Dr. Melissa Maglaque is one of a kind! I had tremendous hip pain from an injury and was having difficulty with walking and daily activities, and had to stop all recreational physical activities. Dr. Maglaque took the time to thoroughly understand the history of my injury and my goals and developed a treatment plan customized to my life. Her manual therapy skills are among the best! Paired with in-office exercises and a home exercise program, I was feeling better within a few sessions! She also collaborated well with my orthopedist so he was kept in the loop.
Highly recommend! Dr. Maglaque is one of the best PTs!

I've been working with Melissa at MAG PT for a little over a month now. We primarily work on the reformer, and my goal is to strengthen overall and reduce various joint pains, plus improve posture and balance. She pushes me hard (which is what I need) and I've felt myself get a lot stronger already. And, my persistent back pain from arthritis is gone!

I've been to a lot of PTs across NJ and without hesitation would recommend MAG PT. You get a one-on-one personalized experience and plan catered to you and your body and needs. She spends the entire time with you and doesn't push you off to an assistant like many other places. And I love the use of a pilates reformer which is unique and something I haven't really seen in PT. It's a really amazing low impact way to strengthen and has challenged me in ways that other PT programs and exercises have not. Last but not least, Melissa is so kind, bubbly and knowledgeable and she makes the session something you look forward to rather than dread.

Melissa has been absolute amazing throughout my prenatal experience! I brought my son who is a high level high school athlete to see Dr. Melissa for shoulder pain and his pain was significantly decreased after just 1 session. She performed dry needling along with hands on therapy and showed him exercises to correct the issues he was having. Exercises were also prescribed to help strengthen the muscles. His position requires excessive throwing without much time for recovery. He had played in a game the week before he was treated by Dr. Melissa and he said his pain level during the game was a 9. The following week after her treatment he played in his game pain free. He continues to check in with her as needed. Overall he has made tremendous progress with her and I would highly recommend her.

I’ve had back pain for over 20 years that I would treat occasionally with a chiropractor visit. But after an acute incident last fall I had to make a change in treatment and went to see Dr. Melissa Mags at MAG Physical Therapy & Pilates. Melissa effectively treated the immediate pain over the next month and I’ve continued to see her as she helps both heal and strengthen my back issues. Some of the immediate treatment included cupping and dry needling which both helped tremendously. In addition, pilates on the reformer has helped improve my core strength and mobility. Melissa also provides online coaching, instructing exercises between in-person visits with this great app she uses. This is the best investment I've made to heal my back pain and prevent future episodes. Melissa is amazing! She is very knowledgeable about human anatomy and capable of performing various types of treatments, from dry needling and cupping to pilates.

Few months ago, I was having some tingling and soreness in my hip and leg. Only after my first appointment, she figured out the cause and went over exercises to help. Shortly after then, the soreness went away.

Couple weeks ago, I slept wrong and had very bad sore neck and shoulder and Melissa recommended cupping and dry needling. I was little nervous because it my first time. I am so glad that I received the treatments because I felt immediate relief.

I still go there for pilates. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is having any pain, discomfort or simply just looking for a good pilates studio !

I would HIGHLY recommend MAG PT, Pilates & Wellness services to anyone, especially if you are experiencing any early symptoms of a “frozen shoulder”. I avoided a more serious condition thanks to Melissa’s professional PT services using mindful movement and doing Pilates on the reformer.

I had been experiencing chronic soreness in my shoulder for several months. There was no accident or any known reason for this pain. Dr. Maglaque listened intently, assessed my shoulder range of motion and thoroughly explained to me which muscles were impinged. She then created a personalized PT plan with additional exercises to do at home every day to strengthen and stretch those muscles between sessions.

Overall, her professionalism and positive encouragement made each treatment session impactful and fun. I felt relief after the first session and the ache is now almost completely gone after 4 sessions. My shoulder range of motion and my posture has significantly improved. I feel stronger with a new spring in my step thanks to Dr. Melissa Mags!

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Melissa thus far. I started seeing Melissa about 3 months ago, when I was 5 months postpartum. I felt very weak in my core, my low back was constantly in pain and my abdominal muscles were stretched and weak. I have recurrent instability in my left knee. After injuring it so many times due to sports, I finally went to physical therapy. I've never gone to physical therapy before and wanted to go to a place where I can learn a lot and recover. My roommate, who is very active and has gone to many other PTs before, raves about Melissa. After learning that the whole session is with Melissa and not an aide I made an appointment.

