Lifetime Academy was an experience! Oh my God they have everything on deck! The sauna was heavenly, the massage chairs were next level, and the workout left me feeling amazing. The atmosphere was on 100 from the swimming pool to kickboxing and water acrobatics, everything was absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to go back! 💪

Low to no AC -it is hard to exercise like that. There is no consideration for customers who need to wear long sleeves due to religion. Please turn up your AC! Late afternoon- Night shift (women's locker room) staff look annoyed and unapproachable all the time. Showers smelly and dirty. Some hairdryers that barely work need to be replaced. If there are no improvements soon, I am definitely taking my money elsewhere.

Horrible attitude towards the members by the Swim managers - Joe and Maggie.
They have all but one swim lane blocked for private lessons, between the time of 4 and 8 PM. When I went in to find out if there was a solutions Maggie and Joe were extremely rude. They said oh why can you not come before your work starts in the morning. Or even the worst comment, why dont you buy yourself a swim lesson then you can have your own lane for 30 minutes. Another comment - do you not want children to learn swimming? I responded by letting them know that I have to work during the day is how my children could take lessons when they were young. Normal, unprivileged people work during the day.
The unit manager (Chris) takes the cake. He said ‘if you want to swim in the evening this is not the place for you’. He said the club has been telling members this for last 15 years. He further “helped me” by telling me to go to another swimming pool in the area, . I run a sales group, and I cannot imagine telling one of my upset customers that ours is not the right company for them and they should go some other place. No professionals do that. Amazing. This is terrible way of treating members like me who pay their high membership fees, and as a result these people have their jobs in the first place. Incredible. I guess these days most folks cna get away with whatever doing.

The team at the Berkeley Heights location is absolutely the best I’ve ever experienced! Everyone is so kind, patient, and truly takes the time to explain everything clearly. They went through all my benefits with me and made sure I understood everything I was entitled to.

Special thanks to Brandon, one of the supervisors! he was incredibly helpful, friendly, and made the whole process so much easier. If I could give more than 5 stars, I definitely would!

Even though the Bridgewater location is closer to me, I only go to Berkeley Heights because it’s 100% worth the extra drive. The staff there is amazing, unlike Bridgewater where my experience was terrible—it was always overcrowded even after 9pm, staff seemed rude and unhelpful, and super nasty.
The difference between the two locations is HUGE!!!

If you want excellent service and caring staff, Berkeley Heights is the place to go!

Excellent as a gym, clean locker rooms, lots of equipment. Pool is great, but sometimes people don’t want to share their lanes. I like the new desks with Wi-Fi that Lifetime has put in so in case you have a meeting right before or after a class, you can bring your laptop with you. Class instructors are friendly, yoga studio is great. In almost two decades of going to lifetime, I’ve never made a friend though. People seem to know each other from their life outside of Lifetime. I would love to find a way to be able to socialize with others. Make sure you arrive early to class, even if you have a reservation, that doesn’t mean anything if you arrive right at the class time since it’s really first come first served. Pickleball courts are always full and you have to sign up for a spot a week in advance.

The spa massage jets and foot massage at Lifetime have been broken for more than decade . Spa water pressure is extremely weak, providing no real massage effect. Foot and back messages not match on together , , For a premium fitness club, this is unacceptable. Members pay for a high-quality experience, yet this important facility has never been repaired. I strongly urge Lifetime to take immediate action to fix this issue.

This is the best Lifetime location. They treat you like family and remember you. Their manners politeness hospitality is top tier and genuine. The swim managers helped with my special needs client and their expertise and care was phenomenal. The lifeguards Josh and Abraham helped with his sensory needs and made him feel safe.

Brandon is the best that runs memberships! He was great with everything as well. Very transparent explaining memberships and keeping me informed of perks!

