Life Time Princeton, NJ – deeply unsafe and humiliating experience for a longtime member.

On 11/25/25 around 7:30 pm, I had an extremely distressing experience at the Life Time gym in Princeton that left me feeling publicly humiliated, unsafe, and completely disrespected as a paying member. I was finishing an important phone call in a very low tone as I walked into the women’s sauna when another female member suddenly approached me and began yelling at me aggressively in front of multiple women, speaking to me in a demeaning, degrading way as if she had authority over me.
I did not yell back or threaten her; I calmly told her she was not my boss and had no right to speak to me that way. Despite that, the situation became extremely hostile and humiliating, especially given the vulnerable setting of the women’s sauna and the number of witnesses.

What made everything far worse was the staff response. A female supervisor came over and, instead of approaching the situation neutrally or listening to my side, immediately treated me as if I was the problem, refused to hear my account, and told me to leave the premises right away while I was still naked in a towel and it was raining outside, making me feel like a criminal instead of a longtime paying member.

At no point did anyone acknowledge that I had been loudly yelled at and degraded by another member; I was simply blamed, dismissed, and removed by the very person who should have ensured a safe and respectful environment. This experience was emotionally upsetting and has seriously damaged my sense of safety and comfort at this club.
I am sharing this so potential members, especially women, understand how profoundly mishandled this situation was and how little support I felt when I was targeted in a shared space.

No member should be screamed at in a communal area and then treated by staff as if they are the offender when they calmly stand up for basic dignity.

I restarted my journey here in August with a trial. Needless to say I was hooked again. I have to say that at almost 20lbs down, a huge part of the recipe was a special spin instructor- Lisa Ronco. I do not think I would have joined if not for her. I found myself stuck in a unhealthy way of life and down on myself for so long. Lisa is so motivating, entertaining, shares her own journey and just always leads by example. I finally look forward taking care of myself and look forward to my classes with her. It may sound cliche or corny but she has truly been a part of changing my life for the better. Thank you deeply!!

On another note: Can the women's locker room PLEASE get a cold plunge like the Men's Locker room? Only fair since we are paying the same rate :-) lol that's all for now. Thanks!

Ashley - Attached picture is an email sent to me by your account management team where they have shared an email address of another lifetime member. The clients name is Simon E. For privacy reasons, I have hidden the clients email address. Lifetime repeatedly violates privacy laws and exudes unethical behavior. I have sent a text messages to Melissa Mancheno where she can see the email address of the client, hence, you can easily trace the email chain and train your barbaric account management team. I tried forwarding the email to you and your firewall blocked my email stating its on hold since the email includes an email address. This is concerning. I will have a lawyer send you a formal letter as well. Since I have emails like this in the past where another member email address is shared by your account management team. You should train your employees and hire folks with right educational background versus bruit force workers who work without thinking since Ashley has got their back.

So the monthly fee started off at $125 and is now $170. To add to that the majority treadmill digital screens don't work. I've asked half a dozen times and still they don't work. UPDATE...TREADMILLS STILL 50% not working. What are we paying for?
FINAL UPDATE. The dues are now close to $250 per month. Secondly, the place is nowhere near as clean as it was in the beginning and there's no parking available. I surrendered my membership. I'm now paying $40 monthly at Powerhouse Gym in bridgewater.

WOWWW lifetime members beware of this location. Below lifetime bridge water responded to a recent complaint that they only charge 260 a month for memberships yet they increased my rates this may (as a longtime member mind you) to 300 a month citing the need for “renovations” and “updates” at the bridge water location. They also told members who they increased rates for (see email below) that the price for new members is 350 a month but in these reviews they are responding saying it’s only 260! So either they are lying about prices to unsuspecting customers or they are ripping off and scamming longtime loyal customers and charging them higher rates. They will do anything here to take your money. They also lied to me and told me that I could not switch my membership to an employer sponsored program without a big hassle to try to scam even more money out of me! I went to another location 3 months later and they said they could do it asap and that nothing this location told me was accurate. As well not sure what updates they are increasing rates for or where this money is going as this location is more crowded and run down then ever.

It is increasingly obvious that they don't care about their members. Just as an example, the outdoor pool remains open for adults only in September, however unlike most other life time locations, they stopped providing basic amenities, like towels and cleaning. They also stopped heating the pool, because why should their members be comfortable?

Edit in response: The pool is kept clean, the grounds and chairs are not. The towels are no longer outside and easy to access.

Gorgeous gym and amazing pickleball community, shoutout to Donna who was very patient to explain to me what’s going on and how it all works. Had a blast playing the other day. Definitely have to book in advance - no back to back sessions, nominal no show fee applies even if you’re waitlisted then get in automatically so be aware. As long as you’re updated 2 hours before the session starts you’re good. Fair warning - The steam room is killer hot which I love. Enjoy! I love coming to this gym

I’m writing to share the worst experience I’ve ever had at a salon—specifically at the Life Time Hair Salon in Bridgewater with a stylist named Emily.

