness and understand how a gym should be operated. And yes I was told I couldn’t get a free trial because I’m not from New Jersey? That’s without discrimination? This club is total bs, btw I found a much better deal with no contract at the gym next door FYI.

What a bad tour. These reviews are compromised this gym is cluttered with machines. They dont even give 5 feet distance to machine. It looks like a storage facility. It is super tight, i just stopped by yesterday and they front desk lady who was not even by the desk is the same person who tells you pricing. She did a horrible job was rude didnt even give me a tour. From behind the desk was like, "you can take a quick look around. Just tried the gym over the weekend. As soon as my current membership is over I'm definitely joining this gym. I went 2 days in a row and I had no issues. The entire gym was very clean! Loved all the leg machines. Everyone was super nice!! I definitely recommend this gym!

Fantastic Gym, great music, great machines, clean bathrooms/showers, great shake bar. It is not open 24/7 like the website says, though. Show up at 2am after a 3 mile run late Saturday night after watching Rocky 2 thinking your going to get some heavy sets because you gotta get ready for Mr T and you'll be disappointed. Ask me how I know.

Great equipment in this gym, stuff you won't find at other locations. I've been to (the now closed) Fit above, Club Metro and Evo and noticed a common theme, lack of equipment and free weights. Here I can actually use the same dumbbells as 2 other people and not have to wait for someone to finish. Never took advantage of the classes but they look fun.

these ppl are sending letters to ex-members collecting an outregaous amount of money after there accounts and balances haven already closed they are running a scam here.. i signed up for a year cash contracted meaning no card information anything of that matter this was about 4 years ago. just the other i am getting a paper saying that i have to pay 2000$ from "frist credit services" a company that has ppl that cant comunicate well or be helpful....theses ppl are trying to scam us to keep their business a float.

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS PEOPLE!!! I started getting harassed by a debt collector for the past week. I cancelled this membership almost 3 years ago and they want to charge me more than $500 on unpaid dues. They renew contracts without letting the customers know. Extremely unethical, I'm surprised this people still on business.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A CONTRACT!!! they will keep billing you but not send you bills or even attempt to contact you for years until one day you get a Creditors notice for hundreds of dollars. Very unethical and shady business processes going on here basically...

I had my purse stolen 2 years ago while I still had a membership, I had to cancel my credit cards and with that I never thought twice about any payments I had coming out of those cards... other recurring payments I had contacted me immediately like any ethical business should.

Ironbound fitness took it upon themselves to keep billing me internally and never let me know I was accruing fees - a simple email would've sufficed you know... Until today (2.5 years later), I received a 300+ notice from a creditor ... go figure.

I sucked it up and paid a one time settlement fee because I don't have the time or resources to fight this even though I can't afford this nonsense at the moment.... but they didn't deserve a penny from me.

Also, no one answers their phones when you try to contact them. Not even a voice mail, just "call back again later". Real professional...

Horrible business. You sign a two year contract and they keep trying to charge past the two year contract. Even if you have not stepped foot in the gym in over two years.

And they will give your information to a credit agency "First Credit Services" that isn't even accredited by the better business bureau.

No accountability, employees are incredibly rude, they scam in order to keep their failing gym afloat.

I would give zero stars if possible.

I love the various classes they offer, the customer service given, and the motivation given by those there. I really like the music played by the staff. Last but not least, the cost is within my budget and it's very convenient location.

I was in this gym for years since they pretty much opened at first it was pretty small but it has everything you need to get the results your looking for "BUT" after so many years there I was being treated like I was a nobody. Staff is very rude the girls at the front desk seem as they hate their job not friendly at all especially the manager. The reason I left this gym after so many years was because denied access to the gym because I simply forgot my scanner. I was outraged and immediately requested for a cancellation as I will not want to go thru this again. Especially when I live far from the gym to go back home for a scanner. Also watch out for their shake menu they false advertise, the menu states you'll be getting a certain about of protein which includes protein powder + weight gainer protein and in reality they just add the protein!! When I found this out I was very up set and the stuff just seem to brush it off like "oh we don't add that any more just one scoop". Mario J Cortes.