I love this place. Been coming here for 7-8 years. Chris Truffa the GM runs the gym like no other I've ever seen. The staff is like family.. All those negative reviews you see below have more to the story. The guy who said he was done at 12:00 and it was 12:03 and says he was putting on his shoes.. Bullship I was there the next day and heard about it you. The manager confronted you cause the gym closed at 12 and it was a holiday and you were super aggressive and rude. You should have gotten out and gone home so people can be with their family. The guy who brought a Rolex to the gym.. Sorry for your loss but who the hell brings a Rolex to the gym. Leave it in your glove compartment. And the employee who probably got fired and tries to make the gym wrong for closing swim lanes for a team, find another time to swim...

This place is truly the best gym concept in the US. Take care of it like it's your home and you'll enjoy state of the art equipment and the best mental wellness (spa equipment) you can find for the money.

Lifetime just raised monthly membership as of June 1st from $319 to $369 today. Not even 30 days notice. And Equinox in Summit is $225 per month, no initiation fee. What is going on? That is a 15% price increase. LTH reports earnings on May 8th, and is listed on the NYSE. Looks like with big price hikes on members, earnings will be good. But time to switch to Equinox!’

Great gym and classes and instructors are really good but gym oversubscribes the classes. If you aren’t there five minutes early, they can give away your spot which is not clear when you reserve. That is unusual in the fitness world. An 8 AM class should mean at 8 AM class not at 7:55 AM class. Penalize me for no show but if you pay the (high) dues and reserve and are on time I think you deserve a spot.

My husband just got robbed in this gym. They took his Rolex from the locker. That’s awful. Still waiting to watch cameras. Police got involved. Be careful. You pay all that money to get robbed…
Update: from the police report an individual entered with a membership into the gym. He had tools to break the lockers. The membership resulted to be under a fake name. So no serious identity control from the gym. Lifetime denied all responsibilities and now we got a lawyer involved. Apparently this happened in many of their locations. Notwithstanding that, they don’t inform any of their customers about presence of thief that have targeted their network.

This gym has the most ridiculous and unprofessional management I’ve ever encountered. Today, I was in the locker room at 12:00, finishing up after my workout. By 12:03, while I was putting on my shoes, I was approached and threatened with a ban if I stayed past 12:00 again. Apparently, this is some “new rule” from the general manager—one that was never communicated through the app or any other official channel.

Threatening paying members over an unannounced policy? Unacceptable. The lack of professionalism and basic respect here is astounding. I’ve been a loyal member, and this is how they treat people?

I only give this place a 5 star rating because of the exceptional service provided by Sharon. Her energy is consistently amazing, and her dedication and loyalty truly shine through. The level of customer service she provides is outstanding. As for the gym itself, it has a nice ambiance, although it may have a slightly dated feel reminiscent of the year 2008. Nonetheless, it still maintains its charm and remains a pleasant place to be.

Extremely disappointed with this gym! I pay soooo much for the family plan and my child can’t attend the daycare after 2pm on a Saturday because they are closed?! Are you kidding me? Any other gym has the daycare open all days on weekends so parents can enjoy the ONLY time they can go in the week. Ridiculous!
Also, I can’t take my kid to the outdoor pool in a 80F weather and instead are forced to stay indoors where your eyes hurt and burn just by being in this enclosed area-they are poisoning my child. Why can’t they be at the outdoor pool?! Absurd!
I’m taking my business elsewhere and having all my friends and family cancel their membership with this unreasonably overpriced gym.

They told me that I have to be modest today while sitting outside at their public pool. The manager walked up to me and claimed there has been “complaints” and that I cannot wear a thong bikini bottom because it’s a family area. I told them I pay the same amount as any of these families that come here and she said she would kick me out if i didn’t walk around in a towel the entire time!! This is beyond ridiculous if you have a problem seeing women in bikinis don’t go to the pool! Policing womens bodies shouldn’t be the job of management when people can just as easily avert their eyes.