I first met Emily on Friday, August 22, 2025, when I stopped by to book an appointment to address my grey hair. The receptionist highly recommended her, assuring me she was very skilled. Based on that, we scheduled my appointment for today, August 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

When I arrived, the receptionist greeted me and called Emily over to begin the session. From the start, Emily was dismissive and condescending, speaking to me in an unnecessarily loud and rude tone. I was barely able to express what I wanted before she launched into a lecture about the differences between highlights, lowlights, grey hair, and salt-and-pepper coloring—without taking a moment to listen or understand my needs.

I told her I might have used the wrong terms and asked for a second to show her a photo of myself from a few years ago to better communicate the look I was going for. Instead of working with me, Emily bluntly stated that what I wanted couldn’t be done today, that we’d already used up 30 minutes of the appointment, and that my request would require 3–4 hours—while only 90 minutes remained.

At that point, it became clear this appointment was not going anywhere. Emily made no effort to explain alternatives, offer a solution, or help me understand how we might work toward the look I wanted. Her communication was dismissive, and I felt completely unheard. It was the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in a professional setting.

Eventually, I said, “I’m done—I don’t think we’re on the same page,” and walked out.

As a Life Time member for the past year at both the Red Bank and Bridgewater locations, I’ve always appreciated the high standards upheld across the club. This salon experience, however, fell far short of that level of professionalism and respect.

I left feeling frustrated, humiliated, and deeply disappointed.

I love this gym but getting anyone to answer the phone from swim is nearly impossible. Ive actually never had anyone call me back or answer my call in the first place. My grandfather passed and I completely forgot to call and say I couldnt make it that week bc of funeral services. So i call the day before no answer and the morning when I know no classes have started and the pool is certainly open. No answer no call back no nothing. Today I’m not feeling well and what am i supposed to do? Go to the gym and cancel it in person. I pay so much money for my daughter to be in swim and I just wanna make sure I get properly credited for my two missed classes over the 5 months ive been doing it

Don’t bother signing up here. The management uses upgrading the air conditioning (a basic for a gym) as an excuse to raise the membership fee. They also have extensive classes that take up most of the squat racks. I was told to pound salt when I complained.

The gym is extensively packed from 4pm-9pm as well so good luck getting your workout done around the under 25 crowd.

Terrible management policies with respect to the studio (multipurpose room) space. My personal experience with the studio manager Heidi was negative as she was rude and patronizing.

Lifetime Bridgewater does not allow members to use the studio space for their own private workouts, stretches, dancing etc. This policy is not consistent among other Lifetime locations in NJ, which DO allow you to use the studios when there are no classes in them.

For a membership that cost north of $200 a month, you should be able to use the entirety of the gym's facilities. Lifetime management should consider a change in policy at the Bridgewater location. I have been told various reasons as to why you are not allowed to use the studios in Bridgewater, the last of which stated it is in order to keep them "clean". Management should consider looking to other Lifetime locations as "models of success" where faculty frequently pass through the studio and clean while members simply move out of the way if necessary.

The parking and reservation experience cannot be worse! They require you to show up 5 minutes before the class for your RESERVED spot, but DOES NOT offer enough parking spaces. When you are showing up literally 9 SECONDS pass the 5 minutes mark, after battling a parking space for 15 MINUTES!!! they gave away your reserved spots to walk-ins. What a joke!

Like many of the recent reviews, Please fix parking (in the last 3 weeks I have tried to park here 6 times and could not find a spot, Please fix the high schoolers who completely consume machines like it's their high school football gym, and the fact that you can't cancel a class a few hours before is crazy! This is supposed to be a luxury gym that we all pay $250 a month for. most of the time you cannot even sign up for a class. What is the point of having a gym that you can't even park in or use. The only benefit here is signing up for a class to use the gym or pool

This location is too crowded. And increasingly feels like a hangout for high school kids. It’s an irritating high school gym vibe and not a premium lifestyle club experience. The fitness staff are friendly and supportive. The front desk staff are NOT receptive of feedback. They could do well to limit schedule for the teen and young adult members. I seriously wonder if they are adhering to code for number of people on the gym floor. There are times of day where it is difficult to simply walk down the aisles between the machines. They need to also promote some guideline of behavior and noise in the locker rooms particularly for the teenagers. Perhaps a primary member or parents accompanying requirement. The gym right now is NOT a premium experience. It’s mostly teenagers being teenagers on the workout floor and in the locker gym. Severely disappointing experience. And some of the members are saying it’s worse at other nearby locations such as Princeton. Their business model would appear to be maximizing number of members with little regard to anything else. Doubt much will change until they lose members who can actually pay for membership and not the children of members who may not use the gym.