I've done 5 sessions with Melissa (1 regular + 4 pack). Throughout these sessions Melissa was very attentive and carefully explained each exercise and why we are working on certain areas. She also takes in consideration of my goals and tailors each session to help me reach my goals. Melissa's patient education and client service is top notch!

I like that in her practice, she uses cupping and the Pilates reformer in combination with other traditional exercises. I believe this is why her services are out of network for insurances, however I believe the use of these different methods have helped my knee recovery. MAG PT is not for everyone insurance wise however, Melissa is aware of this and is accommodating. She offers guidance on how to work with your insurance as well as offers packages as well. She's super patient focused - I can't express that enough!

Overall, I have learned so much from working with Melissa and if I ever have any ailments in the future I am happy to come back to Melissa for treatment.

Before even beginning the physical therapy process, Melissa made she had the official clearance from my doctors before she began the therapy. Melissa added different skills and techniques to each session so it was easy to track success and strength over time. Throughout the sessions, Melissa took her time explaining each processes and benefit of the specific exercise to me. This helped better understand the value and importance of physical therapy. After a pectoral injury left me in pain for over a month, with no improvement to be seen, a friend recommended Melissa to me and I could not be happier with the results! She was very thorough with her assessment of my injury and came up with a plan involving non-traditional cupping/scraping (it works!) along with some strength exercises and I started to see improvement in my mobility and pain levels right away. She prescribed exercises for me to do at home, and even provided detailed emails with photos and instructions to make sure I am doing them correctly.

I am well on the road to recovery and we are now focused on stabilization and body mechanics to ensure I am not susceptible to other injuries in the future. Melissa is friendly, professional and incredibly knowledgeable, you are on excellent hands!

I have been lucky enough to have been working with Melissa for the past 3 months now. I was referred to her by a friend for shoulder pain and IT Band syndrome and already in the first three months have seen dramatic improvements in pain, stiffness, alignment, and overall mobility! Melissa has been extremely easy to work with and has been very patient in assisting in working with insurance, making the whole process of coverage really easy with the resources provided (You do this on your own, but she provides great guidance and make it SUPER easy to submit for claims). Moreover, she does a really great job of explaining what you're doing, why you're doing it, and how it will benefit overall. She's set me up with great home exercises that have improved strength which I do in-between seeing her, and which I'll be able to continue to use after we're done working our program. In addition to home exercises, she provides additional therapies like cupping and taping which have been extremely helpful. She's provided a lot of great resources as well regarding this on-going care and maintenance outside of just home exercises ie return to run program, pilates for strengthening etc. Not only is she amazing at her job, but she's also just a wonderful person as well and a true joy to spend time with! I would highly recommend working with Melissa, she's the best!

As a long-distance runner that usually puts my body through an unfair cycle of pain, having a cadre of good medical professionals to keep me from falling apart is important. Enter Melissa - who came recommended by a previous PT - as I encountered another rash of conditions many runners face: IT band syndrome, muscles not firing, etc.

From the start, Melissa approached my treatment with a combination of manual work (cupping, massage, etc.), stretching, and take-home exercises. She also made sure to repeat a similar "test" exercise each week to see if progress was made on my stability and range of motion to see how I was taking to the treatment. This was perfect for my style.

More than any previous PT, Melissa gave me some exercises that made sense and could be easily done (not too complex and certainly applicable). And within a few weeks of working with her, a lot of the things that ailed me were cleared up - not just during office visits, but even on my longest of long runs!

Melissa's provided me with an incredible set of resources to ensure that I can maintain the fitness and overall good body feelings she guided me toward - she's really one of the best PTs I've ever worked with!

I've been seeing Melissa on and off since May 2015 for a reoccurring hip flexor injury/labrum tear. During the first year I saw Melissa, I went from barely being able to walk to doing light runs. She helped me eliminate the chronic pain I had resigned myself to and achieve complete mobility. Prior to meeting Melissa I thought that my days of being an athlete were over. I'll never forget Melissa's matter of fact way of telling me that if I wanted to play tennis competitively again, I would - she'd help me get my body there. I have been seeing Melissa for prenatal physical therapy. I am 4 months pregnant with knee pain due to a previous injury and wanted to make sure it got resolved before I got farther along into the pregnancy. I was having pain anytime I tried minor workouts or even long walks. Since seeing Melissa, my pain has gone away. She is always very detail-oriented, takes time to answer any of my questions, uses massage and sports tape along with pilates to help me get stronger.