The fitness center has officially lost its touch. It’s become a cattle farm, overcrowded, dirty, poor ventilation. It’s an absolute shame. I have been a member since the day the club opened, it has dramatically declined; the club has lost all of its pride and integrity. My one year anniversary just passed and I usually wait for a while to leave a review to make sure I don’t just leave reviews based on one day of going. Let’s say it didn’t start like I wanted to some confusion with some of the PT appointment last year that kept canceling my appointments. It has been better, I have tried every single class I believe and I have stayed with my favorites. Desis class, Tara (edge spinning) met several other trainers at events held at the gym. Megan is great! Sonya is amazing. Zaida who is new was able to help with me after another PT appointment debacle. I kept coming cause I made a lot of friends. All trainers are nice, the front people seems to know everyone haha lol I have left my glasses here 3 times and the tree times I’ve found them. Donna the custodian is a sweetheart! I recommend this gym 100% I know it’s hard to please everyone but if you don’t try the classes and get to know then coaches then maybe you should go to planet fitness instead lol IJS please thank them and do something nice for those who actually love doing their job!

I signed up online walked in checked in took my pic blah blah no direction nothing explained just here you go enter. No kids court for basketball they have a short basket on the sidelines of the adult court 😑. If your child is under 12 no hot tub which I understand some kids aren't behaved ( parenting ). Unless you have your kids sign up for classes not much for kids under 12 to do during the winter time. Florham park location blows this place out of the water. They need a worker in the basketball court because an adult told my kids to leave the kids basket lucky I was in the bathroom when that happened. Don't know how long I'll be a member maybe just the winter months. Or take the drive to Florham.....wonder why they get 3.8 stars

The staff on the other hand, needs a lot of help. I do not find the staff friendly or helpful. They act like they don't know anything and their behavior is questionable, it's borderline racist. This gym cost a lot of money, but the service feels like a glorified YMCA. As a Black woman, I don't appreciate convenient misunderstandings where I look bad or get embarrassed. The tacky staff have already stopped me at the entrance and accused me of lapsing on my membership, stating that my gym membership was canceled, which it was NOT. On another occasion, I was told that the system show that I owe $20, which I DID NOT. I have a card stored on file for purchases, however, a few days ago, they did not want to charge my card for a service without me physically showing the card.🤔😡 The Audacity!! I find this treatment racist and unnecessary. These staff members need to get a grip on reality. I am paying them for service, however they seem to think it's the other way around. They're so delusional that they felt that I was in the wrong for not wanting to be stopped. They did not even apologize for the inconvenience, instead they felt like I should just be patient while they pushed me around. They stated that they were trying to help me, however they need to help themselves figure out how to do a good job.

Very bothered by the sloppy service 😩☹️. Trust me, I joined this expensive gym for my health and wellness, I did not join to be stressed out or harassed.

I've been going here for almost a year now. Out of nowhere this old white woman [studio staff member] tells me to turn my music off, so I did without an issue and respectfully.

She then kicks me out. Keep in mind the studio is empty. Then she continues on to say "I don't go into Dunkin Donuts and start playing music."

Joined the gym 10 days ago and cannot wait to leave. Good classes and friendly staff and for the rest I cannot give any stars. Unhygienic environment everywhere from pool to equipment.

I have been to many gyms cheap and expensive in many places and countries and this is by far the worst, especially for almost $200 per month.

The facilities are slightly outdated but not bad, however, the place is not kept clean, no cleaning staff on the gym floor or pool area and in such a busy gym with hundreds of people every day it’s the best place to catch any germs possible including Covid.

In addition, there are lots of people with little sense of hygiene, for instance, going to steam room fully clothed and sweaty after a work out or coming from outside with the dirty shoes and also fully clothed to the sauna. Many people don’t know that they have to take the shower before using pool or wash their hands after using the restroom and that’s only the ladies facility I have experienced. The showers are dirty and never seem to be cleaned. Some people don’t wipe their equipment after sweating all over it and I never seen the equipment being wiped by cleaning team.
The pool is open for adults only from 5 am to probably 6 am the rest of the time there are too many children or teenagers that chose it as their hanging spot. There are two hot tubs and 1 hasn’t been working since I joined and there is no sign of it be fixed any time soon. The hot tub supposed to be for 12 years old and over but I saw toddlers in the nappies playing in there. There’s no one in the pool area to supervise and ask toddlers not to play in the hot tub.
The large pool had very murky water, possibly because of all the pee in it and lots of dirt at the bottom! After such experiences I don’t think I’d use swimming pool ever in here and I have tried to use facilities on number of occasions and different times but every time the pool area was filthy.
Yoga matts smell of dirty feet and I don’t think they are ever washed properly.