Dear Lifetime Team,
I’m reaching out because I’ve become increasingly unhappy with the noticeable decline in the quality of the gym experience at Lifetime. The fitness environment and lifestyle that was presented to us when we became members has markedly diminished.
I was unable to finish my workout tonight due to extreme overcrowding—particularly around the strength equipment. The gym has increasingly become dominated by large groups of high school and college-aged males who congregate around machines and often monopolize them for extended periods. As a professional in my fifties, I find this atmosphere not only frustrating but also intimidating. Members should not be made to feel uneasy about asking others to share equipment, yet that’s often the reality in these situations. I’m sure you can appreciate how uncomfortable it is to be in my shoes—approaching a group of four or five young men hovering around a machine just to ask if I can work in.
This pattern is not just inconvenient—it’s altering the culture of the gym entirely. What was marketed to us as a premium fitness lifestyle has begun to feel more like a neighborhood “men’s gym” with limited regard for the needs of a broader membership base. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to move through a workout efficiently and safely, especially during peak times. Even with my personal trainer, we’ve had to alter our planned workouts multiple times because the necessary equipment was in constant use.
We are paying a significant membership fee for what is supposed to be a premium, balanced experience. I imagine this isn’t aligned with what the Lifetime brand is intended to represent. I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously and consider implementing solutions to ensure that all members—regardless of age or fitness level—can enjoy the space comfortably and safely. As I am not alone in feeling the Lifetime environment has changed, it would be worthwhile to speak with a broader range of members.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We’ve been members at Lifetime Fitness Bridgewater and are paying a substantial monthly fee, expecting at least a basic level of reliability and respect for our planning. As parents of a baby, attending a group class requires a lot of coordination. We book the class several days in advance, we schedule daycare to align perfectly, and we plan our entire day around being there on time.

Today, we dropped our child off at the **Lifetime daycare—**which had a line—causing a delay that was completely out of our control. We were still at the facility on time and showed up to the class 5 minutes early. But despite booking ahead and doing everything right, we were told our spot was given away.

So now we ask: whose fault is that? We followed the process, arrived on time, and were delayed only because of internal wait times at Lifetime’s own daycare. Yet, we’re the ones penalized?

It’s incredibly frustrating to put in so much effort—especially with a baby—and be told it doesn’t matter. Members who book in advance and are present at the facility should not be bumped for walk-ins because of a poorly coordinated system.

We expected better from a brand that claims to be family-friendly and charges a premium for it.

Kicked out my autistic kids from kids club 10 mins in & said they aren’t “ structured “ not sure what that mean but they hurt my 3 year old feelings because walking back to the car he asked “is it because I’m different “ but I asked them do they handle kids with disabilities and staff said YES . I’m definitely cancelling my membership after that. It hurts to see my kid understand mistreatment especially when you’re paying $400 a month to this place and only needed 40 mins of him being watched while I workout.

The staff in charge of pickleball at this facility were incredibly rude and disrespectful toward my father and me. Their behavior was not only unprofessional but also prejudiced. Just because my father has an accent and doesn’t fit a certain perception of what an “American” should look like does not give anyone the right to treat us with condescension. I’m sorry that, as human beings, we don’t fit into your convoluted image of what is acceptable and what is not, but that is your ignorance to fix—not ours to bear.

If discrimination is part of your approach, you have no place working at Life Time. I strongly urge you to educate yourselves and reflect on your biases—it’s both shameful and disappointing to see such behavior in 2025. At the end of the day, it’s just pickleball; there’s no excuse for projecting so much hostility.

I also came across another review mentioning favoritism among staff and instructors at this facility, and I couldn’t agree more. Additionally, I read a Change.org petition regarding the Life Time in Princeton, which detailed alleged bias from the general manager and pickleball director toward an Asian man. Given my experience, I find this entirely believable.

Life Time should be a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. I hope leadership takes action to address these ongoing issues.

I used to love this place, but an experience I had recently really rubbed me the wrong way.

I had reserved a spot for a 9:30 AM class. That morning, I was running a bit late since I had stayed overnight at the hospital with a loved one - life happens. Still, I made it just in time, arriving at 9:27 AM with three minutes to spare. But when I went to my reserved spot, I found that someone else had taken it.

The person told me that the instructor had given her the spot because, apparently, any unoccupied spots five minutes before class starts are reassigned to those in the standby line. But if that’s the case, what’s the point of making a reservation?

I was beyond frustrated. I understand that Lifetime class policy states: “Please arrive prior to the start of class. Stations that remain open at the start of class will be first come, first served to members in the standby line.” I did arrive prior to the start of class—cutting it close, sure, but still on time. Nowhere did it say that reserved spots would be given up five minutes before class started.

I left feeling disappointed and honestly betrayed.

