I have been a member of this gym for four years. Very abruptly a few days ago they announced that the gym would be closing after telling us for months that it was just going to be relocated on the same property. They have mistreated their employees and the members by not letting anyone know of their plans. Now there is simply a sign posted on the door that tells us that we were transferred to a different gym and they will accept all of our memberships. I am handicapped and cannot go to the other gym, therefore I have attempted to call and cancel my membership and get my annual fee that they just charge me refunded. No one from this gym can help me on the phone, they refer me to the new gym island gym. When I contacted island Gym this morning they told me that they do not have any records for the membership from matrix gym. I managed to get the credit card shut off before they could charge me for the month of September. I implore other members to contact their credit card company to dispute charges if they are not going to go to the other gym. Very poor actions on the part of this company and the fact that they will not talk to any of their now former members.

I’m going to say from the beginning I had a great time cause I always love to go there a dance all the time with my own Bluetooth speaker until the staff members threw out my speaker without writing me a email me or call me for a warning to come get my speaker before they throw it away and I was highly upset and I was a member there and they treated me like a guess but the owner didn’t even care to solve the situation at all so I never came back sense.

I was greeted immediately and one of the managers I believe her name was Kerry helped me through the whole billing process and different classes I can take.
I just had a baby so she helped me pick out the best machines to use to get back in shape. I love going here it’s my mommy time!

Where to begin? Hmmmmm…. Gym is really convenient that is for sure. Fees? Nope. Let’s not start at that one. Let’s start with how ridiculous it is to cancel a membership. I mean you gotta go through that process to cancel a membership? First you call the gym or go to the gym to let them know you wanna cancel your membership. Second staff will tell you to call ABC billing department to let them know to cancel the account. Third the billing dept. will give you an email to send your “REQUEST” to cancel the account. What the f…. So there is a possibility that my request will get denied? This is madness. Greed. Money hungry. Plus! There is a 60 day notice. When I signed up the guy told me 30 day notice. I forgot his name but his hair’s braided. Oh one more thing when I was there he was on his phone talking to somebody in front of the club members. Jesus…… going back to the cancellation. So after you send an email to request you gotta wait for the response of course then according to one of the employees I gotta pay the cancellation fee? What the actual fudge man. This gym makes it so hard to cancel membership but so easy to sign and get money out of the people. GUYS! LOOK ACPAL. Atlantic City Police Athletic League. THEIR GYM ONLY CHARGES $75/YEAR. Has a boxing ring and boxing equipment and a basketball gym.

Not worth it at all. Ive been trying to cancel since November 2020. They literally hold your credit card hostage. There company ABC Fitness purposely make it a complicated process to cancel. Its been to a point where I have to ban them from charging my card. The gym staff and the gym itself is alright. However, until they actually fix this situation I would highly recommend you go to another gym. Theres a Island Gym a couple miles away that you can pay in cash with. It is totally worth it more than this horrible place.

This gym has poor customer service. When I call to cancel my membership the lady who attempts me did not listen to what I was saying to her, and that's why she could not find my membership. I was trying to explain to her that I have a twin brother with a similar name, but she did not let me speak. After she found my membership, she said they will call me back to confirm my cancelation, they never call me back, so I call them back again, and finally cancel the membership. Additionally, you have to consider that after you cancel the membership you still have to pay for 60 days even now in the pandemic.

I was staying at the show boat with my children and we decided to check the gym out. I went on a Monday by myself and asked what exactly are the rule and stipulation for kids coming in the gym. I was told “there are none”. I decided to go on Tuesday with the kids to work out on the treadmill. We had no issues. I then went back on Wednesday and the manager was very rude. She kept over talking me acting like I was trying to break some rule. She was talking about a handbook that is kept behind the desk and have things hand written all over it. She then start telling who ever was working ( this is the reason why people need to follow rules) clearly no one knew any rules. This place is not organized and they have terrible communication skills. My 2 younger children 12 and 8 was denied excess to the treadmill.

I joined several years ago. The facilities were adequate. However when I tried to cancel during the pandemic (I'm not able to go indoors in public places) they bullied me into freezing my acct. When I called back later to cancel, no one could help me. Only a special manager can "approve" your cancellation. There is no online form to cancel- you have to be "approved". The "special" manager I needed was never there. I missed her call back once. Also, freezes cost $5/month. One time I spoke with a gym representative who said I could freeze without the $5/mo fee, but I had to call another number. He didn't do his job, and my acct wasn't noted properly and the other company didn't allow me to freeze without the fee. Also, you need to give SIXTY days notice to cancel (so you pay 2 more monthly fees for something you're not using). I have been dealing with this problem for 4 months and still not resolved. They have my credit card hostage and they are a SCAM company. I am NEVER setting foot in there again. DON'T sign up.

