If you’re looking for a place to get strong and have fun, this is it! The classes are a mix of strength and cardio.
Before joining their membership, I really struggled with a kettlebell snatch and clean. The coaches helped me with cues and things to practice. Now I feel more confident in throwing kettlebells around and stronger overall.
The best part are their coaches! They’re super personable, helpful, and will push you to be better.
In short, Ironbound is just an amazing community that you don’t want to miss.

Went in for a 1-1 session and really enjoyed the experience! I was at first very hesitant as (1) it was my first time at a gym working with a coach, and (2) haven't worked out in awhile, but I didn't feel judged, nor uncomfortable. The coach I worked with was informative, he asked relevant questions about my fitness level, any injuries I had, which I really appreciated (hurt my back and ankles recently), and attentive. In one exercise, he asked how my back was feeling and although I felt I was able to push through the current set, he recommended a different variation or equipment that did the same job but with less strain on my body. The gym is a great, ideal location, and the members made me feel welcomed. I'm feeling sore the next day, so I know it was an effective workout!

Great place for ambitious yet no-pressure workouts. Josh manages the place really well and has a great bunch of coaches who know what they're doing. They even have Whiskey Wednesdays now

I definitely feel stronger and more skilled since I started attending classes at IPA. I love how I don't have to think about anything, I just show up and a challenging work out is already planned. All the trainers are super nice and knowledgeable. Smaller class sizes let's the coaches pay attention to/help with your form. I also love how they have so many different kettlebells, making it easy to work on progressive overload - most commercial gyms have a very sad KB selection. Definitely recommend IPA!

Checked out this gym late on a Friday night. A few friends religiously work out here.. after touring the space, equipment and meeting the owner, now I know why.. do yourself a favor and stop by.

World class gym with world class instructors! Everyone is incredibly friendly and down to earth. The classes are great and it's a great environment to reach your fitness goals and/or learn how to work out the right way. Need an IPA gym in NYC next!

I hate working out, but Ironbound makes me love it. It’s the only gym I find myself consistently showing up to. The workouts are different each day, and it’s a fun and welcoming environment. Special shout out to Courtney who leads the 9am classes—she helps with my form and pushes me to increase weights and get stronger! 💪

Pretty good gym, with great classes, though some coaches can be dismissive and uninterested in your development, but the ones that do care are great. The upside is that the community has plenty of experienced members that are extremely good supporting you on your fitness journey.

The only thing I regret is not coming to this place way sooner! I just jointed a couple of weeks ago and I love it! Awesome coaches, helpful, making sure you do workouts properly! Friendly atmosphere! Highly recommend!

IPA is a great fitness studio! The classes are full body, kettlebell heavy circuits. I've been going for a while now and i've never been fitter.

I've been attending this gym for just over a year. I've tried many other group fitness classes in the area, and while they were good, my progress always plateaued. At this facility, there is an option to push harder and a chance to get stronger, safely, under the eyes of coach, who also demos the moves. Their is a vast range and size of weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, plates, and varied cardio machines like assault bikes, ski erg, rower and treadmills. There are enough class slots 7 days a week to fit with my work schedule. Things I thought I would never do, such as pull ups or run a faster mile, I attribute to this gym. Losing weight, feeling and looking better in clothing is nice too.

When I first joined IPA I admit I was intimidated. Not only was I an overwhelmed mom to a 3 year old, I was recovering from a severe shoulder injury and had never been to a strength class ever in my life - I had preferred swimming and dance type classes before. My first few classes were challenging to say the least but the support and kindness from the instructors and fellow members made me want to stick with it. I’m still here 2 1/2 years later and find myself significantly stronger and in better shape than I’ve ever been before in my life at 38. The classes are programmed with expertise and always allow for personalization regardless of what level you are at. I enjoy testing my strength now and thinking back to what I was barely able to do when I first started. I especially enjoy the camaraderie that I have with fellow members, we always encourage and challenge each other.

Several years ago I had a serious leg injury and while rehabbing decided to change my exercise routine completely. I found Ironbound Performance Athletics and am happy I did. I started out with the a few initial personal training sessions and then have continued with groups classes since. I love the format, pace, and variety of the workouts and the community Josh and the other trainers/coaches are building. I really enjoy the core work, strength training, and mix of cardio. Highly recommend to anyone.