Great place overall. My only concern is that some class instructors seem to show noticeable favoritism toward certain members. As a woman of color, I’m no stranger to strange looks, ignorant attitudes, and even bigoted comments—but I didn’t expect to encounter that here at Life Time. This should be a space where everyone feels welcome and included, regardless of their background.

People come from all walks of life, and it’s easy to make assumptions or be prejudiced based on first impressions. But I’d encourage the staff, especially instructors, to keep an open mind and treat everyone with the same level of respect and fairness. Life Time should be a safe haven where people can work out, feel comfortable, and enjoy themselves without bias.

On another note, why does only the men’s locker room have a cold plunge?

The best Lifetime location of the three I frequent. Florham Park is more family oriented and has a rock wall, Berkeley Heights is nice as well but because of the open ceiling it’s loud as heck.

The Bridgewater location is the perfect balance for families and adults. It’s super clean and the group fitness instructors are fantastic particularly those teaching GTX, Alpha and Ultrafit. They are invested in you not getting hurt and take teaching the movements seriously.

Edit:
Date: Oct 25th 2024 - The gym has become a shadow of its former self, although I acknowledge that group classes are still quite decent. If you are in and out for group classes then it still might be worth it for you.

I never imagined that this gym could become overcrowded, especially considering the high fees, but that has unfortunately happened. The new crowd seems to be inconsiderate, recording with phones everywhere and becoming easily frustrated when having to share equipment.

Additionally, the swimming program has not seen the improvements I had hoped for, and there is a high turnover of instructors.

Date: Sep 7th 2023 - Unfortunately, I have to rate this club a 1 star. The swimming section is the worst. While the facility seemed decent initially, since then, our experience has only gone downhill. My kids have not progressed in her abilities in over 6 months. Constant change in instructors, new instructors who continue to teach skills that she already has mastered, has been the main issue. There is no consistency or plan to track the progress of anyone taking lessons. We have spoken to the schedulers on multiple occasions and even to the owner to try and get this sorted, but to no avail. Instructors can cancel the class at the last minute, but when you want to change, they ask for a medical certificate.

Other areas of the club have also become overcrowded. Wait times have become longer and longer. Management who was enthusiastic earlier does not even respond to emails or concerns anymore.

Edit
Date: Oct 3rd 2019: After being a member for 3 months, I have to change my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars. Lifetime proved worthy of the big price. The gym is expansive and I never found any equipment busy. Their group classes are amazing. Instructors are very professional and love what they do. I never used to go to group classes earlier but now I only go to group classes. If ever there is a dark spot I would say instructors for the yoga classes are not up to the mark.

I’ve been a founding since 2019. I really love it here, you get everyone you need out of a lifestyle fitness center but every year this place just gets worse and more crowded.

Cons:
- super crowded no matter when you come
- not enough equipment to accommodate the number of members. for example: only one smith machine and not enough area for floor work/dumbbell floor workouts, and we are unable to utilize fitness rooms while classes are not in place. Even if there were hour blocks where members were able to use the studio rooms when not blocked for classes would help a lot.
- not as clean as they’ve been in the past. Woman’s locker room toilets and sinks aren’t well maintained and sauna has a foul smell.
-prices keep going up on not only memberships but food, and services, which I understand but if you’re going to up the prices do not lack in maintenance

Some positives: classes are truly an amazing experience and great workouts

There are way more professional places worth your money. Definitely, not this over-rated club. Spend your money Outside, maybe New Sport with a team have some Spirit. Not the same boring pretentious ones….

So Lifetime participates in the Renew Active program that United Healthcare offers its Medicare subscribers. I was thrilled when I was able to join for free in January 2023. I loved the Arora classes geared toward mature adults. I loved the teachers, I loved this gym and felt so appreciative that I could get a free membership through my Medicare Supplement plan. Not long after I joined, they took away the free pickleball for the Medicare members unless you were willing to pay $120 per month. I was happy when they announced that they had renewed their contract with UHC . Then in January 2024, they limited the hours that the Medicare members could use the gym unless they paid $120 per month. Then yesterday I received an email saying that they were now taking away the pool privileges unless we pay $120 per month. So I said screw it and canceled my membership. It’s the principle of the matter. They are treating the Medicare members as second class people. I feel like they are making it clear that we aren’t welcome there. Obviously, they aren’t being paid enough by UHC to make it worth their while. So they shouldn’t have renewed the contract. Meanwhile, I find it demeaning to lose 3 privileges in less than a year. I’m sure some of the Medicare members can afford $120 per month, but not most. Too bad.

Lifetime fitness is the most expensive gym in the Somerset county area.
Unfortunately my feelings have changed since signing up upon the grand opening.

I as well as the majority of the people who lift weights and don't just sit on there phones and work out, have complained about the poor air flow on the third floor.

I have voiced my concern since the health club had opened after covid allowed the gyms to re open.

