I took my first class with Amber at Mess Barre in February, and from that very first session, I knew I had finally found the fitness studio I’d been searching for. Amber is an expert in both fitness and how your body works—her instruction is thoughtful, effective, and motivating. I’ve never felt so enthusiastic about a workout class. After taking two or three classes, I can feel how my body and mood changes; it is truly amazing and magical.
It took me years to find a place like this. I was a member of Barre Method for several years until the studio closed during COVID. Since then, I’ve tried various other studios, but either the instructor quality was inconsistent or the cleanliness of the space was a letdown, which made it hard to stay committed.
Mess Barre checks all the boxes:

A spacious and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to keep coming back

All of the strength and sculpt class instructors are amazing. They give helpful direction and feedback during exercises and keep the class focused on engaging the correct muscles. The class times work for everyone’s schedules and the studio is great. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a low impact, strength class.

Each class I take is the highlight of my day. I leave feeling strong, energized, refreshed and confident to take on the day’s challenges. The staff and community that surrounds Mess are supportive, welcoming and inclusive.

I have been going to Mess for over a year with an unlimited membership and I LOVE IT! Truly a hidden gem in Hoboken — as good (if not better :) ) than some of the franchises but won’t break the bank and it’s local founded/run! Amber and the whole crew of instructors are so kind and take the time to get to know everyone in the class. The classes are a good workout and the instructors always give ways to scale up or scale down.

Updating my review as of 2024- Mess is still my favorite and go- to studio. The instructors are amazing, and have recently been extra helpful in my recovery from a shoulder injury. Can't speak more highly of Mess!
I've been looking for a new studio in Hoboken and have been completely blown away with Mess Method.. amazing instructors, great variety of classes, and a really awesome sense of community. So excited to have found this spot and would highly recommend!!!

MESS Method is the studio you should try out! The instructors are simply the best, different class formats, different levels within each class format. You don’t have to “level up” in order to jump to another class level.
I also enjoy that you can go to the studio, work out virtually at home or choose a class from the library.

I discovered Mess Method about a year ago and I have to say, it's simply the best! All of the teachers are incredible, but I have to give a special shoutout to Amber. She is one of the sweetest and nicest teachers I've ever had. I always look forward to coming to her class because I know I'll leave feeling inspired and ready to take on the day.
Barre can be a challenging workout, but Amber somehow manages to make it fun and engaging. She gives us multiple levels to work with, which means that no matter what your fitness level is, you'll be able to keep up and get a great workout. There’s also sculpt options that give you weight lifting and barre in one.
I've taken barre classes all over the place, but none of them compare to the Mess Method team. Amber creates a real sense of community and culture for her students, which makes coming to class a truly enjoyable experience. She is genuinely nice and always goes out of her way to make sure her students are getting the most out of their workout.
Overall, I can't recommend Mess Method and Amber enough. If you're looking for a challenging and fun workout with a supportive community, this is the place for you!

Mess Method has changed my life after being in the worst shape physically/mentally almost 2 years post Covid. I decided to give Mess a try and have never looked back. The classes are geared to all levels, making them fun, difficult, and very effective. The instructors truly care and guide you on your own barre journey. Amber, the owner, has built an unbelievable community that supports each other and I have even made new friends. I am the strongest and healthiest I have ever been plus am back to my pre-Covid size. I have tried barre classes before and thought they weren't for me, until I tried a MESS class! I particularly like the Sculpt (strength) classes, but I have also tried the Cardio and Signature (barre) classes and have really enjoyed them. All the classes challenge me but never make me feel inadequate; Amber always provides modifications AND a motivational, positive environment. Amber and her team put so much thought and effort into the workouts for each class, and it shows. As all the classes are virtual right now, I especially appreciate that I have the option to take the class live, or watch a recorded version on my own schedule. So convenient. I look forward to continuing with virtual classes and taking them in-studio (hopefully!!) soon!

I love MESS Method. The classes are challenging and fun and even though you work your butt off, literally, you never feel defeated. Quite the opposite, you feel strong and confident. My favorite class is Sculpt, I’m looking to increase strength. I have gotten stronger, increased flexibility and strengthened my joints. I never worry about my knees anymore, which were quite banged up after years of martial arts. Amber, Robert and Marisa keep you working hard but having fun. Every class is different enough to keep it interesting but familiar enough to help you build on what you’ve learned. It is about working safely at your level, a lot of attention to form so you are getting stronger in a safe way. Even in a virtual world, the classes are great, highly recommend!

My wife had been enjoying classes for some time and after the pandemic hit I was keen to try something for general fitness. I started doing the sculpt/strength classes and really enjoyed them immediately. My back and core feel so much better and my joints feel much stronger. We have been doing recorded classes and live one on one instruction and the remote sessions work remarkably well. Amber is a real pro and has done a great job of tailoring a program to our needs and we plan to continue indefinitely.

One of the best workouts ever. If you want a lean and toned look, this workout is for you. My favorite classes are the Signature, Barre and Sculpt classes. I have been a lifelong runner and needed to add strength to my routine. This workout is hard without having the next day debilitating muscle soreness I’ve experienced from other strength classes. An added benefit that I have noticed is I do not have anymore knee pain when I run. I feel Mess Method really helps to strength the muscles around my joints, and this has made my running better and more enjoyable. Love Mess Method as part of my training routine!
