This place is a Scam. I canceled my membership in janurary, was charged in February which is understandable. I was then charged in March so I called and was assured this was a mistake and wouldn’t happen again. I just checked my bank statement and was just charged again!?!!! Are you kidding me now I will not stop until this is resolved. Do your self a favor and avoid this shady company. This location is going under anyway so don’t waste your time

Keep raising rates... equipment in the cardio area is always in various stages of not working. There is never any clean up done in the night so working out in the early morning the equipment is always in a state of disarray.

Was a member for 27 years. The last 5 were horrible, never clean, bounced between here and the Ramsey location so I know of both. Trust me they are going to shut down both locations within the next year. Don't join. For a stretch in Ramsey 2 times a month wouldn't open up on time. Pain when you expect to open at 5 and then have to go from Ramsey to Mahwah location to get a workout in before work. Corporate never cared so I left to 24 Hour. Farther away but I know they are clean and they stay open. Mahwah more beat up than Ramsey, old free weight equipment and dimly lit. Don't waste your money, you get what you pay for. No decent gym is going to charge $19.95 and be able to maintain it, costs way more.

I joined NYSC in Mahwah NJ one year ago. I went in for a personal training consultation and was uncertain whether or not I wanted to sign up because it was a contractual sign-up; you were obligated to pay for personal training every 30 days. I wasn't sure I could afford it. But I was given a hard pitch for one specific trainer who the manager felt confident I would work well with. She was female and near my age and had similar injuries. I asked if I could train with more than one person and the manager said it was better to work with just one: you build a relationship with that person and over time will get more benefit from your relationship. Your trainer will get to know you and your limits and it really is best to stick to one. Ok, fine, so I signed up. Loved her. I paid for personal training for a year with this person. A new manager came into the gym and there was massive upheaval. He started firing people who had been at the gym with little provocation, and still has not provided adequate replacements. This Sunday I was called by NYSC Mahwah and told that my trainer is no longer with the gym. I asked for my training sessions to be refunded and to stop payment on future personal training sessions. I was told that I would no longer be charged but they would not refund me for the sessions already paid. I was told I bought a service, not a person, and I was obligated to finish out the sessions I had paid for. I explained to the manager that I could understand that policy if I had walked in to cancel, or if I in any way had something to do with why my trainer was no longer at NYSC, but the decision for her to leave abruptly wasn't up to me. I was sold the training based on this one specific person and it didn't seem fair. He sighed and condescendingly told me it was policy, and that he had other trainers (he doesn't: he fired all but 3 trainers and none of them are a suitable match). I asked to speak to his superior. The manager told me that he had a Director but wouldn't tell me the Director's name or contact info. "I won't give you a phone number. There is a 'Contact Us' form on the NYSC website that you can fill out and submit." That was his answer. I don't understand what benefit I will get from working out with a random trainer for three sessions... someone who doesn't know me, is not close in age, and is not the same gender. The manager is more concerned with his bottom line than with his clients. Perhaps if he focused on the people he works with and for, he wouldn't have to fire everyone and create chaos in an otherwise decent facility. Lastly, this general manager smokes cigarettes right outside the entrance to the gym and clients and others have complained about that behavior, but he continues to smoke in front of clients. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM!!!

Avoid this gym at all costs. When you go in to join everyone is great, they will do anything for a new member. Answer questions, call you back...anything. So I joined at $19.95 a month, the price was exactly what the gym is worth. Its crowded, not clean, many machine don't work properly, but for $19.95 I was still ok with it. Fast forward 2 years later, in December 2016 I received an email everyday to refer new members at $19.95, fine understand they want to grow. but then in January 2017, I get a charge of $32 and call to find out what it was. I was told they raised my membership and corporate sent an email. BULL!!!!!!! I received probably 20 email from them to refer new member but nothing on raising my monthly rate. I went in today to cancel and they really don't care, they blame everything on corporate. The manager Andrew is never there and never returns calls. Bottom line, I am not happy with the way they treated me, and to end they charge you $30-40 to cancel your membership after they do you wrong. AMAZING....do not join.

Okay facility, but very poor customer service. Always had to call multiple times to get someone to answer the phone. Was also told membership was canceled, but it wasn't.

Place going down the drain. Little to no maintenance being done. Broken equipment all the time. Not very clean. Staff is nice but seems like nobody in charge and or nobody cares. Locker room quite messy. Only stay cause its location but that's wearing thin. I would look around at the other options

Its a gym. Not much to say. Big general weight lifting area with a smaller upstairs cardio area (there is some overlap into both). Staff is very friendly and the patrons are as well. Gets busy after work but besides that you have plenty of room. Limited parking for how busy it gets and some of the machinery needs to be replaced. Whole place could use a "freshening up" with paint, flooring, etc.

Close to work. But kinda bad with maintenance. Equipment often broke. Locker rooms clean but stuff is always breaking and seems very worn. Would not recommend.