The dumbbells smell like burnt plastic, the machines are soaked with sweat from members, who can break a sweat by just staring at the weights.

Numerous complaints never reach the top, you can speak to the manager but it doesn't do anything. Empty promise after empty promise. Sounds like lifetime is alittle too corporate these days.

We can't get proper airflow, but we can pay more and more each year.. hopefullly this reached corporate, because It's been 2 years with no response.

Going into year 3, no repairs to air conditioning on 3rd floor. Price increase every few months. Lifetime says they'll fix or have fixed it.

This club has taken a toll for the worst I have watched members record other members who are naked in the locker rooms. I addressed it with staff and nothing was done. I find that to be repulsive. Everyone stay away from this gym and if luxury is what you crave check out Equinox.

I've been in this gym since the beginning. I felt in love ! Im really love it ! They tried to keep this place clean and nice!
But beginning really annoying, some things,
the cost increases at a breakneck speed and you are never surprised when you see new prices!
Well, when you arrive in gym free parking is simply impossible to find and this is a fact that is really starting to get annoying! They don’t care at all, they just add and add people, there is already less air in gym , the reason why people go is because they really live for sports and we have no choice, corporations take advantage of this and don’t even try to do anything, unfortunately!

The Club is nice. But the pickleball waiting list rule sucks.
When less than 18 people show up, they don’t let people on waiting list to play. So people all rush to sign up but may or may not show up. Bad for people who really want to play and follow sign up rules honestly.

No parking available today. Had to miss my class and workout from home as they have grossly oversold memerships. I live 25 min away. Dues have gone up 100 dollars in 4 years and I am a founding member. No additional perks to counteract the raising fees (can’t even offer like one free shake a month or something?) Don’t forget that men are the only sex that are allowed recovery as they have been gifted a cold plunge in their locker room. Women have to resort to the overcrowded cold pool for any body healing. They try to monetize everything. The lounge at one point went from being free to a fee to free again during Covid. The two best yoga instructors are gone. Retired people with certain insurance plans get their memberships free so you’re fighting for spots against people who don’t have to pay an arm and a leg. This place has changed. On my last leg here.

“Too big to fail”, operationally inept, and tone-deaf to reality/experience of “founding” members. Or they truly don’t care. Not sure which is worse.
Not at all as-advertised, especially for the cost - which increases constantly while member experience only ever gets worse due to continued overcrowding.
Corporate greed too flush to stop selling memberships.
Trainers and Instructors are great but can’t make classes cuz there’s nowhere to park!
Management only responds to positive web reviews and pays to hide negative reviews.

Stop raising my membership, this is the 4th time and again.. they didn’t notify me. I’ve been a member for roughly 5 years, originally started at the Princeton facility, started going to Bridgewater when they finally opened. It used to be way nicer, now it’s ridiculously overcrowded and they keep raising my membership every few months. This is becoming ridiculous. That doesn’t even include the amount of classes they have on the third floor and they just take up so much of the equipment. I thought the second floor was supposed to be dedicated to classes. It feels like I pay so much yet the amount of equipment I have access to keeps becoming more and more limited.

I begrudgingly come to this gym now.
It has become so disappointing.

Locker rooms are dirty with their showers full of scummy soap and nasty drain flies. The sauna is slowly falling apart and needs a vacuuming.

The 3rd floor by the machines and free weights is still SO HOT and uncomfortable after over FOUR YEARS. Please put a giant fan or something (probably goes against their private jet-setting WWE championship belt-wearing CEO’s gym aesthetics though).
Dumbbells are loose. Rusted rough kettlebells. Machines are sticky and gross, stained carpets by the treadmills.

Kids Academy… what do I have to say? There was a disturbing viral incident in another LT location became public and the company swept it under the rug (typical for their management, it is their M.O.), and noticing new, different employees every time kids needed to be dropped off, it’s become sketchy. I would hesitate to drop my young child here.

I wish there was another gym that would knock this one down a few pegs. The facility needs a good humbling. They get away with their high rates and lack of action from their lazy and useless management in improving their mistakes because they are the only decent gym in the area.

At first, the gym will look great. Use most of their premium equipment and machines. They are pretty nice. But examine more closely and you’ll see that they skimp out on things it seems. They add new flat benches with less cushion which makes a big difference with heavier weight. We pay so much so they can use lower quality? Wouldn’t you want your gym to have more airflow? Especially at a place where so much human waste is floating around? Go to the lockers and baths and you’ll see flies all year.

I enjoyed certain aspects of lifetime Bridgewater; the delicious cafe, the excellent spa services, and the classes. That being said, I felt the membership was overpriced for just me/ one person. I just cancelled my membership because my favorite aspects of the club are ad-ons that I had to buy on top of what I already pay. I didn’t feel like I got enough bang for my buck.