I'm a new student here. After two classes I'm in love. So many new toys! I really enjoy the programming. The work out is tough enough to challenge me but I can see that I have a lot of room for improvement.

Update:
Been a student here for a few months. I'm stronger, faster and fitter. My jiu-jitsu training can be much more intense, I feel fully prepared for ski season, went rock climbing for the first time in a long time and felt super stable.
What else can I say....come try a class.

I don't know if I've ever loved a workout the way I love IPA. Every morning I come, I give my all (or do my best) and the encouragement I get from Josh & Matt keeps me from giving up.
I suffer from upper respiratory illness and I'm used to needing an inhaler before/after too much activity. I've been coming for a few months and my breathing has never been better- I barely use my inhaler before or after classes now!
Truly love this place and I thank ya'll for the growth!

All gyms are similar right? Yes and no. What you are getting with IPA is a community like no other gym you've been to. It is understood that items such as weights and equipment are an important part of a workout, however the reason why IPA stands out from the rest is because of the simple fact that there is a tremendous community of amazing, supportive people who make it a priority in their lives to visit with regularity and make it a part of their routine. This is why this gym is so special. When you look beyond all the things commonly advertised in the industry (facilities, equipment etc) understand the primary reason why you will improve and get stronger is an environment that keeps you coming back time and time again. This is where IPA stands above the pack, as it is a special place unlike any other because of its one of a kind community. I can say with certainty that the experience of being a member has been transformative in my life and is something I could not imagine living without now.

I started going to Ironbound probably about a year into the pandemic. I was doing at home workouts but as one knows who lifts weights it’s hard to stay in shape, keep your strength & stay motivated when you don’t have the proper tools. Not only has Ironbound helped me gain my strength back & PR on almost all of my lifts but they have given me a community that is full of support. The motivation & team like spirit really helps to keep me going. I highly recommend for people of all levels of fitness. The workouts are challenging but can always be scaled.

This is an amazing fitness studio that will encourage novices and challenge experienced participants to achieve more from their workout routines. I strongly believe that I would not be able to achieve the goals I have set for myself without Ironbound Performance Athletics (IPA for short), the owner Josh, the instructors and my fellow classmates!
I started at IPA after period of inactivity due to a knee injury and Josh with his well trained staff helped me ease into classes with modifications that allowed me to gain the strength and confidence that has propelled me to maintain a regular discipline for over 2 years.
The workouts change daily so it's never boring, the instructors all bring their diverse insights and the sense of community keeps you encouraged, supported and accountable.
IPA is available on the ClassPass app which works for me since I typically travel for work often but I am sure it's more cost effective to be a member. Also, the member portal they have makes it easy to book classes and allows for more flexibility if your schedule changes.

I took a class at this place through ClassPaas, I could say this is the most unorganized fitness place I have ever been to. The trainer initially explains you the workout (workouts are pretty good) and then he's just on the phone or the laptop doing his own stuff. Does he check if the clients are doing the right form?: NO
Does he help if the clients are stuck in an exercise and are not able to do the workout?: Absolutely NO
It's surprising that it has good reviews, they really need to learn how to conduct a fitness class, other than the trainers being on phone all the time.

Had a class here through class pass and I’m glad I made it. The place looks new, however it was pretty crowded when I went. Even if there was a lot more people than I thought can fit there, the work out was pretty spaced out and there were no issues with a big class. I think the workouts were challenging and interactive. There was some team work and people seemed to enjoy working out there. I would def go back. Friendly staff and nice people at class, made the vibe a good one.

Best hour of my day!
Just finished the first month, $49 trial, here. Amazing!!! Josh, the owner and instructor, is very knowledgeable, professional, and encouraging. Workouts are designed to work for all fitness levels so there is constant room to grow and push yourself which the positive group will help you do.
Just moved to the area from near Morristown and I also looked at Base and did their 7-day "trial" there (as if you can try anything in 7 days?) and was very turned off by the typical gym membership BS. Even offered to pay for the full month to try it, they wouldn't budge. NEXT! Crossfit Jersey City was silly expensive because... why charge less if people will pay more? Franchise royalties are expensive.
Such a great value for the $160/month for the Group classes that max out at 20.

I signed up for the $99 kickstarter (includes personal training sessions) program and am now a devoted member of IPA. Joshua is a thoughtful and dedicated trainer that keeps the workouts fun and engaging, but always gives me the push I need. Would recommend IPA to everyone looking to improve their fitness level!
