After years of trying what felt like everything — spin classes, Pilates, bodybuilding and powerlifting splits, a half marathon, boxing, kickboxing, and every Les Mills or interval class a commercial gym could throw at me — I’d always end up feeling like I needed something new.
Finally stopped in here one afternoon and almost 9 years later, never looked back. There’s always something to work on whether it’s Olympic lifts, gymnastic skills, or one of the challenges that keeps everyone engaged. Solid community, workouts that are always evolving, and classes that feel individualized even within a group setting. The kind of gym that makes consistency feel easy.

Believe the hype! If you are looking for small atmosphere of like minded people who want to better themselves and have high quality coaches who are invested in you reaching your goals then this is place for you!
I started out over a year ago looking to build muscle since turning 40 and I hit a plateau working out from home. Everyone from the coaches to the fellow members is so welcoming and encouraging for me since I had no prior experience in some of the movements. There is zero intimidation and they will work with any possible physical limitations you may have.
The owner puts a lot of work into developing fun workouts, sharing new recipes, tips to better your form during workouts as well as following up with you to make sure you are reaching your goals.
Best part for me is working out with variety of different people especially that are older in age that leaves me inspired.

I’ve been coming to Marble Strength for ~1 years and this has without a doubt been the best gym I’ve been a member of to be consistent and see results.
The owner is extremely engaged with all of the members, between newsletters, instructional videos, general updates, and in person check-ins, it does feel like cares about all of us succeeding in hitting our goals.
The high quality programming maintains a general consistency that allows individuals to see progression throughout the year, revisiting benchmark workouts periodically but not overdone
The gym has all of the equipment needed to host classes, and when we’ve had nearly 20 people performing the workouts at once it hasn’t felt cramped.

I have been a member of Marble Academy since 2024. This has been a wonderful experience for me. This is a semi-private class with our own dedicated coach. Coach Joe takes into account our limits and helps us achieve our goals while setting personal records. The people I’ve met are supportive and together we have formed a close group. I am so lucky to be a part of this particular group. I’ve been a member for just over two months and very happy to have found this spot. I joined after a several month hiatus from group classes and was intimated to get started, especially since I was unfamiliar with barbells. The owner responsibly requires newbies to go through training on the equipment before joining the group classes and the coaches are very patient and kind with beginners, keeping a close eye and helping with form and figuring out appropriate weight. The classes are small, there’s always plenty of space, the coaches know everyone’s names, the members are happy and there seems to be a strong community. I also love the organization; workouts are thoughtfully planned and shared in advance.

Marble Strength was a great experience for the time I needed it. After about 7 months, I gained consistency in my workouts from 1-2 times per week to 3 times per week and that was a big win for me, as well as gaining some strength PRs! 💪🏼The atmosphere is motivating and the owner Joe has great educational content by email, and on social media channels. If you're looking for a close knit group for weightlifting or bodybuilding, definitely check them out!

I was VERY skeptical before joining a gym like this. I didn't want to turn into a 'cross fit is my life' person. After visiting a few gyms, I'm so happy I found Marble Strength. I love this place, not for the gym but for the coaches and members. Every member has been welcoming, and the coaches are amazing. I recently joined the gym based on a recommendation from a co-worker and so glad I did! Before this, I really didn’t have much experience with weight lifting at all, and zero CrossFit experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but my initial training sessions were great and Coach Brian really worked with me and everyone makes sure you feel comfortable. I just celebrated my 2 year anniversary at CFDA and hope to make it many many more! After I had my son I knew I had to get back into exercise, but did not know where to start. CFDA came recommended and I can see why! The classes are challenging, but not overwhelming and easy to modify for any and all levels and abilities. Besides the workouts (which are great) the best part about CFDA is the community they have created. The people are wonderful and very supportive. Starting at a new gym can be intimidating, but at CFDA the staff and the other members are warm, welcoming, and encouraging. You will feel like part of the family before you know it!