I signed up a month ago, but planned to cancel soon because I was worried about the coronavirus spreading a lot more, which, it did. The guy at the front desk reassured me many times that I could just cancel around the 27th, and would not be charged further fees. This was not true. I called in on the 25th, as I really could not risk to go anymore due to one person in my family needing frequent treatments inside of the hospital, which would not be possible with corona. The who picked up said that I would be charged only once more, as "it takes some time for the cancellation to be processed, due to the holidays", which was fine with me, as it was only going to be a 10$ charge, and when I signed up I had the intention to stay at least 1 month, even though I would not be able to utilize it. He mentioned freezing for 6 months, but I went with cancellation due to me having poor memory and probably forgetting about it. Today I received another charge, which confused me because I should have canceled my membership already. I called in, and this time a woman picked up, who told me various new information: There is a cancellation fee of two months worth of membership, and that it is impossible to cancel before 1 month. Now I am going to have to pay 70$ just for half a month of going to this gym.

How do you tell customers that you will get called back by the “manager” on Monday and I have to go out my way to call them . If customer satisfaction is not your expertise I would advice to not even run a gym . It’s about the environment and service to others. If you are not for that then this place is garbage . Than I called again and got mad and they gave me the number. This is a 24 hr facility. The staff is courteous and will show you how to use the equipment. Members get free parking. Fitness center is fully equipped with the latest machines and a free weight section. Zumba classes are available also Yoga. Just make sure that you get you moneys worth by coming often. Access to a pool in season is offered.

First let me say that I have been to this gym several times in past years without incident. It is nice to have a real gym as opposed to a typical lame hotel "fitness center ". Place is clean and staff is nice. With that being said, on my most recent visit on 8/28, I sustained an head injury (concussion),chipped teeth, head and neck contusions while using a piece of equipment that failed. I was taken from the gym by ambulance to the local hospital. Worker at the gym had no clue what to do nor did he really want to help me.A hotel security officer came and got me ice because the worker wouldn't get any.He tried to make it like s its my fault the cable failed.And that's only part of the story to this incompetent employee. There wasn't a first aid kit, available ice, incident report, or a manager on duty. God forbid someone has a heart attack, is the staff trained to use the AED?Still trying to track down someone to report to.

Great gym but once you sign up be prepared for extra fees and ridiculous cancellation process. First you have to wait for a manager to either approve or deny your “request to cancel” THEN call their billing company AND THEN get an email address from them to send your “request to cancel” and hope it gets approved. I fully regret signing up for this membership. If I had know how hard it would be to cancel my membership I would have never signed up in the first place. Absolutely not worth the headache. Oh and also the fees they don’t tell you about. Get ready for those.

This Gym is an excellent fitness/health facility and has plenty of equipment and other cool things such as a nice lounge area, tanning beds, and more. Trust and believe this GYM is worth the price. It has everything an average person would need to be fit and healthy. The staff at the gym are very professional and knowledgeable. There are also a lot of popping events going on every week as well during the summer season. A shout-out to Ms. Wendy, management team, and staff for making this one of the best gyms in the Atlantic City area. Also, the gym is a perfect place for vacationers as well.

We stayed at the Showboat and came here to workout a couple of days, and Wendy and Neema (sorry about spelling), were so gracious and welcoming. They showed us around, and I was able to join a Zumba class with Fae. Each morning I came in, they were happy, and had great attitudes. The place was great and clean, and it was perfect for what I needed. Wendy runs a tight ship and I adored her and her team.

Very nice facility. However, I chose to take my business elsewhere due to the way I saw a staff member (she very proudly/obnoxiously claimed to be the general manager) talking to members of the gym and her employees. Her inability to show any respect toward other human beings or display one ounce of professionalism in the workplace was enough to steer me straight toward island gym lol. Aside from her, the gym itself is very nice and the gentleman that gave me a tour was great. Maybe he should find a new gym too (or they could find a new manager!).

ANYONE WHO ATTENDS MATRIX FITNESS:

After starting a membership and trying to end it at matrix fitness, because I was moving out of Atlantic City....I was told I can only cancel through a hand written letter 30 days before ending my membership. As crazy as that is my problems didn’t end there. After my account was charged the 3 months I didn’t cancel , I found out my card was being charged double times ($120) because it was linked to another members account. After figuring the issue out and calling my company to ask them to return the fees not associated with my account ($60) 2 weeks ago...nothing! No manager check back or check up at that. The gym is always cold and lacks equipment I think planet fitness gained me back! I definitely don’t recommend. And watch your accounts!!!!

Decent gym for a hotel. Had everything one would need as far as free weights... Except a deadlift platform.

Staff was friendly and they offered day passes to us... Since we weren't actually staying in that hotel... $10 is a great price.
