To management, the condition of the sauna is unacceptable. I understand that there is a sign that states not to pour water, oil or any kind of liquid into the sauna but it seems like people just ignore it or don’t know how to read. A suggestion I have is what I’ve seen at the Clark and Secaucus La Fitness, they have a barrier around the sauna equipment. By putting a barrier that goes all the way to the ceiling this will stop people from pouring liquids into it. Please take action because this will prevent breakdowns.

Gym is in a great location, lots of equipment. You will have to choose your time because it can get packed. The gym does have signs stating no weight slamming but no one enforces it, so be prepared for lots of noise that will make you jump by weight slamming to the ground. The gym needs to stop advertising a Sauna and hot tub in the mens restroom because it seems to be down all the time.

LA Fitness is a solid gym with a great setup—clean facilities, plenty of equipment, and an overall positive atmosphere. Big shoutout to Adam at the front desk/training staff. He greeted me right away, gave me a quick tour, and helped me pick the right membership without any pressure. He even took a few minutes to check my form on a couple lifts and suggested small tweaks that made a huge difference. The locker rooms are clean, and I rarely have to wait long for machines. My only small complaint is that it can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but thanks to Adam’s help getting me started, this has definitely become one of my favorite gyms.

10/ 28 -The women's suana and men's sauna have been out of service since 10/19. I have asked multiple employees when the saunas will be fixed and none were able to provide a definitive answer.

4/7/2025. - the men's sauna bench have been fixed and the temperature has been at more appropriate levels. Still needs improvment on cleanliness.

1/28/2025 - Men's Sauna , the dialnis broken and the sauna heats to 100°. We reported the issue on Sunday 1/26 and were told a work order would placed. We checked on the status today, Tuesday 1/28 ans the front desk folks states they were not aware of the issue.

Men's sauna hasn't been working since July 2nd. Each morning when we ask the front desk representatives about it they act surprised though its been mentioned to them before. Today is July 8th...let's see how long it takes for someone to actually give us a straight forward answer regarding the issue and the estimated fix date. Then, we'll see whether they even meet expected fix times.

Well, that was short lived. The sauna is once again not functioning since Thursday, 1/18. Today, Sunday 1/21 I asked the folks at the front desk about the status of the fix and I was told they would contact the general manager to have a technician come out. I was confused to learn the technician hadn't been scheduled already since I reported the sauna wasn't working on Thursday. The lack of responsiveness is so frustrating. I'm in a love / hate relationship with this place.

Finally able to report Sauna has been back in servicel since mid December.

12/5/2023 Update:

Sauna is still out of service. Its been 3 months! Not sure why it would take three months for a business to have its sauna fixed. However, a sign was posted stating it will be serviced on 12/07/2023 and will be open to members on 12/08/2023 but I wouldn't mark the calendar yet. I've been given false open for service dates in the past.

11/21/2023 Update:

Wish I had better update but Sauna is STILL out of service. It seems unreasonable for it to be out of service for so long. I hope they are better prepared to service the sauna the next time it breaks.

11/08/2023 Update:

Sauna is STILL out of service. They posted message at the front desk on 10/31 which states that it will be another 7 to 10 day. The posted message also states they are offering to compensate its members. Request to speak to an operations manager. I have posted photo of the flyer for reference and awareness.

Guess what? Sauna hasn't worked (again) for 3 weeks now. Three weeks ago the temp could not be adjusted to the recommended temps and temps remained below 150. After two weeks of low temp last Monday 10/16 I walked in to see a sign stating it is out of service and still out of service this week. So, once again, I'm keeping my end of the deal and per contract paying my monthly fee. Yet, LA Fitness Bayonne fails to honor their end of the contract and provide the service they promised to offer. The spa/hot tub has also been out of service. I am also peeved that LA Fitness Bayonne and staff do not make an effort to make good on their failure to provide the services promised. Members just have to pay whether they receive the services or not. Yet, I'm sure they would stop me from using their services if I skipped a payment.

Dropping my rating since this gym has been open around 3 months now and the women's sauna and hot tub have been out of service too many times. The sauna and hot tub have been out of service for 8 days this time around. To add to the inconvenience the gym does not use their app nor social media to provide any updates so call to make sure these amenities are working before you go. And to add to the frustration of not getting all I'm paying for the customer service is lacking. The reps are never rude but they never have anymore info than its not working. No explanation, no apology, no estimated time for a fix, no we'll notify you when its fixed. I am very disappinted! Get it together LA Fitness!

After many disappointments I’ll be leaving this gym. They have cancelled almost all cycling classes so if you plan on joining this gym for that purpose stay away. The only weeknight spinning class left is on Thursday evening. There are a couple classes during the weekend but just one spin class during weeknights in the evening is ridiculous.

Hot tubs and sauna have been closed for a while. This often happens.

The main floor is always packed and for the size of the gym there should be more equipment.

I have been a member since 2023 and when I called their sales department to try to upgrade my membership (single state) to a nationwide which is currently the same price I pay they said they can’t do it. I either have to pay the whole year upfront ($500) or cancel and open a new one which would mean paying the down payment and annual fee once again. They put not effort to help and as a result I’ll be leaving.

Misleading Sales Practices and
Poor Accountability
I'm deeply disappointed with my experience due to misleading sales practices. When I signed up, the salesperson assured me that the one-year membership could also be used by my family — a key reason I agreed to purchase it. However, after just one month, that salesperson left, and when I approached another representative, I was told that the arrangement was "only valid with the previous salesperson."
This left me stuck with a costly one-year subscription that didn't deliver what was promised.
It's unacceptable that a company can avoid responsibility for misleading information provided by their own staff. Customers deserve honesty, transparency, and accountability — not shifting blame and broken promises.

Awesome place. If you're looking for something particularly low-key this might not be for you (meaning if you don't like being looked at while you work out the way this gym is designed puts things on display pretty intentionally), but if you're looking for classes and great equipment and facilities look know further. It's extremely affordable in terms of bang for your buck and has a very high energy atmosphere that makes you wanna give it your all when you work out.

I really enjoy training at LA Fitness Bayonne. The gym is spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with a great variety of equipment for both strength and cardio. The staff is friendly and always willing to help, and the atmosphere is very motivating. It’s also very convenient to have different amenities like the sauna and group classes.

The only thing a good about this branch of LA Fitness is the personal master trainer, Irina. I have been working with her consistently every week for the last year and I consider myself a success story. When we first started, I could barely do a push-up. Through strength training, TRX, and body weight lifting, I have regained stability, strength, and flexibility. She was also generous with her nutritional advice about diet. Ask for a free consultation!

THIRD UPDATE: do you wonder why there is a national lawsuit against LA Fitness for making it difficult to cancel membership? Is there any wonder why? Look at the treadmills that need repair. Not one, not two, but three have been broken for months. In addition, about a month ago I asked about getting new workout mats. 4 weeks later, there are no good mats that are not ripped. Why would anyone want to work out here except for the fact that you're locked in?

SECOND UPDATE: As many other recent reviews mention, this place has deteriorated. The pool has been closed for weeks. Finally, the front desk told me it would be open "tomorrow". Tomorrow never came.

The gym looks amazing! Bella is very friendly as well. I think they need to put new lighting upstairs by the weights to make it brighter to see ourselves better.