This review is ONLY for the kids club. Wanted to share an experience I had last week there. Dropped my kids off at the kids club for about 1.5 hours. The lady at the front desk had a pretty stoic face on. Not friendly. Took my kids in and upon pick up she informed us that my kids went to an area they weren't supposed to go.

Upon speaking to my kids, I find out that a worker in a red shirt GAVE them permission to go into this gymnastic room that they weren't supposed to go into. Then when they were found in there, another person in a red shirt told them they couldn't pay in there. This is when my daughter who is very sensitive started crying thinking she did something wrong.

And guess what? While she was crying none of the workers cared or was there for her. They just left her be. My oldest son tried to explain that they had gotten permission to be in the gymnastic room but the lady at the front desk couldn't care. She had no sympathy for the kids and when one cried just left her be.

This is what you get for a child care service inside a supposedly nice gym.

Do better. How can parents trust and leave their kids to work out if all the workers don't even care about the kids? My son says please don't ever drop him off at the child care as this gym again because no one cares about the kids.

Kids know. They are very honest.

As others have commented, the 3rd floor has become so overcrowded!! Groups of 3-4 on the machines/equipment, in no hurry and no consideration for the amount of time they are on the same machine. The younger groups are the biggest offenders of gym etiquette…Also do not appreciate members that use or attempt to use multiple machines at the same time.. the club is way too crowded for that!! Leaving your water bottle and cell phone on the machine does not count as a “reserved” spot for you.

These behaviors go completely unchecked by the staff, and the club management expects members to self manage the situation. This is clearly not working. For $197 a month, I expect more of a direct hands on management team to ensure a positive member experience.

After 8:00pm (after most of the staff has left) is when the environment gets unbearable. I have contacted corporate and they bounce you back to the club management team. The standard cookie cutter response… “we appreciate your feedback”… “we will take your comments into consideration”. The result = NO CHANGE/IMPROVEMENT!

Been here since they’re opened. Honestly, I would’ve given this facility 5 stars in the past. Not so much now.

The entire gym and especially the 3rd floor cardio and weights area becomes a zoo during peak hours during the week. Memberships were definitely oversold here. There are 12 squat racks and most of them get reserved during peak times in the am and pm, making it harder for one to have an effective workout. It is ANNOYING to have to modify your workout because you’re waiting for a machine or rack to be available. So many people get visibly frustrated. Small group classes were great until it got too expen$ive and workouts became monotonous.

There is a pickle ball court here now that replaced a basketball court, don’t get the hype so I don’t have much input about it but seems to be super popular among the members. Also don’t have much to say about the cycling and other classes on the 2nd floor other than they seem rather cliquey but everyone looks like they enjoyed themselves when leaving the rooms. Pilates is meh. The yoga here, however, is good. Robyn, Stephanie, Christina, Nancy Brit, and Jessica V. are all pleasant instructors.

Yuki and Sharama are the best massage therapists at the Spa.

Women’s locker room has become much cleaner again. Please make note to not be forgetful and leave your personal belongings here overnight, I learned the hard way. Months ago, the attendant played dumb when I asked for my missing items and she said nothing was found (she was working the day before). Not surprisingly, this particular individual no longer worked there soon after. Management, especially the general manager, seems to be entirely aloof in their role, especially when vetting and hiring people, given the high turnover rate of employees in certain jobs in this location.

Ever since this company went public on the NYSE, things have gone downhill. Milking members out of their hard-earned money with fees and increasing prices. Becoming more stuffier and corporate.
It was good while it lasted.

With the water main break you should have just remained closed. Give people their money back for the couple days you were closed. The fact you thought it was okay to open the gym without water fountains, bathrooms, showers, and towels is shocking. Sauna and jacuzzi I can do without for a couple visits but you guys know better than to open a facility of that size without running water. You should have closed and gave people vouchers or their money back but of course that would mean you would have to give some money back which we all know money only flows one way when it comes to the customer. Also this club is massively oversold. Too many people. Stop selling memberships for a little while please.

Not loving that you shrunk the floor for training machines (like you did in the other facilities). Now everybody is on top of each other. Seems like you are catering to the crowd that shows up for 3 months a year. I'd complain to GM but I'm pretty sure this is a directive from corporate. If I was looking at what area has more people per SQ ft (after cardio and classes)it would be the resistance machines. Getting awfully crowded and expensive

Although the many facilities and services at lifetime my experience has not been great. The gym has many up to date equipment and lots of different machines. It seems there is only 1 of most machines so the waiting is more then time spent then actually working out. With all the high demand for certain machines especially cables I believe there should be more of the most used machines. Most times I am waiting for a machine it is occupied by large groups of people simply talking and hanging out barely using the equipment. When I am just trying to get a basic workout in this can be frustrating. I believe there needs to be change because Lifetime used to be an incredible place but the gym is becoming very hard to use.