Not your average CrossFit gym
The program design at this gym is unparalleled. Joe and his team do an amazing job of building strength and conditioning programs that are unmatched at any other gym I have ever been a part of. Every time I walk into the gym I know I will be challenged and left feeling like I earned it. This is hands down the best way to spend an hour working out. I'm 64 years old with high blood pressure and Type II diabetes. I joined this gym in January 2022 because of my daughter. She joined the gym in July 2021 and has had *great* results (which continue to this day).
As for me, over the past six months I have lost 15 pounds (which I thought was basically impossible for someone my age). My blood pressure has returned to normal, and my A1C has dropped to 5.9. My doctor is amazed. (It's not all exercise -- I've also been eating better.)
There's no denying that the workouts are tough (even though I do the "easy" version of most of the exercises). However, Joe, Stephanie, Heather, and the rest of the staff manage to make each class enjoyable. I go three times a week religiously (which is way better than my attendance record at past health clubs).
As for equipment, amenities, etc., the gym is pretty basic. If you're looking for a "spa" environment with fancy workout machines and saunas, you might want to look somewhere else.
But if you're looking to get a terrific return on your time and money, this is the place!

I've been working out at CFDA for a little over a month and have enjoyed (and sweat my you-know-what off) every single class.
I was really nervous to start working out again since the pandemic started. I felt I fell so far behind in my fitness. However, the coaches are motivational and knowledgeable, and they work with your comfort level while pushing you to the next level.

I’ve been a member at CFDA for about 5 years. Before joining, I tried all different types of gyms; boxing, kickboxing, traditional and I would get bored after a period of time and find something new. This is definitely not the case with CFDA. This is the longest I have been a member at the gym and I plan on being there for many more years to come. Joe is an excellent coach. He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to crossfit as well as weight lifting. He makes it a great and fun environment to be a part of. The work outs are challenging and designed to push yourself. Each day and week is different which is why you can’t get bored. Over the past 5 years, my body has transformed and I never saw results like this with other gyms and I attribute a lot of that to Joe. If you’re looking for a great gym that pushes and challenges you but also an extremely friendly and inviting environment, then you need to check out CFDA!

Been a member at CFDA for over 2 years now and I love this gym. By far the most friendly and welcoming Crossfit gym around. My trainer Joe personalizes the workouts for all fitness levels and makes all the workouts tough, but fun and invigorating. This place Rocks! If you're thinking that CrossFit is not for you, then this is the BOX for you. I started as an "older" member with more physical issues that I can count. A year and a half later, I've lost 40 pounds and 5 dress sizes!! I've also improved my balance and have a much better outlook on life. I owe it to Joe and Matt, the owners and coaches, as well as my new family, all the other members of the box. i have been going to this gym for a year and a half. I was never able to stick to a regular gym. But Matt and Joe, the coaches, help you every step of the way. I am a middle aged woman who hadnt worked out in years. Now I have lost 30 pounds, gained lots of muscle and have reached many gymnastic, and weight lifting goals I never thought possible. CrossFit Dark Athletics is hands down the best CrossFit Box in the Howell/Freehold Area. The Coaches are knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help you reach your goals. Their Barbell Club is outstanding! Joe is the best Lifting coach I've ever had. If you want to lift this is the place to do it! I've been doing CrossFit for 7 years and I can tell you this place is Special. Everyone is treated like family. The environment here is whats different...it's always welcoming, supportive, and fun. The Wods are always challenging but scalable for all. My 67 year old Father loves this place and he's tried many gyms before. The programming here is top notch! If you have a goal, Joe and Matt will give you the tools and help you reach that goal! If you're in the area come check it out!

I have always wanted to try CrossFit, but it seemed so intimidating. A friend suggested trying a 6 week challenge at CrossFit Dark Athletics; it would be a good way to see if this type of workout was for me. So, I took the challenge and I’m so glad I did! Not only did I lose weight, I also gained muscle and cleaner eating habits. I think I actually see a bicep developing.
Matt and Joe are excellent coaches! They are supportive, knowledgeable and really nice guys. While the workouts are tough and challenging, the environment is fun!
I definitely suggest taking a class, you will not be disappointed.
What started out as a 6 week challenge has turned into me becoming a committed member of this gym.

I highly recommend CrossFit Dark Athletics to anyone looking for a new box or a place to start their CrossFit journey. The coaches are caring and extremely knowledgeable. Their programming is always well thought-out and push you to your limits, safely. That being said, do not be intimidated to try it! Yes, some of the people that are doing CrossFit lift heavy and are super fit. But, the fact of the matter is that the majority of the people working out at a CrossFit Box are regular people just like you and I, trying to get fitter and healthier. Wow everything I wanted . I mostly do oly and the oly station is perfect . All the tools you need are here. Finally found a good barbell club . It's also nice to know I can hop into some cf to work on my conditioning. The coaches pay attention to your needs and help you work to get better at your weaknesses.