Five Stars! I've been a very happy member for the past 18 months. This club is expertly managed. You're always greeted at check-in by friendly front desk staff. I like this place a lot but the cafe service has gone south. Today around 7:45 pm I ordered a sandwich which took 25min (more than the time it take me to get there) to prep and the personnel were not decent enough to let me know in advance or even apologize properly. Love it! LifeTime is my new gym family. Great facilities, cool trainers, the environment is super friendly and the gym is always clean. In addition their schedule is super flexible, they close at 12 am! Love it!

I gave this rating due to their lack of response for my request of service. I contacted this life time club 1 month ago to book my daughter’s birthday party. She is turning 6. I called, emailed and visited in person. Their staff either don’t respond or just told me they are not able to reserve a spot for all kinds of reasons. In the mean time, I saw this club hosted at least five parties in August. They even scheduled a party as far as October. All staff I talked to just told me they can not do anything. how hard is it to just block a time? My daughter heard they can not confirm a party for us and became upset. She thought it is her fault. I can only tell her it is because the staff at Life time Berkeley heights are incapable of helping us. And it is not her fault.

We had extremely horrible experience with the pool management today. Since none of our young kids have been vaccinated, my family had always been trying to stay in the (indoor) leisure pool so that the social distancing could be reasonably maintained. However, immediately after a crowd of people entered the indoor pool from the outdoor pool due to the unexpected thunderstorm this afternoon, my family (with three kids) were rudely forced to leave the leisure pool to accommodate more adult swimmers. It was obvious that the pool management simply ignored our safety concerns regarding the unvaccinated kids and our request for staying in the pool to avoid the crowds. The manager even threatened to pull our kids out of the pool immediately. Lifetime should seriously consider finding a new manager who is willing to accommodate unvaccinated children.

Signed up for a student membership for $120 a month. No email or anywhere on the app to tell me i need to verify. No email from lifetime asking to do anything. 30 days later i get a email saying membership has gone to $140 a month. Funny how you get emails saying they are ipping your dues but none to save you money. Read the other reviews. Company is money hungry and probably hoped i missed the email or wouldnt follow up. Thats how they get you. Track your money and dues if you sign up

We have been here for nine years. I am 56 years old and I have been two different gyms since I was 17. No need to look any further. This gym as well run and very professional. Everybody greets you with a smile. The trainers are very knowledgeable and always willing to help anyone who needs. Great facility for all age groups.

Love these gym. It is so nice for a beginner. Everyone is super nice and helpful. I was doing one of the machines wrong and man came over and helped me. Not condescending or rude just helpful. Also the personal trainers are always helpful even for just a simple question.

I've been to a couple of Life Time gyms through out NJ and this one by far has the poorest and rudest customer service. Front desk people won't even say hello to you and make it seem like a bother to scan you in.

I've been a member for close to 10 years. I just decided to cancel and was told you have to either come to the club in-person during office hours or send a CERTIFIED LETTER by mail to cancel. (and no, you can't cancel through their online portal) Outrageous.

UPDATE: Contrary to Lifetime's reply on this review, the manager at the time repeatedly insisted that ONLY a certified letter would be accepted and I don't appreciate the attempt at revisionist history.

Had an appointment for a massage at 6:30 when they close at 8 but the spa decided to close early since it wasn’t busy enough... maybe because majority of the people are working at that time. It’s just frustrating that they don’t even give you a courtesy call letting you know they will be closing early. Drove all the way there to find out. Maybe update the website too...

They’re going above and beyond on safety protocol and I’m impressed. We’ve been visiting the pool and the routines from check-in to poolside are solid. The other guests are also very cooperative, so I’d say it’s about as safe an environment as I could expect. There’s touchless temp checks at the front door now. Nice job, Team Lifetime.