At first lifetime was well worth it with the super nice facilities and up to date gym equipment; however recently i find it hard to have a good experience. Now I am constantly waiting for every machine and cable. With a gym of this size one cable tower is not enough. Most times large groups are hanging out on machines while people are trying to workout. I personally think this gym would better from another cable tower with all the people it brings in.

A year ago I left a 5 star review. I've decided to adjust that now. This facility is very overcrowded. I generally workout anywhere between 7am and 11am. Always have to wait for machines or adjust my workouts.
Forget playing basketball because there's only one court now and about 100 people who want to play at the same time, every day of the week. Forget getting into a cycling class... On a Saturday or Sunday there's about 40 people on the wait list and they fill up almost a week beforehand. Forget getting a decent parking spot... slip away from work on a Friday afternoon and get a good pump? You're going to be walking from the back of the parking lot. Please understand that charging people $200 per month is absolutely ridiculous with the overcrowding of the facility. Something has to be done other than just raising the rate so that people can't afford being members. Sell different memberships that are allowed in the club at different times, when people are signing up ask their preferred workout times, limit the number of members of the club, offer memberships that don't include classes at all or ones that exclusively include classes.

There's just something about being in a small, non well-kept sauna with 12 to 15 other guys that doesn't feel right.

Beautiful facility, but it lacks in a lot of places. They tell you when you tour the place that the fitness classes that utilize the squat racks are NOT run during peak times, but this is a flat out lie. As a result, 12 squat racks become 4 during the week, thus increasing the already crowded gym density. Not sure how other people haven't complained about this.
They 100% oversold memberships, good luck finding parking during peak times.
Again though it has a lot of positives, but they can get away with continuously raising prices because they are one of the few fitness facilities in the area with comparable amenities. If there was an LA fitness in the area this place would be forced to make changes, but unfortunately that is not the case.
Great amenities, but the gym itself is weak due to the overcrowding as well as classes that utilize the core gym during peak times (think between 5-8 pm during the week).

Really disappointed to hear that they are fully converting one of the basketball courts to a full time pickle ball court. This is the reason I, and many others I know of, joined Lifetime. I don't see an issue with having open pickleball play for a few hours (4-6 hours) everyday in the morning and then evenings but no one is playing pickleball past 9pm (especially on weekend evenings) or late afternoons (when all the high school kids come to play basketball). I have been to this gym on the courts during all sorts of hours (early morning, midday, late afternoon, evenings and late nights on both weekdays and weekends). The parent of the birthday boy was so upset and is definitely bringing everything to management. As a guest I’m upset for her and calling tomorrow during business hours. I've been a member here for 3 months and was going back and forth between a 2 and 3 star review. Honestly, for me, it's probably 2 stars, but maybe my situation is atypical so I went with 3.

I'm primarily interested in weight training so the free weight area is my main concern. When I toured the club, I saw the 14 squat rack/Olympic platforms and thought "Great, I'll never have to worry about getting a rack at 5 am when I come." After signing up, however, I found that during my usual workout times, there is a class that reserves 10 of these racks, leaving only 4 available and lots of people competing for them. So I had to rearrange my workout schedule to avoid the 5am class, and get up at 4:30am now to make sure I'm done before the 6 am class. And even then, there are times I can't complete my workout because I don't have the time to wait around for equipment to free up. These are annoyances I was hoping my $200/mo. would avoid. I left my previous $20/month gym because it had become overcrowded at 5am and only had 4 squat racks only to find this luxury gym effectively only has 4 racks during my usual workout times.

The steam room and sauna are fine (but again, my $20/mo gym also had these). And the other amenities (towel service, soap/shampoo, hot tub, pool, etc.) are nice but, for me, not worth paying 10 times as much for.

So, value-wise, Life Time doesn't really work for my individual situation. But amazingly, there aren't many real weight-lifting gyms in the Bridgewater area (Retro and Planet Fitness have poor free weight sections and Golds is pretty cramped and crowded). So I'm stuck here for now.

Just know, if you're considering this Life Time and your workouts make heavy use of squat racks, that you might want to check the website for the class schedule for the "Alpha Strength" class first and see if it runs during your usual gym times. There are about 28-30 hours a week when the 14 squat racks effectively becomes 4.

I have been going about 2 months now and word of advice, if you want to find a decent parking spot and don't want to bump into people while working out, avoid going to the gym around 6pm to 7pm.

I am going to preference this by saying I LOVE LIFETIME!. It deserves 5 stars for sure, and it pains me to give it a 3. Its a great facility, very clean, with a great crew all around. Extremely welcoming from the front desk to the people I have had the pleasure to work out with. While I work in Princeton (literally crawling distance to the club there) I prefer to wait until I am closer to home in Bridgewater because the club is that much better. I am a group training person and love my GTX/Ultra Fit classes, however, since they have changed all memberships to Signature status the GTX space is now too small to accommodate what they are deeming to be an acceptable number of class attendees. I would like to know why a large number of existing memberships have been upgraded to a membership that they always could have paid additionally for and are now getting that upgrade for free which indirectly has caused this to happen?? It is not as if those members did not have the option to choose the upgrade in the first place.

At any given time, at least 1 treadmill is inoperable (at one point it was 3 for several days with no adjustments in the registration number). They say that 20-24 people is the upper limit. I have seen various numbers for classes They have 12 treadmills and 2 steppers in the space which is too tight when you then add an additional 12+ people on the floor. It was very manageable prior to the membership changes. When you have a full class and treadmills/steppers are inoperable, and nothing is done to adjust the numbers based on what equipment you have available, it only contributes to the chaos of classes changing, people fighting for space and then angering folks who legitimately signed up for class and showed up on time, only to be told that there is no room for them or to take a treadmill close to the class space on the general floor, IF it is available. I will say that having people on top of me while I am using weights or other equipment does not create a feeling that I am working out in a safe environment. At a recent GTX class the treadmill group had to get off their treadmills throughout their Block to complete squat jumps and another exercise requiring weights in back of the treadmills where there is equipment stored. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN because of space issues.

I am unsure why the decision was made to push everyone to a Signature membership (when I signed up over the summer, I was not given the choice of membership types but I knew that upfront), but, the work out experience in at least the GTX realm has become very crowded and chaotic and even dangerous at times because of lack of space on the floor, when you add in the weights and other apparatus's used during a class. I am not an architect, but, they "expanded" the space over the summer and have now seriously outgrown it (did they take into account that they would increase the number of people taking class by upgrading everyone for free, I doubt it!) The only remedy is to reduce the numbers in the class so people can work out more productively and most of all safely as adding another class in the evening probably won't change the numbers because most people usually come directly from work. I know it is the same in the morning. It was also mentioned that one of the "managers" likes to have the classes crowded (easy to say since she is not taking the class) but this is becoming a constant topic among GTX members (very sad)

I am happy to see that they are going to the 3 strikes class rule for those who no show but that does not alleviate the overall problem of having way too many people in a class and lets see if it is actually enforced.

This is a great gym, only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because they are thinking of converting one of the basketball courts to a pickle ball court. Just ask yourself why before you do this

Why do men and women pay the same if the men get access to a Cold Plunge Pool in their locker room and the woman don’t?

Would love an explanation to better understand why women don’t get access to one.

Outdoor pool is lovely. Other than that, pricing has become outrageous for no more value offered than previously. Disappointed to feel like I'm paying a high membership fee and on top of that things like cafe and salon are still expensive. Not a fan of subscription model for personal training. Given a hard time about accessibility accommodations request. Amazed at the general lack of customer service and care I've experienced, save a few of the PT staff.

The gym overall is amazing and clean with some amazing staff, however my only issue is with the indoor pool area as I used to swim a few times a week there but recently noticed Unsanitary conditions and the pool area to be unkept, got extremely sick last few times I went swimming there, unsanitary pools harbor harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause illness, they need better management over the indoor pool area.

Edit: brand new hair dryers. Cleaner. Complaints about the low water pressure in the shower remain but maybe nothing they can do about it. Bathing suit spinner has to be cleaned inside more regularly but they deserve the 5th star.

Great equipment and facilities. Super friendly staff. A few things could be better though: not 100% clean :( Towels everywhere. Low water pressure in the shower. Low capacity hair dryers. Broken front door for days. Super busy parking lot. Still worth the money though.

Great gym, but getting the run around when trying to cancel a membership. Disappointed that my husband was told his cancellation was to take effect in September, andit didn't happen. We got billed for another month. Be aware.

This gym has gone straight downhill this summer.

1. The locker rooms are not maintained well anymore. Small flies everywhere. Good luck turning on the sink or shower or being the first to do so because you will be swarmed.

2. Every locker in the locker room is locked. 4am or 11:30pm. No one checks to open them so it’s impossible to find a locker that isn’t next to a locked one (or find one at all that’s available) because people leave them locked with nothing in them to reserve them for themselves.

3. Apparently we have to check out basketballs now. It takes time because the people at the front desk are obviously busy doing their jobs so this because a 10-15 minute ordeal just to get a ball.

4. General grossness - I understand it’s a gym - but until this year it’s been kept pretty clean and the people who maintained the facilities used to care about it. They don’t anymore. This includes the weights area, the basketball courts, but especially the locker room. I rarely see anyone actually cleaning it anymore.

The largest takeaway is the lack of care for the locker room - the place that should really be given a good amount of attention considering that’s where you shower, and clean yourself up. May as well go home at this point.

For the amount of money we pay - it should really be taken better care of. This same thing happened to Princeton when I used to go there. I stopped because the people who worked there stopped caring. Maybe it’s time to go to Berkeley heights or health quest instead.
